I wanted to get a second opinion as my dog Tobi was getting weaker and weaker after his first blood transfusion a month ago. I already consulted our general vet and they mentioned it was due to the medication he was on that was making him this way. I just felt like something wasn't right and wanted to see another doctor just in case. I searched around online for the closest one to see if they would schedule us in on the same day but alot of places were not taking in any new patients. I called right when they opened and I believe I spoke with Dr. Beauchamp and explained what was going on with my boy. I was very grateful that she was able to squeeze me in on the same day. Dr. Beauchamp and their team provided such respect and care to my boy. They took a look at him and told me that he did not look well and was needed to be admitted to the hospital right away. Everything was explained to me very thoroughly and answered all the questions I had. Unfortunately, there was alot of complications going on with him that day and he didn't make it. I am extremely thankful that Dr. Beauchamp followed up with me via phone call to see how he was and did not charge me for our first visit. If we were ever to get another pet, I will be 100% taking them here. read more

DO NOT GO. We have been going to good vets for 2 years. After Dr.Beauchamp left we really only continued to go because of convenience and it's a huge regret. My dog was neutered 1 week ago. Since then he has had complication after complication. 1st a bad reaction to a prescribed medication causing him to diarrhea blood for days- when we went in to address his diarrhea and dehydration there was an attempt to sell me on a fecal test for Giardia when this was CLEARLY a reaction to the medication. Then the Dr "FORGOT" to give him fluids for dehydration and sold me 3 cans of food to take home to help him. Luckily, I looked into the ingredients of the food further and realized that it contained chicken which he is allergic to. No comment at this appointment on the state of his incision. 2- Luckily because I am a nurse myself I continuously assessed his incision site and noticed that there was a severe hematoma starting to look black. I immediately called the vet to let them know that the tissue was beginning to look necrotic and he was an increased pain. They requested a photo- I sent the photo for an opinion and they NEVER RESPONDED.. 3-We went to the emergency vet they said that the incision looked extremely abnormal and that we should follow up with our vet bc he will likely need a second surgery. 4- We go back to the vet because I followed up 2 DAYS after the picture was sent and Dr asks if I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A QUOTE FOR A LASER to try to bring back life to the dying tissue. Due to my pushback, they did the laser for free. I still walked out paying $85 for more pain medication because it is now required since he's having ongoing pain due to this complication. The doctor then stated that if the tissue does not get better, he will definitely need another surgery which I am sure they are thrilled to charge me for. Not only is this place an extreme money grab, half of the staff is rude and the bedside manner is CRAZY. I brought my dog in because he was clearly in pain and one of the vet techs was grabbing his cheeks, smooshing his face around aggressively saying how cute he is when he's VISIBLY uncomfortable. I'M SO THANKFUL THAT WE DECIDED TO GO WITH A RECOMMENDATION FOR HIS NOSE AND PALATE SURGERY BECAUSE I'M CONFIDENT THAT IF WE HAD SEEN A RANDOM SURGEON AT THIS LOCATION , WE WOULD'VE HAD WAY WORSE COMPLICATIONS OR ACCORDING TO OTHER REVIEWS MAY HAVE LOST OUR DOG. Save your money and go somewhere that isn't private equity and actually cares about their patients not just $$$$$! read more

That was just not a good experience. I switched to this location last year and had a decent experience from what I remember. This time it felt like all they were trying to do was to sell me on their TotalCare+ financial package and to get me to come back for some $1,000+ dental program. They only spent a few minutes actually checking out my dog and seemed rushed doing it. They spent more time pushing me for those programs, even telling me all about them as they were doing exam instead of focusing on the exam itself. They even told the front desk that I was interested and she had started to sign me up. It felt like I was dealing with salespeople rather than vets. When I left I had a similar feeling to leaving a used car dealership. The final bill was also almost $200 higher than the "exact" estimate they gave me because apparently it didn't include the bloodwork, which was not clear. Fortunately, this was just an annual check up and vaccine visit, but I'd be worried to take my dog for anything serious. I'll be trying out a different vet next time. read more

I recently worked incredibly hard to rebuild my life and my credit, finally qualifying for a $1,000 CareCredit card to ensure my cats, Red and Ollie, had the medical care they deserved. I came to GoodVets Polaris because I was completely fooled by their advertisements of being "affordable," "transparent," and "budget-friendly." ​I feel utterly humiliated, belittled, and financially violated. ​I was honest and vulnerable with the staff from the moment I walked in. I told them at least four times that I was struggling financially. I actually started crying in the office because I was so devastated to learn my cat, Red, has stomatitis; I felt like such a failure for not getting him in sooner because of his pain. Instead of showing an ounce of empathy or offering a referral to a low-cost clinic, they handed me a $300 bill for two shots and an exam. A single rabies vaccine was $84--a 500% markup over the $15-$20 charged by actual community vets in Columbus. ​The true cruelty, however, was the "treatment plan" they handed a sobbing woman: $2,735.51 for Red's dental surgery. ​I balled my eyes out all the way home, apologizing to Red and promising him I would do anything in my power to find the money so he wouldn't suffer. I felt defeated and hopeless. It wasn't until I got home and did my own research that I found the truth: The Columbus Humane Essential Care Center provides this exact surgery for a flat rate of $300. ​If they were actually "Good Vets," they would have seen a woman in tears and said, "We are a boutique clinic and might be outside your budget, but please call the Humane Society." Instead, they stayed silent and tried to drain every penny of the credit line I worked so hard to earn. They don't care about the animals, and they certainly don't care about the people. We have been taking our cat Oliver to GoodVets since last September as we noticed a cut on his abdomen. The first two doctors we saw here were helpful in what they thought might help Oliver, but once we saw Dr. B she was very much involved in our case. What we thought was just a cut that was having trouble healing ended up being a somewhat rare form of cancer in cats. Dr. B was a huge help in getting Oliver diagnosed. Did a great job with his biopsy, and although Oliver is extremely feisty at the vet she did not back down & even called in extra back up for when we went to her in Roscoe Village which we very much appreciated! Although Oliver's cancer is not something we continuously go to GoodVets for, she put us in contact with a fantastic Vet Specialty place who was able to give us a good course of action. Thank you Dr. B for keeping on Oliver's case & not giving up on a feisty cat like Ollie! without you his diagnosis may have come much later and we might've had less time with him. read more

I rarely write reviews, but my experience with GoodVets West Loop has been deeply upsetting and disappointing. Before my kitten Prea's spay surgery, they specifically asked us for our consent to remove any retained baby teeth during the procedure, and we said yes. Despite that, they did not remove the tooth -- and never gave us any explanation. Weeks later, one of Prea's baby canines began breaking apart until it became infected. We brought her back to the clinic, where they confirmed the infection and prescribed antibiotics and painkillers. They told us they would speak with the surgeon and follow up the next day with an explanation and a solution. That follow-up never came. I emailed them -- no reply. Days passed. Only after sending a second message threatening legal action did they finally respond. They did cover the cost of the infected tooth consultation, and after the legal threat, they refunded the medications. But by that point, I had already gone to another vet for a second opinion. Prea had to be sedated again for dental X-rays, where we discovered that her adult canine was trapped under her gum -- something that could have been completely avoided if the baby tooth had been removed during the spay, as they themselves asked permission to do. Now, due to their negligence and lack of professionalism, Prea has to undergo a second surgery to extract the retained adult tooth. What angers me most isn't the initial mistake -- I know things can go wrong. What I can't accept is the total lack of communication, empathy, and accountability that followed. No apology. No ownership. No concern for my cat's pain or the stress this caused us. This experience left me feeling angry, disappointed, and betrayed. We trusted them with our kitten's care, and they failed us when it mattered most. I do not recommend this clinic. It is with sincere gratefulness that I say I stumbled upon this veterinarian. My dog was extremely ill and our preferred veterinarian was busy. We called 9 vets in the area and most weren't taking new patients or didn't have openings for 4 weeks. Very bad experience. There is a 10-minute grace period and I showed up 2 minutes after the 10 minutes. They told me that I needed to reschedule when my dog was sick and I already had to wait a few days to get the appointment. Very frustrating because 2 minutes would not make or break the vets day or schedule. Parking and location are also terrible and other reviews also mention the terrible customer service with being just a few minutes late. read more

I have complete trust in the doctors and they are always patient with all of our questions. I took my cat to this GoodVets location initially to establish care with a Chicago vet (we'd recently moved to Chicago and we loved our Indiana vet, but it was a bit far away). First visit was fine, we got him his rabies tag, and all seemed well. On the second visit, Dr. Taylor told me quite unexpectedly she felt I should put my cat down due to his issues with constipation. She said he would need an enema every 2 weeks for the rest of his life, that he would be unhappy, and that enemas carried a risk of rupturing the colon (which she implied to be a sure thing). She didn't outright say euthanasia was the only humane option at first, but she forced me to say it by listing his options and then explaining why she felt each one wasn't desirable. I felt she hadn't been thorough with checking his medical history and wanted to pass him off as a sickly senior cat without taking into account his resiliency and overall health. I get it--it's easy to give up on an old cat. I didn't think it was his time, but I was heartbroken at the thought that I was causing him discomfort by forcing him to live. I was shocked to say the least, and took my cat back to the Indiana vet the next day for a second opinion. She agreed that it wasn't his time, and put him on an OTC medication that fixed his issues immediately. She was alarmed when I relayed the information to her that Dr. Taylor gave me. She said she'd been giving enemas for 35 years and never once experienced a colon rupture in a cat. It wasn't as frequent as Dr. Taylor led me to believe. I am writing this review now, three months later, because I got three more wonderful months out of my boy before I had to let him pass recently due to an unrelated issue. For those three months he was happy, healthy, and perfectly comfortable. I wanted so badly to love this vet--front desk was nice, good location, clean facility. If you have a senior cat, I can't in good faith recommend coming here. At the very least I would ask you get a second opinion before taking any action. read more

I am very grateful for GoodVets today because they were able to see my baby girl with one-day's notice despite being a new patient after getting the run around at South Loop Animal Hospital who made me wait a week for a sick appointment, then cancelled our appointment while we were already in office, and wanted me to wait another week to come back for the next spot to open up. Thanks to GoodVets, I got my girl the care she needed urgently today and it turns out to be pneumonia or bronchitis which required treatment. Dr. Ahn and my vet technician were so sweet and great with my baby girl. It took an hour and this team got a laundry list of concerns squared away with no unturned stone by the end. Getting this much attention from the vet is unheard of!!!! They took their time, did a great job, and their pricing is better than South Loop Animal Hospital to boot!! Thank you Rebeka!!! My little guy, Trooper, has been to several vets in San Francisco and now Chicago, as I've moved around the country with him. He's got some hard-to-manage chronic conditions that have given us both fits off and on for years. I came to GoodVets with him because our previous vet had no availability for a vaccine he needed soon. I walked out with a new primary vet. My dog walked out with a rabies vaccine, and lots of love from the staff at GoodVets. Our very intelligent vet had a concrete, subsequently validated explanation for Trooper's GI problems -- a priceless gift for a wonderful dog who's been suffering for too long. It's been an involved treatment process for my boy and I, but GoodVets has treated us well. I've never had an issue getting in touch with a vet, or getting anything I've needed. GoodVets isn't your cheapest option, but they provide a standard of care Trooper and I sorely needed. My boy's health is worth it. Naming your practice GoodVets is bold. It sets a higher expectation. I initially wanted to get into the streeterville location but West Loop could get me in sooner. The facility was clean, no animal odors, and very well decorated. We recently moved to West Loop and used another local vet in the area. Once GoodVets opened, we decided to try since it was closer to home and hours were more convenient. It just so happened to be around the same time we adopted our rescue, Miley. The staff here is incredibly kind. They know you by name and are very personable to you and your pets. The office is very clean and even has an adorable wall to take pictures in front of! The doctors are very attentive and have even followed up with us after hours to check in when Miley had a few issues. Other vets in the area are much more expensive for an exam fee alone and GoodVets gives new clients a free first exam. They did a thorough evaluation on both our dogs every time we brought them in and even fit us in immediately for emergencies. We also use the groomer here too! She's FANTASTIC and speaks to you each time before and after the appointment. The service here is just wonderful and I highly recommend using them for your vet and groomer! read more

Have had an unbelievably frustrating experience here. Vet prescribed my dog medications, but refused to give us a paper script. When we tried to fill the script at Chewy, the vet refused to fill it saying she did not trust them to get it to us in time (that is not her call) and would only fill it with them or at Costco. When we opted for costco, we learned at pickup they had only ordered one of the two scripts. I appreciate trying to make more money by steering customers to fill a script with you, but it's completely unethical to refuse to fill a prescribed script at a patients requested location so that you can wring more money out of them. Needless to say, we won't be returning here in the future and recommend you consider avoiding as well unless you like being taken advantage of. read more
