This is not my normal donation charity. But the timing was right. Having received a mailer that…read moretheir truck would be in my neighborhood on an optimal day, I decided to take advantage of the opportunity. Having grown up a member of the Vietnam generation I know well the need these Veterans have. Many came home with severe PTSD, which was not understood and treated like it is today. The boys that came home were not the boys I had known before they served in the jungles, many drafted with no other option than to go, What happened over the years to these boys, who are now elderly men has been heartbreaking. There were suicides and divorces not too many years after their return. It was impossible to live with the severe PTSD, which I personally experienced. There is still homelessness and a plethora of other problems. So I was happy to make a donation towards their support from my purging project. It was time to get some bags out & open up the bedroom space they had been occupying, Not knowing their schedule, I put out the bags the night before. The next day my bags were gone with a donation receipt left in my door handle. They didn't detail the number of bags so I noted it on the receipt for tax purposes, Also left was a donation bag listing the items they accept & the most urgent request for clothing, I hope some or all of the clothing is used for veterans in need. But if their thrift store generates funding for their support or housing then I'm also happy. They accept almost anything except furniture, mattresses, larger appliances, TV's & computer monitors. Detailed needs were clothing all types & sizes, clothing accessories, shoes, baby items, houseware & glassware, books, toys, bikes, stereos, radios, portable TV's, bedding, draperies, curtains, kitchenware, usable small furniture & rugs, small appliances, tools, jewelry & cosmetics. They don't accept cash donations. Also noted is the fact that "Your tax deductions of usable discards is the only means of helping your veterans." It makes me happy to help the boys of my generation who received no support when they returned. Most went because of the draft. Many returned having experienced terrible horrors. Every time I see someone wearing a Vietnam Veteran's hat I thank them for their service. It makes me happy to help support those still struggling with my donations.

However, they were seldom ever (never) set up by my 9-9:30am appointment. Once, at the PA Library, I arrived 15 minutes prior to my appointment and they were just setting up. I finally decided I get better treatment at the VB Blvd location. The main location is much more organized (because they don't have to set up). This past donation (last week), I appreciate the young man assisting me upon check in, he allowed me to check in immediately when I entered the facility. Someone (Anna Marie I think was her name) instantly took me in the room, done vitals, and iron, and took me back to the donation bed. I was finished donating BEFORE my noon appointment. EXCELLENT service - as always at this location.

I've convinced friends to join me on my giving spree as well. I've made the plaque three years and a row so they must be doing something right. My favorites are Lisa, Angelo and Robert. The others are amazing as well and make you feel so comfortable when you donate. If you're doing plasma or platelets, be sure to get a blanket. A bonus is that most of the time they come out of a dryer so they're nice and toasty. The setup with streaming movies is nice. I usually watch a movie and a half while I'm there. Then after the finish, typically 2-3 hours, you get drinks and snacks while you regain your bearings. I'll continue coming here to donate to save lives as long as my body will allow it. My mother is suffering from cancer, and I have an old coworker that needed platelets as well due to health issues. So knowing that I'm helping others, makes me feel so good. The rewarding feeling from giving life and not some material thing is so different. I wouldn't change it for the world.

I think her name is Katrina idk if she's a manager or what but she's extremely rude yells "beep beep" when she's bringing out the bins. Doesn't say excuse me, gets an attitude with customers, will practically almost hit customers, carts and the other bins. With a I don't give a F attitude. Literally have heard customers complain and it's like nothing gets done about it. Also looks like some of the employees hate working with her. I have even seen her try and argue with managers because the way she does things is her way or the highway. When Sabrina or Vivian are managing or bring out the bins everything goes smooth and they're enjoyable to be around. Honestly, if they're not there, we don't know what we're going to get. Hopefully corporate will fix some things because if something doesn't change a lot of great people will leave!

As we're coming up to checkout the lady is saying we are closed and starts taking out the money from the draw. there were about three other costumers wanting to get checked out as well. the lady then said she kept saying we were closing soon and for people to come up to checkout but anything that was said was never heard. if she did come on announcements and say how they are closing soon, it was very hard to hear over top of the music going. She kept telling everyone to leave in a very nasty tone and was talking to her coworker saying "i ain't checking no one out", just very rude and honestly if she wanted to leave so bad she could've just simply lied and said the register wont work after 6pm and we would've been on our way but the attitude and the way she talked to all of us was so rude. i never write reviews usually but this is just absurd. it was me and my friends first time ever going and we didn't know there was any rules related to no checkouts after "closing". Although they did checkout someone before us because we were waiting in line behind them. Just crazy to me because you would think they'd want all the money they can get for that day. As she was telling us to leave we were trying to get our purses out the cart and she kept telling us we have to leave now. as me and my friend were walking out i stated to my friend that i was going to write a review and the lady followed behind us and then said "go right ahead". i said im not talking to you i was talking to my friend. and she put the thumbs up and locked the door. very disappointed with this experience.

This location is on the smaller side and it has not been renovated recently so looks outdated. You can drop off donations in the back of the building. This location is generally pretty clean/organized. There are multiple fitting rooms to try stuff on and the staff is friendly. There are shopping carts available but the aisles are fairly small so I tend to not grab one unless I'm finding a lot of treasures! When I first visited this location I wasn't very impressed with their inventory but the more I go the more it is becoming one of my favorite locations in the area. Goodwill has recently changed their tagging/pricing system so items that are for sale are individually priced and tagged with a barcode label. I've noticed that this makes it easier to find items that are the "Color of the Week" and 50% off. On Mondays they also make the previous weeks' sale items $1 as a last ditch effort to get them sold. The new barcodes also make it easier for the cashiers to ring up your items. The only con I've experienced with it so far was a few items being mistagged as the wrong categories. Overall I would recommend this location to others who enjoy the hunt of the thrift. Don't judge a book by its covers, you can find some good stuff in here!
