Convenient Goodwill location on the lower side of Capitol Hill. There's a few parking spaces directly in front of the store that is perfect for dropping off your donations quickly, and I have never had a problem parking there to drop things off. For a dense area as Capitol Hill, the store has a ton of space and lots of items to browse. I'm a fan of thrifting, but Goodwill tends to not have great stuff; this location is no exception. That is the only reason I gave 4/5 instead of 5/5, otherwise this location is awesome! read more

You can everything from: furniture, bathroom decor, kitchen decor, bedroom decor, outdoor decor, tools, power tools, electronics, kitchen electronics, men & women's clothing & shoes, children and baby clothing & shoes, accessories for men and women, books, board games, kitchen wear and much much more. This new location is a nice addition to Seattle's Goodwill stores, and convenient for Capitol Hill (previously, the closest store was the main Dearborn one). It's clean, reasonably priced, and best of all, it has AMPLE FREE PARKING. This is a rare feat for Capitol Hill and absolutely makes the difference between me shopping/donating here regularly and me half-heartedly thinking I should maybe try to stop by sometime. The store is located in the old Half Price Books building, and it has a lot more charm than Goodwill stores typically do (at least upstairs) -- exposed brick walls, open beams, large windows, and high ceilings all make it feel spacious, airy, and light. The downstairs area, where housewares are located, is more typical Goodwill style, with linoleum floors, exposed pipes, and plain white walls. But hey, you're here for bargains, right? I was worried there would be a significant Capitol Hill markup, but the prices seem pretty comparable to other Goodwill stores, and they do have the same 50% off colored-tag sales as the other stores (although it's not as visibly signed). The inventory seems to be hand-picked to appeal to the neighborhood, so, for example, the shoes and bags are more fashionable and feature more designer labels. There's a limited amount of furniture and books downstairs as well. A welcome addition to the neighborhood and a great not-for-profit alternative to Value Village! I'm looking forward to stopping here regularly to see what's new and drop off my donations. read more

This location is off to the side and is medium sized, but be prepared to find a lot of trendy and name brand items here. I went yesterday while they had the blue tag special ($1.97 per item) and came out with $27 worth of items. I loved how they sectioned off each area; the left side of the store (2nd floor) was for men clothes while the right side was for woman's. On the first floor, they had kitchen and furniture which I didn't look at. They have a nice selection for shoes, I managed to find Gentle Souls by Kenneth Cole shoes there (original price $200+) that I got for only $13. There were other pairs of shoes too that looked really nice. The clothes were really cool, the prices were kind of steep though. I had this one top with tags on that is $12.99 which is higher than what most people would want to pay. read more

they had some really unique pieces, there were some really nice jackets and the place is extremely well maintained. as a clothing store, this place does pretty well in having something for everyone and a section for everyone, but most of their clothing is definitely not thrift store prices (to be expected with capitol hill), with most things being around ~$20 read more

I am not a stranger to doing some serious digging to find the gems. On my recent visit here (though not my first) I was reminded of how well organized this store is. The merchandising and selection is way above your usual thrift store, be it a chain or not. Like any thrift location, pricing can be "What the hell were they thinking?" and " OMG, I can't throw this in my cart fast enough!" On this visit, it was mostly the latter. As fantastic as it was to purchase so many wonderful finds, the best part was actually the assistance I received. TYLER and LAUREN were over-the-top helpful, and dare I say it: FABULOUS! Seriously. Additionally, I bought many fragile items and the care with which they were wrapped and bagged was definitely not your usual thrift store we-don't-give-a-damn. Nu-uh. This goodwill is the best I have ever been too. Clothes-wise they have A TON of clothes. If you are willing to sift a little bit then you can find some nice designer items at insanely low prices. They also situate some of their nicer items of clothing toward the front of the store. They have 3/4 dressing rooms so sometimes you have to wait a few minutes to try things on. household items - I furnished most of my apartment with things from this goodwill. This being said, The furniture here is sometimes hit or miss. If you are willing to go back 2/3 times you will probably find what you are looking for. I found I have had the best luck finding nice furniture in the mornings because the nicer pieces of furniture sell the same day they are put out sometimes. They provide convenient pickup behind the goodwill, and they will loan you a wheeled carrier to transport your items. kitchenware - They always have a wide variety of dishes (plates, bowls, pans, cups, etc) at low prices. They also sell electronics, I purchased a like new 48 inch visio tv from here. read more

This is hands down the best Goodwill I have been to (so far). Actually, of all the thrift stores I've been to -- across chains and non-chains -- I really like this one. First, it doesn't look like the typical Goodwill. Maybe it's the basement. Maybe it's because the familiar *aroma* was missing. Whatever it is, I liked it. There are a ton of clothes and accessories on the first floor. The kids area is kind of small, but I scored some great finds (Toddler Patagonia Snow Bib for $6.99 and Hanna Andersson jacket for $3.99). The basement had a lot of stuff. I was a little peeved when I saw another customer holding on to this fantastic-looking tea kettle. If only I'd gotten there earlier! I would've spent more time here if I had my baby carrier with me. I couldn't risk letting my little guy run around and take a tumble into housewares or furniture. I can't wait to come back. I'm not in Capitol Hill a lot, but this store alone gives me a reason to! read more

There are two types of goodwill in the world: first, the one that you walk into and know it is going to be a dirty one that requires gloves. The second, is clean, organized, ample amount of selection of different types of products (e.g. Clothes, electronics, furniture, books, etc.). This Capitol Hill location is definitely the second. If you go early in the morning you can usually get a parking spot in the lot next to the building. Otherwise, good luck trying to find street parking in the area - very tight. They do keep the place clean and tidy compared to some of the other Goodwill locations but as most, the racks are packed and they need to get rid of some of the really dated stuff. You can find some bargains and neat stuff but you do need to go frequently and know what retail prices are. read more

Seattle Goodwill at this point is hilarious to me because for some reason they've got the idea that they're a vintage store and not a thrift store. Cap Hill especially will literally put ripped/stained/broken items in their awful "fashion focus" section, which takes up half the store and never goes on sale. Not how it works. The people who work here are aloof and it's laid out like a labyrinth, fitting rooms have a 5 or 6 item limit (I can't remember which since I'm so exhausted from trying to wade through the mess of the store) that loses them sales more often than not. All part of the Standard Goodwill experience. Oh, and Lifelong five blocks away benefits good causes, and has items of actual interest. Shop there instead. read more

Out of all the Goodwills I have been to over the years to donate clothing, I have NEVER bought anything other than something to dress up in for some college party. After moving from Louisiana, I didn't have any large coats and barely any boots, but thanks to the lovely donations from the people of Capitol Hill, I've been able to stock my closet with the necessities, and trendy ones at that! They even have a section of the store dedicated to clothes that are currently in style at the moment. If you're looking for a last minute outfit, or top, and don't want to spend more than $5-$10, this is your place! Check out the sales, they have 50% off various colored tags throughout the month, so I've bought tops for $2.50 from Banana Republic, a J. Crew pea coat for $20, and Nine West flats for $5.00. For those of you who need to drive to get there, no fear, they have a free lot next to the store to park in. read more

I started coming to this goodwill when my favorite (everyone's favorite) Value Village in Cap Hill closed. There is soo much parking, which is a major, major plus, especially given the neighborhood's parking issues. This store is kept very clean and is set up like a department store- thoughtful displays and all. I do find this store to be more expensive than others. It seems that the folks here price items based on the brand rather than the level of wear. I once saw a $120 sundress! I also like that the housewares are on a separate floor. There is always an expensive selection of kitchen items, dishes, etc. One qualm I have with this place is the sizing. Anything that's women's size "large" and up gets put on this tiny little rack. Every other second hand shop I've been to has an enormous selection of larger sized. Does this goodwill not receive donations from average sized humans, or do they just not want us to shop here? Dog friendly. Knowledgable and efficient staff. Also lots of random dollar-store type chochskis for sale. read more

The first time I walked in here, I was honestly shocked by how well-coordinated the design was for the building interior and decor, if only if the lower level could compare :p Shopping here on Mondays is also absolutely amazing, I am often surprised by the quantity and quality items becomes marked down to a $1.79 purchase. Though I am not really in the market for vintage clothing, this goodwill also has a very interesting vintage section worth looking through even in the other gender's section. Probably one of the cleanest Goodwills I've ever been to? They have public bathrooms!!! Clean too. Doesn't have that dusty smell most thrift stores have. Is this even a Goodwill? Prices were a little more than what I'm used to, but didn't stop me from looking through the racks. The good stuff seemed to be priced at $9.99. Take your time and you'll find some really good buys. Very spacious, clean, and thoughtfully laid out--unlike most other Goodwill stores I have been to! There is also tons of free parking, which really gives you no excuse to avoid donating stuff. The donations centre is located on the opposite side of the building from the main entrance (it is accessible via the parking lot), and you'll always be greeted by a couple of volunteers if you venture there to hand some stuff over. I am yet to buy anything from the store (I've only ever donated here), but I've seen some great clothing deals while perusing the aisles. I would definitely come here not just for wacky one-time-use outfits, but also to see if it's possible to snipe a good deal on generally expensive items like high quality jackets. read more

A friend and I stop here at least once or twice a month to check out the bargains. As numerous other Yelpers have stated, this is definitely the most organized, cleanest, and friendliest Goodwill location in the greater Seattle area! The selection of items range from awesome to downright bizarre...in other words, a ton of items for people of all walks of life. I mostly come here for accessories and other little trinkets, not so much for used clothing. Nevertheless, you'll definitely find some nice, fashionable clothing on the racks at "decent prices". I say "decent" because I've notice a drastic change on how this Goodwill has been marking their prices on certain items of clothing. This is very apparent on name brand items such as "North Face", "Columbia Sportswear", and so forth. Such outdoor recreational clothing from these name brand companies certainly are pricey at places like REI, but to mark a used North Face fleece jacket with a broken zipper and coffee stains at $29.99 is just a tad ridiculous. You have to remember...Goodwill receives every one of their items for "free" from kind donations made by kind people. Even if Goodwill sold every item for just $1.00 they would still be making a 100% profit. The money that Goodwill makes on these items goes to a very good cause, without a doubt. However, there's a fine line between reasonable prices for "used items" and unreasonable prices for "used name brand" items. Having said that, this is still a favorite place to shop if you're in the market for cool stuff. Just be aware of retail prices in regards to what you buy here! :) read more

It's a Goodwill, although particularly large and particularly clean as those go, at least compared to Hawaii. Uhm. There was a strange lack of mixing bowls and baking sheets, although they've got 20¢ flatware which includes some loose pieces of my favorite flatware set (Towle Supreme Liberty Bell). Like most thrift, it's best if you're good at walking away from a bad deal, have an eye for quality, and know what you need. If you do your research on whatever you're buying the trip will go a lot better. I did get this rad Hitachino Nest glass which will make a great gift for an owl-obsessed friend doing her graduate degree in Japanese translation! read more

This is an amazing Goodwill store in the Seattle Area. The two floors of merchandise are well organized and it is easy to find items that are in top notch condition that belong in your house. You will find clothing items on the first floor. When you descend to the basement you will find smaller items and housewares. Street parking is not the easiest in the Capitol Hill area but take a few minutes to tour this former bookstore and you will find a mountain of treasures. read more

Super clean and well put together. The whole top level had clothes which looked like they had a pretty good selection (I don't shop for clothes but I did see a Burberry purse that caught my eye and I did buy a nice North Face coat). They had quite a bit of jewelry in the cases. the kids toys and clothes section was super small. Downstairs is housewares and books. The craft section was small with super overpriced fabric and yarn (1 yarn skein was $7.00 yikes). there seemed to be more dollar store 'new items' then donated housewares items. There wasn't much knick knack stuff either. The pet section was only a shelf. There wasn't a lot of bedding or electronics. And the furniture was pretty limited. There was a good selection of DVDs and an average sized book selection that was very well organized. Overall...I didn't get what I was looking for but picked up somethings I didn't expect to find that were in great shape. I didn't get a cart full like I do at other stores but I'd go back if I was in the area. read more

Be careful with parking In the Goodwill lot. My wife and I went shopping here on a Sunday night. My wife found a couple pairs of shoes. We checked out as the store was closing at 9:00pm on a Sunday night. We had our dogs in the car and decided to grab a beer at the Stumbling Monk just behind the Goodwill. Around 9:15pm my wife got the dogs out of the car and came to the pub. 15 minutes later we walked back to go home and our car was towed away. The Goodwill employees were parked right next to us in the same lot and had called the towing company to have our car hauled off as it's the Goodwill store owners policy. Thank goodness we had the dogs. This cost us $400 to get our car back and I had to take an Uber to work on Monday. The towing company wouldn't give us the car back that night without charging us an extra $100. We felt completely scammed, taken and ripped off for shopping at the Goodwill. Seriously on a Sunday night in basically an empty parking lot, and they took the car right at 9:30pm. 2 pairs of women's shoes cost us $500 with the shoes, towing and Uber trips. Will never shop there again. read more
