I went to this Goodwill today to donate some trinkets and I asked the older male attendant handling the donations if they accept certain items. I received the following smart answer: "Why don't you walk around the store to figure out what we can and cannot accept?" Caught me off guard. I came back from my car with the trinket to donate and the attendant sighed, and rudely told me to go to the other door and hand it over. They swiped it from my hand. The attendant is a tall, male, older person. This is extremely unacceptable behavior. To the person, if you are unhappy with the job, I recommend you leave. Your customer service skills are non-existent especially since you work in customer service. Goodwill needs to retrain this person on how to speak to customers. read more

I was in the area and decided to stop by. This place is in a shopping center so there's plenty of parking. This place is medium size. They have small sections of kids clothing and woman's clothing. They had some pretty good finds . The reason I gave this place 4 stars is because they are not overpriced. I found some old school addidas for my son for $4 in great condition. I would definitely recommend trying to buy used first. read more

I went to this goodwill last Thursday. I left with a handful of great treasures, staff was very very nice, and the store was well organized. However the store is kind of empty. Hardly any kitchenware and furniture. No jewelry, low on books. Small amount of kid toys. No appliances, no garden or outside things. They need more donations!!! LOL read more

Came in here for children's books and they charge 4$ each. Ridiculous. The children's tops and pants are 5$ each. Might as well shop at Ross and Walmart and get new things. Let's start here if I could give this less than one star I would. This is my regular location that I drop off donations and shop at. This is very long overdue and concerning about the management at this place. I wholeheartedly believe that substance abuse plays a huge role in the way in the way this manager speaks/treats his team and customers. I'm not sure of his name but he wears a black shirt glasses, and has long hair. The way that he speaks to the employees has completely made me uncomfortable from the way that he harasses them passive aggressively speaks to them and bullies them in front of consumers. Also the way that he treats the customers. IS NOT OK! due to the situation that happened last night unfortunately I will not be shopping here anymore if he is still there, because I will not put myself in an uncomfortable situation like that as a consumer. And I am sad for the employees that have too. As a local resident barely making ends meet after COVID collapsed my business, I often frequent the goodwill here on Southampton in Benicia CA. One of the things im always seeking is a pair of boots without holes in them that fit my size 13 feet. Well today, I actually found a pair that fit! When I looked at the price tag however it read 49.99. Quickly I looked up the retail price on the very same pair of brand new never used boots and found them at a cost of 39.99. When I approached the manager to inquire about the possibility of a reasonable discount proportionate to the new retail price I showed her she said she'd let me have them for that same price. When I said I could get the same ones brand new for that price she grabbed the boots from me and said "then don't buy them!" ,and walked to the back of the store with them. The very name "Goodwill" means friendly, cooperative and helpful. From what I experienced, I think their name should be changed to "Greedy" or better yet "Grabby Greedy Grouchy Garbage Grubbers" I've never seen a more unreasonable, rude, ignorant and ill-mannered store manager in all my 50 years on this planet. These profiteers aren't a charitable organization. They are the antithesis of corporate greed and should be put out of business permanently! read more

When I saw a fake Christmas tree with a price of $69.00, I thought I mistakenly walked into Ross. But then even Ross' prices aren't that high!! It's great that they still take donations at the Benicia store. However, I wish they would state their terms on their website rather than having to find out information when you get there. After learning that the Vallejo store no longer accepts donations, I went to the Benicia store recently to donate a few articles of clothing and kitchen items, only to be told that all clothing items must be bagged. Okay, I was able to locate a bag & gather all the clothing for donation with no problem. Next trip, I brought over several large bags full of clothes only to be told that the bags were too large and they would not take anymore clothing as they already had enough. Last thing is that it would really help if they note their donation hours somewhere on their website in addition to their store hours. When I called, I was told that they accept donations on Saturdays up to 1 pm, and up to 4 pm Mon-Fri. If there is something on their website that I overlooked, my apologies to Goodwill. read more

One of my favorite places to shop at .people who work there are very nice ,prices are pretty good.

I had $500 in men's and women's business attire and name brand casual clothing, gourmet cookbooks and a few household items and attempted to donate on Saturday August 17th. I was advised the location couldn't accept "anymore due to a fire hazard" as she pointed to the very large piles of donations blocking the doorway. She said to return on Sunday. I returned with my husband on Sunday and was rudely advised that I need to get there by 7 am otherwise they "fill up." As a tax paying individual who has been working since the age of 16, I am deeply offended that your store workers cannot see to it that items are moved out of the way or to the back of the store on a cart to make room for valuable donations for the good of the people. Absolutely love Goodwill!! I always try to find a home for everything, but sometimes you just can't but you know someone will love it, enjoy it or it will be useful...it's not trash! Don't drop off trash! That's just rude! I saw some of the stuff being dropped off and NO that is not vintage...it's trash! I saw a pair of used boxers!? Really?! Terrible! But yes, if you have some useful goods, call and find out what day/time your local Goodwill opens and drop them off! I used to love going in to the Benicia Goodwill and buy china cups for my home decor. It was fun searching and finding that treasure. Today I want nothing to do with the store. I don't know if it's new management or company policy. I had a small piece of furniture, a foot stool, quality wood and design for the right house. The woman guarding the door would not accept it because it needed to be recovered. Isn't that what some customers want, a bargain and a project. This woman also went through every box and bag of the donor in front of me. I will not go to this store again. I might also say that this very same woman stood in the only parking space available a few days earlier while talking on her phone while I sat and waited to claim the space. read more

I was waiting in front of this Good Will ; arriving the recommended hour earlier then dropping off time to be first in line! An employee walked up named Jackie. She was so kind. Listened to my ordeal and knew I had an H&R appointment at 10 am (when Good Will opens their doors). She said, "since you are first in line, I got you, go ahead to your appt." What an angel. We don't have that kindness everywhere, especially during this hard pandemic. She is a valuable employee. read more

Their shelves are always empty or close to it. With 15 minutes of accepting donations, they put out a sign that says we are full. I don't get it....other Goodwills are fully stocked and you can find almost anything. No wonder stores are losing. Vallejo is now closed and they were fully stocked! read more

DO NOT DONATE HERE! This is the third time I've been here where people are standing around, not doing anything and told my donations would not be accepted. I spent all day cleaning and gathering and made sure I was 3 hrs before close. The donation area was empty. I said I can't take this stuff home. I asked what I was supposed to do with it. Was there a dumpster? (Being sarcastic) She told me there was a trash can outside. The homeless here hit the jackpot with old Coach purses and brand new Uggs that were to small! As I walked back, there were more bags of donated items by the trash can. Such a shame. Shame on whoever runs this place! read more

I'm what you may call a picker so I'm always going places looking for goods , This rating is for the quality of the content in this location which i find to be one of the poorest in the Bay Area . It seems to me that there needs to be a little bit of quality left in the store and not all shipped out to there online stores . The only pieces left are the ones not worth selling on line because the value is not there . Seems a big waste of money to have a store that size with so little of quality. Just wondering why in Benicia . Now with that said , the employees are wonderful and great to work with and some do have the same concerns about what is left in the store to sell . Amazing prices on most items even though they're short staffed I still give them a five star they do their best to help you find what you need it's not a regular store so their products consistently change.i got a pair of $70 jeans for $8 .. I'm only giving this place 1 star because it won't let me post otherwise. Service at the donation center is complete trash... I called before heading down to the donation center regarding a couple of bed side table and a kids table and 2 chairs because I had seen online that certain locations were not accepting furniture. When I called the women I spoke to said this Benicia location was accepting small furniture which my items were considered . However that was complete lie. Once my husband got there the guy who came out to the car first of all was rude to my husband didn't even look at the stuff we had and just flat out disregarded us saying " I can't take that?!" My husband explained to him that we called and the person we spoke said small furniture items were being taken but the guy just walked away. Mind you the bedside tables are like brand new we just can't use them anymore because we recently bought some to match our bed set and the the kids table was a tiny painted one with princesses on that my daughter could no longer use because we bought her a new one with storage. So it wasn't like we came there with trash and it breaks my heart that these items can't be used by people who could really use them. Very rude and I will never donate there again! They should be ashamed of how they treat people! read more

Nice people, but I have to give them a bad rating. I bought a very nice entertainment center with glass in the doors. Quite ornate and nice. Solid maple. I bought it from them the very day it came in from a donor. They insisted on having their 'own guy' wheel it out the front door. He used a small tilt-back dolly with no ropes or tie-downs, and, incompetently, pushed it, instead of pulling it slowly, over the threshold, then smashed it into the top of the doorway, tilting the unit off the dolly and smashing to pieces on the ground. I felt bad for the fellow doing the loading. He didn't mean to do it. It was an accident, and he didn't have the proper tools or training. Nothing to do but ask for a refund. I had just bought it. They could only offer me in-store credit, not a refund, even though I purchased it 3 minutes before. Incredulous, I had to accept the alternative: wait for Goodwill Corporate to send me a check. This occurred on November 7, 2015. It is now December 12th and, though I have addressed this issue several times with them in person and on the phone with two managers, I get no check, rather, blank stares and shrugged shoulders and Corporate gets blamed. As they should. But I have spent several hundred dollars in this store, and donated several hundred more in my own belongings to them. It is a huge disappointment that no one, not even my friends there, have made it a priority, a daily update situation, to get me my money back. C'mon people! I guess I will have to switch to #SalvationArmy or #Savers #GoodWill #illwill? UPDATE: I finally got my check after more than 6 weeks! read more

Yes, this place is on the small side, but there is still stuff to be found. I came in looking for fine China, and found two beautiful sets. (Incomplete, but there were two) They were fairly priced, something that is hard to find for that particular item. The part that really got me was their customer service. It was well above the norm. I had help carrying my stuff to check out, help boxing it up and help taking it to my car. I was very pleased and recommend anyone to go. read more

I love Goodwill Stores in much the same way that I love thrift stores, pawn shops, flea markets, garage sales, or any other place where I can see secondhand items I didn't know I wanted and try to guilt trip myself into buying them. But I'll make an exception for this place. It's too small and cluttered and you never find very many things of value. Not to mention, Adobe is just a few miles away, so secondhand shoppers do have a place to browse. read more

Goodwill Donation Center Benicia - Donation Center Near Me - Benicia, California

We've been residents in Benicia for decades and have donated to Goodwill periodically over the years. We don't donate junk as that is discarded. The last time I went to drop off some bags, I assumed that I could just get a bin, as I've done before, to transfer my bags from my vehicle to the clearly marked donation station. Apparently that is no longer acceptable. I had to use the blue shopping carts. Since I had 3 bags, it would have required 3 trips. I'm no spring chicken so that would be difficult. Seeing others having issues with this store and other nearby locations even limiting donations, maybe it's time to find somewhere else to donate our lightly used items. Interestingly the West Reno location was a much smaller store but the elderly gentleman was most pleasant and wheeled the cart to our vehicle and took the bags back in. That is service the way it used to be. read more
