I had a horrible experience today at this location. To the employee who waited on me, you have some…read moreserious mental issues and need help!! I just sold my house and needed to downsize. I pulled up in a sport utility vehicle full of items I was donating, about 10 boxes including cookware and utensils, silverware, sports gear, electronics, holiday decorations, and about 80-90 articles of clothing, to name just some of what I had. All of it was good quality, no junk. A male employee approached me with a bin on wheels, grabs the first box and slams it into the bin, hard enough that it got my attention. He then grabs the 2nd box and does the same thing, causing 2 boxes of glass Christmas ornaments to pop out and land on the ground. He then starts to wheel the bin inside and is literally dragging one of the boxes of glass ornaments. When I pointed out to him what he had just done, he got visibly angry with me and told me if I had a problem, I could take my s#*t somewhere else. I told him to relax and just be careful with the fragile items I was donating. That's when he told me he was not going to accept my items and if I continued to offload my vehicle, he would call the police, and I would be charged with illegal dumping. I walked up to the entrance of the warehouse and yelled to see if anyone else was working but he was alone. He didn't like that I did that, so he grabbed his phone and called the police. I immediately started putting my stuff back in the car. As I am doing so, I'm listening to him tell the police that they need to hurry because I am threatening him and he fears for his safety. He told them I was acting hostile and confrontational. ALL LIES!! I then pulled around to the front but stayed about 15 parking spaces away from the building. I wanted to see if the police showed up to tell them that everything he said on the phone was a lie and they should check the video. He shouldn't be wasting police resources with lies just because his feelings were hurt. He then walked out front, I assume to wait for the police, and spotted me sitting in my car. He immediately started grabbing his genitals and yelling at me to s#*k his d#*k and that he was going to c*m down my throat. I put my window up so I could no longer hear him, but he kept grabbing himself in a very animated manner and yelling. This is the mentality that Arc decided to put in charge of their donation center! Pathetic!! I understand that this is not a high paying job and Arc is probably limited to who they can hire, but you couldn't possibly do any worse than this guy!! After a few minutes, when the police didn't show, I left and took my donations to GoodWill. They were happy to help me and even made a few comments about how nice some of the items I was donating were. It made me feel really good about helping out. You lost me forever, Arc. In case you are not sure who this individual is, he is missing 2 teeth in the front of his mouth, one upper, one lower.

Yes, this food pantry is more like an actual store. I really like that idea. People can shop and put into their cart/boxes what they'd like to take home and checkout, but do not have to pay. Speaking to one of the workers, it's less about qualifying to be able to shop here, but more about setting an appointment during business hours using limited information and you can come shop. It's a great way for people who need a little bit of help to get some relief without having to feel so exposed or desperate. There is a great variety of donations and staples provided here at Metro Caring. They do work to avoid less sugary, unhealthy snacks and I respect that! There are too many examples of how less expensive, unhealthy food is what many people end up eating. They have a produce area, dried goods, many starches, beans, teas/beverages, cooler items, snacks, and more. I'm very impressed with this place!

Today I scored two like new brooks brothers wool sweaters for $40 and a stack of paper plates for a dollar! I highly recommend shopping, supporting, donating & volunteering at the CAG. in the past six months, say from November 2021 to June 2022 I've seen the prices climb…read moreterrifically, as if a new manager swept in and thought that all prices were too low. Pricing sets of silver out at $4,000-$8,000 for example, or sets of European goblets out at $1800 smacks more of the old antique-dealer one-upmanship that we often see at antique shows than a humble offerings of a thrift store dedicated to Children's welfare. The fun of the place had been that one might find true bargains, and I felt that that was in keeping with the nature of the business, a charity for children. This high-falootin' spirit may be contrasted with the demeanor of say, and ARC store, where there is a spirit of mutual helpfulness. Donations lead to fair prices or even bargains, and that in turn brings in lots of revenue. La Cache was never as cheap as ARC of course, nor is the quality of their merchandise equal, but the truth remains that the spirit of the "old place" and old pricing structures are definitely gone. Now, at La Cache, goods sit and sit and sit, which was never the point, never the spirit. There are always ten employees in this small shop at a time, and they can hound you, especially if you drop by in your work clothes, as they suspect you might steal. Being followed is a creepy experience. They now get two stars rather than one, just because they're reportedly in the business of helping children's hospitals. As far as "antiquing" goes, I'm giving up on this spot. Their system of dropping prices in accordance with the amount of time an item has sat unpurchased, is a bit arcane and off-putting. No one lives near this shop, and to try to coordinate travel with their drop-dates on your favorite item, well, it comes off as a bizarre system. This system of three price-drop dates also leads management to price too high at the outset. Really, this outfit sold a lot more when things were priced "to go." As there are many very nice people associated with this enterprise, bringing back a feeling of "sociability" shouldn't be hard. Good luck. We customers appreciate a thrift store with interesting wares above the ordinary pale, but the respect should go both ways. I do a lot of shopping at Goodwill but I prefer to donate my clothes to organizations like Clothes To Kids of Denver. I called them up and asked what kind of clothes they accepted. Note: they take all season clothes, shoes, hats, and accessories. That was great news because I had all of those things to donate including a few purses and a couple of bags. The staff were so friendly and helpful. They were deep into a major reorganization of all of the clothing donations which was massive! Denver: take your gently used clothing to Clothes To Kids it will go a long way to helping kids, teens, and adults get back on their feet.
