We have been donating at this drop off center for years, and had mostly good experiences. We came across Goodwill while shopping at Westborough. In this day and age where charities no longer pick up your donations at your house, this is a super convenient location. It's in the Safeway parking lot, next door to Westborough Center. Drop off is easy. You queue up beside the cones. Once you get near the front, you hand your donations to the staff. We never encountered rudeness from the staff. They also accepted all our donations and did not kick back anything. You need to ask for a receipt from the staff, it's not automatically given. read more

The location is convenient for us and our dropoff, but the older Asian man is extremely aggressive, gruff, and frankly, mean. Today was the last straw. at dropoff he kept stepping up closer to me to the point I backpedaled and told him flat out "Sir you are being quite aggressive." To which he kept saying "give me the bag I know how to do it." I've been coming here for years and know how to sort and manage my own dropoff but he goes right to yelling at you as soon as get out of your car and pop your trunk. Goodwill, please train this person to be better at customer service please, or place someone else with better people skills here. The other gentleman who was working with him was way more friendly, greeting me with a "Good Morning" before Grumpypants muscled in. This is a great donation site. It's located outside in the Safeway parking lot. There's never a line so it's easy to quickly drop stuff off and go. Despite the other reviews, I've always found the workers here to be pleasant. Regardless, the donation boxes are pretty well laid out for you to drop your stuff in, so only minimal communication is needed. read more

Easy drive through set up. Sort your items before you show up, as they have dedicated bins for clothing, housewares, electronics, books, etc. I know many of you feel that they should be required to take your junk, but please keep in mind that junk is useless to them. They will take broken electronics for recycling, but anything else that is broken or stained or ripped has no value to them and it costs them money to dispose of. If you don't think someone will buy it at a Goodwill store, then it's probably not worth donating to them. read more

Very convenient drop off location located next to Safeway on Gellert Blvd. All the bins are clearly labeled: clothes, shoes, kitchen,etc. The staff assisted me with unloading the items and patiently showed me how to obtain a donation receipt. read more

MEANEST GUY EVER I went in to donate a bag of clothes and didn't notice that we had to drive in between the cones since they were so narrow so i just stopped and parked right by the cones, He got so mad and told me to drive up and reverse in between the cones or else everyone else will do what I did (no car was even by us) He told me where I stopped my car was safeway property etc and was just w/ full on attitude I tried to reverse it but thought it was at this point so dumb, All I wanted to do was give him the bag of clothes and just leave. I didn't have a bunch of things to donate where I would have to move and park it to reload. He took my bag turned around and mumbled to never come back here again. I said "what did u say?" He said don't come back here again, as long as I'm working don't come back here with that attitude" I was genuinely lost and confused at how I had attitude when I was smiling and being nice until he told me not to come back there. I told him I'm telling all my family to never donate here (since we usually do) and he didn't care and told me to " go go leave" I told him to have a good day and left bc I was super confused at what just happened. He was the rudest person I have ever met, especially since it was over the smallest thing. Surprised that the other worker was watching and listening and didn't tell him to relax but instead went behind his back to signal that he can't say much and to calm down aka go. I never write on these but w/ the way I was treated for NO REASON, it definitely has to be done. Donate somewhere else. And BE NICE. I really wanted to try again...but please, don't do it. There's tons of other donation sites that will even pick up from your home. This location still has rude workers with no customer service and they are not willing to help with anything. They also close up early, even though the bins and truck are not filled. I'll say it again, Goodwill, please train your workers to be more professional and welcoming. read more

I had done a closet clean out and had my stuff bagged up to donate. The people working this location are rude. The man ripped my bag to shreds going through it. It was not knotted shut. I had no idea I had to sort it ahead of time. Then he told me to take it all back, yet my bag was now ripped to shreds. He put it on the ground and walked away. I couldn't even pick it up, it was so ripped. Now know how they expect things these days. But I was really annoyed that they shredded my bag and told me to take it all back. I'm sure I'll return because finding a place to donate things is so hard these days. But I don't like these people at all. read more

I had a great experience 2 weeks ago. We just finished our yard sale and some misc items that didn't sell so donated them. The 2 gentleman that were working that Sunday afternoon were super nice and helpful! We even tipped them bc they were so nice and pleasant to work with. Usually don't get this type of service at donation centers. read more

Convenient drive-thru. Be sure to note hours on website. This location is staffed. Your donations should be categorized: clothing, shoes, electronics, etc. You can get a receipt for tax purposes upon request. Very convenient drop off location since it's at the Safeway parking lot in Westborough., South SF. I've been here several times over the past years and have dropped off different items mostly used clothing. The attendant is usually helpful, it just depends who is working that day. Before the pandemic you could get a paper receipt. But after the pandemic you just go to the website which the attendant can give you and print out the donation receipt. Its Best to get there in the morning before 11 AM otherwise the truck might get full. They open at 9 am . So glad this place is near my house in Daly City! read more

The worst rude and lazy employee ever! Told me where I should unload my donation and as I proceeded to do so...changed his mind and told me to parcel it out to several different bins not even bothering to help at all! Too bad for him I was prepared to offer a tip needless to say I didn't! I brought a lot of quality items and will NEVER donate here again! read more

Easy and fast. Highly recommend. Omg. I'll get photos tomorrow but seriously it's as organized as the drive through at in and out. These guys clearly know what donation to expect because they have the pallets ready to go with huge boxes labeled. With signs like housewares, clothing, shoes, electronics and a few more I missed. I called ahead to ask when I could make a donation. The woman who answered told me I could come before 5 o'clock. I got there at 4 o'clock, and was turned away. I feel like every time I go to a Goodwill anywhere there's like a 50% chance that they just won't except any donations read more

After several terrible experiences I won't be donating here anymore. The employees have attitude issues, and they are never open the full posted hours. I always ended up having to make a second trip because l they say they are full or closed. I go to the Safeway in the same parking lot all the time and from now on I'm donating elsewhere. read more

I guess it depends on who is working the donation center but we went there yesterday to unload a car full of donations and had an awesome experience! So organized! You just drive right up, the folks that work there give you instructions on what goes in which bin and they let you unload while they supervise. Please keep in mind that a lot of us are home and cleaning out closets and garages so these bins fill up quickly! So they suggested coming earlier in the day bc if you go later, there's a good chance the truck may be full. If it's full, they won't be able to take your things so just go back the next morning. It is that time of year to gather up items for the year end tax deduction receipts. This Goodwill drop-off location employs the RUDEST old man. I thought Goodwill offered a training program to give people skills to get a job. Customer service and professionalism is a critical part of any job. Obviously this old geezer didn't go through the training program. Or maybe he did, but he flunked? He excels in having his hands in his pockets and playing pocket pool while rudely barking - "I can not take that. Closed. Come back tomorrow." WTF? Goodwill, if you are reading this, please know that I will not be donating you anymore. There are far more other deserving organizations. Re-train this old geezer. read more

Very poor experience. We went to make a drop off at the donation center off Gellert Ave in South SF The workers could care less about customer service. Rude rude rude and zero interest in helping people. They were more interested in standing around smoking cigarettes. We got out of the car to put donations in bins when one of the workers finally said something. He said they were closed even though it was way before the posted close time of 2pm. He would not let us put anything in the bins even though there was room. This dude had zero skills and zero interest - no wonder he needs goodwill to help "job train" him. He needs a lot more help before he should be doing ANY PEOPLE INTERACTION. Total waste of my time and I have a car full of stuff these lazy workers would not take. Goodwill seriously????? I asked to speak to a manager and was told no managers work at goodwill. That's totally a lie and it was this lazy lazy lazy employee not wanting to lift a finger to do anything. Employee not doing his job. Got to the donation center 30 min before it closed and the man working refused to take anything we had to donate. Said the bin was too full. We saw inside...there was plenty of room if he did some work and rearranged a few things. Very sad he's turning away donations just because he doesn't want to do his job. I drove to the Safeway parking lot to drop off my donations. When I pulled up, one of the workers told me I couldn't park where I was, he said it was a drive through lane and wanted me to move to another lane. Nothing was marked as a drop off lane, just some cones set up. Since there were no cars behind me, I quickly got out to unload. All three workers walked away and didn't bother to help me, which would have been quicker if they were concerned that I was parked in the drive through lane. They were happy to help another vehicle that pulled up next to me unload. Then two of the workers started yelling at me that I needed to move because there was someone behind me and I was blocking the drive through lane. The irony is, I would have already been gone if they had helped me unload my vehicle. They continued to harass me and told me I was stupid, one even said I was f-ing stupid. They continued to yell at me as I was leaving. I wasn't even able to drive away, I had to park because I was shaking from them yelling and swearing at me. I went back and asked their names, one said Luis and the other wouldn't give me his name. I have never been harassed like this before! Even if the workers were having a bad day or hate their jobs, that is no excuse to treat anyone the way they treated me. Goodwill doesn't have the best reputation, but I give to them to help others. Needless to say, I will be donating to another charity from now on. read more

Please realize that this is a box type truck (like a moving truck) parked in the open at the south side of a Safeway parking lot and not a Goodwill Store. That said, with a big question mark in my head, pulling into where GPS said to go, I was attentive and lucky enough to find the truck right after entering the parking lot - it is not very well indicated (no highly visible signs) - there are cones set up to be like a drive thru with people helping to unload (though they really do not want to help much - better to do yourself anyway). There are large 3ftx3ftx3ft cardboard boxes marked with categories to sort items into. All in all a fairly simple process for someone who proactively looks for where to go and what to do and who has presorted everything (categories like: clothing, electronics, toys, kitchenware, etc. - the usual categories one finds in a Goodwill Store). If a tax deduction receipt is desired the people there will help you out - I overheard one saying it would be emailed (or something like that) - I did not need a receipt myself. read more
