I'm glad that this is the only place near my house that I'm comfortable donating old items without wasting them. You just have to go to the parking lot in the back of the store and you'll find Goodwill employees with large bins that can happily take your items. This is a decent Goodwill location if you're looking for standard, predictable pricing rather than the "boutique" markups some stores have moved toward. The selection is heavily weighted toward women's clothing, with a smaller section for men. While the inventory was decent, I did have a bit of a hard time with the store's environment. There is a very noticeable "thrift store" smell that clings to the clothing and the air inside. It wasn't as bothersome when I was in the store but it bothered my nose for about two hours after I left. read more

Boy did they clean up. The place got a facelift. It is better organized and cleaner. The thing with Goodwill, is you are shopping the casts off of the very neighborhood. The Sepulveda Goodwill, for example has better brands. I shop here because it's close and relieves my desire to shop without breaking the bank. I almost always find something wonderful. I frequent the orange & Santa Ana locations but wanted to try this one out today for the first time . The other ones all have a nice clean smell to them and so do all the clothing , but this store doesn't have that scent . That's not a big deal but something I noticed right away. I know I'm thrifting but the nice scent makes scavenging through peoples donated stuff more pleasant . I rate this store 3/5 . I did find some great deals today but not the kind of good stuff I usually find at the other locations . Sadly I probably won't be back to this location , I like the other ones better . And the area isn't so great . I wanted to try this location bc it seemed to have a higher rating than the rest but honestly I don't know why . It's not as clean as the other stores or organized . I am so happy that there are 3 stores in HB and another one close by in Fountain Valley. Always treasures to find here. I like that these stores get new merchandise also. My favorite location is Magnolia as I have been going there for over 20 years. Their houseware section is large and fun to take time and really check things out. I shop here religiously once a week I come every morning on Tuesdays. The items are in great shape tons variety from knickknacks to linens to clothing and the pricing is great. Unfortunately, there has been numerous times I have had to deal with a female at the register named Huyen . She has always been rude and made comments. Like " i don't know your number !" When I barely got a sentence in to let her know the system wasn't letting me punch in my phone number. She doesn't assist with putting my stuff in a box doesn't even offer a box just stands there the last time and assumes im just taking my things out without box or bag. I was super excited to come back because I found an item i LOVED so much. Though, today I was browsing at a section of clothes and a green jacket fell off due to a bended hanger. I must confessed I contemplated on walking away but I was still in the aisle. The security at the door immediately yelled at me "PICK IT UP!" While I admire his effort to help the staff keep the place clean, I absolutely did not like the way I was screamed at. I wished he had asked me nicely and I would gladly abide by his words. On Sunday, October 12, around 5:00 p.m., while I was shopping, I observed a manager behaving in an extremely unprofessional manner toward her employees. She has curly hair and was acting in a way that made her staff look uncomfortable and disrespected. From what I saw, she spoke down to her employees rather than offering guidance or support, and her tone and attitude showed a lack of professionalism expected from someone in a management position. It appeared this might not have been an isolated incident, as the employees seemed used to being treated that way whenever she was on shift. A manager should set a positive example, lead with respect, and create a supportive work environment--but her behavior did the opposite. This kind of attitude brings down morale and reflects poorly on the store's reputation. I believe this situation should be reviewed by HR or upper management, and appropriate action should be taken regarding her unprofessional conduct. Other than that all employees were respectful and helpful thank you to all that helped me with my stuff (except for that manager) read more

Average experiences at this location: 4-star Today's experiences at this location: 1-star is too generous. In short: they don't honor the labels on the item or the sale signs they hang themselves. The customers in this store are treated far worse than the minimum standard. I stopped at my local Goodwill, where I surely visited at least one time a week. While easy to understand that the store does not have any Black Friday Deals, it is worth the recognition for their 50% sale of Toys and Linen, and 2 for a dollar for Halloween candies. It's clearly a positive thing that they did. There are many great deals today, however, this is one of the rare times that large retail stores, don't honor their own signs, labels, and their own commitment. It's far less than the normal services that customers deserve to be treated. I was shocked at how customer service in this place is far less than in some small and local stores. The first issue is the item itself was labeled as "Toys", the cashier refused to do the sale price, at first, for "maybe some kids changed the label", and lastly, "we have mistakes when sticking the labels". With the highest respect, while the label firmly on the items, with the wrong not belong to your customers, the least I expected is to honor the labels on the items. Your employee's mistakes are not your customer's false. The cashier also attempts to use a knife to remove the label on the item after firmly refusing to put it on sale price. It is shocking that they do this that smoothly like they this that on a daily basis. The second issue is the corn candy box. These items are in the lines that have the sale signs and also in their enormous boxes in the middle of the store also contains. They refuse to do the sale price, which firmly states that it is not "Halloween candy". The lack of sense, not only for me, but the other customers at the different cashier stalls, and many people left the items back in confusion, and of course, furious. I did not expect that a store belonging to a national store chain could publicly fool their customers like that. Worth noting that the other two loading employees inside clearly told their customers that that item was also on sale. With the recent experiences of this Goodwill location and the new Brookurst Goodwill, I highly suggest that OC GW improve the customer services at their current stores rather than trying hard to open new locations with much worse and worse customer service. The employees' attitude is good, but the store must instruct and let them handle situations much better. Thinking about other minorities that lack the skills in English and the people in need, I am deeply sad to just briefly think about the unfair and horrendous treatment that they have faced when shopping as "a customer" in these stores when being looked at and treated as "beggars". I hope that I don't receive the "automatic" reply such as the lecture about the "92 cents" that is frequently turned on in the store. I don't even need to receive the reply if they are just apathetic comments that waste time for both sides. The acceptable reply should be to mention how they improved, not lecturing them. This used to be my holy grail goodwill, but it looks like we lost a bit in the modernization / renovation. 4 dressing rooms became 3, the dress section lost half a wall, most of the clothes are now just target rejects and fashion fashion (eg SheIn) and the nicnak section is really empty. One bonus tho, the men's section looks bigger. read more

Most of the other Goodwill's in the So Cal area have reopened the restrooms. So, then it becomes a "CHOICE"! C'mon, a woman and toddler needing help. I can see if the person asking for the facilities is homeless and wants to bathe in there! But, you can tell your customers apart from those that are not shopping. This location makes me really sad. A woman with bare feet came in needing shoes and no mask. She was frantic and expressed urgent need to get shoes. She was told she can't come in with no mask and cannot purchase any shoes that's worth the one dollar she was waving to prove she had intent to buy. The woman who seemed to who may be the manager finally gave her a spare mask and probably calmed her down with a quiet offer discount. Who knows, I didn't hear. When I was about to pay a cashier said she can take me in as I had been standing in front of them looking to see who was available for quite some time. The two ladies behind the counter didn't look like they minded anything but their conversation. When one finally acknowledged me she said, "I can take you here. But, oh I have to take that man over there because he's in line." I was confused. I am the only one in this area in the last 3 minutes or so. I looked to the side and see a man and his wife. But they just got there. I'm like, fine. I supposed it had to be the actual line maze thingy that I had to stand in to be taken in-- despite that no one was there when I had been trying to get their attention. So technically I was first amongst nobody. After my purchase I went to my car to get my donations. I was told I had to drive to the back. The side that was in the plaza to enter the back had the gate closed. I parked and I went inside with my bags again and asked if they can receive them due that I could not access the back lot. I was told they couldn't because I had to drive to the other end and do it. This trip to this location was frustrating!! If I had to keep going back and forth with all these bags, I'm gonna go nuts. These were lightweight donations and I did not need any receipts. I end up using my energy to write a Yelp review instead of driving out of the plaza to go to the back. I'll just donate to another location where, hopefully, has more friendly people and easier access to the back. Because, these bags are sooooo feather light, it could whisp someone into the air. All this pushback just reinforced that notion that Goodwill really isn't much focused on goodwill but on profit. Also---Goodwill, why are you trying to be the freaking DMV? It's really sad that the Goodwill has hike the price so dramatically on donated items.. people go to the Goodwill with the intention of getting something for a reasonable price. Review is for the donation process only. Getting to the donation area is a bit awkward. If you pull into the Goodwill strip mall lot you would intuitively try to circle around the lot to the back of the store to drop things off but you'd be wrong. Dead wrong. JK I just always wanted to say that, but you would be incorrect though. No, here you have to pull out of the lot, drive down the street a bit, then turn into a small driveway with rather confusing signage. It says turn right but there is tape on the right if you follow that literally. Then it says to turn left but there is more boundary tape. I get what they meant but the directions made it more confusing. Basically they want you to do a roundabout with the center cone. Once there the attendant was nice enough. Rather cheery actually! Love/Dislike this location. For the most part this Goodwill location has a really GREAT selection of clothing and shoes for the WHOLE family that's fairly neat and well organized. I have to say buyer beware of the housewares/toys/electronics/sports and random everything else section! Enter at your own risk. This section makes the anxiety/OCD go through the roof. The shelves are very close together so it's crowded and hard to navigate around and people often leave their carts at the end of the row because there's no space to comfortably shop with them in the tight rows. You'll consistently find empty boxes, spills and messes, lots of broken items, total disorganization and no visible effort to organize this area. It's a messy wasteland and waste of time. Go for the clothes and shoes. Skip the no man's land of broken clutter. read more

I mean, not only does it make drop-offs super convenient and easy--directly behind the store, its drop-off entrance right off Katella, and there's parking!--but each and every attendant who has been working the back has been helpful and incredibly nice! So, wait... You mean that I not only get to drop off my unwanted items--what clutter, junk, and rummage I'd like to wash my hands of--but I'm also getting assistance in doing so and a smile to boot? I just recently started going to this store again and I will stop again because of the same issues. I shop on Mondays (its my day off work) and EVERY Monday they are already pulling the "Color of the Week" tags. It really should be called the color of the WEEKEND tags. Once the items are pulled they wont let a customer look through them. When I mentioned it to the person at checkout I was lectured about how its a big store and they are helping the community because they allow "challenged" (her word not mine) people to come in and do the pulling. I dont care who is pulling the items at least wait until Wednesday and let the color of the week last for at least 5 days. I've lived in the area for over 12years, trust me when I say, I donate ALL the time... The first and last time I decided to actually go inside with my husband and browse at this location, we found the perfect curtain for like $1.50 or something like that! I've been looking for something like it so I HAD to get just this one thing !! Unfortunately, I had a phone call at the register so I didn't notice when apparently one of the two woman checking us out was being very ignorant with my husband. Insinuating we somehow put that price on the item! The other smaller kinder woman noticed there was no way we did that and according to my husband, was politely contradicting what her coworker was saying and complementing "the great find we got".
