Ugh. This location is not worth driving to donate items . Unfortunately , the staff is inept and what you can drop off changes from day to day . It seems that one needs to call this particular drop off location the day of to see what they can take or not ...THAT DAY. Common sense and courtesy would be for those that do not call would them to post a sign or whiteboard for those driving in what they cannot take that day . That saves time for the persons dropping things off and unloading items off their vehicles and then having to put them back into their vehicles because they were verbally told that. Oh, and when you do drive up , you have to get their attention because they are so unaware of their surroundings . No common sense or common courtesy . I will never drop things off at this location again. There are several other organizations worth looking into . San Diego is has many. read more

Although this Goodwill location may be smaller than others, it is definitely packed with gems. Their clothing section is fantastic! Every time I've gone, I've had fantastic finds at great deals. I know the prices here are higher than other Goodwills in SD county, but the finds are kind of worth it (definitely depends on the items). They are quite organized and clean and have a large collection of books! They do only have one dressing room to try on items and the parking lot is quite small and busy, but besides all of that it's great! read more

Bad customer service can sometimes ruin your day. I was excited to do some thrifting and realized the store was closing soon, so one of the girls was nice enough to let me try on a few things quickly before leaving. As I was quickly trying on a few things, (in consideration of the store closing), the male worker knocked loudly on my door and rudely yelled at me to "hurry up!!" after I had only been in there for 1 minute... I just didn't appreciate that & It got me in such a bad mood that I forgot to say thank you to the nice lady :( If you work in hospitality, just be a kind person because you don't know what people are going through. I'm slowly realizing that thrifting in San Diego is more like boutique shopping. This Goodwill location is not your standard (Goodwill) thrift store with low prices. Everything is marked up and expensive for a "thrift store". When I saw a rack of overpriced ugly Christmas sweaters, I already knew everything else was going to be pricy. Ah, such hidden gems. Thrifting is one of my favorite hobbies. The antiques you can find OR oh la la...the high dollar ticket items that shock you by still having the tag on them. How fun, right? Ya just never know what you are going to get. Extremely organized. Lots of furniture pieces out front. Small, on the small side of stores for GoodWills, however, I was amazed at how they packed everything so tight in there. I will say, I have gone to ALL the Goodwill's in ALL of North County and this location is by far the most expensive one. It was a bit shocking to see the ticket prices on SOME things but rest assured, some things were mind boggling so affordable. For example, we got an awesome end table for $12 and a brand new tommy bahama pet bowl feeder for less than $25! TAG STILL ON IT!! So in general, I am so happy, she can't complain.. I found so much good stuff. I noticed they had a lot of great active wear for women, I spotted a lot of LULU stuff..to all my LULU peeps. The bookstore side was by far like a barnes n noble, wow. We left with a lot of new treats. Once you are done shopping, go grab a coffee right across from the entrance and you will see a picture of my baby Pumba boy on the coffee shop wall! read more

The prices here are the same as just shopping online or at a regular store. They do not have lower prices. Some things are even higher than what you can find online or just at any regular store. Unbelievable. A young guy who works at the cashier told a lady who works there to get me. I was on the parking lot in front of my car. They run outside and said where is the dress.Wow!!! So pity and yet rude. I said check first before you ran and assuming that I did something. Why? Cause I'm color???? Rude without thinking first. They just run and check on me without double check the item in the store. Wow!!!! Never ever in my life I had this experience. How rude!!!! Not cool at all!!!!!. I was going to come inside and have a talk with the owner/manager but...I decided to be cool and not letting this experience ruining my day. It's not worth my time after all. This is primarily a bookstore, not a full scale thrift store. It's very small compared to most thrift stores I've been in. It does carry some home decor and has a few specialty clothing items (think cocktail dresses, shoes, and a few unusual hats) While you can find a good selection of books for adults and some for kids, I wouldn't call it extensive. It does appear that some schools and libraries tend to clear out their over stock and donate it here. So you can find nearly complete sets of specific book series. I do take issue with the pricing of merchandise. It seems to be overpriced, compared to comparable shops. Many basic books are $.99 but if it's a hardback or more than 40 pages, expect to pay anywhere from $3-12 on average. Also, some prices are marked higher than the original retail tag.... Strange? There's also a number of items that it seems were marked without any regard to the current market... (a pack of 25 tea lights from Wal-Mart marked at $4.99!) We know that Encinitas is a higher end market, but I truly believe the store could be more profitable if it priced items closer to the actual value. read more

This isn't your typical Goodwill store. It is very small, mostly books, CDS and household decor, a bit of jewelry, occasionally a few clothing items, or at Halloween some costume items. However, I stop in now and then, and always seem to find something I love. I stopped in yesterday, to see if they had any Christmas decor I couldn't live without. The gentleman working there was exuberantly friendly and helpful. I am using one crutch, because I'm getting over a broken ankle, and he ran anything I wanted up to the front counter, then - without me asking helped me get everything to the car. He couldn't have been kinder or nicer. Again, it's not your typical Goodwill, but it is clean, well organized and the household items they have are a cut above most Goodwill stores. read more

Early this morning, I started a job where it requires very tough labor doing demolition on a patio deck. I was dispatched to go to another job where I would need to be dressed, appropriate for an interior design store, and help out moving and delivering items.. since it was short notice, I was drenched in sweat, jeans, dirty, and in construction steel toe boots. I had a couple of options to go to Walmart or target to find a new set of clothes but instead I stop by the local Goodwill store and within five minutes I was able to find a shirt some shorts and shoes off for under $35. I let the staff know my situation, and her name was Liz and Liz asked if I had a place to change. I told her I did not, and she let me use the restroom to change into my new outfit. She welcomed me with smiles and helped my day go by 10 times smooth then it would have. I applaud her customer service and hope everyone gets to experience her attitude and personality... Liz even took a picture of me so that I can share this with you guys. Had to double make sure that this is a Goodwill. Theres not one book under $4. Average book price is $7 dollars. I went as far as to try to intercept a donation that was coming in- no luck. Good selection but you might as well buy them new or stick to your library. Being a student the most they could help me out with was .80 cents. read more

Worst Good Will ever!! They sell broken stuff and refuse to give you a refund. Customer service is incompetent and rude!

The staff here were super nice. There was even a dog chilling behind the counter which is a huge plus! But--- the books here are more pricey than what I'm used to at Goodwill Bookstores. I got two paperbacks for $3 each. I've gotten books for $0.50 at other Goodwills. Very small selection of clothes and non-book items but it's a really small location so that was fine. read more

Went to this little shop which is right next to Yummy Cupcakes last Sunday. It is curated to perfection. Mostly books, but one section has a lot of candles at reasonable prices. Picked up a 1950's-60's cocktail shaker/dispenser in almost new shape for $5.99 and a pink rubber coated 2 lb set of dumbbells for $1.99. These were both excellent deals. There are a number of display cabinets packed with carefully chosen jewelery and home items to peruse. There is sufficient parking and the number of spaces are plentiful. The gentleman staffing the shop this day was extremely pleasant and helpful. I look forward to going back, and you should check this little gem out! read more

This place.... What I am rating is for the hospitable ladies who were working OT night before Halloween for my last 10min (to close) costume shopping. It is more like a select shop of GoodWill, not typical warehouse full of consignment but good stuff. Price maybe a bit higher than of other large scale GoodWill stores but the people working here offer a great attitude and hearts! They are the worst BEST helpers to have made me the Dorkeiest tourist look for my company tourist theme costume!!!! Worst because I really felt walking in the WTH am I wearing and literally in my ugliest (remembee SHAPE UP?!) shoes!!!! Lots of details and lots of compliments to every single items picked by these girls. IDK if I should be pleased that they made me such dork- and I'm very... well WAS very single until showing up and stayed in this outfit all day bcoz after this look and potential exposed I will remaim SINGLE.... lol!!!!! Stumbled onto this place about a month ago. Love it! A large selection of books, they have it very well organized. It's in alphabetical order and then divided by genre. They have a large selection of children's books also. The staff was very friendly and make you feel comfortable. It's the perfect little shop to to browse when you have a free minute or two. They also have a few knick-knacks for sale. There's a student discount and military discount, I believe it was 10% but not 100% sure. If you want to drop off donations, you can do that around the back of the little shop. And they take all donations types, not just books. Highly recommend this location. read more

Beautiful store for a goodwill - everything is neatly organized and displayed like a gift store. I've found lots of items here - shoes, housewares, purse... but lately the prices have gone sky high - for donated items! They pay nothing for these items. Anything remotely designer has a high price - you can buy brand new for a little more on sale or cheaper used online. $50 for a Brighton bag used - cheaper online. $8-10 for shirts and $18 for a used tommy banana shirt! I think they are getting too far away from their original values.
