As a regular customer in the GoodWill of McKinney I'm disappointed in the Management at the McKinney location... 4 days without Air conditioning is ridiculous. Having NO AC in 85-90 degree weather is UNACCEPTABLE. Your poor employees are dripping sweat and having a difficult time working in these conditions as there are no Solutions being done; put fans out on the floor for your customers and employees! This is the 2nd day I've been shopping and see no resolution or urgency from Management to fix the HVAC. read more

Very disappointed in this location's recently revised donation process - it takes SO!!! LONG!!! They've streamlined the traffic flow & cleaned up the mounds of donations that used to be piled all over the parking lot, but there are NOT ENOUGH DONATION WORKERS! The last 3 times I've dropped off items, I've sat in line for *at least* 45 minutes waiting for my turn to be served. They only allow one car to donate at a time, & there's only been one Good Will employee to help, which causes the line to become VERY long & slow! It's become too much of a hassle to wait in line here, so next time I'll donate to Samaritan Inn's INN STYLE store instead - it's further away from my house, but they process donations MUCH faster! read more

Saturday 11/29/25 early afternoon. Older guy with glasses who was the only one working the donation line was embarrassingly rude. I noticed one man in the line unloaded his stuff by himself. We offered to unload ours but he barked at us and refused and sent us on our way. I have shopped and donated to this Goodwill for years and never encountered such an attitude. It would be helpful to place a 'not accepting donations at this time" sign so that people don't waste their time in line. The other employees there are polite and helpful. read more

I've lived in McKinney for two decades. One consistent thing is how rude this location is in their donations area.

They do have a decent collection of clothing (some name brand). Didn't really see anything under $4. They had a bit of furniture, some still in the box. The bad thing was the cashier. I found a bag that didn't have a tag, and I asked how much it would be. She said it was $10 (it had stains here and there). When I declined getting it, she gave me an ugly look. I was getting a couple of shirts, so I asked for no plastic bag (I brought my own), and she said okay and put it in a bag. Not a big deal, until I asked if she could just put it in my bag, and she just gave me another ugly look and said she already put it in there. read more

Unbelievably over priced & not organized. I've been donating here for months & finally had time to go inside. Yikes!!! The store resembles something like what you would see on that show Hoarders when they are trying to organize. Literally piles of stuff on shelves that you have to dig through to actually see what is there. I watched two guys dragging an armoire across the "show room" & completely destroy the base. This is not the most awesomest thrift store in the McKinney are, but it does have a pretty large selection of shirts. NOTE, that I said shirts. There are not a lot of options for business shirts, jackets, or pants. If you're looking for some cheap shirts to wear around then it's a good place to stop. They also pretty often tag their clothes with different colored plastic things and then the already cheap shirt in your hand becomes even less expensive, HURRAH! I'm a huge fan of thrift stores and so I'm cool with the fact that you might need to spend an hour or two (or three) to find the good deals, the stuff that fits your style and fits your body too. No thrift store is magically organized by the "This is your section", heck, most of the time the sizes aren't even in the right places, but if you're willing to spend the time you can definitely get some good deals. Absolutely Heartbreaking. In February, I pulled up to donate clothes/appliances. They had piles among piles of donated stuff outside just sitting there. TONS of items left out to the elements. I understand if there was a large influx of donations but they need to hire more staff and have them stored in units. Corporate should really do something about this location. This is bad. read more

I had to experience it for myself to believe that Goodwill had become so picky about what they would take! NEVER AGAIN They rejected a beautiful solid oak entertainment center because one side was missing the cardboard backing. I bought it without the backing! Refused a perfect TV with the remote. The main cashier doesn't wear her mask.. the clothes are usually not the best choice, and if the employees think it should be higher priced, they use a sharpie and it stains the product. First of all there shouldn't be any shoes, sneakers or boots in a Goodwill store that cost $50! In a low income neighborhood.This store is over priced and the staff is RUDE! During the Christmas holiday week I took my 3yr old grandson here to pick out a toy that I could afford, he found a toy that he had to have and because it didn't have a price tag on it the cashier said he couldn't have it....I asked to speak to a manager and was told also by the manager that she couldn't sell it to us without a price tag....well, help me understand what a manager's job is there to do??? I saw some angry comments comments from potential donors about Goodwill not accepting donations. To see if they were accepting donations I called them (5:30 on a Saturday). I was told, "Yes. We are accepting donations up until 9:00 today." Drove over arriving at 6:15 only to find that they stopped taking donations at 6:00. Was told to come back another day. I was once an employee at this particular facility. I worked the donation drop off area. I never had any issues whatsoever with any customer or employees. That was not until the Retail manager Shelly started working there. This manager did everything imaginable to make my life miserable by stealing things that were in my personal area at work to creating lies. It's been 4 months since I worked there and I've been going through my rough patches. I am currently homeless but thankfully own my car ; and being I had to leave the comforts of my home I decided to donate some things I couldn't keep with me. As I was donating my belongings I stopped to chat with some of my old coworkers. (It was brief chat and I wasn't in the way of others donating. Miss (if she deserves such title) decided to complain about me and called EVERYONE IN CORPORATE (mind you her mommy is the director of the retail stores of north Texas) I then find out that they said I'm not allowed on the property at all...I am dumbfounded that #1 I donated my things to be treated such way....the name of facility is Goodwill....but I don't see no good will there ... I donated and am homeless and was pleasant ; so how and why is this even ok??? In the end I will share that her management skills are horrible...many times I've seen nobody at register nor in the front of store while customers are shopping. Including the time she felt it was more important to try to shoo me than to tend to her customers. Shelly you are very ugly inside and God himself will show you the errs of your way. Best Goodwill in D/FW is this one. Not saying it's the best thrift shop, vintage shop, etc, but out of all the Goodwill's? This one takes the cake. Maybe because it's the headquarters too? Not sure, but I always seem to find awesome things at low prices here. And they have "tag" discounts for various colors on various days, so that's fun. The employees are super nice, but one factor I've heard over and over from them is complaining about how management doesn't do anything. They sit on their bums and watch the employees work. Not sure what can be done about that, but from a customer standpoint, it's really not all that bad. I mean, you can't expect perfect. It's Goodwill. Oh, and by the way, Goodwill is NOT a charity. Everyone at the top makes a ton of money and the employees do not reap what they sow. Just a head's up on that aspect. read more

Tried to take a nice solid wood table with 6 matching chairs here was turned away by the store manager Chris before it was even unloaded. This is not the first time I've been turned away for a good solid piece of furniture. They had tons of junk stacked up as donations but turn away a great family size dining room table, and you wonder how they stay a for profit organization. read more

I guess I'm the only person who can't seem to find anything? I will say, they do have a great selection of dinnerware, and nick-nacks by the entrance. As for clothes, they don't carry any vintage at all (I've looked many times), it's mostly shirts (like the previous reviewer stated). I came here because I started a new job and needed a pair of black pants and a nice dress shirt. I found what I was looking for in about 20 minutes (for under $10). I then browsed around for a bit, and couldn't find anything worth buying. It's all everyday clothes that you would find at Walmart or Target (their brands). I did find a nice Ann Taylor dress and jacket for $6.00, too bad it wasn't my size. They do have a large selection of jeans. I'm not a denim person. This place is way over priced and the stuff isn't even in good condition. There is a lady named Shelly that is so rude when I was asking questions about the prices the tag said 1.99 and when I asked her she bumped up the price to 3.99 and it wasn't even worth 3.99. They don't seem to put any good stuff in store they probably keep the good stuff so corporate can take it to sell it themselves on eBay and keep that money for them selves. The only people that were kind were the people helping take my donations one in particular was a lady with short hair that was so sweet and helpful I haven't seen her there in awhile but they need more people like her she was very nice and seemed to be the only one working hard. read more

The cashier girl in the camouflage print jacket was super friendly and prompt with ringing my stuff out. This Goodwill is massive and has stuff more organized than any thrift store I've been to before. The only downside is 90% of it was clothes. Not much home decor or trinkets as expected. They have a great selection of Christmas themed stuff, I recommend going if you need cheap ornaments and decorations. Now's the time! I went into McKinney Goodwill in search for a 70's style costume for an upcoming party I am attending. I found the groovy shoes right away, then went searching for an outfit that matched the shoes. I was amazed at how organized and clean the store was. They have all of their shirts, tank tops, dresses in color coordinated order on the racks. It was very easy to find what I was looking for. I came out of the store with an entirely groovy outfit for less than $15. read more

Very slow check out. The cashier was working through the first customer asking her if she wanted every single clothing item by holding up the item, stating the price,and asking the customer if she wanted the item. The customer would apply in the affirmative every time (because this was check out). The cashier would fold the item and set it aside and do the same process again with the next item. Another cashier walked up and rather than opening another check out line, she went to help sort the customer's items before handing it to the cashier to ring up. After seeing this process for each item and seeing that there were two other customers with 5 to 7 items each, I decided to put back my one item and leave. Very disappointing. Will not be returning to this goodwill. read more
