The donation center has been closed for weeks by the fire dept. Why don't they take some of the donations to other facilities? Ive got like 10 bags of new, almost new, clean clothes. It'd be a,shame to have to throw them out but the bags are taking up space. read more

Dropping off my donations of electronics, and clothing, and odds and ends. So easy to do. I just drove up to the donations door and barely had myself out of the vehicle when Michael came to assist. This used to be one of my favorite GW locations. Now it's probably my least favorite. For such a large store, their inventory is bare and very picked over. I'm not sure if it's because people aren't donating or if new stuff gets bought up fast but whatever it is, the inventory has really shrunk from a few years ago. I did come across 3 really cute items... the floral pitcher which is a piggy bank was marks $14.99. Outrageous!!!! I will definitely stop in the next time I'm in the area with hopes of seeing a fuller store. read more

We stopped in, while exploring the area. The facility is clean and well-maintained; with a variety of items to browse. Overall, this is a decent representative of the brand. One can never predict what one may find at a Goodwill; but if one enjoys the "hunt", this location is a good option. read more

I dropped 3 bags of items off at the Wappingers center. I went into the store and bought a few things. With this new type of shopping it is difficult for a 86-year- old to handle cane, cart, pocketbook, etc. I placed items in car trunk and then climbed into my car mistakenly leaving my cane in the cart. It wasn't missed until I got home. I tried to make contact without success. The next week I went to center and there was my cane on the right side of the entrance. I noticed it had a green price tag of $9.99. I took it to the counter and said I had found my cane. They wanted me to purchase, and when I refused suggested I make a donation. Where is their Goodwill, common sense, and humanity when dealing with customers? There's no lost and found. They find it they keep it. I'm bummed to see so many negative reviews of the store that gave me of the best thrift shopping experiences in recent memory today! This Goodwill is huge, well maintained, and has a varied and unique stock that includes everything from modern designer pieces to vintage clothes from the 80's and 90's. Yes, like other reviewers have said, the clothes are a bit pricier than your average thrift store, but those prices pale in comparison to what they would be in a vintage store. I found an awesome high waisted polka dot skirt in fantastic condition from the 80's, and it was $6. Normally something of this quality would go for $40 in a vintage shop, so I wasn't complaining. Some of the pieces are hit or miss, and I will hand it to reviewers that some of the pricing was a bit high for some items, but if you have the time to pore over racks upon racks of clothing and you love the thrill of finding a great piece after a long search, you'll love shopping here. The customer service was great as well. Jeffrey at the register was personable and outgoing, and kept the long line moving even though he was the only one there. There is also ample parking, as it is located in a strip mall off of the bustling Rt. 9. I look forward to coming back soon and finding my next hidden gem piece! read more

When I travel, if I come across a Goodwill I typically will stop to see what they have and make a purchase. I always find something for the home, reasonably priced, and worth the purchase. Not so at the Wappingers Goodwill. I do not understand why they price the donated for free items as if they were new at the department store! Some items I recognize from the local dollar store, and are priced higher than new at the dollar store! Their response will be they give their employees a fair wage, they are helping the community, etc, etc, which is as it should be, but they received everything in the store for free and should price more reasonably for used items. Why do other Goodwills price more reasonably than Wappingers when surely their community goals are the same? The price gouging at this store makes no sense and is prohibitive. read more

This particular site always gives me some type of excuse when I bring donations. If I bring clothes they don't need anymore, if I bring toys they don't except toys, if I bring curtains they don't except curtains it's always something about them not excepting. I've noticed that when I walk in there, there's 5 to 4 employees that are playing with their cell phones and seems like they don't wanna work. These donations are to help families with the money they received and they just turn it away because the employees don't want have to do any work. read more

I feel like every time I come here, they tell me something different. One time I stopped by with books and appliances and they told me they don't take books anymore. Then the next time I was there, they told me that they only took books and not clothing. It seems like most people who come here use Goodwill as a dumping ground and it takes a long time for them to sort through everything but at the same time, not having pre-established rules in place makes it a bit confusing. They don't pick up the phone when you call either, so you just sort of have to show up with a box or two full of stuff and roll the dice. read more

I don't know why but this one goodwill location is by far the highest priced one I have ever shopped in. It's almost as if the local manager or pricer wants the items to be sent to a Goodwill bins location? When this location runs a color of the day discount it's only 40% off (as opposed to 50% in Westchester County). Media is priced through the roof for used ! T-shirts are just local deli or churches donations nothing to really write home about read more

This Goodwill has changed from what it was years ago. There seems to be a lot of the same clothes. It could be assumed based on this that some of the clothes come from liquidations which would explain the increased prices. On the other hand, the non clothes items are also more expensive. I saw an old CRT monitor there for $50. They also added a security guard; a good thing. On complaint I have is that not all items have a tag on them. This makes it hard to manage how much you want to spend; not knowing ow much your total is until it is rung up. Ultimately it is worth trip trip every few months. read more

This GW is disappointing plan and simple. Between the staff and their "company policies" I think a lot of them are power hungry and do not treat their guests with respect. This has occurred through small gestures that have added up into me writing a little angry review now. I will tell friends and family to take their business to a much cleaner, respectful and pleasant consignment shop located in Plesant Valley. Like Goodwill's in general, the prices here are on the higher end. Clothing selection is not too bad with a decent range of newish stuff to some older/rarer items - but have to search for them. General merchandise is hit or miss. Good selection of glassware, old silverware, some interesting old appliances from time to time. Lps, CDs, and cassette selection is sometimes worth a browse. Have to say though, as far as Goodwill's go this is actually one of the better one's on selection and pricing. Best find here: Weed jeans... I mean c'mon. read more

But I have come here now three times to drop of toys, children's clothing, books etc. Each time, I kid you not, they turned me away saying they had enough children items. It's probably more than ten years ago since I shopped here but I'm a lifelong fan of the Goodwill business model. I'd rather make the drive from Beacon to Wappingers so they get my donations rather than put things into those shady donation boxes you see plopped everywhere. It's been a loooong time since we'd made a donation. Not that we haven't been piling stuff up in the garage over the years. I finally attacked the growing pile and after throwing out anything that wasn't sale-able I came up with 10 garbage bags of clean, folded clothes. Off to Goodwill...... I was blown away by the level of attentiveness, courtesy and genuine thankfulness that I was shown by the young woman who greeted me. Not only did she heartily welcome me, she held the door for every trip I made from the car and thanked me profusely for my donation. She was real and during my short time there I saw her extend the same warm courtesy to two other donors. Hats off to her and to Goodwill. I wish I'd gotten the young woman's name. I was there on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at about 2:30PM. Many of us - especially those with growing children - have clothing and other items we no longer use or want and that still have life in them. Don't throw them away. Allow them to be put to good use and bring them to a charity thrift store near you. If you're in Dutchess County, NY near Wappingers Falls you can't do better than Goodwill. read more

This store has MUCH to be desired Not judging WHY, but in comparison to the many others i've been too 1. Mens shorts $5.99 and Up, yet $4.28 and no higher at all the others 2. Mens shorts are not divided/sorted by size and no dividers to indicate 3. All the big signs say all mens shorts $5.99 but then plenty are $8.99 and UP 4. This location has it's pros and cons. This location is lucky enough to have one of the most pleasant cashiers I have ever encountered. He always is pleasant and professional! He also is wonderful when it comes to customer service ( this guy should manage the place!) Now for the cons... wow these prices are sooo high!! I'm not sure who is in charge of the pricing, but I think that many of the items are greatly overestimated. Also I noticed that there are no longer 50 percent off days ( now only 40) the donation center has greatly improved (a very nice young lady in the back who always says thank you and is super pleasant, but she's not always there, so donor beware you may get a snarl instead of a pleasant smile. Lower the prices and promote your better employees . I guarantee that the business will be even more profitable. read more

While I haven't shopped here, I've made plenty of donations. The donation entrance is rather unwelcoming, as items are piled everywhere in large bins - with seemingly no order about the place. Walking beyond the initial area will usually grab the attention of an employee who can direct you to where your donation should go. read more

I generally like this location, but - and I do not know whether this is a general GW policy or specific to this one - I hate that they separate out the matching pieces of suits, both men's and women's, and sell them individually. As was explained to me, they make less overall on the sales but may be able to move more articles. It's annoying to know that that great blazer probably had a great skirt that went with it but which likely got sold as an individual piece. Occasionally, I have been able to reunite pieces and get a bargain on a suit, which always feels like a bit of a win, but not often enough. read more

Closes at 6, doors locked at 5. Very disappointed in this service. When I tried to go in, one lady looked at me and rolled her eyes. If your are locking your doors at 5 you need to put online that your workers are too lazy to work until closing time. The store that got me into thrifting has had a giant drop in quality but still a place I visit every week. Location- Big parking lot. On Route 9. No complaints. Big building. *****/***** Selection- Whatever they get donated is their selection. But I feel like this location gets the most donations. There's a huge warehouse full of stuff just waiting to come on the floor. So always lookin forward to new items. However over the past year I have found the least amount of stuff since I started thrifting in late 2013. Hopefully this turns around soon. **.5/***** Prices- Wow, where to begin. Very inconsistent pricing. But mostly overly high. Let's dive right in. Once again I skip clothes and glass. Records are 1.49. Slightly high for a thrift store like this but given the vinyl resurgence no one should complain. CDs are 1.99, fair. Vhs is .99 (used to be 1.99) so that's alwaya good to see prices go down! DVDs are 2.99. Im wondering when these store will realize DVDs from 2000-2010 are essentially worthless and lower them to say 1.99. But people somehow keep buying them! All in all good prices! I have a few issues with this store " marking up valuable" music. Beatles anthology CD for 15 in the glass. Get real. Also this store was infamous for having a collection of video cartridges from the 80s but refused to sell them for anything less than 10 dollars each! Eventually they disappeared. The goodwill " corporation" is run like a scam in general in which I could literally write a book about but I'm writing this review because of a particular incident that occurred today. I go to coat selection pick out a coat that I really liked and the cost was $35 dollars. I proceed to checkout and it comes to my attention that the coat has a small hole in it on the side,it was hard to see initially because it was a black coat and to be honest I didnt examine the coat thoroughly when I picked it out. So the cashier tells me flat out that the policy is " it has to be thrown away" what? I even agreed to pay for the full price for the coat because I liked it so much but goodwill policy is that if the coat is ripped or has a hole it just gets trashed without any further explanation. Why? What is the point? Are they afraid that word will get around that damaged items can be discounted? I dont get it. Who made up these nonsensical rules? If any goodwill spokesperson happens to see this can you please explain why ripped or torn clothing cannot be bought at any price? Thx. read more

Went with a girlfriend of mine to purchase very large size clothing for another girlfriend of ours. Was very impressed with the choices we had and how IMMACULATE the store was. The customer service was impeccable! Bought a like new purse for our friend for $10.00, a skirt for $6.00, shoes for $7.50 and a $15.00 blouse on sale for half price ($7.50). I've found some good stuff priced well but furniture is very overpriced (you can find cheaper stuff at yard sales). I scored a cute windbreaker for my baby at $1.50 and I've found some nice jeans at $4. Not bad but make time to search for everything thoroughly. read more

I been shopping at this goodwill for many many years now. They usually have pretty good stuff. Although I went to good will today and noticed a security guard walking around, and thought to myself good maybe know items I look at may actually be inside the box. Nope I thought wrong. What people do is steal an item right out of the box and leave the box on the shelf. So when you think you just scored a nice item and you pick it up to find nothing inside the box. I don't understand why they don't just put the items that are worth more then $20 and small enough inside their glass cases. Anyways, the real reason I am writing this review is because I noticed that the security guard was following me around the entire store and eye balling me like I was some kind of criminal. As if I was going to steal something. I honestly think it's wrong that they have this guard dog type security guard watching your every movement and ready to jump on you for 1 false move. I think it's very unprofessional and I might not even come back to this location if it continues. They need to train their security guards a lot better because following people around and watch them from behind them is not a security tactical advantage to stop shop lifters. I myself have a security guard license and a college degree in criminal justice and know that it's not the way to deter shop lifters. It's wrong and degrading to honest good will customers like myself. I find it funny because I seen at least 3 or 4 expensive items missing from there packaging on the shelfs so obviously the security guard isn't doing his job properly. Shame on good will. read more

I have donated literally thousands of dollars worth of goods to the Goodwill for which I never even asked for a tax write-off. I will NO LONGER do so. Why? Because after being laid off from my job a few years back, I also became a customer. I was able to buy household items that I could no longer afford - as well as clothes for my job search. Lately, I noticed the shelves are barely filled and what IS there is almost entirely garbage. So, because I know someone who works there, I inquired, "What's up with the lack of items?" Well, it seems the company has become greedy. They now sell ANYTHING of value ON-LINE. I found this to be very disheartening and this is why. When I donate, I expect poor people in MY community to be able to walk into the store - OFF THE STREET - and buy a kitchen utensil, an electronic item, a knick-knack, a gift for a loved one, a toy that they could not otherwise afford or clothes and bring it home. I expect the price to be MINIMAL as THE MERCHANDISE is DONATED!! I do NOT expect to find dollar store items tagged at 3x the price I could purchase elsewhere. Lastly, our community's poor, disabled and elderly should NOT have to find access to a computer (many of whom cannot AFFORD TO OWN ONE) and then bid against higher bidders, use a credit card (or what have you) AND then WAIT FOR DELUVERY and then hope some "porch pirate" doesn't steal it. It was bad enough - all the rumors of greed that have circulated about Goodwill corporate CEO's through the years - but this takes the cake. I don't care what their response would be to my comnents "that they are making more money" by selling on-line now or what have you. The bottom line is, your store shelves are empty of anything decent now, but the smelliest of clothes, what IS on the shelves is garbage and you are no longer serving the community in the way that most who have donated think you are. So, I am finished donating. My charity is going now to The Red Barn out in Pleasant Valley, NY and the Nifty Thrift Shop in Fishkill. See ya Goodwill Industries read more

This store is a nightmare, I walked in and saw something that I really wanted. It had no price tag at all on the piece so I talked to the women behind the counter. She claimed to be the assistant manager and we settled on a price of 9.99. It had been a rough week and money was low and I said if it was still here later that day I was going to buy it. I went back after cashing my check and the assistant manager wasn't there I talked to a new women who told me the price on it was 99.99. I asked to speak to a manager who was to busy to speak to me and said she wasn't going to bother the assistant manager who gave me the price. I was bothered by the situation but left respectively. They thought they were to good for me, even though they take other people's stuff and sell mostly a boule retail. How is that suppose to be a deal. I will never go to a goodwill or contribute any of my belongings to them. Plus there an all profit company tax write off bunch of pieces of s*** who just screw people. You receive items for free and then decide to mark it the same that I can buy it new. Actually my item new was going for much cheaper on ebay still new in the original box. What a bunch of scam artists and I really wish I new who managed that store because she was so inconsiderate at least come out of your hole and talk to the customer. I wish I couldnt even give this place 1 star I would give it a negative star if possible. Well to anybody else reading this I hope this is enough to not give to goodwill anymore, let's give it to someone who actually needs it and won't resell just for a f****** profit. read more
