First time going to this store, it's got a good flow, very organized. With how the cashier area is laid out, It kinda reminded of going in a Best Buy but without the TVs and fridges everywhere. The cashiers were nice, it's a clean store they didn't have what I was looking for but I did find some knitting needles which was nice since I'm barely learning. The prices are reasonable for a good amount of the items. Those I wish everything had a price on it. I did find something I wanted but their policy is if it doesn't have a price tag on it they cannot sell it to you. (Not even wait to get a price, but it was end of night shopping so I understood) I did appreciate how the employee handled it being kind about it. Kindness goes a long way! read more

Please have corporate stop having you guys use toxic fragrance spray that's hurting our lungs and body. I saw what freshener they were using and it has very harmful heavy metals! Plus they spray it on the children's clothes. This stuff is bad as pesticides. Your lungs will hurt and anyone who has auto immune or asthma. issues, it will aggravate your lungs. For my husband who is healthy, his head was hurting so bad. I never do a one star either. :( read more

Bought some ceramics and Leo at checkout was so nice to help me wrap each one of them, and then William Chavez district manager was kind enough to help me carry them out to my car. Once again I have no idea why I bother coming to this location. Nobody here is friendly. All they do is greet you when you walk in. The workers just stand and stare at you without saying anything and expect you to get the hint to fck off. I paid with a big bill today and was shorted by 10 bucks. An example of what a Goodwill store is now: selling a lot of new, outlet type clothes at relatively high prices, in a setting that reminds of outlet or bargain stores. The set-up is also very similar to a TJ Maxx/Marshalls with well thought out displays, a large checkout area, multiple dressing rooms, security at the door to help prevent shoplifting and well organized racks of clothes. One interesting siting...first time I've seen 8-track tapes being sold at a Goodwill in the 2020's...have seen Vinyl, CDs, and DVDs, but first time 8 tracks (which were already going out of style by the time I was a child). Finding it was a bit of a challenge in that Apple Maps when following the directions for this place, told us to go into the OC Fair and Event Center (including the Costa Mesa Speedway). We had to switch over to Google to actually find this place. My wife did end up buying a couple of used articles of clothing after trying them on, and was happy with the experience. Interesting that we all came here to say the same thing. While the new Goodwill in Costa Mesa is absolutely gorgeous, I found myself a bit disappointed by their selection. The storefront was incredibly clean and organized, but the shelves were stocked with a selection of the same items sold at bulk. I personally go to thrift stores to find one-of-a-kind unique finds, and this felt more like shopping at a Marshalls or Ross. And while there's nothing wrong with either of those stores, it's just not what I signed up for. It's even more of a bummer when they're selling these items at $15+ a piece, making thrifting unaccessible to everyone. read more

I'd been looking forward to visiting this Goodwill for a while, and today I finally got the chance. My first impression was great: the store was bright, clean, and well-organized. However, when I found a pair of shoes I loved, they had no price tag. I was told that items without tags couldn't be sold until the next day. Despite asking if there was any solution, even after speaking to the manager, they stuck firmly to policy. I left disappointed and wasted my time, feeling like customer service and flexibility were lacking with no desire of elevating a customer experience. I visited this establishment, excited to experience it for the first time. There were well-staffed, clean, and organized. Staff were not friendly. I saw lots of SHEIN items sold for $13+ which was really surprising. That's more than those items sell for new. I also saw used Kirkland T-shirts priced $6 each; they sell new for only $5. Outside of some of the outlandish prices, I was able to find a couple of items I liked. One item in particular was supposed to be a gift. It had brand new tags, which made it a perfect gift for someone I love who is less interested in shopping second hand. It was meant to be a sort of, "you can find first hand clothing at a second hand store" moment to open up a broader conversation about fast fashion and living sustainably. Unfortunately, the cashier decided to remove this tag showing it was in new condition, and it just won't be a nice gift for that particular relative anymore. I'm pretty disappointed; I had no idea this was their standard as I have never experienced this at any other Goodwill location. I personally will stick a few other options of local secondhand stores. The OC Goodwill Boutique in Tustin has some items priced high(since it's a boutique) but they are much better quality than what I generally found at this location. They also don't remove new item tags, and staff are really friendly. This goodwill is not sorted by sizes.. you will spend hours trying to find items in your size and tags do not match accordingly to actual size on the item. Absolutely horrible!! Jackets $25 Prices are about $12 for pants and $7 for a shirt. Super high for a goodwill. read more

Dropping off a donation was easy peasy. Since I was already there & this location just opened, I took a walk around inside. The store was extremely clean and well organized by item type. Prices are clearly marked. I ended up getting two pairs of shoes in great condition and Native body wash. I would definitely return to this Goodwill location. San Juan Capistrano Goodwill, has the most friendly staff, starting with Sandra, the greeter. Her smiling face, and welcoming words, can always put me in the mood to shop. The store is always clean snd well stocked. I can always find something to put into my basket. And my home can attest to that! Unless you want broken and dirty items, I would not shop here Furious! Bought a dresser that I expected to have some normal wear and tear. I looked it over carefully. I paid for it and I went to pick it up. As the guy was bringing it out to my car, I realize when he picked it up which I did not do because it's a heavy dresser why would I try, the whole tub is coming off?.. They tell me they don't give refunds even on broken items and the best part is they put it back out on the floor!! I refinish furniture trying to repair the top of that would be an absolute nightmare and they tell me oh you just add a little glue. No it's not just a little glue. The entire dresser is ruined so I hope no one else goes back to buy it. I will never buy anything from Goodwill again. This is not the first time, but it is definitely the last time donated junkie items that are not even inspected or cleaned before they put them on the floor. For some reason because this place is new, I thought it would be better but it's actually worse than the one in Huntington Beach. read more

Thrift stores are supposed to be THRIFTY. But Goodwill pricing is out of control. You get your goods for free, even charging 25 cents would be a profit on that item. But if you look, you can often find the original prices for the items somewhere on them and find that Goodwill is charging MORE than what they were originally priced. That's not how thrift stores work. If it was $9 at Ross, it should be $2 at Goodwill. read more

It's strong enough to linger on clothes and make browsing a bit overwhelming, especially for folks with sensitivities. A very clean and organized store on their opening weekend. Unfortunately, this location is not very inclusive or welcoming for customers with sensory disabilities. This location makes an announcement on their intercom every time a customer makes a donation, which is quite frequently as employees ask if you'd like to round up to the nearest dollar at check out. If you are someone who gets overstimulated with frequent intercom announcements including cheering over a loud speaker that invites employees yelling and cheering in response from all throughout the store then you'll prefer a different goodwill location. read more
