While visiting Arizona, I came here with my husband and a friend who is local to the area. Because I had forgotten to pack my brand new snow boots (I know...), my husband's friend suggested that we check out Goodwill to see if I can find anything. But she did warn us that this locations often times inflate their prices, in which she nicknamed "greed-will". The day we arrived, it was snowing and a little windy. Definitely a cold winter day and not the best idea to forget your snow boots at home, in California. Anyways, with any thrift store, you just have to look and see if you find anything good or anything you are looking for in particular. There was a nice pair of black snow boots with little wear on it but was surprised to find that the pair was $25 at the register, as the item was not marked. I paid less for my new boots that I had purchased online (and my shoes were even thicker quality). But my friend did get a 20% off since she is a senior citizen so we were able to get a slight discount to save a little bit off (although later on I found out that there was a hole on the soul and really should have gone to purchase brand new show shoes... oh well, lesson learned... don't leave your snow shoes at home while on a road trip, during winter). We did purchase other items, which did seem better priced. So I am not sure what is the mindset of the prices marked in the store. Some toys and books that I saw were brand new and priced very cheaply (which I did ended up purchasing a few things) and then some items, like clothes were heavily marked up when clearly those items were worn. But just as my friend had told us, she has found plenty of great stuff at this Goodwill before and will often browse. And if she finds something that she wants, and if it is at a good price, she will purchase it. I think if we lived in this area, most likely I would come back to browse since I do like to thrift for my DIY projects from time to time. Please note that on the receipt, there is a 7 day return policy. But customers will only receive store credit that is good for up to one year, based on the date printed on the original receipt. If you return items without the purchase receipt or tag attached, you will only receive $1. Also returns are not accepted on discounted items, new or seasonal items. So purchase wisely. read more

I love to thrift. I love the sustainable fashion model that is emerging and making it easier to shop for clothes in a low-cost way without the high cost of "fast-fashion". That said, I have been watching the Goodwills of this area hike up their prices beyond what people will pay here. What happened to providing a place for people to have access to second-hand items at a reasonable price? I don't know who is pricing the clothing, but it is way off base. I have worked in fashion and retail most of my life and know what things are worth, but it seems that the pricing person here is really over-shooting prices. Lastly, I counted over 20 empty hangers in the women's medium short-sleeve rack, so it appears that customers are taking matters into their own hands by shoplifting what they can no longer afford. Just don't! These monsters are now contractors for the Veteran's Administration homeless program -- and they are horrific. The clothing they sell in their stores are full of parasites, molds and more, so figure out how to buy new and wash ALL clothing BEFORE wearing in vinegar, baking soda and a REALLY good enzyme detergent like Ecos. Goodwill used to be a good organization, now they are a harm to community and citizens alike. read more

My rating has ticked up 1 star in 2 years. I have continued to occasionally patronize this location. Prices are hit and miss. Sometimes you'll snare a really good bargain. Other times you'll just shake your head in disbelief and put the item back because it's so overpriced. For instance, while searching for a jacket for my granddaughter, I found a well-worn little girl's Walmart-brand hoodie for $14.99. I can get that at Walmart for that price or less. Color of the week is very hard to find. I think they pull almost all of them before shoppers can get them. They do offer senior and student discounts here. And every month I get a 20% off coupon if I spend $20 or more. The best reason to continue shopping at Goodwill is the selection. Other thrift stores have way better prices, but their selection is limited, particularly in children's clothes. The key is to be a savvy shopper and pick out the bargains amid the overpriced. read more

Historically I enjoy thrifting. But in the last bit I noticed Goodwill prices have gone so high it's no longer worth shopping! What a business model - they receive free merchandise from donations and resell it under the guise of being some helpful nonprofit! If you look into Goodwill they are a sham! Interesting visit last Saturday...We come here often. You know how it is sometimes with colored tags on sale...sometimesyou just can't find hardly anything with the colored tag of the day. Well, then Orange tags are 50% off...thru next thursday, when they will be $2 on orange tags. Now we know....saw employees today removing clothing from the racks, removing the hangars, filling up carts with the orange-tagged items and taking them to the back....and wouldn't you know it...they were ALL ORANGE TAGGED merchandise. read more

Extremely disappointed! Last time I went to this goodwill store to donate, I noticed an employee tossing nice porcelain plates into the dumpster behind the store. I assumed they were doing this because they didn't want a dumpster diver to find the plates or perhaps they were just idiots. This infuriated me to know that rather than give away the plates they opted to smash them into pieces. I am going to reconsider donating to Goodwill in the future based on this behavior. I have also noticed bad attitudes on the staff here when I try to donate. I generally donate at least thousands of dollars yearly in goods. read more

After waiting for about 5 minutes (all along, having eye contact with the employee chatting with another employee at the far register). Finally (without breaking eye contact with the employee SONJA), I interrupted their conversation with "Excuse Me" and Sonja continued her chat with the other employee. The woman working at the far end of the register asked Sonja if she was "on" and that is when she slowly walked over to the register. She was angry with me, an attitude that you could feel a mile away. I said "wow" and she shook her head , NO EYE CONTACT, just pissed off at me for interrupting her chat session with the other employee. I have gone to this Good Will since they opened. My review is for the Goodwill on Iron Springs Road in Prescott, AZ. The store itself is nice, organized, with a lot of choices. The cashier was Donovan. A unique individual. It appears he was bored and was attempting to brighten the day. It was a slow time of day. I didn't mind his antics sucks as a loudly exclamation in a German accent. Friendly staff, but I feel they need more staff members. At times the employees are swamped and have to answer the phone, well they are serving a customer, while you've got a manager behind the jewelry desk and someone needs to do a return. It's pretty crazy in there, but I do like the store a lot since a certain female upper management staff member left there some time ago. So here it goes! I love thrifting. I love getting a deal and getting more for my buck. I have been thrifting since I was just a little one. My family was very poor growing up and it was what my mother could afford. From there it gave me a passion for vintage and unique things. I try to pick thrift stores that also donate their profits. I typically make my own personal donations to woman shelters, recovery shelters, etc., so I hold a company who doesn't hoard their profits in high regard. With that said this thrift store aka goodwill, is the most outrageously priced thrift store I have ever walked into. I have picked up a dress with stains and rips that was $14.99. You can go get the same dress at a department store for $7.99. Yesterday I went in there and a woman was complaining that she couldn't even afford the goodwill anymore for her kids. I expressed go to Walmart. They are have a two tshirt for $5.99 deal. Moving forward this is my first attempt to make a difference. I know this thrift store is very busy, so what's the point in complaining or trying to make a difference. Cause when the difference is made, it feels worth it. Thrift stores are for the community. To give people a chance to survive, and something to brighten their day, with the small coin they have in their coin jar. Yes, it's nice that your proceeds do help another demographic, but your first and foremost thought should be the neighbors shopping. This won't be my first letter. This is just a start! read more

Can you say OCD? This place is GREAT! The books are super organized. Hard cover then soft cover then self help books then finances I was so impressed. Then the clothing is well organized by size AND COLOR!!!! Then the tchotchkes, and small items are bagged priced and hanging on a wall. Five stars for the store and the service, I always love it here and the employees are nice! However I came in tonight and there was a younger blonde girl who I believe was a manager was extremely rude! She clearly had attitude the second we walked in as it was close to closing time but we had no plans to stay past 9. There was a line at one of the registers as only one employee was on it. She sat next to the other register texting on her phone for a minute then called another employee up front and was extremely rude to him! She did nothing to help but sat on her phone then yelled at the other employee working and when he asked which register to go to she exclaimed "register one, you know the one you've been on all night!!" She spoke to him as if he was stupid!! It was demeaning!! Me and my family were very shocked by her attitude and the way she treated the other employees. read more

Goodwill - Community Service/Non-Profit Near Me - Prescott, Arizona

I love thrift store shopping! On my visit to Prescott Valley, part of my trip was to check out the thrift stores in the area. I drove to Prescott on a day, I had some time to kill on my trip. This is hands-down the most expensive, outrageously overpriced Goodwill I have ever set foot in! That is not an exaggeration. Used shirts from big-name retail stores, Walmart, Target, etc. selling for $12.99! A flimsy camisole tank top for $9.99! $24.99 for some rhinestone jeans. I guess they think they're still in style? I was scared continuing to shop in this place, due to the sticker shock every time I looked at a price tag. Not sure what this location is trying to prove, but what ever it is, it's ridiculous. Very bummed I wasted time in this place, as I found another thrift store in the area that was way worth my time. Take some hints from the Prescott Valley Goodwill, they were impressive, and a very nice store. read more

I've visited this GW store many times, and have spent a lot of money there. My last visit, a quest to buy an inexpensive dresser for my daughter was not a good experience. Never having bought a piece of furniture there, I didn't know that a "ticket" had to be written by an employee, you take it to the cashier, pay for it, and then they meet you 'round the back to load it. Sounds straightforward and easy. I approached a free cashier and told her I was interested in buying a dresser they had on the floor. She paged someone on the intercom to meet me by the dresser. The person that arrived didn't know what needed to be done, and walked away. I went back to the register, and the gal paged another employee to meet me. He came by, and I explained that the dresser was made in Thailand, and wasn't worth the $70.00 they were asking. (There was a solid oak reproduction desk nearby priced at $14.00). Since this item was beat up, had been painted, and further altered by adding a vinyl covered top, I asked if they could do better on the price? I was told no, they "knew" this dresser was made by "Ethan Allen"...(it was made by Eban Allen)...ok, forget that. I went back to the front, and asked the cashier how I may purchase this item....could I get a dolly and take it out the front? (Where my car was). This woman, who appeared to be at least 80 years old, began to berate me, and laugh in her hillbilly witch style, so as to denigrate me, saying "You can't take it out the front" "You gotta pay for it first, and it gets loaded in back!" I told her that this was her world, not mine and I just wanted to buy a piece of furniture. She continued laughing at me. The manager finally showed up, and my daughter tried to explain this woman's behavior, but ended up near tears in frustration. Sanity prevailed, when a young woman employee stepped up said she'd take care of the transaction personally. I know the people that work at Goodwill are mentally challenged. So you have to be patient. This bizarre, bad attitude, confronting woman at the front desk was probably amongst them but it made my experience at this "Goodwill" my last.
