They recently renovated the inside of the facility. It's now a little bigger and easier to navigate. They do a good job of keeping the store and aisles organized and clean. Drop off for donations is entered from the back of the building and if the line is long, it tends to move pretty fast. I don't always like trying on clothes at goodwill but know if you ever need to return anything, you don't get credit back to original payment. You will instead get a goodwill gift card back with the money. Returns must be done with goodwill tags on and receipt. I've found some great deals here. Name brand items in brand new or like new condition for a significant discount. read more

I've been coming to this Goodwill atleast a few times a week as of lately. There's usually a good variety of unique and quality inventory to look through, with new stuff every single time I come. It does get a quite messy, but the staff seem to be on top of it to get the items back in their respective places. I usually shop for home goods, ceramics, glassware, etc. and I've been content with my finds. However, I would knock off a star because of how overpriced most things are. But overall, I find the staff to be friendly and there's an easy parking lot to get in and out of whenever I want to make a quick stop. read more

usually this store is alright, many of the employees are quite nice and helpful, however the general manager of this location just doesn't have a clue. so i've lived in the renton highlands for 25 years. i love goodwill, and thrifts stores in general. i visit this store on average at least one or twice a week. i have EASILY been here at least a thousand times if not double that. and i buy things from here, a LOT. anyway, it was a monday night and i found a desk that i thought would be really useful for the music school that i recently opened. i wasn't quite sure that it would fit, so i had to head back to my school to take measurements. unfortunately, i have a rare bone condition and am dealing with disability and health issues, it's been a very tough year and i have to be as frugal as possible. this is also why it took longer than i hoped for me to be able to move things around and take accurate measurements, i have a compression fracture in my spine. well, i figured it would be gone, as they usually take anything left that was on sale after a monday and ship it elsewhere, but that day i raced to the store to see if there was any chance it was still there or i could catch them while it was being disassembled. anyway, it was still there, i had taken a picture of it. i ask someone and they say they can't do anything about the price. i ask to talk to the manager. and that's where this fell apart. i explained the situation, we both acknowledged that in general this desk would have been removed already but they are doing some work around the store so that didn't happen. i thought this might be my lucky day, it was a perfect fit. however, even after i explained the circumstances, this general manager was adamant that she "could not" change the price. there was nothing she could do. look, i've been general manager of two restaurants and i owned a business before starting this new business. sorry, but i know what a general manager can and can't do. and yeah, i knew it was a long shot, but, i just know if i were the GM, i would have made the exception, especially for such a longtime customer. i even offered to do all the work and take it apart myself despite my pain and disability. again, she keeps saying she can only sell it to me for 40 dollars, even though the day before it was on sale for 1.99. i have shopped here so many times and know for a FACT that prices can be changed, i know from personal experience. i have had items be reduced in price for all kinds of reasons. and i know what the typical sort of brain dead response will be. you should have put it on hold. you could have bought it the day before. sure. go ahead and say that. as if i don't already know. but it doesn't change the fact that as a loyal customer who is just trying to help the community and teach kids and teens and adults how to play and make music, that this is a really sad and pathetic example of customer service and satisfaction, this is just ugly. and here's the both funny and sickening part. while she kept lying to me that she had no authority or ability to change the price at all, she told me she would sell it to me for 30 dollars, instead of 40. i am not kidding. she lied and lied and lied saying she can't change the price and then offered to change the price. just sad pathetic offensive and awful. this is exactly why lately i prefer offer up and craigslist, and why i no longer donate to goodwill. just a greedy, slimy attitude and mindset. ill be shopping here less, and i used to recommend this place to everyone, i used to literally be an advocate for this store and give people tips and advice on the things you can find and the deals you can get... ... that is NOT happening anymore. avoid this greedy soulless store, put items up for free on platforms like offer up, craigslist, and trashnothing read more

This is my neighborhood Goodwill and I love to stop by because I always find something good I didn't know I needed. Friendly staff, organized racks/shelves, clean inside. Big dressing rooms, lots of parking. When donating it's an easy drive around the back and we have always had helpful employees to take our unwanted items. read more

Company seems to have turned around since I've been here last a few years ago. I use to enjoy coming to second hand stores to hunt and find for older items. Many of the staff are pleasant, helpful and happy to interact with. Staff a few years ago use to be the opposite and many of those are no longer here. I noticed turn over at these companies are rather high but they're not viewed upon as career jobs or even long term jobs. The current batch of staff is very pleasant to interact with. It's good that they have started fully stocking the shelves again as during covid years they got a little thin on it. They're back to putting a lot out and I enjoy second hand stores because it reuses an item over buying a cheap item that'll just break after a few months. I find older items last longer and were built to last a several years. Now and then you'll find a super rare find but you have to time it right and snag these items before others get them. How do you politely say "If you're not going to wear a face mask correctly, please, please just remove the darn thing." 1) you look foolish chin wearing it like a bib on your chin. 2) It doesn't look all that attractive. 3) If you're trying to make a political statement, sorry but those years are well past us. And 3) Having a medical background if you do not wear a mask correctly and snugly covering your nose and mouth all day long it defeats the purpose of it. You pretty much expose your self to all the same air everyone else is breathing by chin wearing. Please, just wear a mask correctly or not at all. Please and thank you. I hope I'm not sounding condescending but we're past covid yrs and it's an option now not a political statement. Please take it off if you're not going to wear it correctly. Chin wearing does no good. That's actually how someone passed covid to me during covid years. Each time I see someone wearing a mask like this I just get annoyed and want to say something but know I can't because I don't want to offend people. My friends and I love shopping at the Renton Goodwill because of the great selection and cleanliness of the store. However, we had an unpleasant experience during our recent visit. One of my friends found a gown she really likes but the zipper was broken. When she asked an employee named Loidalyn if discount could be given due to the damage she was rude and dismissive. She said, " No extra discount because you are already senior" (it was a senior day). Emphasizing the senior in an unkind way. It also appeared that she might be a supervisor as she was directing other employees- but her tone was loud and disrespectful. I hope the management can address this matter and provide her with guidance and training on professionalism and customer service. Her behavior was disappointing and not reflective of otherwise environment at the store. By the way, the employee name Adam is 100 % star, he helped us and always in good behavior very accommodating and polite. Looking forward for him to become a manager. read more

Recently I often go to the Thrift store. I was surprised at the large number of Goodwill items in Renton. Today is the day when the red tag is 30% off. I recommend checking online which color tags are discounted. It is worth taking advantage of the discount benefits. First of all, many of the used items are very good and sometimes you will find something unique. I'm looking for used plant pots and trays. I couldn't find what I liked, but I was shopping in the store for over an hour. You will surely be able to find something in this shop. Recycle as much as you can to support your Thrift store. I have been to this Goodwill MANY times over the past 10 years so I know a lot about it. Let's just make this simple and easy to read with a classic Pro's & Con's list. This review will probably be the most spot on out of all of them. Pros: 1.) Good location right off Sunset. Big parking lot and big building...easy getting in and out of 2.) Good variety of quality merchandise. I have found some good stuff here over the years. They even buy new or overstock goods from Target at this location that is usually new in box. Inventory turns over pretty fast and always new items in there. You won't find that item here you will make $100 or more off usually or retire off but if you just need an item it is a good option 3.) The staff. Sure I have met a couple of dooozies from time to time. But overall, most of the employees are very nice. I have met some really cool people that work here over the years both at the registers or on the floor 4.) Super easy and quick to donate most items and get a tax write-off Cons: 1.) Prices can be all over the board never know what you will get. Think there are different price setters in back. One person might give you and awesome deal and price. And the next person may put $30 on a Tshirt and just have out of their minds high prices that almost make you puke in your mouth 2.) The actual good, GOOD donations don't even make it to the floor anymore. They put them right online to get most money. Years ago I would sometimes find SUPER awesome stuff. I wish they have the community a chance to buy it right there. You won't usually find an item worth over $100 anymore unless you are super lucky 3.) Pretty much no furniture is accepted unless it is absolute top of the line and they will ask like $300 for it inside haha Overall I do like this place definitely seen worse thrift shops. Could it be better? Absolutely. But 4/5 stars overall read more

We live in Olympia, so it's a task to come to this Goodwill, but go to it we do at least three times a year because it's in a good neighborhood and you never know what's in store. If you like physical media, this is the place to check out their vast collection. We actually found a VHS copy of Anne of Avonlea, which you can't even stream unless you have a subscription to a certain app. Sis loves finding tchotchkes, clothes, and furniture. It's always worth looking to find sports equipment if you want to try out a sport but don't know if you're going to love it. Want to own your own bat for the batting cages? Get one here for five bucks. Want to get the 10 cent discount/20 star bonus at Starbucks but don't want to pay for a $30 vacuum flask? Buy a used mug here and keep it in your trunk. Yes, I know we're supposed to hate on Goodwill because they're less a charity and more a for-profit these days, but you can feel good about giving a second life to things that would have ended up in a landfill because someone didn't value their perfectly good stuff anymore. One man's garbage is another man's treasure so if you want to do the world a solid, this is a pretty good place to do it, plus you can save a buck or two. read more

The car line to donate was incredibly long on New Year's eve. Most likely because people are purging old items for the new year. I waited 45 minutes in line, which was not the issue. What was the issue, when I got up to the front the lady in front of me had large items that she had to unload off the trunk while the male attendant stood there watching. Well no wonder the line of cars was taking so long. There was absolutely no help from the attendants. Every other Goodwill I've been to, the attendants are helpful. When it was my turn, I tried to quickly unload my 5 bags while an Indian lady attendant shrieked at me asking if i wanted a receipt. When I nodded, she kept saying "here your taxes", without helping unload. The other male asian attendant stood there watching not helping either. I told the lady "does it look like I can grab the receipt right now while I am unloading with both hands?" Both attendants stood there looking stupidly at me. I will never donate here again. I really hope these lazy attendants do not get paid because if they are then they're getting paid to do nothing but stare. read more

It seems like the pricing varies a lot based on what neighborhood one is in vs. having pricing that is the same across the board. Good sized parking lot shared with the grocery store. This Goodwill is ridiculously over priced! They have the same items at Walmart for less that are not used! Drive to Kent or maple valley to find .99 and actual great finds and prices. They are selling broken toys for double what a regular retailer would. The "new" items ate over priced as well more than a regular store. This place is a waste of time. Seriously male the 20 minutes drive to the Maple Valley one! What a rip off! I literally should have gone to the regular mall. The prices are the same and its not used and broken. This probably was the worst thrift experience I've had. We spent over an hour and a half picking 10+ items just to walk out with 1.Due to them being incapable of correcting pricing items?? This should NOT be a customers problem! I came with three friends and all of them happen to be poc. Was that the issue?! Specifically when the white woman at the cashier called over a superior.Tall man with glasses who picked through all my clothes and said to not let us purchase. This was my first goodwill I went to in Washington and was greatly disappointed. I use to work at a goodwill and have done every end of the work there and was upset to see that this location overpriced everything. The great part of Goodwill is that things are affordable and reusable. Goodwill makes use to people's donations at a reasonable price and I sound countless things priced as if brand new. Simple things like used plate sets and bunched up utensils were sky rocket prices. I can't imagine they sell a lot because I've seen things overpriced at goodwill sit on the shelves for months until set to donation sites for bundling. Kinda defeats the whole purpose of selling if you're not gonna get the sale, right? I give this play bonus points because of a couple things: 1, it's a great size. There's a lot of room for a lot of stuff. 2, it's clean! The employees are doing a great job keeping the place tighty. These things are great, but I can't give a goodwill over 3 stars if it feels like a place I'd never find a real deal at. What's the point of considering it a thrift store then? If I started seeing reasonable prices here I would definitely give this place a 4 stars, but unfortunately that's not the case read more

I've donated here once with no issues. There was only one car ahead of me so it was quick and there wasn't any hassle. I shopped here for the first time today after visiting the Bellevue/Redmond store yesterday. I do think there is a better selection here for some reason but it might just be the luck of the recent donations. The clothing are better coordinated by color here than the other location so it's much easier to find what you're looking for. The only confusing part is that the blazers are mixed in with the outerwear. They have enough to make a small blazer section that I think would be helpful to a lot of customers. I particularly came here looking for business clothes. Either way, I was able to find 2 almost brand new ones for a good price and some pants. I got Ralph Lauren, J Crew, Gap and Banana Republic. I'm almost shocked at myself for not shopping here sooner since my friends know me to always look for deals. Never paying full price again when I can just hunt Goodwill stores for hidden gems (like new Levi skinny jeans for $7.99 YAAASS). The workers inside were really sweet at the fitting room and at the cashiers. Sounds like a lot of people have had bad experiences mostly with donations. Hopefully you never have to encounter that. read more

This location has somewhat high prices on electronics. However, at checkout I was told I could return any items that were not working correctly. So I thought.... Sure, I'll take the risk. I purchased a VCR, took it home and it didn't work. I went on vacation for a two weeks and returned the VCR. When I returned the VCR, it just so happened that it was the same cashier who checked me out. When I produced my receipt, the cashier then told me that customers have to return items within 7 days. To me, that seems like something you might want to mention at checkout. Or put a sign up by the electronic section. Plus from his non-verbal body language, prior to me producing the receipt and tone he already seemed hesitant to process the return. Im rating this location three star for a good donations experience. The store is clean and the inventory is in good condition. Its just an overall generally good shopping experience. A knock down on stars for treating me suspiciously and not fully communicating the return policy. I will not be returning to this location. read more

i absolutely loved this goodwill. i travel from chelan to renton alot and this was my favorite place. i filled carts for my 2 annual trips there a year.i was completely blown away by the disrespect and complete audacity of the manager. the taller darker skinned gentlemen. he was 100% out of line and i hope someone holds him accountable for his wreckless slanderous accusations. i had procedure done at uw and went shopping next day. h came up and accused me of stealing the week before. i was humiliated and discusted. he didnt even listen to me when it came to living in chelan and not here. he was on a ego trip and coming to a innocent person with such damaging accussations can have major dire effects. not only causing me anxiety but a phobia of being called out again. this store knows he is awful at being rude. id remind him of slander laws read more

This has to be one of my favorite locations because I don't think anyone thinks there's gems here because of the location. Im on the fence with pricing because I feel like sometimes it's higher than I want to pay. But, sometimes you can score major brands on sales days. I did come across some Vince. flats in my size and that was a win for sure! Ive also found Tory Burch and Kate Spade wedges. Everyone is always pretty friendly and helpful and the store is well maintained. The parking lot can be a tad sketchy at times, so lock your doors and hide your items. read more

Looking to spend retail plus on used stuff just to be disappointed as soon as you look at the price tag on the first decent item you've seen in months, well this is it, you found it. Enjoy getting harassed by the staff while you attempt to shop here even an hour and 15 minutes before normal closing hours just so the employees can get home by the new "temporary" closing time. If your looking to save money on a used ripped hiking bag or some worn out shoes, I'd highly recommend going to REI or Louis Vuitton. Lately the lines at the drop-off have been stretching around the building. Today I had 1 box of bedding to drop off and so when I went to the drop-off line and saw it stretching down to the Rite Aid parking lot put on my mask and I tried to take it to the front and walk it in. There was just 1 guy working the front of the line which is why it tailed back so far. When I approached a guy came out from the loading area and told me I needed to take it back and get in the line. I explained there were 20-30 cars in the line and I just had the one box. He said he didn't care and he wouldn't take it. So I asked if they didn't want it could just put it in the dumpster in back? He said that dumping wasn't allowed and to take it to Renton dump if I didn't want it. He was extremely rude and the store has created such a f**ked up drop off process that you will spend an hour in line just to donate. How is handing over a box by walking up any different than taking it out of my car and handing it over after sitting in line for an hour. It isn't, I am still masked, still the same distance away and still handing over the same items. I say don't bother- just throw it in the garbage like I did. read more

Very limited selection, but they have a few gems tucked away if you are willing to take the time to raid the racks. Most of the clothes are junk for sure and are "off brands" but every now and again, you can locate a few top brands. You want examples? Obviously there's been a huge revamp. The new layout is excellent. The problem, and it's a large one, is they have 1/2 the stock they used to -slim pickings - and items that used to be .99 are now $3.99 and so forth. Very disappointing. I won't be coming back to this location. read more

Terrible management here. Went to this location on 9/15/21 11:00 AM. The employees around the store were very friendly and I found an area rug. Rug was tagged $15. Went to front of store, there was a very long line and I waited patiently. Employees were doing fine. One employee was apparently disputing with a customer the price of a children's sports jersey, holding up the line. More employees quickly arrived to help after said employee ran away to re tag the item. When I reached the register, a very nice employee was ringing me up, when the employee that had stepped away jumped in front of her to proclaim that the rug I had picked out could not possibly by $15. She checked the back, $15 was written IN SHARPIE on the back of the rug itself. She claimed the rug was worth $100 new. Then she ran away with my rug to go reprice it. I left, it was utterly ridiculous that this (apparent) manager was at the registers INCREASING prices! TERRIBLE business practice. I went here sometimes twice a week, and will NEVER return. Employee that was changing prices was apparently middle aged, Caucasian woman, blond hair. She was very rude, and dismissive of customers. In general I'm a fan of all thrift stores, this Goodwill is one of my favorites. The only concern I have is that some items are grossly overpriced, you can get them new retail for cheaper. They get a little to picky on donations , for instance they wouldn't take a small antique wood chair that I bought there & still had a Goodwill sticker on it! I am beginning to hate goodwill!. I have only been to one that has impeccable customer service. I feel like when you are donating to a multimillion dollar corporation you deserve respect and frankly some gratitude for dropping off your unused goods. When I hear and see workers yelling at customers when dropping off goods or having someone push my items back into the car it just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I didn't get yelled at like the lady behind me, but I had the most arrogant person tell me she wouldn't take a baby car seat. I understand it is a liability and thank you to the man who came out and calmly told me why he couldn't take the baby seat. Thanks to him I am not cursing on my review. Second and last time this is happening. Left with my donations and found St Vincent de Paul donation truck in Fred Meyer parking lot.
