I had a box under my arm of a few things to donate that I was going to drop off on my way into the store. The outside attendant say "NO. You have to go back to your car and get in line and wait to drop it off". What?! I'm not going to sit in a line in my car just to drop off a few things, on my way into the store. But no, he wouldn't let me just leave it with him. That's to bad. Not only did I shop at goodwill a LOT. But a also donate a huge amount of goods every year. But no more. There are plenty of other places that I can donate to and shop at that are not so ridiculous and unreasonable. read more

I am beginning to hate goodwill!. I have only been to one that has impeccable customer service. I feel like when you are donating to a multimillion dollar corporation you deserve respect and frankly some gratitude for dropping off your unused goods. When I hear and see workers yelling at customers when dropping off goods or having someone push my items back into the car it just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I didn't get yelled at like the lady behind me, but I had the most arrogant person tell me she wouldn't take a baby car seat. I understand it is a liability and thank you to the man who came out and calmly told me why he couldn't take the baby seat. Thanks to him I am not cursing on my review. Anyways, don't yell at people who drop off good to pay for your paycheck, it's just plain ole rude. read more

I have better luck here than most department stores and it's as well organized- if not more so- than most of the discount ones. I have found the most amazing clothes, accessories, shoes, furniture, house wares, toys, do-dads, tchotchkes, gewgaws, knickknacks, baubles, lagniappes, trinkets, collectibles, curios, bric-a-brac, ornaments, holiday swag, and more stuff I can't even name here. My boyfriend used to drag me here to look for "treasures." Now I find myself not minding it so much. Really big store, clean, lots of items, and surprisingly really well organized. Movies, home decor, furniture, air conditioners, sports equipment, TV's, clothing, art, linens, collectibles; they have it all. I always immediately check out the book selection as soon as I come in. I've found some great deals! Most of the books are priced anywhere from $0.99 to $3.99, and a lot of them are in great condition! From there I will go hunt down my boyfriend in the Men's department where he is searching for Seahawks jerseys and nice work clothes. He has found name brand items such as Abercrombie, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Lacoste and more - also in very good conditions. Pricing is pretty reasonable too, I don't think he's paid any more than $8 for a nice dress shirt. Sometimes I will wander through the knick knack section; I have a obsession with owls so I am always looking for cute little products for around the house. Occasionally I'll check out the dishes and whatnot, but I usually don't buy. AVOID THE TOY SECTION. You can't even walk down the aisle half the time, so many toys covering the floor. And screaming children. Lots of those. On the way out grab a flier from the cashier; it shows the different upcoming sales. Examples: certain weekends will be 50% off pink tags (there are a bunch of different color tags they rotate on sale) or like 30% off linens. Tuesdays are manager special days and you have to ask the day of what it's on. read more

I go here basically almost every Monday morning, I get there before the store opens, the line of people outside, I got to say there are some rude pushy people that will do anything to be first in those doors and the ones clearing out the shoe racks with carts piled of nothing but the $1.29 shoes not giving others a chance to look. Some of the things are overpriced, I always scan on my phone things so I can make sure I am not getting a bad deal, I have scanned ALOT of things that are priced the same or higher then they are brand new in a store. They get things from Target that have been clearanced and then donated, they will leave the clearance stickers on the items then put a Goodwill price way over the clearance price, I mean really, remove the clearance sticker or put Goodwills price sticker over them, that is tacky. I pointed it out to the manager(a blonde/grey haired woman, said she was the manager) and she said if I won't buy it someone will, I mean really, it is a second hand store selling donated items, why would they have that mentality. I seen a bag that was there for 2 months, it had a price written inside, no color price tag attached, the same blonde head manager I asked if it was possible for a discount since it has been sitting there for 2 months, it was for 39.99, she said she couldn't do a discount because it had no color sticker, so another month in a half went buy and it was still sitting there. You can find good deals, but you have to look. I have found alot, but also found alot of bad deals too. read more

I would like to think of myself as a thrift store aficionado. This Goodwill just doesn't fit the bill for me. Maybe it is because they are busy all the time, but I can't really seem to find anything good. Usually at other locations, the clothing is somewhat up to date. Not here, 1980 called, they want their ish back. I am not going to pay $4.00 for something that has holes in it, sorry, no dice. I'm bored so I'm finally getting around to writing this review. I attempted to donate some furniture here in June 2019. It was a dresser and a futon. The dresser was old, had been painted by the previous owner, had some small dings and paint chip marks on it, but not broken anywhere and very sturdy. The guy managing the drop-off area flipped his lid when he saw it and refused to take it, saying it was "too damaged." I cannot stress enough that the "damages" were a handful of moving dings and some scuffed paint. He went on and on quite angrily about how no one would buy this thing and all I could think about is how I'd love to show him the condition of the various pieces of furniture I've bought from Goodwill over the years. I later learned that this has been Goodwill's new thing, to get really really stingy about what they accept so they can sell things at a premium. I'm happy to say that I have not since nor will I ever again attempt to donate to, or shop at, Goodwill. read more

I really like this Goodwill and of all the Goodwills in the Seattle area, this is quickly becoming my favorite location. A few reasons why this is the case: * Large selection. The amount of stuff to choose from here surpasses most locations. It's as if it were the south end's headquarters or something; seems to have about twice as much as your average Goodwill. * Decent prices. The prices here are always good, lower than other 2nd hand shops. * Organization. The whole experience is more pleasurable when you can see what you're looking for (or rather NOT looking for), and staff are frequently roaming the floor to rearrange things. If you're in the south end and feel like hitting up the Seattle Goodwill but don't want to deal with the drive, this is the perfect choice. The amount of stuff they carry will be enough to curb your major-thrift-store craving. read more

This is my favorite Goodwill location. I love getting a good deal, so this is my first stop when looking for clothing or books. The store is large and well organized, and always has a good selection. I seldom leave empty-handed. They often get overstock from Target (with the tags still on!) so I can get the brands I love. Like most Goodwill's they have daily specials on a particular colored tag (usually half off) for an even better deal. There is also ample parking. read more

For some reason, I think it's a lot tighter here in terms of space, so I thought the shelving was pretty close and the aisles are not as wide. I could be wrong though. Recently, I made a donation to Goodwill and my car battery died just after, leaving me stuck at the store. One of the donation staff (with the blessing of his supervisor ;) helped give a much needed jump start. I was and still am super grateful. He refused a tip. 6 CDs for only about $18??? NICE! I was pleased to find some like-new CDs for artists I like (Matthews Band, Lenny Kravitz, Black Crowes, etc.) for only $2.99 each. Had to sort through to see whether the CD cases on display had CDs in them but this made the search more fun. They also had a big selection of VHS and DVDs and video games (PS2, mostly). read more

Waited over 30 minutes to donate a two tables. The legs had been removed for transport. When we finally got to the front the the line we were told we would have to assemble the tables before they would take them. If this rule had been posted on the website or in line we would have assembled them during the excruciatingly long wait. We left with the tables and will never make another donation. read more

I just had a really bad experience at a Goodwill in Lacey while I was down there visiting family. I decided to try this Renton location anyway in hopes of finding what I want and getting great customer service. Long story short, I was in and out within 10 minutes and left with a great deal on a pedestal table and received awesome customer service. They have a huge selection on furniture (at least when I was there) and everything seemed fairly priced. I will definitely head back over there to find the perfect chairs for my table. read more

Meh. I shop here a lot, and the prices have really gotten out of control. 9$ for jeans, 6$ for tops. Heck, I can go to target or old navy and buy that stuff brand new. I wanted a new pot with a lid and they where all 12$ and more. For used beat up pots! I like going because I can find some unusual items, but the pricing has gotten unreasonable. Worst goodwill I've ever been to in my life! Soooooo unorganized and junky! ! Furniture covered the entire front sidewalk. Very tacky. I'd understand if it was sunny and they were having a sidewalk sale but it was drizzling rain and all of it wad getting ruined. Inside was a horrible nightmare. Nothing looked good. It looked like someone took a dumpster, put explosives in it blew it up and they called it good. Avoid asy all costs. Prices were high. This is the best Good Will I have ever been too. They have a better selection than any other location, including the location in Seattle on Denny Way. I just wish they had a better turn over rate. I recognize that Good Will can only put out product that has been donated to them, but You see the same stuff on a daily basis. So going in weekly is about the best frequency. Donation line can be a bit long and slow, if you plan to donate make sure you don't have anywhere to go right away. Traffic flow is also a bit chaotic, and definitely don't park near the donation line or you may get blocked in. read more

So I have expanded fish day territory to southern king county. On the way to one of the fish stores I decided to make a pit stop at this goodwill and woahhh I'm glad I did! Once again I constantly hunt for fish related things and I have found some amazing deals thrifting but this time I hit the motherload! They have a pet section that was filled with fish tanks and supplies nothing I needed. However as we left I found a HUGE fish tank from the dimensions it was at least 75 gallons for 8$!! It barely fit in my car but it was worth the hustle. This easily is one of my 3 best finds at any thrift shop. This location is huge and clean! I'll stop by here on my way to Sierra next week. read more

Friendly and helpful staff. Large selection and very clean. I always find something. You have to be willing to spend some time browsing but I've found some really nice clothes; never ran across anything that is stained or torn. Very reasonable pricing. Great vintage clothing. I've also found some really good antiques over the years; a beautiful sideboard for $25 plus picture frames always under $10. Wide selection of furniture/household goods in great shape. Awesome used book selection! Seasonal section is great too. Large dressing rooms with minimal wait time if any. Parking is ample. Huge selection of odds and ends in the case as you walk in. Several items appear to be brand new. I've also found several high end shoes and purses. read more

This location has a total lack of appreciation for donations or customers. I know that it is a busy location that funnels probably literally tons of items through it so they just don't care if you donate there or not as there is likely no shortage of "one man's trash is another man's treasure". That said though, a smile and/or "thank you" would go a long way towards normal expectations of business-to-customer decency. I have made several weekly donations recently over the past couple months and, no exaggeration, not a single loader has said "hi" or "thank you". Instead, before anything else can be said or done, I've gotten reprimanded each time for not following their newest rules of where to pull your car to make the donation (aside from the fact that no matter how small the donation they won't accept walk ups, it has to come directly from your vehicle). Every time I come to donate, I follow the rule that I was yelled at about during the previous visit (which was probably no more than a week prior) and now it is a new rule so I'm doing it wrong again. On each of these visits, no employee has been outside directing anything (except the time I waited 10 minutes in the "old" drop off area before someone came and told me to go back around and get in THAT line over THERE where I waited another 10 minutes). There are signs that vaguely say "Goodwill donations" with an arrow in some general direction or say "One car at a time" but the signs don't say where you should go one at time with said car. Once the loader has finished scolding me, they then will grudgingly allow me to unload my items, standing there silently while I down troddenly hand them small items and they watch as I carry larger items myself to the bins or sidewalk. Once the items are out of the car, I have never received a "thank you", just a flat "want a receipt". I quietly say "no thanks" (which I know is dumb - I should be claiming this stuff on my taxes) and I get in my car and numbly leave. The whole experience is humiliating and very frustrating at the same time. I haven't donated at other Goodwill locations in a long time, so I can't comment as to whether this is a general trend across Goodwill or not, but I can say this Renton location is without a doubt an extreme disappointment as it relates to donations. read more

This particular store has the highest prices on housewares of any Goodwill I've ever visited. I rarely find anything that's priced right before it's discounted. Even the discounted prices are often too high. I've picked up items originally purchased at Big Lots or Ross, and the original price still on the bottom is very often less than the Goodwill price. This seems to be specific to this store. I picked up several large ceramic bowls yesterday, almost all had wear or chips, and they all were marked $12.99. I can get brand new never used beautiful bowls at Home Goods for that, so I'm not going to pay that at Goodwill. Other Goodwill stores in King County are usually more realistic in their pricing. But if you really want good deals at Goodwill try Pierce And Snohomish county stores. I don't even shop in King county stores anymore. If only they knew how much they're losing when people walk out of their stores empty handed due to outlandish pricing. Hey Goodwill, just a reminder. Your used donated items cost you nothing. So you need to price them so people would want to buy them. You're not a retailer. You have a lot of competition out there. And as an upcycler, i buy a lot of stuff in thrift stores. Usually carts full. I'm the one with the cart full of glass and ceramics that people dread being behind in line. I usually spend $30-40 and get a whole cart full of stuff. At this Goodwill I'd be lucky to get five comparable items for that. I've checked this one out several times just on the chance they've come around and started pricing things more fairly, but they are consistently high on the house wares. I'm not even going to bother with them any more. Too much time wasted and it just annoys me. read more
