I have been an avid thrift shopper since childhood, I have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly here in Houston. Normally I am a fan of Goodwill (although it can be on the pricey side due to the standardized pricing), however I had a horrible experience today. The Goodwill storefront on Westheimer is clean and has nice finds, but the customer service is appalling. I was in the dressing room and came out to find my cart still outside, but the item I was saving was gone. At first I thought a very rude customer had snatched it, but as I was leaving I saw it in the hands of an employee. I went over to her to explain that I had still wanted the item I had left in my cart. She begins to argue with me saying that she talked to other people in the area and they said it wasn't theirs so she took it away. I tried to explain that I was in the dressing room and she kept telling me with her nasty attitude that these other women said it wasn't theirs. In the end she upset me so much with her rudeness and I was still so confused as to why she took the item out of my cart to begin with that I left empty-handed. In short I strongly advise against shopping at this particular location. I fully endorse shopping at the Goodwill in the Heights on 20th, the staff there are absolutely wonderful. If you do go to the Westheimer location, take a friend so that the gold-toothed employee of incredible rudeness and stupidity doesn't take stuff from your cart while you are in the dressing room. read more

Goodwill is for profit! They lie! Also their prices are ridiculou! HELLO CEO OF GOODWILL.. it's USED!!! Your bags are filthy and ripped, damaged snd fake! Yet you will charge as though you think it's real. I found a bottle of adderall in a purse. CLASS 2 drug! Thank goodness I'm a healthcare worker and knew to rid of it. A young child teen couldve got ahold of this and died! You are WAY WAY WAY OVERPRICED! PERIOD! Soiled, dirty, stained and damaged items, priced like new or almost new. HONESTLY, CEO guy, SHAME ON YOU! Dessert industries, tan by Christians, clean, organized, friendly! GREAT APPROPRIATELY PRICED ITEMS! If you were doing true resale, where the items are chosen, then only hand picked clean non damaged items were priced to sell, you could justify your prices. Underprivileged people come here to buy for their children, some even for holidays because they don't make much or ARE SINGLE MOTHERS! You are a thief! I don't come across one person when I'm shopping that says they aren't coming back! You are FOR PROFIT! Your employees are rude, don't say excuse me AT ANY OF YOUR STORES! They cuss, gossip loudly and smell like WEED!!!!!! It's a thrift store, price accordingly! Clean your items before you hurt someone! Hire those with an idea of how to behave at their job! read more

Resellers camp outside double doors inside. Tuesday 9-2pm. Tall white reseller guy in his 20s named Brian or Bryan. will block people from getting new inventory, he will shield new inventory with his cart or his body. He's 6'2-6'3 from others while his other reseller friend Sam blonde girl in her 20s puts 12-15 items in her cart & picks out items she can't resell. These resellers are rude & horrible. Brian wears a hat & tries to intimidate other customers that actually have to shop here because that's all they can afford. If you bring donations here, you need to watch these fuckers like a hawk! Their overly aggressive "assistance" results in them pilfering everything that isn't nailed down from your car. Be prepared to push back just as aggressively; even to the point of shouting "Get THE FUCK AWAY from my car, RIGHT NOW!!!" They have taken many things I didn't want to donate from my car, and when you notice their absense later and go back the next day, they agree they had the items you describe in their possession, but they've sold them already. These people are thiefs. Never has donating to a "good cause" felt so much like larceny. read more

I've heard my friends saying that this store was the most affordable and interesting of its kind in Houston area. I was planning on buying some used work attire, so I took a chance and visited Goodwill River Oaks. Even though I was on a pretty tight budget, there were so many options to buy and still stick to the budget! I also noticed that there was so many bright colorful items of women clothing. I told my wife I saw cheap Banana Republic and Ann Taylor stuff and she is now planning on visiting Goodwill! I will be back as well! read more

I like how the clothes is organized and even divided into the sectioned by color. There are different selections of awesome brands from Banana Republic to Ann Taylor. I have never expected myself to get so impressed with a book selection, but after visiting this spot all I want and all I actually can to say is GUYS, WELL DONE! First of all, this thrift store is extremely organized and well kept. It was also a pleasure to meet their friendly and polite staff. In comparison to other stores Marshalls Homegoods is much organized and neat. I discovered it a few months ago on purpose to kill some time while waiting for a friend. As for the pricing, it's pretty affordable, but what I hate the most about this place is that even if you're not looking for something to buy, there is no way to get out of it with empty hands! My last visit ended with buying a cart. I think this spot is worth a good word, but it's a danger for me. read more

Haven't ever found such a great Goodwill in my whole life. My opinion is mainly goes for their customer service, but I also like the location, which is in the very heart of H Town. No other store can beat it! Their book selection and the clothes racks are amazing! You can get a rare book in excellent condition only for $1-2. I was referred to this outstanding place by my colleague by saying that Goodwill River Oaks was the best spot for buying used work attire. My budget was extremely limited, but I managed to stick to it. I needed to buy some clothes for my wife and I was impressed with the way how it was organized by color. The reason I love this Goodwill is that is has some amazing people that work here. Harvey, Carl, Eldridge, Ann and Liz are some of the nicest and hard working people out there. First of all, the location of this Goodwill is cool! The very heart of Houston! I mostly visit it because of their book selection! Seriously, you can get a great one at only one or two bucks! And when I say this I mean really cool ones, sometimes-even extremely unique ones! Even though there is another good book store in Houston, which is Half Price Books, it cannot beat River Oaks! Goodwill River Oaks is truly the best store I've ever visited looking for comics! They have a great selection of it and many more items, such as CDs and records. They also provide lots of toys and trinkets for sale. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the environment is cool! I always stop by this spot if I have a free minute. Love it! read more

Too pricey for donated goods. Love to shop thrift stores so I'll visit Assistant Ministries stores. Their stuff is a lot less expensive AND you can witness people coming in using vouchers to help them and their families. CEO for most thrift stores aren't making six figures; check the income for Goodwill's CEO. It's disturbing. read more

Haven't found a better goodwills in the city for sure! It's impossible to get there as much as you planned, you'll get much more! In general, the store is greatly organized. The selection of merchandise is awesome. read more
