I can consistently find good stuff here, and it's well-priced as far as GDubs go.

Goodwill is sparse at Goodwill on Fillmore St. I found two small traffic cones that I wanted to purchase, but there was no price tag. So I brought it up to the counter and a manager named Ricky said he wanted $4.45 each. I looked up the price on Amazon an brand new Amazon wanted $3.69 I showed him and he said the lowest he would go is $3.59. Last time I checked a thrift store is supposed to charge less than the major retailers and $0.10 is not a thrift store discount for something that is used and scratched. Ricky refused to lower it any further and said I should take it up with Amazon it's Amazon's fault. I've been a shopper at Goodwill for 16years but after this...never again. A very well organized store, but sorely lacking in items and as with the trend of thrift stores these days, slightly overpriced

Last location now become Dosa Restaurant a nieces Indian Restaurant around... Last time I went to Dosa to have a nice dinner with my wife and can't help amazed by how much they have change and glade that they moved because new store got bigger brighter and much more spacious... I am myself a Goodwill freak for years and have been very pleases with the idea of walking in the store not knowing what waiting for me (for me this feeling money can't buy ha ha..) And money that we spend is going to help other not to make rich richer.. Other store bored the pants out of me Funny thing about Goodwill is that they have change my shopping habit and safe me a lot of money for example before if I want something I just went to the store and buy it or shopping online like many people does but now if I'm interested in buying something I will wait and lower my expectation a bit and go shopping at Goodwill here how it's work... It's might not get me right away and sometime it might take me months or more just searching but in the end of the day I walk out from goodwill more satisfied than from other store. Last year my old vacuum cleaners just broken down and I have to used my tiny handy vacuum for a while. I've been looking around for the new one from internet for quite some time but never get the chance to buy it (the one I want was Dyson ball and there was no chance to find it in Goodwill store ...may be just a ball? Ha ha..) one day last month I was walking in the store and found the Dyson DC14 vacuum cleaner sitting in the dark corner against the back wall with bright welcoming yellow color for $20.00 (retail $500) the machine was not stand out so much because it too dark back there maybe that why people didn't recognize it and also it was not so clean and shiny but after I took it home and clean it up it work just like new (don't you love that feeling Ummm...) apparently this model have no ball ;-P and have been in the market for quite some time so that a good reason why it end up here. And last year again I went to the store and got my nice aluminum audio racks for 25 bucks and found out later from the internet that this racks system is custom made for the serious audio freak and it's retailing around $2,000!! (Same brand same model number) No wonder after I bought it someone just make me an offer right away ;-) Also 80% of my audio and home theater components was from this Goodwill store alone.. Two of my favorite are Rotel RSX receiver ($35.00) and Bose 901 VI speakers ($40.00) Many other Goodwill are not like this one. I went to most of Goodwill store in San Francisco but most of them are the keeper..so when you went back you will see old stuff again and again and that make merchandise in poor shape but this one is far more organize and much more interesting you will see something new every day. Someone told me you need a luck to get all the good stuff but for me you just got to know what to look and look hard and check it often because you never know what sneak inside the lower shelf or dark corner someday.. This is a very solid Goodwill, even though the new location isn't quite as awesome as the last. At least the dressing rooms are cleaner.

This is one of the better Goodwill's I've been to. As with any Goodwill, you have to do a lot of sifting to strike gold (or silver or bronze, depending on the day), but I usually walk out with a few items that I really like. Importantly, the store is clean and the clothes are organized. There's nothing more depressing than thrift store shopping in a dirty store...I don't care how much of a bargain pro you are! read more

Of course everyone knows you can find some great things at the Goodwill. However staff isn't exactly very friendly. Parking nearby is metered. And they only hold items for up to 1 hour. read more

This place is a huge improvement on the old Goodwill across the street. Clean, well-organized, with some fancy duds and a nice book section. I've always appreciated Goodwill's color-coded organization of the clothing racks-- it beats wading through jumbled heaps of stuff-- but this takes it one step better. Prices are still Goodwill prices, too, if you stick with the regular racks. read more

Dropped off an entire carload of stuff today. Got to say that I was kind of annoyed at the apathy displayed by the employees. No offer to even help me with the 20 bags& items I brought. I cannot speak to the folks inside so perhaps that's a different experience. Just a bummer to have to deal with that selfish attitude when you are doing something kind for others. read more

TRULY THE MOST AMAZING GOOD WILL IN TERMS OF ORGANIZATION and beautiful items...have walked out with purchases that have been just as exciting as what I have found at Jeremy's department store...I got 6 items for 30.00! A gorgeous marilyn monroe black halter fitted dress that is super hot for $9, a Nino Cerrutti scarf that is Gorgeous for $5, super cute tops for $2.75 (orange tag specials) that are sexy, fitting super well and excellent condition! I could go on and on...love the hats and purses too...items that are so good, makes me want to take my high end clothes that I would sell to crossroads, to Goodwill on Post at fillmore, just to give back. In fact I have some prada shoes I am going to drop off for sure ~ This Goodwill Rocks and makes you feel good to find such amazing pieces at prices that are super exciting~!! read more

I consistently find good stuff here. It's big with lots of quality clothing. I've gotten lucky in the kids section as well. Great finds include madewell dresses, everlane tips, Nike running clothes, baby gap. read more

Place seems organized. Really wish they would do pick ups for large donations. Not everyone has a car in the city. Got tons of electronics, VHS, books, CDs, clothes and shoes they could have had otherwise. read more

this Goodwill Store is SUPER ORGANIZED and CLEAN with GREAT STUFF! before i went inside, i made a list in my head on what to buy. i needed a plain, long white tank-top, kitchenware and black stilettos. i simply walked up to a rack of white tank tops. i found one that i liked within a minute! plus, it was a brand new H&M tank top for a price of $3.49 with no tax. unfortunately, i couldn't find black stilettos in my size, but it's okay b/c i got what i needed. *a great thing they do now to be eco-friendly is: -they charge $0.05 for a plastic bag in a purchase *bring your reusable bag if you plan to buy a lot of things here! of course, i'll be back here again! {happy shopping!} read more

I looove thriftshops & this is one that has stayed on my list to check up on every few months. I always find goodies here. Seven for All Mankind Jeans for $5.99 yesss $5.99, you just have to keep looking like a needle in a haystack & I promise you will find something amazing! Also, great cardigans for $4 from H&M, I've seen cute VS Pink shirts (xs =\) and other great steals here. I got some super cute glass coaster's with a wooden holder $3 couldn't believe it! So yes there are great finds here & I love how organized they are, not by size, but clothing wise. Definitely check this place out =) then maybe grab some sushi in Japan town lol read more

My last thrift store of the day in SF, and it ended with a decent note, giving me some faith again in buying thrift, although I didn't actually buy anything per se. I went in here with my hubby, and this store is organized, more or less, at least their clothing was. Good Will stuff isn't cheap, but it's not over-the-top. I like that you can usually get a decent jacket for $8, and shirts for under $5. Still wish it were cheaper, but at least by purchasing here, it goes towards a good cause. Hubby pointed out to me an H&M blazer for less than $8, but it was velour material. Not my type of material, but still a good price for a relatively new blazer. I don't recall a book section here at this location...I probably missed it or something... This Goodwill has moved since I first began shopping there. It used to be on the opposite side of Fillmore as it is now. I've really hit the jackpot at this particular goodwill, a number of times. For that reason, I am hesitant to yelp about it.....but why not share a good thing with others, i guess. Target liquidates to the Bay Area Goodwill so often times you will find brand new target items (clothes, shoes, housewares) at drastically discounted prices. During halloween, you can find brand new costumes for just a few dollars. I've also found chrismas decor here as well. Its awesome! If you've never been, I would recommend checking it out. read more

I LOVE their book section! I always stock up here before a vacation :) Paperbacks are between $1.39 and $4.00 -- a steal!

Clothing and shoe prices are high. Good quality house ware items. Crowds are usually waiting for house ware items to be stocked, to rush over and grab those new items. If you need house ware items this is a great store for that. read more

This is one of my favorites as far as clothing selection. The kitchen ware collection is so-so. The clothing prices and selection are way better than the over-priced Goodwill boutique store. I've found many good deals here- high quality, good price. read more

To me, it's basically like any other Goodwill. Mostly stuff that you don't really recognize except that it was probably cheap to begin with. The only other labels I recognize are the typical J.Crew (which wasn't cheap to begin with but seems common enough), Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic, and lots of stuff that I recognize from Ross Dress For Less. If you don't mind the labels and just need something to wear, any Goodwill seems good enough to me. And quite frankly, if I were short on cash or even homeless, $5 for a J. Crew or Banana Republic cashmere sweater is a superb find (considering their hefty price tags to begin with). What sets this Goodwill apart from some of the rest is that occasionally you find that gem of an item! Something that looks like it really shouldn't belong there! I haven't been quite as lucky. But I did find a gold metallic pair of Corso Como cut out flats for $4.49! It was 15 minutes from closing on a weekend and I could not believe my eyes. Did I really score a decent pair of used Corso Comos which retail for $100?! Oh boy. I immediately returned everything else to their racks and left the store giddy just with this one find. Sigh. I'm still trying to figure out why anyone would donate their Corso Comos? Did the Crossroads on Fillmore reject it? Oh well. Their loss. My gain. read more

The selection can be a lot to thumb through but I really appreciate the friendly staff and willingness to quickly collect donations at their warehouse next door. The manager has kept the place really organized despite the constant influx of electronics, shoes, books and clothes- and works with a tireless, customer service oriented attitude. I have found entire series of discounted kids books (classics) and numerous designer pieces over the years. The manager is keeping everything organized and runs the store very well considering the amount of product that circulates Lower Pacific Heights on Fillmore. read more

The workers here are extremely rude. The last 2 times I went to drop off donations, they wouldn't accept the boxes without going through them item by item to cherry pick and one even went so far as to throw a pair of brand new shoes (too small for me) out the garage door of the place saying they don't take shoes. Really? If I wanted to be treated like this I would go to Buffalo Exchange and make a few dollars in the process. They are free donations and you have a job because of them. Get over it. read more

a lot of expensive stuff is donated here but non of it is brought out,everyday its shipped out,all is left is crap,electronics all all broken,they ship in a lot of target returns,they buy for pennies on the dollar,with some part missing or broken,tjen put priced more than target new,prices have gone up a lot here,trippled in the last few years,no staff on the till you might be waiting 15 minutes,they split the suits up so you cant get matching pants and tops,other goodwills have cheaper prices, people seem to like the clothes here,but smell them,they are not always washed,linen dept they are never washed,they put out better selection friday saturday,got bitten once by bedbugs from suitcases here once,but not since,good book collection,housewares pretty crap,at expensve prices,then they tack on Environmental Fee what ever thats for no returns except on broken electronics you only get 3 ay credit voucher read more

This is a great Goodwill. Really clean and organized without that nasty thrift store smell. Clothes are organized by size and some by color and size like sweaters and coats. A lot of the clothing is of good quality as well. I found a sweater from the Gap (looks like it was never worn) for $5. Their clothing section is great but not the same can be said for their housewares but the selection is still decent. Lots of books as well. read more

This Goodwill has radically improved since it's move from across the street, what is now the restaurant Dosha, and there are less shady "transactions" going on in the rear of the store. Like all Thrifts, it's hit or miss and recently I scored an unused Charter Room Cashmere Scarf for $3.49 ($130 Retail), an unused pair of Everlane Merino Wool gloves for $1.99 ($50 Retail), an unused Patagonia Camel Back Hydration backpack for $4.99 ($79 Retail) and an unused full set of Cuisinart Elite Rooster Cutlery for $3.99 (Retails for $59.99), so I'm a huge fan...when I hit and the stars align for my visit to this Goodwill with its eclectic San Franciscan' donations and let's not forget the great work Goodwill does. This store is better staffed than before and you can now tell employees care about the store given how well-organized and clean it's become. On those Miss days, there's always the the Indian buffet across the street which has wine, beer and the little known BYOB. You'll need it to get through the Desi weather there while you lament Missed opportunity over good Chicken Tikka Masala and a split of Moet Chandon Imperial purchased at the corner bodega. For me Goodwill on Fillmore is always a Hit. read more

So I pretty much frequent most of the goodwills throughout SF, and I must say this is by far one of the best ones out here. Larger store, bigger selection, EXTREMELY helpful staff that really make you feel welcomed. Which is pretty rare for a goodwill IMO. The young Asian, maybe Latino, cashier with tattoos really surprised us by greeting us upon entry. Not only us, but every person that walked through the door! With a huge smile on his face, you can tell that he sincerely enjoys his job. The staff there really puts a strong emphasis on keeping the store neat and organized! Bags, I've gotten 3 very cute handbags for all under 5 bucks. 4.95 (: haha. They might not be designer but there are designer bags. Once I saw a prada but didn't want to pick it up. Because thats not me. I got a Sac's handbag for 4.95 too, but it was all to well for me. Once there was a sample couch bag. WERID, i know but it was cool. Embarrassing story time. I was in Japantown and I popped into this Goodwill to peruse for work clothes. I came across this "manager special" bin, which contained items that were like $4 or something crazy. I saw this purse that was weirdly two toned in color and noticed that there were a lot of them. Like fifteen. Most of them were packaged, but there were one or two open ones. I looked at the opened ones and noticed that there was a stain on it in very similar places around the handle, probably from when the manufacturer was coloring the handle. I looked at the other ones to see if they had the same stain and this lady (who probably works there) yells something like THERE ARE OPEN ONES; DO NOT OPEN THE PACKAGES. And I told her that I was looking for the stain, and she said, "Those are brand new; they are not stained." I pointed to the stain and she just said something about how they retail for $50 and how I should be thankful that they are so heavily discounted. Um, thanks? I continue looking for an unblemished purse, and another dude (who also probably works there) yells at me and tells me that there are open ones available and that I shouldn't touch the unopened ones at all. At that point, I just gave up and walked out. This is a Goodwill and people should be treated with some respect. read more

The best goodwill/thrift store in San Francisco. Ive been going to this store ever since they were still across the street (now the DOSA restaurant) and have seen them get better with age, like a fine wine. This last year they just started putting up these amazing displays inside the store and in their front window. Its worth walking by just to check them out! The staff does a great job of running the store, and instead of getting your average run down thrift store feeling you get with most Goodwill's, it feels comes off more like a buffalo exchange or crossroads trading (also up the street) inside. If you put the time into hunting you can find anything here! The manager, I think his name is Lonnie, runs a beautiful store, and is more helpful than any goodwill manager Ive met to date, other than at the clement store (check that one out too, not as clean but almost as good). Oh, on a ending note, the music at this goodwill is always a different treat, in the morning Ive noticed its always classic 50's 60's usual thrift store hits, but in the afternoon they play a great mix of chill out, down tempo, dub, even ambient breaks. I guess someone there has a taste for slow techno....makes shopping a psychedelic experience. I'll keep coming back! Thanks you guys for making shopping at thrift stores a pleasure! read more
