I worked at this Goodwill location and have taken some time to reflect before writing this review. I truly hoped my experience would improve, because when I first started everyone seemed friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, that first impression did not match the reality of working there. Training was minimal, and I was expected to figure out most responsibilities on my own. Instead of receiving consistent guidance and support, I often had to rely on trial and error. As time went on, it became clear that management treated employees differently depending on who they liked. There were obvious favorites who were allowed to do very little work while others were expected to carry the workload without recognition or support. The biggest problem at this location is the management culture. It is, without question, the most toxic work environment I have ever experienced. Concerns brought to management were ignored, especially if they involved employees who were considered favorites. Rather than addressing problems fairly, management often appeared to dismiss complaints and protect certain individuals. This created a workplace where accountability was inconsistent and morale steadily declined. Professionalism was also lacking. It was common to hear managers gossiping about employees and customers instead of leading by example. Rather than creating a respectful and supportive workplace, the environment often felt negative and divisive. Several managers spent more time in the office on their phones or socializing than assisting employees on the sales floor. The lack of leadership left staff feeling unsupported and overwhelmed. I was recently terminated for reasons that I still do not fully understand. What makes that especially frustrating is that I witnessed other employees engage in the same behaviors I was accused of without facing any consequences. Whether intentional or not, the inconsistent enforcement of policies created the impression that disciplinary decisions depended more on personal relationships than on company standards. I also observed practices that concerned me as a customer. On multiple occasions, when merchandise did not have a price tag, prices appeared to be determined arbitrarily rather than according to a consistent pricing policy. That raises concerns about fairness and transparency. Perhaps the most disappointing part of my experience was watching so many good employees leave because of the work environment. There seemed to be a constant cycle of people quitting due to poor management, favoritism, lack of communication, and workplace drama. Instead of asking why employees were unhappy, management appeared to focus on protecting themselves and maintaining their inner circle. I was also deeply troubled by comments I heard were made regarding people in recovery from addiction. As someone in recovery myself, hearing that individuals with a history of addiction were viewed as "those kinds of people" was incredibly disheartening. Goodwill's mission is centered on providing opportunities and helping people overcome barriers to employment. Hearing attitudes that seemed inconsistent with those values was one of the most disappointing aspects of my experience. Goodwill promotes itself as an organization that changes lives and provides second chances. Unfortunately, this location did not reflect those values. Employees deserve to be treated with fairness, respect, and professionalism--not favoritism, gossip, intimidation, and inconsistent discipline. There were a few employees who genuinely cared about their coworkers and customers, and they are the only reason I would ever return to this location. They deserved much better leadership than they received. I sincerely hope corporate leadership and Human Resources take employee concerns seriously and evaluate the management at this location. Good employees are leaving, workplace morale is suffering, and unless meaningful changes are made, I believe the problems will continue. . read more

I used to enjoy shopping here. But had a bad experience with manager. I was sent a coupon from Goodwill. It was actually Thrift Day so I was excited to get a coupon for 30% off. They acted so confused and did everything in their wil to prove me wrong. She said where is the email from because it's not from Goodwill. It obviously said Goodwill. Talked to me like I was an Idiot. This is the only bad experience I've had there. And all she said was sorry. And bye. No compassion. This company has gone so greedy. Taking away military discounts and senior discounts. This place has lost a loyal customer. Be careful if you get a coupon. They don't honor anything with that manager. It's probably a marketing technique to get you to go and say it's wrong not from Goodwill. read more

The Home Edit was here! Check out the colorful rainbow in the women's T-shirts! I love it!! It shows great care that Goodwill would take the time to arrange T-shirts by color. Just a quick stop in to look for a T-shirt today, but I didn't find any that I could live without. Last visit I found a cool retro looking "Life is Good" T-Shirt with a V neckline that I just love!! This is my first time at this location. We're here for my daughter concert project. She needs clothes in the 80' for music class. The store was organized and cleaned. We found many sections for men, women and children clothes. My son bought a game called "AAPLES TO APPLES" and it was only 5$! It was such a steal because the deck was barely touched and almost mint condition. The store was organized and not that sanitary. The kitchen area was very dusty and unorganized compared to the clothes section. It was kinda neat though. I would most likely come back again if I wanted to save a couple bucks on some games or clothes. read more

I really like this Goodwill location! It is very convienently located for me, and I came for the first time a month or so ago and have been back one since then. Both trips were very pleasant and fruitful. Employees are friendly, and I have not seen it very busy where there is a line to check out. The store is very clean and fairly organized. Like most Goodwills and resale stores in general, the selection is completely hit or miss. There is definitely some digging and time required to find the treasures, but isn't that half the fun? read more

Awful Goodwill location. Cluttered, unorganized. The help there seem to be short with you when you ask questions, if there's price tags missing which is quite a few items they really don't want to take it to the back to research and get a new price on there. And when they do they Mark the price up because they know you're interested. Management here is not friendly, no one here seems to smile, difficult to get access to the changing rooms. Only went to drop off donation items and didn't go inside. But after pulling up a young lady came out to help me unload she was friendly and helpful. She thanked me for the donation and told me to have a great rest of the day. It's so nice when I'm donating items and the employees there are friendly and seem to be glad your donations help support their jobs. I don't find this Goodwill to be as exciting as other locations, but that could be because they are newer and haven't had a chance to get a lot of cool things yet. We've been working hard to declutter and get rid of all excess objects in our home. The nearest Goodwills were in Bartlett and southeastern Glendale Heights, so this closer place is greatly appreciated. It's going to be so much more convenient for dropping off donations, particularly since it's on the way to and from the PetSmart that I visit weekly. We went in to see what they have to offer and I didn't come across anything I couldn't live without. They have a lot of clothes but the selection of other things seems limited. I think not many people know this place exists yet, so hopefully they'll get more business. Perhaps it's better I can't find things I want to buy here, though. read more

I am not sure what happened to this store as its really changed. I love thrift stores as one never knows what you will find. Like the brand new gas grill valued at $300 for $80.00 with the tags still on it that we found at a different Goodwill store. This location is not very clean and the ladies room was pretty gross. I love Vera Bradley bags so when I saw a Vera Bradley tote bag I went right to it. It was faded and well worn. The price? $30. Seriously? I have Vera Bradley tote bags bought at a Vera Bradley store that I bought new for $30 to $40. Next! Tee shirts, old and faded for close to $6. I can buy brand new at Kohl's for $6. Decent sized Goodwill with lots of hidden treasures waiting for you to find!

Delusional and unreasonable. My hobby is jigsaw puzzles. I went into the store today while in the area to see if there were any puzzles that caught my eye. Yes, there were a half-dozen puzzle that interested me, but the prices are unreasonable. These puzzles sell brand NEW at the dollar store for.... you guessed it... a $1. Yet this Goodwill location sells these same USED puzzles for a $1.99! How are you selling used items for twice the original price, with no guarantee they are complete, nor allowing a refund if pieces are missing. This is not vintage stuff; the dollar store still stocks these items. Why would I buy a Cardinal puzzle, Puzzlebug puzzle, etc. USED for $1.99 when I can get the exact same puzzle brand new at the dollar store for $1 ??? I guess maybe Goodwill is hoping to take advantage of customers that don't know any better. Maybe it is true -- "there is a fool born every minute." Folks-- beware-- do a price compare before making your purchase! On a separate note, the cashier Kathy is a delightful, pleasant lady. read more

I really like this Goodwill location. It is fairly new and well organized. I have saved hundreds of dollars over the last few years, at least. Many times, you can find brand new items, with the tag on, for $4 or $5. Like all Goodwills, they are hit and miss. Sometimes I find a whole cartload of items, sometimes nothing. The books are very reasonably priced. I can frequently find used books my children need for school for under $2, originally $12-15. The reason this is 4 stars, instead of 5 stars, is because they have changed their rewards program. Instead of getting money off with each purchase, you have to spend $100 to get a $5 gift certificate. The problem is the certificate express in 30 days, and many times I can't find anything or I just forget to use it. I have lost $20 in rewards certificates because they keep expiring before I can use them. read more

Lizette is a very helpful associate here. I bought a table and of all the associates she was most helpful. Being a new associate, she went out of her way to find out what the hold time was. Ii saw her be the one to carry it to the back after I purchased and when I came back, she was the one truly assisting in helping me load the table. The teenage associates did as little as possible to pitch in, almost making things more difficult. Goodwill has an asset in Lizette as their employee. read more

**UPDATE** - This is a quick update to the Goodwill in Bloomingdale on Army Trail Road. I've tried to visit this place a few times and was pleasantly surprised! I think it is also because that former manager that was there is now gone. As with most stores they probably get shifted around. I must say that this place has great quality items and reasonably priced. I was able to find several household items which are lightly used or brand new from Target. They had a great selection of window treatments and blinds. While the display case is not the best there, most other items are a great find overall. Make sure to get your member rewards card and take advantage of the scratch discount including the 15th of each month for the "bounce-back" coupons (20% off for 3 days thereafter). I recommend this location now and try to donate as much as I can to help others! read more

This Goodwill was a bit underwhelming. The selection was meh and felt like it needed some personality. Admittedly that's an odd complaint about a thrift store but most places have some quirky donated things to at least amuse your eyes even if you don't buy them. This place is very well kept. But the main thing that stood out to me was the customer service. I had brought a drink in with me, and I didnt want to just leave it on the floor. So I located a worker and asked her where the nearest trash was, and instead of pointing it out, she took it for me and threw it away herself. Such a small thing can make a big difference. Stay away! This one is by far the most OVERPRICED and DISORGANIZED. The manager (blonde lady with glasses) prices everything above it's value. I see the same items week after week. She is not helpful either. On multiple occasions, she ignored groups of people needing assistance to go rearrange some clothes. read more

It's the worst Goodwill ever. The manager is an old grumpy lady who had no manner and she always looked frown and rude. It's like someone forced her to work there and she hates her job. I went two time and I hated the store. The best Goodwill stores are the one on Sant Chales and Elgin. read more

There was a day about a month back where I went into the store and noticed water on the floor. Dirty water. The store was still open for business despite there being water on the sales floor near merchandise. After leaving the store, I called the store in hopes to speak to a manager. I talked with an employee (a man I think) named Autum(?), who denied that there was any water on the floor and also blatantly lied to me, telling me that the store was closed for cleaning. Despite me being there not even 10 minutes previous to my phone call. Then she hung up on me. I was not at all pleased with the customer service I received from this employee as he was quite rude on the phone. But other than that this goodwill isn't awful. It still has the weird odor but it's clean and organized. Also, the cashiers are helpful and nice. read more
