This was a great store me and my wife stumbled upon. This place had a whole bunch of outstanding home Goods, clothes, furniture and unique finds all at a great price. Staff here was nice too. I feel bad writing this because I LOVE their cause. But I can't in good conscience stand by without calling out the recent changes that have happened. Since the new manager started, there's been a sudden, excessive increase in price and decrease in good sales. Beforehand, their pricing was a little eye roll-worthy. But it felt somewhat justified for the cause. Now, though? It's hard not to scoff loudly and keep your thoroughly unimpressed "WOWs" and "Oh my god" to yourself. You'd think their half-off-color-of-the-*month* (no longer of-the-week) would make the pricing feel more affordable. But you'd be wrong! The half-off pricing is oftentimes still more expensive than you'd ever want to pay in a thrift store. To make matters worse, though, they don't always change the color each month. It's been almost 7 weeks since they switched the color. So it's been the same crappy sale for that entire time. And, no shock to anyone, TONS of the sale items are still available, despite this long-running sale. Ultimately, though, what bothers me about their pricing is that they're supposed to be an organization who helps domestic violence survivors. Yes, they give them vouchers to shop at their store, which is awesome. But what if those same people want to come back and buy something like a "regular" customer? Will they be able to afford any clothing for themselves or their kids? I highly doubt it. The majority cost about the same or more than they do brand new in store, so why would anyone with little disposable income come shop here? It honestly feels like you're doing the people you're supposed to serve a huge disservice. Like "oh people who can donate to our cause can shop here, but as a recipient of the cause, you can't afford it." Just seems wrong to me. Plus, with pricing like that, you'd expect the store to be organized to the gills. Instead, hangers are often haphazardly shoved wherever, making the racks cluttered and difficult to sort through. When I worked retail, we would've gotten into a LOT of trouble if we left the racks like that--especially given the price point. I have much higher expectations of a store who prices themselves like a boutique, despite running on donations. I will say this, though, the majority of the staff are an absolute pleasure to see! They're so kind and sweet. I love chit chatting with them! Well, except this one woman who I suspect is the new manager. I've had a number-of-interactions with her, but this one really stood out. A few months ago, they ran an additional sale on sweaters. Any sweaters except purple tags were $5. I found a cool, vintage one. At checkout she tried charging me full-price, and claimed it wasn't a sweater, despite pulling it directly from their sweater rack. I explained my stance, and another person working there piped up and said "that's a sweater if I ever saw one!" The woman glared at both of us and said "fine. I guess today it is." All that being said, I do still shop here. But I never pay full price and always expect to walk out empty-handed. The store has a good vibe, aside from the serious grift! read more

I've been on the hunt for a certain size lamp and stumbled on Treasure House. What a GEM! Everyone that works here is a volunteer and all donations are priced very very (very) reasonably. All proceeds go towards an organization that provides mental health to people in the community. Aside from all the GOOD stuff about the who/how, the actual donated merchandise is also SO GOOD! The art! The clothes! The glassware! The jewelry! The collectibles! Everything is curated nicely and clearly priced. Prices are to move - they even have a little area with baskets where you can put your things "on hold" while you go try things on. The music was also fun. I was humming along to all the songs! Parking is very easy right out front now that all that messy construction is gone! What a literal treasure to find this place! read more

Great place to shop. There are some nice shops in Glen Ellyn and every time i am in town, i try to stop by. I bought a lovely mid century dresser there for only 55.00. They have monthly specials and sometimes I find the best items on the " sale " shelves for only 1.00. Last month I bought a silver plate platter for only 1.00. I believe they take donations of gently used items. Although there is not much parking in front of the building, they have their phone number listed on the door and you can call for someone to come out to get the donations out of your car. They will come to your garage too and pick up things that even Salvation Army would not take. A great place to donate and shop and since they have had their renovation and new management, their prices have actually gone lower than many other resale shops in the area. read more

Treasure House is a wonderful place to shop for all kinds of "treasures." This place donates all proceeds to Metropolitan Family Services which is a non profit organization located downtown Wheaton which is also their Du Page headquarters. Everyone who works there is a volunteer. The store takes donations of all kinds of goods, such as: China, crystal, pictures, furniture, clothing, shoes etc. I purchased 2 beautiful Chinese vases for very reasonable prices. You can always find something great at Treasure House. What I love most is that shopping there gives back to those in need. This truly makes a difference in the lives of many. read more

I love Treasure House! This is a wonderful place to do business with. The staff is as friendly as it gets and their record keeping is so much better than other companies I have dealt with. Each time you bring items in for consignment you receive a detailed list of what you brought in, price is decided right then and there and they ask your opinion on what they price it out at. You can pick up your item at any time, or if you decide, you can donate the item at the end of consignment at know that you are making a donation for the community. The detail they put in to your paperwork is priceless. The quality of the items they offer is wonderful! I love the little treasures I find there. And knowing that the money I spend in the store helps the community makes it even better. read more

I wanted to love this place and support a local resale business. The merchandise was nice, the store was charming and smelled nice (some resale shops are a little unpleasant), but I could have done without the parting xenophobic Donald Trump-inspired comment as my bag of merchandise was handed to me. It was just one woman's opinion, but it was unprofessional and spoiled the entire experience. Had I not already paid, I likely would have turned around and walked out. Again, I'm sure she doesn't represent the entire store's staff, but there is no place in business for that behavior. read more

This place is a mixed bag. I go to resale shops to look for vintage items and once in a while will find things here. They have a lot of older furniture, but most are damaged pieces or just out of date. Also their prices seem high to me for the condition they are in. You can find some nice glassware and China here but you will pay a good price for it. They carry some Jewelry but most pieces are damaged or cheap. Better items that are in glass cabinets are priced high. You would do better going to Ebay or Etsy for Vintage Jewelry and glassware. read more

The prices in this place really went up! And I'm not just talking about the stuff on consignment. There was a little second hand basket with some garden markers in them made of clay- $10 they wanted! I could buy 2 new ones for that price. And the price of the clothes went way up too. It sucks. I'll wait for the garage sales. read more

It was like walking into someone's home and see all the beautiful ways they have decorated with the items for sale. I couldn't help myself but come back again and again to shop here. My experience was quite the opposite of the last reviewer. I was fully informed by the manager about how the consignment worked. I did some research prior to consigning and found Treasure House supports Metropolitan Family Services. I was told up front that it was a two month period for resale, and that they had to send the paper work off site for processing, which may take up to two weeks after the consignment period was over. I knew what to expect. This is a nice shop and the management were very helpful. It is so much different than it was three years ago. They have undergone some changes. I understand they have a number of volunteers helping there. I was thrilled to have had the opportunity to help the cause. My items sold in the first month and I received a check promptly. I will sell here again. It is a beautiful shop. I also donated some things and was happy to know they were a 501c3 charity. Let's give them a break. They are only trying to help others. read more

If you're selling, go somewhere else. This place used to give good value on consignment, and my things sold quickly . . . . but now, they want it cheap cheap cheap . . . or better yet, they want it for free. (comment to me, in aggressive tone as I walked in was "that's a donation ?" The unpleasant pricing person said they would price my item at $12 (from which I would get about $7.20). The item I had brought in was almost new (a new one sells for ~ $125 in stores), and I was thinking of putting a price of $55 on it (from which i would get about $33) Needless to say, I have found another place to sell my things on consignment. read more

This is a great little thrift shop and very reasonably priced. It is always well decorated and all of the volunteers have been friendly and kind. Over the last year, I found a beautiful contemporary mailbox for $15, a cute table for $10, a lovely mirrored wine tray for $12, and the best deal of all a brand new large cuisinart for $25. Bad business. Consigned pristine Queen Anne living room furniture to this store. Told the manager do not break up coffee and end tables sell as a set. Store called 60th day stating all the items had been sold except the two end tables. Went to pick up the end tables and a check for the items that were sold and retrieved two severely damaged solid cherry end tables. No excuse and no check either. Manager stated they will have a check in two to three weeks. List of sold items was not numbered or date stamped to validate the 20% mark down on all but one item consigned. 15 days later we were told a check was ready. The amount was $238.00 for a couch, winged arm chair, coffee table, console table and small kidney table all in beautiful condition. This furniture could have been sold out right to a dealer for double that or sold online for triple to a private party. Ironically the end tables tops were refinished and the tables were sold in 12 days for $150.00 when the other items took 75 days to be paid for. Why should it take15 days after the sale of the furniture to be payed by a check written on the stores own account. They are partners with a charity and that is why I trusted them. This is a mistake I will never make again. That is why I normally only give to St Jude research or Misericordia because there is no doubt about the good they do. In the past if I had items to donate it has always been to the Stars resale shop in Wheaton because I now it benefits challenged adults that really need support and I have seen whom they help. I would certainly not recommend consigning anything of value at the Treasure House. read more
