The selection here was ok. We were coming from out of town but were looking for Knick knacks and some items for our trip. B

This was one of the last places we checked out while me and my wife were in the area. This place featured a really huge donation center and the retail store was moderately sized. It's a very clean location and it's got a fair selection of clothing, games and random stuff. Staff here was not too friendly unfortunately. I did enjoy the changing rooms that are present and the restrooms here were modestly clean. Lines to check out were not too long at all. Vast selection of options in the women's section when it comes to clothing and accessories. Overall, I thought this was an average Goodwill worth checking out. read more

Don't know what happened since I was last there. They changed the.receipt for drop offs. I went in and the place seemed disorganized. They moved men's tee shirts from where they used to be. $7 for a men's tee. Can get them for that brand new at Ross! Place seemed dirty and disorganized. Store looked like it was hit by a tornado on the inside - completely unkept and messy. It looked like stuff was "just thrown on" most of the shelves. I love going to Goodwills and donating. Sometimes I will go from one GoodWill store to another if there is something I am looking for. This particular location was just a mess... Probably would not come here as often. read more

Pricing used to be really inflated at the store, but now it seems they have changed some workers and things are back to being reasonable again. My only complaint is that they never ever have try on rooms open. You always have to hunt down somebody to open one for you. read more

One of my favorite Goodwills in the area. Usually find something worthwhile. I drive more than 30 minutes just to visit this location.

This Goodwill is a little bit off the beaten path, at the back end of a strip mall. The strip mall itself is not very busy, so in and out was easy, as was parking. This would be a great location to donate as well, since it didn't appear to be as hectic here. The store itself was nice enough, but had a few quirks. They had a brand new Kate Spade dress that they were trying to get $100 for. In thrift world, that's just insane! I like looking through dresses, but had a hard time finding them- they seem randomly placed in a back corner by children's clothes and toys. Their shoe area is also pretty small compared to other stores I've gone to. They did offer a maternity section though, and I was able to find a few items there, which was great. I would definitely return in the future. read more

This Goodwill store was extremely well organized. I was impressed by the signage, shelving, and layout. First i dropped off a bag of donations and received a tax receipt, then i went into the store and purchased a replacement bag of mostly 99-cent CDs. I'm a big fan of Goodwill Industries. They train underemployed and unemployed people (ie. poor) to work by raising them up in the Goodwill stores. Employees have to be taught everything from how to be on time for their shift, how to speak to customers, how to complete tasks, how to handle a cash register, how to dress... Eventually they can move on to real world jobs. It's a beautiful system. They receive resume help and interview training, interview clothing, shoes - very important things to give people a hand up and teach them how to become financially independent. read more

I've never been inside a Goodwill store. I don't know why, TBH. Sure, I drop things off religiously, but not once had I been inspired to set foot inside. But, money's tight and I'm starting to really look for ways to save a dollar here or there. So a few weeks ago, I decided to stop in and see what it was all about. I'm so glad I did! Walking in, I immediately noticed jeans. Lots and lots and lots of jeans. I found a few pairs I liked, tried them on, and found one pair I deemed as a keeper. $4.99, say what?!?! I felt like I hit the jackpot. Feeling inspired, I checked out the sweaters and long sleeve shirts. I managed to find a thin, gray fitted long sleeve shirt (great for layering) for $3.99, and a pink fluffy sweater, perfect for work or weekend for $4.99. I did check out some of the houseware items, and immediately I found a wooden giraffe picture, perfect for my sister who just had a baby and has the whole giraffe theme going on. And score, it was $2.99. This store is clean, and the shirts arranged by color pleased my OCD self. Yes, I'm one of those that arranges my closet by color. If I would have had a bit more time, I'm sure I would have discovered more office appropriate clothes, which I'm in need of. I did find some great dress pants, but none in my size unfortunately. There looked to be a decent selection of shoes, but I just can't seem to bring myself to buy used shoes. It just creeps me out. read more

this is my favorite goodwill, but today the lady working the dressing rooms was very frustrating with me. she was talking under her breath about me and made me take few items in at a time. I go here often and never have they asked me to do that. After I was done she argued with me that the clothes weren't neatly on the hangers. And i get it because I work in resale too but when clothes aren't "neat enough" you as the employee fix the clothes not argue with a teenage customer to fix them to your standards. For years, I used to LOVE this goodwill and would check back religiously. Like, 70% of my wardrobe came from here--they always had such unique, affordable stuff. A few years before COVID, things started changing. Prices increased, but you could still find some diamonds in the rough. Their weekly sale tags (50% off) and rewards program still made it worth checking out. Since the pandemic hit, though, it's gotten way out-of-hand. I used to be able to pick up 6-8 pieces of clothing for $25. Now that would barely get me 2-3 pieces...if I'm lucky. I'm not coming in to pay $10+ for a Target or other fast fashion dress--especially not a secondhand one. Can you say thrift grift? Plus, the pricing is super erratic. I understand they're volunteers and don't have a deep knowledge of brands and pricing (for any department, not just apparel & shoes). But it's super off-putting to see 1 thoroughly used item with pills/rips/stains marked for an obscene price, while another better-quality item is cheaper (but still expensive), than the first one. It makes you feel like they just slap whatever price they want, then roll with it. And because I rarely shop here anymore, the rewards program is no longer an incentive. Though, I will say, they do occasionally have the most random, awesome stuff, and the staff's lack-of-knowledge can work to your advantage. I once picked up a brand new case for my bow for $4, which normally retails for $300+. So I guess in that sense it's still worth a quick walk-through. But if you're going for something specific and expecting reasonable pricing, then 99% of the time you'll be disappointed. read more

Well! I came here in search of ugly sweaters and found much more... I used to shop at Goodwill ALL the time. I'm not sure what changed, but I somehow got out of the habit. It was great for finding strange and unique pieces for my crazy wardrobe in high school and college. Maybe as my tastes have aged (read: become more dull), I forgot how a thrift store can be a clothing jackpot. My memory has been sufficiently jogged by this visit! I did find the ugly sweaters I was looking for, for the whole fam (we have a party tomorrow), but there were plenty of just fine clothes I'd wear regularly, too. And why not? I know our family donates some decent stuff here, and we are obviously not the only ones. I like this location for its convenient drop off...you can almost just drive thru, and they're good about providing a receipt if you need one for tax deduction. I did read that Goodwill's CEO is making a killing though, which causes me to pause and doubt the authenticity of the company's mission. However, when you are in a hurry to get rid of awful gifts people have given your children before anyone notices they're missing, this place can't be beat. read more

This Goodwill is blatantly racist and discriminatory, they believe every Hispanic there is either attempting to steal or switch prices. I am a young Hispanic female and me and my mother have faced this issue 2. And both occurrences were in this particular goodwill. The second time was today, I was trying to purchase some squishamallows for my nephews. But when I went up to the register they took the prices off and basically accused me of changing the prices. And I had found a few without a price sticker, so when I asked they looked at me and my mother and then gave a drastically high price for a stuffed animal. It's sad since they are getting this stuff DONATED and that they are treating persons of color this way. DO NOT GO TO THIS GOODWILL. Allol of the other goodwills treat people with respect and have always had consistent prices. This goodwill is not consistent with their pricing, the manager needs to address this issue. read more

This place is quite the treasure trove. You can find lots here, but you have to go in and dig around. It's not going to pop out at you! I was shocked at how clean this store was. It is definitely missing that musty, basement smell that lots of secondhand stores have. I have bought a few clothing items here.and the dressing rooms are very nice. There is tons of kitchen stuff here and I just got some spoons for 10 cents each. I don't know what the deal is with spoons in my house, but they disappear frequently. They probably go to that spot with the socks that you can't find. The staff here is very pleasant, better than some of the employees at regular retail stores. This store gets a low rating from our family, because they dont seem to turn their ac on! Another shopper complained that she saw the thermostat and temp was at 75! That is not cool, that's even too warm for winter weather! We've been in a few times in the last two months and it IS hot humid summer weather, so, we expect the stores to be cooling! I was there today looking at a purse . I opened the purse and inside there was some cheap rusted costume jewelry that had missing stones. An Afro American employee grabs the purse from me and says rudely we don't sell jewelry and grabs the purse from me . I wanted to purchase the purse. My question was why I couldn't buy the purse. It's not my fault that someone in the back didn't remove the cheap rusted broken jewelry from the purse before putting it on the floor. She could have said to me do you want the purse. TERRIBLE. DO NOT DONATE TO THIS STORE. I work for an estate sale company and have been donating to Goodwill, every week after a sale, for over two years now. I have NEVER had as terrible of an experience as I had yesterday. I came to the store with a full 17ft truck and not a SINGLE person helped carry ANYTHING off the truck. The employee, Miguel, didn't help me carry anything, nor did he help anyone who came while I was there. All he did was roll the blue bins in and out. He even brought bins out to me and went back in the store EMPTY HANDED. I have donated thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of items at this specific location (520 South Schmale Road, Carol Stream, IL) and will NEVER be going back again. I will also be following up with a formal complaint with the store. This type of service is UNACCEPTABLE and is making me reconsider taking all future items to any Goodwill store. read more

I hate their (CAROL STREAM) pricing because there is NO consistency at all. During the summer I found tank tops that varied from $2 to $7 and not because of the "brand" name. One pair of jeans will be $4 and others $8 (again, not brand related). Shirts are the same way. Oh, and a note to GoodWill, Levi jeans are not designer...duh! BTW....shop with caution (AT ALL GOODWILLS) as they do not inspect their merchandise to ensure it is not damaged. read more

Despite the one star rate, I want to note that one of the employees deserves notice. I'm sorry, I can't remember if his name was Elliott or Eugene. But, not only was he incredibly friendly and personable, but he mentioned how he often takes the time to hand picks books that he thinks customers will enjoy and displays them in front. I hope he will be praised for his work and manner. The issue I had with this store in general, were the prices. I have noticed all Goodwill stores' prices have been rising for quite some time now, however this one's in particular were shocking. The outrageous prices for lower end quality merchandise and the over-charging of Target or Dollar Tree branded items are offensive. We often shop thrift shops in the area including Goodwill stores, and Goodwill, hands down, takes the cake for the most exorbitant costing merchandise out of every other thrift store in the region. For example, there was a sun dress in the front marked at $100. What kind of thrift store thinks $100 is appropriate for a simple dress? They must have forgot that these are donations that they received for *free* and sell for *charity*. This is unethical and greedy. The Wheaton store is not even the first Goodwill to be guilty of this behavior either. I have visited and reviewed several others whom I observed severely overpricing donations. Nearly all stores have stopped selling jewelry or else place a small number of (cheap Target branded or costume pieces) in the locked cases. All others we noticed are now being sold ONLINE for auction. Greed at its finest. I don't think we will be shopping at Goodwill anymore until they address and adjust their price ethics and I suggest that everyone boycott as well. read more

This is hands down *the* cleanest Goodwill that I have ever visited. The only thing that gives it away as a used goods store was a few items that were dotted by bleach stains and marked slightly higher than I think they should have been. Everything else was in great condition and very well organized. I had no problem locating a pair of jean shorts to complete my Sun Drop girl costume for ACen. I also found five other pairs of shorts and a dozen green shirts. The man working the Dressing Rooms didn't hassle me about wanting to try on so many things. He simply reminded me to remove all articles of clothing from the stall when I was finished. read more

This place is awesome for cheap and quality second-hand clothing. There are fitting rooms to try on stuff, which is awesome. There are plenty of employees to help take away things that don't fit and ring up your purchases. The clothing is organized by color and size, which makes for an easy shopping experience. The quality is great considering the price and selection. They have belts too, and most of them are $1 a piece! I grabbed like a handful of them lol. Needless to say, I won't need to buy belts for a while...Books are really cheap too. I didn't look at anything but books and clothes, so I don't remember what else they were selling, or the quality of it. I think that the closest competitor would be the Salvation Army. I don't know the differences between them behind the scenes wise, but I would recommend going to both and setting aside plenty of time to browse. The average clothing item (shirt maybe) at Goodwill costs about $4 maybe, and the average shirt costs like $1-$2 at the Salvation Army. Summary: Goodwill has better quality stuff than Salvation Army, and it's better organized (by size and color, whereas it's just by color at the Salvation Army...That means looking through tons and tons of stuff that's not your size! How annoying!). If you're patient, you can find some really great stuff at ridiculously low prices at the Salvation Army. But between the two, I'd pick Goodwill. read more

This review is for the Carol Stream Goodwill Industries! Hands-down this is my FAVORITE place to go when I have some time to grab some deals for unique items. I've visited to several other locations and this by far is my most favorite location. The place is very clean, the staff is always friendly and nice especially Pat. The other staff is constantly changing so its hard to keep track of them. Now first and foremost, I'm not a fan of purchasing used items, in fact I hardly if ever do buy anything that is used. I am always surprised with the generous amount of electronics that is like a blast from the past. I'm somewhat of an electronics geek and constantly look at old technology which ranges from original Nintendo, typewriters, record players and Atari to name a few. I am always on the lookout for those excellent clearance items that Target generously donates to Goodwill. The prices are usually really good compared to other locations too. For example, I found an item for sale at the Glendale Heights location which was over the full asking price if I were to buy the item brand new at Target. I argued with the staff who secretly took the item to the back of the swinging doors and somehow they determined that was the price of the item. I said for that price and for that item, "No, thank-you". Several days I went there, I found the same item on the shelf untouched and with the same asking price. Silly stupid reasoning of how things are supposed to be priced, but I digress. If you're a fan of checking out those clearance items at the end caps of Target which I am, this is the place where you'll find those items as they end up at Goodwill. Goodwill provides good training opportunities to those who would not be otherwise working. Superb place that I highly recommend for checking it out as you'll never know what you'll find. Bring $10 or $20, you'll be surprised how long that will go there. I also recommend you sign up for their rewards card, which offers $5 off coupons for future purchases. read more
