Great selection, very orderly, super friendly staff! I browsed and found several items I needed. At the front, staff happily help me look at the jewelry in the display and generally carried on pleasant conversation about pieces as I looked. My adult son asked to see the violin for sale and tuned it, and then played a bit of a song. Staff enjoyed it and brought out a guitar and talked with us about it too. The mystery item in the display case turned out to be cute animal silver plated birthday candle holders, as Google identified. We had a fun visit to Savers, and the staff were a big part of the reason. read more

This is a great resale shop to both donate to and to shop at! I made multiple trips during the week to donate items as I was cleaning out my mom's home and Josh was great at helping to get the items donated into his rolling bin. He was genuine in thanking me for my donation with proceeds benefiting the epilepsy foundation. Another young man and young lady were pleasant and helpful on other trips as well. You receive a coupon good for $2 off of a $5 purchase or save 20% off of a $100 purchase. One thing I didn't realize is that you have to take a survey in order to get the code so you can use the coupon. I was in the middle of checking out and Taylor was very kind and patient as I finished my survey so I could redeem my coupon. When they closed the fitting rooms during COVID I was disappointed but figured it was a safety measure since most stores did the same. However, during a recent visit I saw they completely ripped the fitting rooms out altogether and that corner is now empty. How can you sell so much clothing and not offer a way for customers to try it on before purchase?!? That move combined with rising prices defeats the purpose of reseal shops - to help people find quality clothing at an affordable price while cutting down on unwanted clothes in landfills. The only people who are going to keep buying clothes are those who are flipping them online. Way to deal a blow to your local community, Savers! I personally won't be buying much here anymore unless I can try it on over my clothes because as most people know, women's clothes in particular follow no logical sizing rules - you can try on 15 different items of the same "size" and they will all fit differently. That severely limits what I can purchase here moving forward since they do not offer refunds and you must exchange any unwanted clothing within 14 days. This change makes me both sad and angry because a good portion of the clothing I've purchased in the past five years came from Savers. Such a shame, really. WHOA. If I could sum this place up in one sentence: A spacious resale store with organized aisles filled with hit or miss finds at slightly higher-than-Goodwill prices. Before walking inside, I was expecting something similar to the Salvation Army and Goodwill: dim lighting, narrow aisles, and cluttered items tossed on the shelves. The brightly-lit store, wide aisles, and large, organized sections were a surprise to me. Immediately upon walking in, I was greeted with a very large book section (buy four books, get one free). I snatched up a find -- The Kind Diet (by Alicia Silverstone) for only $3! Sweet! As I slowly made my way around the perimeter of the store, I discovered items placed in plastic bags (I'm not sure why....) and hung on the wall in an organized fashion. Toys were spread out on shelves, accessories hung on the wall, and clothes were divided by gender and type (including an ugly xmas sweater section!). They even had 'fancy jewelry' section near the shoes where the jewelry was locked under glass counters. Pretty much everything and anything was available here, but it was mostly home decor, clothes, and fabrics. Their shoe section was pretty large, too. My husband found a really nice winter jacket for only $15. That saved us a lot of money from having to search at a department store for the same thing. Everything else I had my eye on wasn't really worth the price so I didn't leave with anything aside from the book I found. Savers prices are lower than the stores where the items came from, but if you're really a thrifty penny-pincher, you're better off going somewhere else. I'm really happy my husband made us stop here, though. In my quest to buy more used goods, this has been added to the rotation of stores to stop at. read more

Was in recently and added a $6 tip for server. However, whomever rang up my tab, failed to include the tip. I discovered the error a week later and called to inform manager. The only way the manager could add the server's tip was to create an additional charge, at my expense. I agreed to the additional charge, but I didn't like it, thought it was stupid. My suggestion to ownership is that it's time to 1) send that manager back to manager school and 2) send ownership back to How to Train Managers School. Actually, it appears that ownership has managers on such a tight leash, there is no latitude for managers to adjust for something like this, which is not an uncommon situation. Savers is a large thrift store located off of Gary Avenue in Carol Stream. The first thing to note about Savers is the sheer size of the building, it's two to three times the size of most Goodwill or Salvation army stores. I collect old retro video games and to a degree other vintage electronics, so when I visit thirft stores I'm looking for electronics stuff. A lot of common things (CRT TVs, VHS players, etc) found in most thrift stores seem to be 3-4 times as expensive at Savers compared to Goodwill and other thrift stores. If it's something I REALLY want I might be tempted to thrown down the money for it, but when buying used electronics you're taking a big risk that it's even going to work. Based on the higher than other thrifts pricing I'm going to give Savers two stars, decent selection of stuff but too much risk for the reward. read more

I've been to two other Savers in the area and had much happier hunting here. (It's a good sign when a thrift store is near a fancy granite counters place; fancier neighborhood means fancier donations.) The cookbook selection is vast; more vegetarian cookbooks than I've ever seen at a thriftstore, including a couple of Moosewood /Katzen and even some vegan cookbooks (Moskowitz!), in addition to some Pillsbury dessert cookbooks and a couple of old American Culinary Institute cookbooklets. They even had Jamaican cookbooks. Shoes are sorted by style (sandals and boots separate) and size, though prices are very optimistic ($15 for a pair of used heels?). Clothing is all sorted by size; prices vary. You'll pay more than you do at a Goodwill, but you're paying for someone to do all the sorting for you so you can just breeze in, hit the section with your size, and breeze out. Pants are hung with the waist to the side so you can examine sizing without pulling out the hanger, which saves time; they had two Gloria Vanderbilt black jeans in plus sizes for $3.99 each. And they don't lock the dressing rooms so you don't have to chase someone down to try stuff on! I rarely spend $10 at a Savers, making the common "$3 off $10 purchase" coupons moot; could have used one here. So bring a donation, get your coupon, and then go shop. read more

Savers in Carol Stream and Schaumburg is fantastic. The Carol Stream location I visit alot. I am telling you there are no stains or rips on any of the clothing, etc. There is not any chipped or broken items. Everything at these 2 locations is clean and the stores are very organized. The workers work hard and are extremely nice. Bring in some donations and get a 20% off coupon, and also ALL MONDAYS are half off, what else can you ask for. Tuesday is 30% off for the seniors. I wont shop at any other thrift store. I have never gone there and left empty handed. You can get something for almost anyone and with the country today, its a bargain here, with this awful economy. Yes prices went up a little, I read the reviews, but folks guess what so did your gas, food, and all your bills. Stop whining everyone, be a little frugal, support your local Savers, have some fun. One star is to good for them. Besides the fact that there so over priced for second, third maybe fourth hand items we still shop there because we cannot afford even Walmart these days. Now they won't even help you with you donation, taking out of you vehicle. Nor will they help you put a large purchase in your car. Today I bought a large 9 cube shelf. Very heavy. He had to bring it outside by the donation drop off but refused to help me put it in my car. I said I need help with this, he said no I can't it's the policy, always has been. I in return said "no that's not true," I've always received help dropping off my donations and help putting large objects I've purchased in my car. So here I am a 68 year old woman having to put this in my car while he went inside and closed the door. Now I ask you, what kind of garbage policy is this? That is the last time I ever shop or donate to Savers. I will help Goodwill, which is right around the corner. Their selection tends to be better than Goodwill and at .99 cents each, I feel like if they aren't up to listening standards, i can ust donate back. I actually used to work at the Savers in St. Charles before it closed down and now this is the closest Savers. I was in this particular location a few days ago and was appalled when I saw how expensive everything was. I found a great cardigan from Old Navy and it was priced at $10. It was nice but not that nice. It seems that within the last year prices have skyrocketed at every Savers. I was really surprised when I saw a used candle on the shelves priced at $5. First of all it should have never been placed on the shelves for sale and no one is going to pay $5 for a used candle. I used to love shopping at Savers and maybe I'm a little bias as a former employee but I would rather shop at Goodwill or any other thrift store than Savers. It's absolutely overpriced and has gone downhill in the past couple of years. read more

Savers was pretty cool. On the hunt for a few different things, my son and I stopped in here today. He inspected the books. I stayed between household goods and furniture. We both inspected the jewelry. He found two paperbacks that we left with. I realized after the fact that they have a deal if we would have bought another book or two. I really need to teach my son to be a better shopper. I found a great deal on a side table. We checked out the jewelry looking for a chain, but didn't find anything that would work for us. We did get a Savers card. 25% off on Mondays and other promotions will come along with this free card. I'd like to start by saying I'd give the store 5 stars but unfortunately the one manager tina with the short grey hair excuse me for saying this but is a real witch and very unprofessional I'm a avid thifter I visit many thrift stores through out the Chicagoland area but this particular store has one of the rudest managers I've ever encountered not just rude to me on a couple occasions but to other shoppers as well I gues my rant is more so that every time I seem to go there I don't think on one occasion I've not seen or heard her be nice to the employees her condescending ways and the way I hear her speaking to the young kids when I'm there is terrible this complaint is way over due but I've let it slide for some time now but after this weekend hearing her loud mouth threw out the store bossing the those young kids around so rudely I've had enough you can hear her even if you are in the back of the store she is very very loud and runs the store like a gustopo I feel so bad for those young kids I'm a parent myself and I would never want my kids to work there because of this women I've notice when I visit this location the employees are like muted zombies lifeless like and not happy and it's probably because of her any other time I come in the atmosphere and vibe is more alive and welcoming and I'm not the only one who says it as i collaborate with other thrifters I will say Terri and Shelia are great and always fun to thrift with as managers although I was told Shelia left the company : ( Hoffman estates is another great location Gia the manager is great..! One of the best thrift stores in the area. While the prices may be higher than other local thrift shops, they have already done the hunting for you so the items are of better quality - in my opinion! I have found some truly great treasures here - rare Pyrex, quality (even brand new with tags on!) clothes, Bakelite jewelry, wonderful books for my daughter, and collectible records. I stop here weekly to see what they have in stock. If you donate, you will get a $3 off total of $10 or more AND a punch/sticker card to save a percentage on your whole transaction. This is one of my favorite places to shop. I come here monthly to get my fix. I have to say today I was quite disappointed in management. What happen to customer service. I purchase a pair of boots yesterday and when I got home I realized that they were different. I bring them back today to see if they had the matching pair for both in the back or on the floor. Management comes over and says " that's like a needle in a haystack to find". She made absolutely no attempt to see if they were in the back. They don't have a huge selection of boots. It's a tiny spot. I asked her is there anyway she could call me if they found the matching boots because they will turn up. She said no. I said could I get store credit, she said no. She said I can return the shoes at any Savers. Now to me this is plain lazy. You made no attempt to make the customer happy. You didn't want to do your job. Customer service is at a low when you wouldn't attempt to do anything for the customer. So now two perfectly pair of shoes have to go in the garbage. they must be out of their minds with the prices here. im an avid local thrifter and go to every one in the area. savers prices have more than doubled over the past year. you're lucky if you find something under $10. they price according to brand not condition, so you'll find something that's stained but still $12. people thrift for necessity and it's disgusting that they are pricing donations so high, there is no reason for it. i only shop here on 50% off days or if i have a 20% off, but rarely. please rethink going here read more
