I personally love this Goodwill location. The people in the morning and early afternoon are always kind and quiet. No matter what time of the day, I always see staff working hard to keep the place organized and bring new donations out to the floor. My experience with cost has been mostly fairly priced. Don't get me wrong, I have definitely seen some outrageous pricing as well. Admittedly, my goal has been to find Christmas village houses and this location never disappoints. With deals like 75% off THRIFT STORE PRICES for a week after the holiday, you just can't beat it. For example, the photo I uploaded was all $5. I've found some pretty great non Christmas gems that are very affordable as we decorate our new home. Like a shoe rack that I've been eyeing online, except the picture of the one I added was ONLY $7!! Every time I've visited, the store is nicely organized and it's easy to find some of my new favorite pieces. I almost didn't want to review the location so I can gatekeep my great finds but it's best to reduce, reuse, recycle...and never gatekeep haha read more

The Goodwill in Forest Park is stellar. The staff is always helpful and knowledgeable. The store environment is clean and organized. The selection is fantastic. Do not waste your time going here to donate. The fat white older guy is a rude jerk. I don't need to get yelled at for donating because you don't want to do your job or are having a bad day. For the longest time, I didn't know if Goodwill runs a special promotion on certain days. Hubby and I went to a different location in Lombard and finally noticed the tiny orange size that gave out a piece of important information: orange-tag merchandise is 50% off on Sundays and Mondays! I believe that color-tag makes its rotation on a weekly basis. The promo signs were more prominent here in the Des Plaines location. However, by 3pm in a Sunday afternoon, many customers probably have picked through the good items that happened to be orange-color tagged. It was really alright by me because hubby found a video game for less than $2. I wish they would have more vinyls at all Goodwill locations. After all, it's what thrifting is all about: often times you score cool stuff, but sometimes you will come home with nothing. read more

Goodwill is just making me sick and tired of even wanting to donate to them. They are taking donated goods and upcharging them to the point where I will not even bother to go to a Goodwill store anymore. Example: A pair of USED New Balance shoes for $49.99. Used with worn tread. Because of people who brag on the YT about their fantastic finds, the company wised up and hired people to PULL the valuable items and put them on their website. What happened to even the meaning of goodwill? Yes, it supports programs, but it also supports highly paid executives. What makes matters worse, is the poor soul who is working the register asks if you want to round up your purchase. I am tired of being asked by almost every billion-dollar profit company if I want to give them even more money when I am shopping at a thrift store because I don't have the money to buy new things. I rlly hate writing bad reviews but I'm rlly bummed. I found an amazing little trinket box with a porcelain jester on top for 99¢!! Was so excited and ready to take it home and when I put it on the counter the cashier haphazardly grabbed it and broke it, shattering it into a thousand pieces and then just looked at me and sheepishly said "sorry". Just their carelessness with items is sad and the fact that they didn't even seem to care they broke something I was really excited to buy. Then they bagged up other breakable items I had in a bad with no paper and I'm lucky nothing else broke. Overall really bummed. Generally, I have a decent experience here, however a few days ago, the staff was incredibly rude and dismissive. This location seems to have a high turnover rate because I don't recognize the staff whenever I visit this location (probably once a month). This is what happens when you hire a bunch of high schoolers who don't care about what they're doing. Half the time, you can't even find a staff member and when you do, it's like you've interrupted their slumber. The employees who are adults are all fine. I went to Donate at 7:00pm I didn't realize they were closed this guy came outside to take the donations while another guy name Isaiah came yelling and screaming being extremely inappropriate and rude with his words screaming at the employee and me he can't take it we are close you need to get out of here. I said that's fine he already took them. His still being obnoxious extremely bad behavior and his waking away while his cursing out. I will never donate to this location ever again I called the Manager right away and informed him about his employees behavior hope they fix this issue for others as for me I won't ever give them another change there are a lot of other paces that would appreciate my donation, they should train their employees how to treat people what a shame. read more

Need to investigate the management at this location. Abrasive, rude and condescending to both customers and donors alike. Without them and their donations your organization would not exist. Goodwill has been completely buried in greed and mismanagement of purpose. Probably too late to turn it around. The racks of apparel and shoes are tired and worn, even rotting as if received from a 3rd world country. They have priced anything of use or of value so that middle class or poverty level can no longer afford to shop at Goodwill. It's really time to change their name, it has lost it's definition to corporate greed and illegal price gouging. The community should raise their concerns as to what they're doing there because it sure isn't good will. read more

WAY OVERPRICED. I did not spend a lot of time in this goodwill so this review is based off of one major issue I had. I have been looking for a bookshelf so I have been looking around local goodwill stores. I walked in and found one that I liked. It was nice and new looking, ikea type vibes. How much did they want for it? 60 DOLLARS For $60 I can get shelves on amazon AND have them delivered to my apartment. I've gotten several good things here. A brand new Chaps sweater - with the retail store tag still on it - for $5 or so and a practically new Ralph Lauren Polo summer knit shirt for around $4. I got a pretty nice, totally functional, Cuisinart coffee maker here for only around 3 bucks. But the place seems a bit mismanaged. Some of the things are wildly overpriced for used items. And when you ask about mens' belts, they tell you to look in the womens' belts - same with mens' casual jackets - mixed in with the womens' jackets. I bought a really great, virtually new pair of Land's End penny loafers here for around $8 - but when I got them home, I discovered that some nitwit at this Goodwill had put the price tag on the very shiny leather uppers. The goo on the price tag had messed up the leather - necessitating a major operation to clean and re-polish them. Totally stupid! Hardly the greatest resale shop I've seen, but if you can put up with the odd managerial quirks, you can occasionally stumble onto a good find here. read more

I visited this location on a Friday afternoon; so glad I did. This Goodwill is by far one of the cleanest and most organized stores I've ever shopped. The store didn't seem overly busy during the early afternoon hours, as it was pretty easy for me to get around with a shopping cart. I wasn't searching for anything in particular, but I did walk away spending $85 on mostly brand new home decor items. Brand new items from Target that were last season's styles. Fine by me. The staff here was also friendly and check-out was very fast. Highly recommend visiting if you're in the area. read more

I'm gonna pop some tags! Only got $20 in my pocket! As an experienced thrift shopper, this place has to have the nicest staff. So helpful and friendly with genuine smiles. The store is also very clean. Even during busy hours, the clutter is very minimal. I have bought an unused George Foreman grill and tons of new PC cables on crazy bargains. I been poppin tags in this place like Macklemore. From toilet paper roll holders and backpacks to work-out t-shirts, this Good Will is clean and far more organized than most city locations. Accessories were around $1.99-$3.99 while clothes ranged from $3.99-$6.99. Styles were all over the place, and I wasn't just reaching through granny's donation box. Some clothes are still pretty torn up, but finding the right sizes in the right places earned this shop a quick four stars. Getting some of my picks home only to discover they were NWT was the full five stars. I'll have to make a few of my own donations and clear up some new closet space! read more

I really prefer independent thrift stores, however I was staying at a hotel up the street and had some time to kill. The store was organized well and they had a ton of "stuff". I found a pencil sharpener( electric) and was told I could bring it up to the front to see if it worked. No one had a pencil. Finally, a nice customer gave me a pencil to try it and it didn't work. Seriously, why wouldn't they check it before putting it out on the shelves? To me, thats rude. They had some great, expensive hard cover cookbooks for 2.00. I came here seeking out some decorations for Halloween, I left with a ton of stuff. All the employees I encountered were very friendly, the store was pretty organized too. I can't imagine having to straighten up the store after its been open for the day. But it seemed like there was at least three employees straightening while stocking. I bought 3 new battery operated decorations (that worked after I got them back home) and paid less than a quarter of the full price thanks to target that generously donated their leftovers to Goodwill. read more

The prices here as well as at other area Goodwill prices have increased to the point of ridiculous. Something is very illicit with their current pricing practices-- the management and/or whoever has orchestrated this has become blatantly and shamelessly greedy. Dollar Tree items are 2.99. Coach purse with visible mold and reeking of mildew is marked 74.99. Stained, dirty, moth damaged coats are marked 29.99. A pair of grungy UGG boots with virtually no heel left are marked 39.99. Where is all of this profit going? What is with the donated salvage merchandise from Target--they've priced some of this stuff higher than Target's retail price--even with Target's sale price still on the packaging. Lol Target's Christmas items were marked down 90% after Christmas--Goodwill marked them back up to 100% in January!!! How are they even permitted to charge sales tax on donated merchandise? The Goodwill's tax records, salaries, earnings are all hidden from the public for a reason. They really need to change the name of this organization, it no longer represents the original founder or purpose intended. Shameful to see these stores still in operation. read more

I think I've visited every Goodwill in the Chicago Metro area by now. This one had a lot of stuff just thrown on to shelves. The amount of things without tags astonished me. Now, I know it's a goodwill and you should have too high of expectations, but there's somethings that just go without say, or you'd think went without say. I spent about 40 minutes scavenging the store looking for all the parts to a speaker set. I did manage to find 3 out of the 4 parts. I was not thrilled when I turned up empty handed on the last part. I found another item in the electronics and then found another piece of it in the opposite corner of the store on top of a kegerator. I brought the fact up that the 2 separately priced items technically go together and that I don't usually say anything, but I was unhappy that I spent 40 minutes trying to find all the parts to something else. The manager became INSTANTLY defensive. "People want to buy 1 speaker, NOT a whole set, so we price individually" She had no concept of selling things as a set would actually bring in MORE money. I can't help it if an ignorant customers wants to break-up a set of something. It's your store, don't break-up a set that goes together, you're only hurting yourself. For the attitude and defensiveness of the manager this place warrants the low rating. read more

Cleaner and better organized than the locations in Bartlett and Elmhurst, but I am thinking that is just because they've only been open for a few months. Scouring the clothing racks I came up with more discount store labels than anything I've gotten spoiled on from the Glendale Heights and Carol Stream stores. This store has a great donation center, and they have very helpful staff (I've asked several times for help with items and everyone was always polite, no matter how silly the question!) The only major problem is the kids. Oh jeez the kids. Every time we shop here we end up seeing packs of precious little brats screeching around the store, knocking over racks and causing general mayhem. The last time we were there we noticed that there was a glass vase shattered on the floor (didn't see how it happened) and two kids started literally WALKING on the glass to get to the toy bins. My mom managed to steer them away but this is a major safety concern to have kids running around in a store like this with ROWS of glass collectibles/glasses. All Goodwill stores need to start implementing a 'parents must watch children' policy, but this one is definitely the worst. 4/5 for the usually helpful employees; 1/5 for the management's safety issues. (On a side note, the clothes are too expensive [they are FREE to the store] but that's just a Goodwill issue in general). read more

I am all about the three R's, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! And Goodwill Industries does it as well as anyone and has been doing if for a long time. This store is no exception. It's clean and well organized. It's brand new and hasn't taken on that old clothes funk yet either. There are lots of friendly staff available to help you. What more can you ask for? I went in just to check it out with no intention of buying anything. I walked out with a bag full of 13 items including summer tanks and t-shirts for me and clothes for the kids and a cute little purse, all for only $47.09 total. Can't beat that. read more

I have been a Goodwill shopper for at least 20 years. Lived in Springfield Ill. for 25 years and always enjoyed shopping at Goodwill. They were always clean and organized. The staff at this store I would give 5 stars to. The problem is that there is a "click" of people that always seem to be there buying things for resale. They hand around and this seems to be there social time. When the staff brings a new cart of items they are so rude they almost knock you over. They also hang around the table and chairs discussing their finds and checking what the items will sell for online. Although I live about a mile from this store, I go to other Goodwills and actually find some great items. read more
