My Dear Hubby has his regular rounds of area thrift shops, looking for "treasure" to upcycle. Recently, he decided to try this location. He liked it so much that he took me there when we were in Moorpark. It's quite large, so there's a lot of merchandise to go through. I mostly stayed in the housewares section, which featured a lot of dishes, décor items, glassware, small appliances, wall art, and other choices. They try to color coordinate the aisles, which makes hunting easier than a scattershot approach. You never know what you'll find! One of my "scores" was a coffee mug from Fess Parker (Daniel Boone, for those old enough to remember). It has a quote about enjoying a beer with lunch and glass of wine with dinner, a nod to his winery in the Santa Ynez Valley. I met him once at a special event at Disneyland many years ago. Also happened upon him while visiting his winery, where he was regaling visitors with tales from his career in the entertainment business. Fess's larger-than-life persona is something I can smile about when I make DH a cup of coffee in that mug. Literally paid pennies on the dollar for what the mug retailed for about a dozen years ago when Mr. Parker was still alive, I'm sure. Love a good deal! That being said, there seems to be some inconsistency on the pricing of the items. We scored a console table that needs some TLC for a really fair price. It is on our to-do list to refinish. The staff members were generally helpful when we were there, and they readily made arrangements for DH to pick up the table the next day, as we didn't have room in the car at the time. read more

This Goodwill is a monster in the best possible way. It is spacious and treasures are everywhere. Be prepared to spend hours looking and digging for high quality goods. I found crystal, brass, wool, leather bags and original art. This is a great location. I highly recommend. read more

I visit this particular Goodwill store about every month. The store itself is pretty clean, neat and well-organized. It's average-sized for a thrift store, but the smaller store front belies the interior volume. They actually have quite a bit of stock inside. They rotate stock on a regular basis, so there's always something new and interesting to browse for. I especially like shopping in the bric-a-brac section, which is full of interesting little treasures, that I can't live without. I've also spotted a few pieces of decent art on their upper shelves, and their selection of clocks and frames is impressive. The staff here have always been exceptionally friendly and accommodating to me, and carefully look at each piece to make sure it works, is in good shape and that it's priced right. I really appreciate that, rather than simply rushing me out the door. It's always fun to stop in here close to a holiday, as they bring out seasonal items that are perfect for the occasion. The store can get busy on the weekends and during peak hours, so parking might be an issue, but it's definitely worth the short walk to the door. Highly recommended! read more

This store is totally picked through, very hard to find any cute items. the return policy is also absolutely ridiculous. I came in to return a few items and get store credit but they do not offer store credit at all, you have to exchange the items right then and there or you get nothing. I ended up just giving them the items back because i couldn't find anything cute in the store and had to leave. what a waste of $40, especially when goodwill receives these items for free. the workers are nice but i won't be supporting goodwill anymore, total bullshit. read more

I usually love this location but today I had my two small children with me and bought something very large and hard to carry so I asked if I could bring the cart out to my car which kind you, was ROGHT outside the door. And the woman told me no thst the carts lock at the door who I am aware of but I know other stores that unlock their carts and lock them again. I found the large item within 5 min of being at the store and planned to go back and shop once I secured the large item in my car but they couldn't accommodate me and my children and I wasn't about to load them in and out of the cart again oh, and the large items fell out of my arms since I was carrying my baby on the other arm and chipped so that was just additional frustration, I get it about the carts but having someone at LEAST offer ti help me being it to my car would have been much better customer service. She had just chase a man who's card didn't swipe properly, and therefore "didn't pay" all the way out to his car but yet no offer to help be bring my purchase to my car. And by the way it wasn't the man's fault, he didn't "walk out" it was literally the card reader. read more

You are a good person to donate, but DO NOT expect help on your generous donation. It feels great to donate and acknowledge there are others that can use something that is just sitting around your house. Donating should be accepted with a smile and gratitude. You would think that the employees standing there would be polite and helpful to customers (aka donators). When at the donation area, DO NOT expect help or acknowledgement that you are even there... no matter how old you are. The area that you donate in the back of the building is poorly managed unless their job description is to just stand around talking. Do the people accepting the donations get paid? If so, what is their actual job? They just stand there talking to each other. If there is only one person, they just point to the labeled bin you should put your stuff in. God forbid that a bag is holding the clothes you donate. They cannot even help you throw away a bag. You have to take everything out of the bag and throw your own bag out. They do not even acknowledge you are there at times... and I have been there to donate more than 5 times a year. They do not help with anything. I even saw an older gentleman clearly struggling with lifting something from his truck to the bin and they just sat there chatting and ignoring him. I helped him. And... please do not say they cannot touch things because of COVID. That excuse is no longer applicable. WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY for a non-profit company. You could just have a camera (eliminate paying these lazy people who just want money to stand around) there recording to see if anyone steals or is doing something wrong. A person standing there just to be present is useless. There isn't even a tax slip in the empty bin to take after you have done everything yourself. Does anyone know of another donation place that would be more appreciative and helpful? read more

lately the words second hand or used item is not even a thought of this stores pricing personnel. They are pricing things like they are new items. Even used candle. Saw a beautiful mustard colored vase in the store this week. I had found a similar one at Home Goods but didn't purchase it. so my first thought at the Good Will store was oh great I can get one I like as much for a bargain . Wrong!!! The price for the vase at the Good Will is $39.99. double the price of the one at Home Goods. Yes, went to Home Goods! Have to put a pause on the Good Will until they come back to reality a bit. I rarely go to goodwills due to bad experiences in the past, but I decided to visit this one on my way home yesterday. Great selection of items, very clean & organized. Staff is very friendly and greets you as you enter the store. I was able to find exactly what I was looking for at an affordable price. Our cashier Venus was super friendly, kind & went out of her way to help me find specific items due to the store being so big! She was very nice, explained the exchange policy to us and even had me and my kids laughing. I'm grateful for the experience, for the amazing staff, the great prices. Over the years I have donated lots of items to Goodwill and I thought I was doing something worthwhile. Yet their thrifty prices are rising to the point where shopping in regular retail stores where their prices are just as low and also give me the option of returning those goods for a full refund are a better choice. No store credits. No replacements. A full refund. Goodwill is a multi-billion dollar concern so where are the thrifty prices that the word thrift implies? I'm extremely disturbed by this trend of greed by Goodwill. In today's terrible economy with inflation the highest in 40 years, so many more families need the benefit from stores like these but obviously Goodwill has put themselves in a different category and has decided to place profit above compassion and reality. This organization receives EVERY SINGLE ITEM THEY PLACE ON THE SHELVES AND ON THEIR ONLINE AUCTIONS free. Everything they sell is donated. They don't pay a penny. They don't even have trucks to pick up donations because it will cut into their profits. They have told me that. And we, the people who often donate, have to drive to their store and unload every single piece into their bins. No help. No assistance. They instruct the people in the stores to price every item based on competitive prices found on the internet, Ebay, Poshmark, Etsy, etc. They actually have knock-offs for sale at ridiculous prices. I don't know much about the law in this regard but I believe that practice is illegal. Their online stores are just as bad. Check them out. Many of the items they sell are valued in the thousands, I'm not kidding, in the thousands of dollars mainly jewelry and art work - items that are DONATED to them by families who believe they're doing a lot of good for the needy. What a joke! I would advise anyone out there to consider skipping by Goodwill from now on and search for other thrift stores who exist to support their many admirable causes. They charge less and actually welcome your business. You can't lose. read more

This is a good-sized thrift store conveniently located off the 101 in Moorpark. They have a lot of women's clothes, some men's clothes and kids clothes too. Lots of cool household goods and knick knacks. Good selection of shoes, kid's bicycles and some furniture. Small selection of kid's toys/stuffed animals. Nice variety of holiday stuff. Staff was friendly and attentive while I was there. I will definitely stop in again! read more

It is pretty much a self-service store. When you are looking for help and responsibilities from any managers, you will be disappointed. So buy what you know. Do not depend on their advice or their help after sales. I have come to address my issue to one of managers, Brenda, who did not care or did not believe what I told her. She had food in her mouth while talking to me. And the food kept spitting out of her mouth. Do not be confused the organization with the people working there. While the organization is doing great things, managers like Brenda are just there for the paycheck. She does not deserve to be associated with the organization. read more

I waited in a ten minutes, four person line yesterday to enter the store because of Covid distancing guidelines, which is fine, I appreciate and understand the reasoning... what I don't understand is entering the store to find children everywhere running all over the store touching EVERYTHING, including a child attempting to remove a toy from my cart when I was not looking. The yelling of the children sounded like a playground, the parents were oblivious as their children ran wild and not a single employee said a word! Unbelievable! I arrived at 8:30 to donate one small item. There was a young man there who waived me off, and insisted that I come back in half hour when they were open. I told him I had just one item, but he insisted. I think some flexibility could have been used here. There is no reason I could not have left the small item with him at that time and avoided coming out there a second time. I was not selling the item or buying anything from their store. I hope this is just an isolated incident. Donations like mine from all of us are what helps keep their store going. This is my all time favorite thrift store. You can find some gems if you're lucky. They almost always are having a sale. On Monday they have senior, student, and military get 25% off with ID. I am in college and always have my ID with me. I was ready to check out and when I presented my ID the manager (I assume) accused me of having a fake student ID. The university is 10 minutes down the road and I don't know why I'd fake it just for 25% off. She started getting upset and said I wouldn't get the discount unless I had proof that I attending the school. I showed her my transcript and she said it was not legit either. I hope military members and seniors don't have this difficult of a time getting a discount that is advertised everywhere.... read more

If I could give this Goodwill zero stars, I wish I could! This is the WORST GW I have ever been to, and I try to avoid it whenever possible. Their staff is extremely lazy and very unhelpful. Once I had my kids with me, I had purchased a few larger items and they refused to help me out saying that it was against their policy. As I tried to wrangle my kids and grab all my stuff, I ended up shattering a lamp I had already bought! They just looked at me and shrugged like, "Oh well." They also overcharge/upcharge on items that should not be set at the prices they sell them. In other words, it would be a lot less at places like Dollar Tree, or other discounted stores. With the ZERO effort their staff puts in, it amazes me how they're still in business. I suppose folks are just used to terrible service, and it's just the status quo. I enjoy thrifting, but I'd recommend the GW in Thousand Oaks or Simi over this location any day! read more

Great for women's clothes! I have found so many high quality gems. I also found some bomb cowboy boots (real leather!). I donate here and buy as well. Everyone is really nice and will help you out. Don't forget to use the donor's coupons (25%) on the receipt when you make your purchases. I don't pay too much attention to the weekly sales, but I know I've benefitted from them. This is the most eco-friendly way to stay clothed and even fashionable (apparently we have some very well-dressed people in Moorpark that happen to be my size, and they like to donate often... sweet!). I actually believe shopping here is not only better for my wallet and karma points (those exist, right?), but I believe my fashion game has stepped up a notch because of our awesome Moorpark community and their donating habits. Come on..you can write off your donations (your receipt may or may not come with itemizations...bonus for you and your tax preparer!) and you can get some pretty spiffy outfits. But don't tell anyone. This is our little secret. read more
