Not donating anything at this location again. The items I donated were in a reusable bag (I intended to reuse the bag again). The man that was collecting donations brought the big, blue cart out and as I was taking my items out of the bag placing them into the the cart he literally tried grabbing the bag out of my hands without saying a word. I said "whoa! Do not grab from me!" He said he knew what he was doing and continued to grab my bag and I again pulled it away. He was aggressive!!! I have dealt with this guy before - he's rude and has uncalled for behavior! Disability or whatever life experiences he may have does warrant treating a customer in a rude and aggressive way. I have spoken to the store manager before about employees being rude. Must be poor management. I'll go out of my way from now on and donate to Salvation Army. read more

I shop all of the Goodwill Stores across Illinois and found them all to be quite competitive in pricing. I purchased a skirt and it had a 9.99 price attached, however when I arrived home and tried it on, I put my hand in the pocket and there was another tag showing a price of 6.99. All of the clothing in the store was 9.99 or higher. What happened to Goodwill pricing. Seems they are competing with Walmart only with gently worn "donated" items. Where are the secret Shoppers that monitor and test the integrity of retail establishments? read more

While the employees inside the store are nice, the store does smell pretty bad. Also, something recently really made us angry- we were in the line for drop offs. The line was moving VERY slowly due to the single employee unloading cars. There was no way to get out of line since they had the parking lot roped off. The management at this place should be replaced to make it more customer friendly. read more

Goodwill is a good place to find clothes, furniture, purses, and so much more. Although you do have to shop with care, some of their items may be defective. Crew is always friendly. The store is kept as clean as other retail stores. read more

I was going to give a great review to this Goodwill, extol the virtues of the neatness and cleanliness of the store, and how things seemed to be priced extremely fair for the quality of the merchandise.. Except I bought a shelving unit (you know, those tension rod thingies for the shower) that had every appearance of being brand new and unused. Until I got it home and realized that there were about 3 parts missing. I realize this was partly my fault for not double checking it, but something like this that is completely unusable without all its parts should never have been sold in the first place. I keep trying to tell myself that I should just look at this as a donation to a charity rather than a bad retail experience. Hence the reason I am giving two stars and not just a single star accompanied by me raving for 3 more paragraphs. And check EVERYTHING before you buy it! read more

They are always very helpful with unloading donations. Friendly place. It seems that this location has a lot of community involvement and I feel good donating what stuff I cannot use to this Goodwill. read more

I frequently come to this store but it's now out of control. Little Hispanic kids running around all over the store. Am I in the twilight zone? I sat there and watched employees walk right by while these children are breaking shit all over the store. I told the manager but he doesn't have the balls to tell these parents to watch their kids. They are running around like its chuck e cheese. It's beyond ridiculous. You need a manager to take control back of the store. read more

Went to this South Elgin store this morning and as I was shopping a display a supervisor named Stephanie said very rudely, move so I can put some things on the shelves. Maybe she should have busied herself in another area instead of asking a paying customer to MOVE. I thought stocking the shelves happened before the store opened. Maybe she needs a refresher course on how to treat customers. read more

Great for finding cheaper odds and ends, knick knacks, and gently used clothing. Color tag sales on weekends. Lots of books. A few kids toys and stuffed animals. Clothes are more expensive than Salvation Army but we still love goodwill. My only complaint is that they don't have many if any kids/toddler/baby clothes. read more

I went to this Goodwill store in South Elgin, Illinois this past Friday with my best friend Beverly and her husband Rocky. I was surprised by the vast selection that this Goodwill store had (clothes, books, cds etc.). I picked up a movie that was 99 cents plus a movie and two cds that were also 99 cents each (a movie dvd,Cocktail movie soundtrack and the Cosmopolitan Volume 1 soundtrack, and the book Absolute Beginner's Guide to Half-Marathon Training by Heather Hedrick). The cashier processed my order pretty quickly and the cds played fine. read more

I love this store. The people are very friendly and cooperative. They are awesome about returns, and I wonder if the previous customer considered trying to return the incomplete item. Returns are only good for credit on future purchases, but this store has sooo much good stuff coming through, that shouldn't be a problem! The surrounding area is very affluent, I have purchased many things that I have found to be first class and consider it a blessing that we live close enough to keep an eye on things!. BTW, it IS neat and clean, and has really good pricing too! read more

I really like this particular Goodwill store. The staff is super friendly and helpful. One of the staff even helped me take things (I purchased quite a bit) out to my car. It is very organized, neat and very pleasurable to shop there. read more

There's alot of great finds here but I could only give two stars because of the pricing for the clothing and accessories. I mean it seems like they are trying to price the items by comparing it with the sale/clearance pricing of the local department stores. Yet, they are failing to realize the MAJOR contrast which is THEY ARE SELLING USED CLOTHING, whereas the local department stores clothes ARE NEW. This defeats the purpose in shopping at the thrift store. I mean why pay practically the same price for USED clothing when I can buy them new? Also, they RARELY (if ever) tend to have holiday specials where everything in the store is half off for an entire weekend. Also, the "half off" color of the day IS RARELY WHAT'S ACTUALLY AVAILABLE, OR PUT OUT ON THE RACKS.....go figure. read more
