My mom, my daughter, and her son went with me to this Goodwill. We decided to try the Goodwill date night thing that we had read about on the internet where you go to the Goodwill and pick out each others clothes and then you go out. My daughter picked out my mother's clothes, I picked out her clothes, I picked out her son's clothes, and my daughter picked out mine. It was a bit crazy because the dressing rooms in the Central Indiana Goodwill stores are still closed because of covid. We found a way around that, we found a full-length mirror that was for sale and we set it up on a couch that was for sale and just tried on all of the clothes over our clothes. We had a blast and some of the things we picked out for each other we wouldn't wear but it was crazy trying them all on and we laughed so hard. So we picked out all of our clothes and went in the restroom at Goodwill and put them on and we went to lunch! In our "new" clothes! Actually a couple items were new with tags so that was a bonus. We also picked out shoes. This was an absolutely fun day out and with four generations of family together we could not have had a better time. My mother is 80 so every chance we get we go do something and now we can check this one off the list. It was a pretty nice Goodwill and we found a lot of nice clothes and my daughter even took home a Halston jacket to wear to work. THIS IS BY FAR my favorite goodwill in the area! I have tried others but this one for me always keeps me coming back. The store is always clean and organized on the 1/2 off day. I can spend hours at this store and when I say hours I mean 3-4 hours! Just looking at all the different clothing they offer. I have told friends about this location to get them to come and try it and they too love it. The 1/2 off day is not for the weak minded. lol It is very crowded and people can be somewhat aggressive! But you just can't beat the price! I have furnished so much of my house with things I have found at this location. My favorite things to look for at this store are the dresses and coats! You can't beat $2.50 dresses, which some are brand new with tags, and $5 coats! Goodwill has spoiled me to the point that I can't really go shopping anywhere else because I don't want to spend $20 on a shirt when I can get one for $1.50. The only downfall to this location is the wait time in line. They do announce to take the hangers off the clothes but you can still be in line for easily 20-30 minutes of your visit. I recently visited another location where they do the style of line similar to TJmaxx where its a single line that goes to the next available cashier. It really sped up the wait time in line. I will continue to go back to this store. I will always consider this my home base goodwill store! read more

By now, it's no particular secret that I have a fondness for reviewing the Central Indiana area Goodwill stores. It's also no secret that I've occasionally had major concerns with stores run by an organization specifically designed to help individuals become self-sufficient through employment/employment training, education and health services. By far, Goodwill's most visible presence in the community comes with its thrift stores. I stumbled across the Walnut Creek Drive location of Goodwill while out exploring Indy's Northwestside and crossing the line over into Hamilton County. Goodwill Store locations seem to be a fairly even balance of free-standing locations and strip center locations. This location, just inside Carmel, Indiana near 106th & Michigan Road, is in a small strip center and is immediately identifiable as a slightly bigger than usual location. I'm not sure how long it has been open, but I noticed that despite having a healthy crowd it felt less crowded than do many Goodwill locations on their 50% off Saturday sales. The other thing I quickly noticed is that this location does have easily identifiable accessible parking that is, in fact, ADA compliant - despite being an organization that serves folks with disabilities, this is surprisingly rare at Goodwill stores. So, I was pleased. The glass front door is also an automatic door. Another win. While most Goodwill locations have a fairly similar layout, it was rather obvious this one was slightly different. For the most part, I liked it but I did find the actual aisles to be a bit tight. If I went down them in the wheelchair, no one else was getting through. I also couldn't help but notice that this location had a really good selection for one of their Saturday sales, a time when I can hardly ever find anything because it always feels like they've pulled back on the good stuff - I'm not saying they do, as I don't know, but I'm definitely saying it seems like I find better stuff on non-sale days. That wasn't true here. The employees were typical Goodwill employees, though I didn't sense any of the hostility that I sometimes find in other location. This location seems to have several older employees and they have a calmer presence. I can't say anyone was particularly helpful, but they also didn't do any of my pet peeves like sitting in the way while people were trying to get through. Because the layout was a bit more user friendly, I was able to get what I wanted and get out fairly quickly. The cashing out process is always a bit challenging - at some Goodwills, it seems like there's one central line that forms. At others, it seems like you just find a line and go there. It's not organized, but on this occasion it worked. I also noticed that their job application kiosk is not disability friendly, a bothersome fact given they specifically serve individuals with disabilities. To be honest, this location was on its way to a 4-star rating, practically heard of for Goodwill from me, until I hit the check-out. While the cashier was perfectly friendly, there was a little bit of friction over breaks that rubbed me the wrong way at least partly because rather than immediately squelch it I felt like a supervisor fueled it. It was relatively minor, especially when compared to the older tension/service issues I used to have at the Glendale location, but it was just severe enough and just went on long enough that it dropped the place from a four-star to a three-star rating. Overall, this is still one of the better locations. It's newer, cleaner, and got a better layout while also having the selection I'd hope for from a Goodwill. I appreciated the quality accessible parking and the automatic door. While I don't really live near this neighborhood and it wasn't quite so good that I'd go out of my way for it, it's still worth noting that it was a positive experience and it felt like this location was, with the exception of that closing service issue, living into its mission pretty well. read more

When I say I had fun shopping at this store, boy do I mean it. I haven't spent two hours in a store in such a long time and going in on the first Saturday of July was so worth it. I'm still talking about my shopping experience a week later and I'm sure everyone is tired of hearing me rave about the $5 mint condition bread machine i purchased. The experience was overwhelming at first. We arrived right at 9am after talks of the "good stuff" disappearing early, and there were people waiting at the door. I knew it was 50% off first Saturday, but I didn't know people took it that seriously. I didn't even know which area to start in but I ventured back to the appliance section and picked out a bread machine. Then I went to the book section and found so many awesome cookbooks, informational books, and children's books for super cheap. As I headed to the clothing section, I had negative expectations because usually I can never find anything that fits. I found some dresses, shirts and shorts from brands that I would normally wear. I also found some shirts and shorts for my boyfriend and a few shirts for my son. Four board games also found their way into the cart for a grand total of $53 at checkout. That price made me so happy and I have been wearing Goodwill clothes all week. The only reason I wouldn't give this store five stars is because their lack of employee organization and speed at checkout. I was at the register for 10 minutes helping the guy find barcodes, take off hangers and press buttons on his computer because he didn't understand how to use the POS system. Also when I was in the dressing room, another employee told me that I should take everything that I had in my cart into the dressing room with me because people like to steal the items for themselves. Even though that may be true, the employee should have told me that in a more tactful manner so she wouldn't necessarily bad-mouth the store. read more

I think this is one of the nicest Goodwill stores in the Indianapolis area. It is clean, well organized, and I feel like they have a larger/better selection of merchandise compared to other Goodwill stores. I don't have much more to say, but if you are the type of person that likes to rummage through thrift store racks, then I would certainly recommend this store!
