Goodwill was founded in 1902 by Boston Minister, Reverend Edgar J. Helms. He took donations from wealthy Bostonians and hired people who were poor and who could fix the items. We were having dinner in the plaza and decided to a little thrift shopping after. This Goodwill was large and well organized. It had the mixture of new and used items that they have been carrying in recent years. They had rows upon rows of men's women's and children's clothing along with a rack of holiday ready outfits. This is a very easy location to do a drop off of housewares and clothing that is still in good shape but no longer needed. I drove to the back door of the store and rang the door bell to let an associate inside know that I was out back. With in a minute or two, a nice lady opened the door and pushed an empty grocery cart towards my trunk. We loaded the cart and and then thanked me for the donation. I didn't ask for a receipt and she didn't offer one before I got back in mu car and drove away. I was very happy to get rid of my trash so it could become someone else's treasures. read more

One star because the ladies that work are nice.. but who ever prices the clothes should be placed in another position. Majority of the things I pickup are over priced for being clearly used or stained. Regular cotton shirts WITH designed can be purchased for 5$ NEW.. but I'm getting mine worn and not washed for the same price.. CRIMINAL. While this place seems to be diverse and doing a good job, my experience has been bad. The person collecting the items does not know basic english, nor to issue a receipt with date for donations received. I did donate on 12-28-2023 and had great inconvenience communicating. The person knowing basic English must be hired or he or she must be properly trained and deployed. In the end, the community needs to be serviced properly in alignment with the company's vision and mission. I would have given a zero star review if there was one. read more

I'm a self proclaimed thrift store queen. I love finding treasures and searching for items/clothes for wicked cheap. I've bought work clothes, Halloween costumes, and household items here; also books and shoes. This particular Goodwill is definitely my favorite one. There's so many treasures! Reuse, reduce, and recycle! They have daily sales by tag colors. The place is pretty organized and they had a really large female clothes sections as well as the shoe section. There's some retro-vintage items to be found; this was perfect because my Halloween costume this year is going to be 80's style. Every item that I bought was under $10. I found a really nice blazer for work for $8. They also have a designer section, pretty awesome for a frugal shopper like me. read more

Let me first say, if I had a choice to purchase new clothing as opposed to second hand, I would not be posting this review. The first time I went to Goodwill was about 3 months ago. I never before shopped for secondhand clothes, except for Hippy vintage stuff in the early 1970's, down the Village back home in NY. Back to Goodwill. I was in need of jeans, and the selection was not too bad. Also found a nice top, so all was good. That said, I popped in last week, and OMG, as Bette Davis once said in a movie, which the name of it escapes me at the moment, " what a dump!" Everything, and I mean everything, tops, slacks, jeans, dresses, all the sizes were mixed in together! I don't know why they separate them with those S, M, L and XL plastic thingies, because you have to go through it all to make sure the size you need is not mixed in with the other sizes. Then there is the matter of very unfriendly employees. That's if you can even find someone on the floor. If you you ask them for help, they tell you to ask the cashier. Really? A male employee standing right near the dressing room, and he wants me to go get the cashier to open one of the rooms for me? Psst, how lazy can one person be? Now, I am aware that they do not clean anything that is donated, and if I'm honest, I get grossed out having to touch anything, but this was the worst ever. I saw blouses with food stuck on them, and one had blood on the sleeve! YUK! When I used to donate clothing, I would wash and fold it before giving it away. Anything stained, discolored or faded, went directly in the trash. I always tried to be mindful of the poor person who who had no other option but to look for used clothes, and in my own small way, having them smell nice and clean, and folded neatly was IMHO, the right thing to do. Let's be honest, if you have a pile of dirty, food stained clothes, just thrown them out! Being poor does not make someone less than a person. The blame of course, falls completely on Goodwill, Salvation Army, and all of the other places like them. There should be a protocol that is followed regarding clothing, bedding, and any item made of fabric. Use a high powered steamer and disinfect everything before putting them up for sale. You don't have to bloody iron the clothes, but you may very well prevent a lice infestation by steaming it all. Regarding this particular experience, I want to specify that this was the Goodwill in Sunrise on Pine Island. I've not been to any other Goodwill stores, as I lost everything four years ago, but the only good thing I lost was 80 pounds, so needless to say, I desperately need clothes. I will say, for uncleaned, wrinkled clothing, they can do better on prices. For $5.00 more, you can get a pair of cheap jeans at Walmart! Hope this review helps, and for those of you who are muddling through a rough patch as I am, try not to lose hope. Hold on to your sense of humor, and don't dwell on back then, just keep looking forward, and keep moving. read more

I like these stores and travel here to shop but why?? can these SF Goodwills put price tags in their clothing???? You either ruin nice things OR your workers really have no idea how much they should charge. We just spend 10 minutes and every store employee trying to figure out a price - every employee has a different price ... so Goodwill just lost a sale. I do think the employees are helpful but they deserve better to work with. read more

The women who work behind the counter at this location are very rude. I was checking out using store credit, which meant that the cashier had to call another employee to verify, and the women checked me out and proceeded to call me a 'monster' in Spanish (not realizing I was Hispanic). The only thing I said to this woman was 'hello'. This isn't new either - they don't ever say hello or anything for that matter. They also write directly onto the clothes which is frustrating. 1/5 stars read more

Decent good will store, with helpful employees. Everything is well organized and the store is mainly clothes. Small shoe and housewares section as well as books. They have a shelf that's dedicated to xmas items, so that was entertaining. If your looking for some new hand me downs, id head here for sure! This is a medium sized, scrupulously clean outlet. About 98% clothes and a few shoes, knickknacks and old electronic items. Organised in the typical Goodwill-by-colour fashion. There is no pricing posted anywhere and most of the garments are not marked with anything other than a coloured plastic tag, so unless you know the code, the cost of each item is a mystery. I've marked them down two stars for that because it's ridiculous. Apparently white/clear tags are half price. But if you don't know what the price is to begin with..... Haha. As a rule I think Goodwills are overpriced. Around $5-6 for each item and $1 extra if it's plus size (another star removed for that). Staff were friendly but harried. read more

I stop in from time to time(maybe every 3 or 4 months) and while normally I really have no complaints can't say my recent visit on Sat 7/23 was without issue.The store is definitely clean and organized(more or less) but the service was less than desirable. With 2 ladies at the checkout, being a Saturday, to wait on line a few minutes is to be expected. But when I get called "next" and then she proceeds to have a debate with another customer off to the side about a handbag while at the same time the other check out person walked away to do whatever it was she had to do that was more important than assisting me...I left my item on the counter and walked out. This is my first trip to a Goodwill store. Cloths are well organized, small amount of shoes, bags and baby/kids cloths, they have fixed prices for everything, find some decent brands though but you need to look for every rack that you can.
