GOODYEAR SAVED A KITTY I had an unusual experience at Goodyear today, and I couldn't be more grateful for their help. Yesterday, I rescued a tiny kitten from the side of the road, but after putting her in my car, she seemingly vanished. My family, coworkers, and I searched everywhere and couldn't find her. I assumed she had escaped. To my surprise, the next morning she suddenly appeared on my center console before disappearing again into the car's interior. I brought my vehicle to Goodyear, and their team took the time to help me search for her. After some careful investigating, they found the tiny kitten hidden underneath the glove box near a vent. The staff was patient, compassionate, and genuinely invested in helping me rescue this little stowaway. Thanks to their efforts, the kitten is safe and on her way to getting checked out by a veterinarian. I truly appreciate the kindness and extra effort they showed during such an unexpected situation. Decided to not trust the reviews and gave this place a shot and that was a huge mistake. Extremely horrible customer service. Some of the most rude employees I've ever come in contact with in my life. If you have any self-respect you'll avoid this place. Sadly, the manager was the rudest person of all. I live 30 minutes away and they made me come back later cus they were "busy" with 2 customers. That's all fine...but then they decide they'd rather not help me because I arrived 2 minutes late. Sorry I live far and there was traffic. The sad thing is, what I needed help with would take two minutes. But you could tell they were just a bunch of lazy miserable people. Don't take your car here for repairs. They don't do thorough, quality work, and they definitely don't stand behind their work. Neither does their corporate office. Their poor workmanship will cost me about $1400 in additional repairs which wouldn't be necessary had they done their job right. My post was originally in mid-March 2012. It is now September. I tried every which way -- a BBB complaint and even disputing the credit card charge -- and never received as much as a PHONE CALL from a district manager, much less an apology, partial refund, or anything at all. Please, do yourself a favor: take your business elsewhere. Be sure to view the 'hidden' filtered reviews as well. 2014 update: My complaint was NEVER resolved or even addressed really. The car continued to have problems after a $1700 head job - it continued overheating. No one could ever find anything wrong. It just blew the radiator again and I am having to sell or donate the car as scrap/junk. $600 at Goodyear + $1700 to fix Goodyear's mistake + $3500 loss of the total vehicle = one VERY expensive trip to Goodyear for a car that originally just overheated a few miles away from their shop. read more

Slowww... Ridiculously, inexcusably, unrepentantly, slow. Quoted me the wrong amount for an oil change, which wouldn't be a big deal if they were even remotely busy, but they aren't. Just didn't care enough to look up my vehicle and get it right. Should have been the first sign that sent me running from this place. I came in for an oil change after being told on the phone "We can get you in immediately." Yes, they got my car in immediately, but then took over an hour to get the oil change done. From their overall attitude it seems that this is an average time frame for an 8 It would have been faster ,and cost less, to just fight the traffic and get to a more efficient shop. I would definitely avoid this place for any sort of work. read more

I stopped by this location because my vehicle was not operating properly. I explained to the rep that I briefly lost power on the highway but regained it after pulling over and turning off my car. I further explained that the check engine light had not came on and that I was returning to Dallas from a family vacation, and that I wanted to be safe and have my car checked asap. Long story short, after checking my vehicle, the rep stated it was a Catalytic Converter issue. He said it was melted and that it had to be changed ASAP, it could catch fire, and that my car would not make it to Dallas. Total estimate.... $1,825.29. The rep also stated that my sensors were melted and needed to be replaced. When asked how come the check engine light didn't come on, he stated that it was the manufacture trying to get passed emission compliance by not installing the sensors appropriately. I took my chances, drove it back to Dallas and made it without any additional issues. The following day, I took my vehicle to a muffler shop that I found on Yelp and closer to my home. The rep reported that there were no issue with my vehicle, the tempetures were fine and most of all, no problem with my Catalytic Converter or sensors. He did however say that I should have my transmission checked. Although the customer service was great at Goodyear and I'm a huge fan of their tires, I felt as if this location was being dishonest. I requested a printout of the diagnostics report and the rep said he couldn't print it out. My advise, get multiple opinions prior to allowing work on your vehicle. read more

Want decent tire service in San Marcos? Goodyear's the place. Had a flat with a broken valve stem. The manager was helpful, courteous, and knowledgable without trying to pull the wool over our eyes. We couldn't leave the car, so she suggested we leave the tire, run our errands, and she called while we finished. The cost to repair the flat was reasonable, but, while I was there, I priced the cost of a tire rotation and balancing and think it could be beat, although probably by a place that looks less reputable. I'd give 4 stars but, when I took the tire out to the car, noticed that the mechanic had swapped my chrome cap for a rubber one. A small issue, but I didn't appreciate him acting like I was hassling him when I asked to have back what was mine. Goodyear is a very professional looking place and the manager seems trustworthy. Despite the mechanic's lack of social skills, I would recommend the shop for your tire needs, if you got the cash. read more

Great experience and professional assistance here made me a fan. Both Dani and Michael Miller were willing to go above and beyond to find out why my car still had a "lumpy ride" even after another place had put on new struts and motor mounts (big bucks that did not solve the problem :-( But these guys figured it out! A bent axle ( and now a dragging rear brake). What was even more impassive is that they kept on it even when someone there had test driven it and not noticed the "lumpy feel and vibrations. Even though it was getting near 6 (closing time) on a FRIDAY, this manager gave me his time and focus and after two hours of his detective work, told me there was no charge. I was floored. Not only did they get down into serious investigation on a Friday, but they never rushed me out, made me feel foolish when they could have said it was fine. SO at last I know: a bent axle. That explains everything. Good crew here. I will be back to give them my business as they have really earned it. read more

I've taken my vehicles to them for years. The manager, Carol, has always taken good care of me even when I came on one time with my dogs still in my suburban. I was in the process of moving from my house in San Marcos to a house in Austin. During a trip back to the house in San Marcos with my dogs in the Suburban my belt tensioner seized up and broke the belt. (water pump stopped turning, lost alternator charging, etc etc) I managed to limp it the last few miles to the Goodyear and they pulled it into the garage with my dogs still inside and ordered parts. After a few hours they had it all fixed and back up and running. Even letting me come into the garage (escorted of course) so I could take the dogs out one by one to do their business. Only ever had one issue and it was with my 280ZX that I took in for some work. Noticed on leaving that they didn't put my dash back completely correctly. I took it back immediately, showed the manager (Carol) the issue and she got it pulled back in immediately and taken care of. read more

Contrary to what their sign says, they do not take you without an appointment. Went this morning at 7:45 just after they had opened. Had all 4 bay's open with one vehicle in. Just needed my tires balanced/rotated before I left for work and they woman at the counter informed me they were working on their 8am appt and they take appts only. Promptly called Discount Tire, who even answered the phone before open hours and my car, along with 4 others customers, is already getting work done. read more

I'm never taking my car to Goodyear again. Granted, they have fast, helpful service and good mechanics but they're a complete rip off. Especially this one, probably because they're located in a college town and lots of their clients are going to be people they can take advantage of like me. My car overheated late at night recently so I had it towed to Goodyear. They did an estimate, for which they charged me $48 and told me my water pump had broken, snapped the belt that goes around it and that the thermostat had been irreparably damaged. They estimated the total cost with labor to be $714. This was way more than I could afford, so I took it to a place in town called All Makes Automotive that I had had good experience with in the past. They told me my thermostat and water pump were fine, it was just the belt that had broken. Rather than $714, it was only going to cost me $190 to fix. That's a really big difference for a broke college kid. I won't be going to Goodyear anymore. read more

We decided to give them a try now that my husband retired. They were wonderful and helped us work out a tough situation with the used car we bought. I get that you guys must be busy over there, but when someone calls and asks for a quote on something specific, you do not 'ballpark' it. ''Uhhh you're looking at $3500-$6000 for a repair like that without looking at the vehicle". Me- ' Ok? Does that come with a warranty for parts and labor?' Them-"Ummm, just depends on where we get the motor and depends on if its used or remanufactured". My step daughter is at school at TX State. She took her car here because it was overheating. They supposedly did a complete inspection of the cooling system. Charged us for the inspection. Told her she had a cracked radiator. $600 later she has her car back & parks it at the dorm. She walks to class - doesn't drive much. She attempts to drive back home to Houston later in the week & the car overheats again on the I-10. It's late, she's by herself & in the middle of nowhere; so she drives it to the nearest gas station. Her mom has to go pick her up in the middle of the night. We tow the car back to another Good Year shop in Katy. They immediately tell us that she has a bad hose. It is the an original hose & it was pretty old & brittle. Told us that if the other Good Year shop did a thorough inspection they should have caught it. Now because she drove it hot, we are looking at major engine damage. We went back to this San Marcos Good Year shop & they offered no help. We called Good Year corporate & they offered no help. I've had two mechanics verify that they completely missed this bad hose & one of them was another Good Year shop. We are still fighting to get restitution, but are looking at an additional $1,500 in repairs on top of what this shop charged us. Oh and by the way, we were told several times by the shop manager when we took it in to please get the keys to them ASAP as the technician would be off the next day. It is obvious he rushed through this job & didn't fix it right. Now we have to pay for his mistake. Avoid this shop at all cost. read more

Started coming here because of the coupon in the mail, but I got hooked on their fast, honest service. I've never had any delays in service (with appointment) and the job is always done well. They tell you exactly what's wrong after an initial inspection and you can decide what is most important to fix/maintain. Friendly customer service, free coffee, and always a good coupon. I came this establishment on Hopkins in San Marcos in need of service after my car was rendered "disabled". I am currently a student and didn't have someone to help me with my vehicle so I called Goodyear. They were closest to my residence and I instinctively thought to call them. I paid $35 to have my car towed to them from my apartment. Over the course of three days they checked what the main issue was and why my car wouldn't start and ultimately advised me to go somewhere else. Long story short, I wasted money (and time) having my car towed to them all to be disappointed. To top it all off I had my car towed from them back to my apartment complex and the mechanics removed the metal part on my gear and failed to put car parts back in place. They also left my driver seat window down permanently. I can't roll it back up because my car is disabled. Now my car is parked in place and disabled with a wide open window. It has been raining and I have to keep from allowing rain to enter the vehicle. Terrible service and sheer waste of time and money. read more

Took my 03 jeep wrangler in to have my u joints replaced and was told my shocks needed replacing as well. I gave the ok to go ahead and do it. Now two weeks later from basic city/highway driving my new shocks are already blown. I had a third party mechanic I knew I could trust at lonestar jeep take a look at it and he confirmed they had been blown already due to the fact that they were cheap shocks not even made to accommodate a lift kit. Don't know how they missed the fact that my jeep was lifted, and they definitely didn't ask me if it was before starting the job the first time. It is back in the shop now hopefully they can get it right this time but after this I will not be returning in the future. read more

I don't think this has anything to do with this particular location, but this was the location I was to receive this service out of. My manager had the mobile service come to our work to have her tires installed. I live in the same zipcode as our work. I scheduled for the mobile service to come to my house because I didn't have time to sit in a shop for an hour waiting on my flat tire to be replaced. 20 mins after they were scheduled to be at my house I decided to call the corporate number I had in my email since there was no word from them. Then I was told a lie, I was told well we don't have the mobile service for your zip code. At this point I was done. So now I have to wait 3-5 business days for a refund. So if they in fact didn't have the mobile service in my area then why was I able to schedule for the mobile service to come to my house to install a tire because that is also what I paid more for. I will never consider using Goodyear ever again nor will I ever purchase their brand of tires. read more

This was my second time using good year and the experience couldn't have been better. I bought tires 2 years ago and Dani was super sweet and helpful. Today I was leaving to go out of town and I noticed my tire pressure light came on and thought it may be a leak due to a small nail. Goodyear didn't have time to patch it but Mike was super awesome and decided to take a look at it and also check my tire pressure. He adjusted accordingly and got me on my way!! I have bought 2 sets of tires here, had maintenance services and yesterday a brake overhaul. Always prompt and courteous service, a nice waiting area, and good deals with coupons. In fact the manager gave me a $50 coupon instead of the $25 I had for brake work. The Goodyear credit card also offers no interest plans on tires and repairs and the warrantee is honored nationally. read more

Ok , well this place which I'm sure has lasted beyond longer than it should have by profiting off the backs of poor mis informed parents of squeaky " lil sisters" with rattles in their Civics , or drips in their Tercels , has just informed me that they did not change my oil , in February or ever because my license plate didn't come up on their 1987 IBM corn puter , well they did , I was calling to check the mileage considering they did not add a sticker , with a date or next change or type of oil , and they did cancel out my maintenance required " idiot light " on my instrument cluster. The dude that answered the phone just said , " I track them my the license plate , no number line that here " so it must be a mistake , no additional options , no , do you have a receipt , just a silence. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! I had a $17.99 Oil Change Coupon from HEB, so I figured why not....I also had noticed my Honda maintenance light(the ONLY LIGHT on in my Dashboard) had come on which is normal for Honda cars when the mileage maint, is due, so I wasn't too concerned....before turning into Goodyear's parking lot, I checked my mileage and arrived there only to be told they don't have the type of oil in stock for the coupon price, so I had to get the typical $35+ (same as Wal-Mart or anywhere else) oil change....my intuition told me to just drive off b/c they were pulling 'shenanigans' but I figured why not...boy was I in for a ride...after the oil change had been done,upon getting into my car and pulling off, EVERY SINGLE WARNING LIGHT in my dashboard came on..so I IMMEDIATELY turned around and went back...after standing there explaining the problem to the service employee that worked on my car(wouldn't dare give this guy the respect of calling him a mechanic) he tells me that all my lights were on when I drove in and basically calls me a liar to my face....I then ask for the manager, who tells another guy to re-check my car...the 'Slick' Manager's fabricated explanation is that all my lights were on b/c I needed another O2 sensor???!!! **REALLY**=LIES, LIES, LIES!!! (I had been to Autozone the day before, and had them plug in their sensor check machine and nothing was detected...
