Goody's Donuts is the donut shop by which I rate all others. I don't eat donuts as often as I'd like, cuz I'm trying to be healthy. But when I do have a donut craving, Goody's always comes thru! They've been here forevahhhhhh. I grew up in Cerritos and I'm pretty sure they still have the original decor from the 70's. :P I don't care about the aesthetic. They're donuts are always fresh and delicious!! I can't choose a favorite. I have t have their tiger tail, apple fritter, and glazed buttermilk. Just the right crunch on the outside, then moist fluffiness inside. I love to come in the morning when they're still hot and fresh! Omg... it's the best! We get mostly fancy donuts so a dozen is almost $16. The selection of donuts in the picture I posted was $12 and change. Oh ya. I got 12 donut holes in that order as well. Their posted hours are from 5:30am to 12:30pm. But, if you come before 5:30 and you see their door open, you can always ask to see what's ready and avail to buy at that time. These guys work hard. This place was ok. Nothing about this place stands out from so many of the other Mom & Pop donut shops. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. Just average. They did have a few different / unique donuts which were the overly bright strawberry glazed cake donut, the Tiger Tail, and the Thai Tea donut. The strawberry cake donut was nothing special. It was a bit disappointing in that I expected to burst with strawberry flavor considering the coloring but it wasn't. The Tiger Tail was good but it wasn't great where I would go back just to get it again. I was excited for the Thai Tea donut but it was the most disappointing. By the looks of it, it is generously filled with orange cream/custard. I dug into it and was very surprised how muted the flavor was. You could tell it was Thai tea, but barely. You know when you order a Thai tea and you finish it and all that's left is some orange coloring and a whole lot of ice? And then the ice melts and you drink it and you taste the faint remnants of the Thai tea but it's mostly water? Well that's how the Thai tea donut tasted. Like VERY watery Thai tea. I applaud their effort but it just fell flat. I would come here again but I just wouldn't go out of my way to come here. The service was good. She was polite and efficient. read more

It's been a while since I had to go find a new donut store early on a Saturday morning... But as the world slowly returns to normal, my eldest son starting back to swim meets, and there's nothing quite like sugary fried dough to accelerate him to top performance in the pool. With this month's contest in Cerritos, I pulled out my trusty yelp app, and found Goody's donuts just a mile or two away. The store is located on the end of a small strip mall, adjacent to some residential neighborhood. When I enter the store, mask tight around my face per the signage, The folks behind the counter greeted me through their plastic barrier, and the lady asked me what I would like. A cursory examination of the glass case revealed a good selection of donuts, and I picked out my usual chocolate old-fashioned, apple fritter, and a bunch of donut holes. The area behind the counter was bigger than most, but a big portion of that was dedicated to the fraying operation; one fellow was rolling and frying their wares while I stood there. I ordered up a large coffee... At three dollars, it wasn't exactly a bargain, and the regular old donut shop accoutrements - - A Tupperware of half-and-half, and some sugar shakers - - wasn't exactly gourmet. But it was hot and relatively fresh, and did the job. Not wanting to stop, I also got a hot chocolate here, and the kid who enjoyed it did not complain. So I guess that's something. No where to sit inside the store, a function of Covid, and the majority of their square footage dedicated to the sales and cook inside of the counter. As previously mentioned. Also notable, the store is closed on Sundays! Never seen a donut store with that designation, but I suppose everybody has their business model, and it has to work for them. I'm sure we'll meet again, Goody's staff. Until then, keep on frying. read more

Cerrito's, CA There is something about a good old fashioned, old school donut shop, that just makes a good solid donut with out all of the frills. Honestly, donuts are not on my regular list of weekly or even monthly purchases but I might* purchase a single donut for myself every few months as a splurge...who doesn't love a good donut every once in a while? Goody's donuts was on my radar ever since I read Elite Yelper Derek W.'s review of Randy's donuts in Pasadena, CA in which he references Goody's Donuts and their apple fritter as being one of the best he's tried. I visited a few weeks ago and I am embarrassed to say I have visited 3 times since, or maybe that's a testament to how good the donuts really are, I don't know...but this madness has to stop. I do know where I will be the next time I want to treat someone to a good old fashioned non foo foo donut. So I tried what looked good to me when I walked in the door, I thought I wanted a raised sugar twist before I walked in, but it was a standard raised round donut dusted with sugar crystals that caught my eye, one bite and I did not think any other donut could beat this out. The dough is almost teetering on being similar to a brioche in taste, fluffy, airy, but substantial...I enjoyed every bite while sitting in my parked car, as the world just seemed to stop for a few seconds. This donut reminded me of a Portuguese Malasada. I also brought home the sugar twist which I think may be a different dough, rolled by hand and crispier and more dense, not your usual raised sugar twist, and a glazed cinnamon roll. I was even short on change but the nice owner Tony gave them for me to try anyway, but I did not forget and brought him some extra change to make up for it on my next visit. I shared the cinnamon roll with my husband the next day and also tasted both, and while they were good they did not beat out that raised round sugar donut. So on the next visit, with my extra change in hand, I was a greedy gretchen and ordered two round sugar raised donuts all for myself, and enjoyed them both in the car before I drove off. When my husband found out I did not pick up his favorite donut, a maple bar, for him (donuts are really not his thing either so this request caught me by surprise), I had to make it to Goody's Donuts a third time just a few days later so I could redeem myself from my utterly selfish behavior. When I called ahead late morning (they close at 12:30 pm) to make sure they still had raised round sugar and maple bars, I walked in and I ordered and Tony even guessed my order 2 sugar raised round donuts, 2 maple bars. I added in a last maple old fashioned for good measure $5.50 out the door with the .50 cent credit card/ATM sur charge which generally might bother me but not for this shop since the offerings are so reasonably priced. My husband and I each had a round and a maple donut, and I cut off an edge of the old fashioned maple for a taste...but the round raised sugar donut is still my clear favorite. After all of these donut spurges I have to take a break....and I didn't even make it to trying Derek W.'s suggested apple fritter which does look enticing! I will save the apple fritter tasting for another day. Aside from trying what I might consider near donut perfection in that sugar round raised donut, Tony is the nicest man and just makes the donut buying experience that much more fun! read more

I got 2 dozen donuts and they gave us a fresh hot glazed donut on the house! $17 for a dozen assorted donuts, $2.50 for a dozen donut holes and $2.50 for the tiger tail. I was always told to get here early because they run out of donuts however we got here early and they hardly had any donuts they were just making them and only 2 workers there. I always thought donut shops make donuts all through the night so by the time they open they are stocked. Well it used to be like that. Now they are making donuts as they go and if they only have a few types done that's all you get or you sit and wait all morning long and get the ones you want as they make them. Sounds crazy it is.... poor customer service. Thank god for Angel Food donuts in Long Beach and Randy's donuts at least they have their donuts ready for the morning when they open fully stocked not make as you go. What happened to Goodys they were always stocked and now with online ordering good luck on getting anything and having to spend 50.00 on 12 donuts since they charge all the fees for Goodys and grub hub. Guess I should have ordered online but I still don't know how they say they have certain donuts online you can order but when you go in person nothing. They are doing to go orders but nothing for the ones that like to get up off there butt early in the morning and pick out freshly made and well stocked donuts. Sad society we live in . read more

Been going to Goody's for donuts for two generations, and hands down these remain the best donuts I've ever had in America and probably also even compared to other countries. Nothing beats this small business! You can support your local stores while also just getting the very best original glaze donut you've ever had (among other very excellent choices). My personal faves are the glazed, the sugar twist, maple bar, tiger tail, and old fashioned. As a kid I used to get a little baggie of piping hot glazed donut holes as a real special treat and they're still as good as they were many decades ago. The key is in the dough! The dough is light and fluffy with just the right amount of delicious chew, you seriously can't get this dough texture anywhere else. Their tiger tails are yummy and probably what the instagrammers might go for, but as a good ol donut shop, all the classics are just the right taste of a simpler time with better quality ingredients. They've also got quite a few options with a lovely cake donut texture (I believe the one our fam goes for is the cinnamon crumble, no idea what it's actually called, just been pointing at it for decades and saying "and one of those please"). I have a fond memory of a group of my high school buddies deciding to simply stay up all night after a hangout to get Goody's when they opened the next morning - and that's a sign of a real local treasure. As a bonus, the family that owns the shop has always been warm and friendly whenever I've gone. Parking is usually super easy and readily available - there's a whole empty lot next to it since the plaza never replaced the market that was once there. Words cannot truly describe how and why Goody's Donuts are so good--they just are! I was craving a chocolate donut with custard cream filling (Boston Creme donut) and a nice fluffy glazed round donut. To my pleasant surprise, Goody's Donuts has both! Their Boston creme donut was amazing and satiating in all aspects! The donut was chewy and fluffy with generous amounts of custard cream oozing out after my first bite--just how it's supposed to be. The glazed round donut had the perfect chewiness as well. The sprinkled donut was very scrumptious as well! Other donut shops' sprinkled donut are denser/"breadier"- sometimes too dense, but the sprinkled donuts here are not too dense so that you can taste the sprinkles and the pastry harmoniously in one bite. My all-time favorite donut is the old-fashioned donut, which was also solid. Basically, the texture and flavor of all the donuts here are great! I have such wonderful memories of coming here since the '80s. I am a creature of habit and their chocolate bigfoot and glazed bar have been my staple since Junior High School. No trip to Cerritos is complete without a visit. The staff is nice and engaging. I think the donuts are tender and seem to melt in my mouth, or disappear because I'm eating them so quickly. My mom gets the lemon filled donut and my Dad is a fan of their tiger tail or apple fritter. My only complaint is they sell out so quickly at times of my favorites. On my last visit, they had exactly two chocolate bigfoots left. I bought them, drove home and my Dad and nephew ate them up. WHAT! I came from Arizona for those babies. read more

I used to drive 20miles to go to Donut Man in Glendora when I was in college. Now that I'm in my 30s and responsible for a family, I just don't have time for that unfortunately. However, all is not lost because Goody's is a mere 5miles from my house and the owner who is there all the time is the nicest guy imaginable, who makes me feel that much better about supporting local business. He actually makes attempts to get to know his customers and has a sweet and kind face. He has plenty of regulars who all know and adore him. Now all that's very nice and all, but how do the donuts taste, you might wonder. Well they're pretty good! This is not the place for character-based specialty donuts or even holiday imagery. (They might put out red and green sprinkles during December? Idk and it doesn't matter.) What they do have however is a powdered sugar donut with custard filling which is my absolute favorite. It's crispy at the edges, spongey soft on the inside, and is lightly sweet and delicate. I don't see this variety at other donut shops, and feel safe to say that even if they make them it won't be as good. The only downside if it is one is they operate under regular human hours, meaning this is not a 24/7 and they're only open in the early hours of the day. This is a neighborhood gem where you ought to get your donuts for the office or church group or for the occasional weekday treat and remind yourself the pleasantness of interacting with your community. read more

These donuts are delicious! They aren't the best donuts I've EVER had, but they're pretty cheap and quite delicious. If you go early in the morning (I went at around 6:45, right before work), they're very fresh and still warm. I tried the chocolate tail and the chocolate donut, and they were so yummy. For two chocolate tails and one long chocolate donut, it was around $4.70. I can't wait to try their coffee and more of their donut selections. I didn't get the amazing customer service that everyone else raves about, but the workers were still pretty friendly. read more

I have been coming to this local donut shop for years. I typically will pick up a box for my coworkers early in the morning, so the donuts are always warm, super fresh, and extremely soft and yummy. The man who owns this little shop is always so sweet and kind. I love to support local mom and pop shops like his. I'm such a sucker for their donut holes. So simple, yet so delicious! My favorite large donut is the tiger tail that has a little bit of chocolate in it. But really, all of their donuts are amazing. A nice touch is that he accepts credit card! They know how to treat their loyal customers. I have been coming here monthly for almost 2 years now. It took me this long to write them a review (due to my laziness and also taking their kindness for granted). My experience today, 2/24/2019, reminded me why I keep coming here over Krispy Kreme, Dunkin Donuts, and anywhere that sells donuts. I came on a Sunday morning, around 9am, and almost half of the donuts was gone. It was a good sign for the business, but a bad sign for me because I noticed my favorite donut holes were missing :( When they noticed my disappointment, they assured me that if I just wait 10 minutes, I can get them. 15 minutes go by as I am wait for my 12 donut holes. In the meantime, I ordered 2 tiger tails, 1 raspberry-fill powder donut, and a small coffee for only $6.50. When it finally came out, the owner gave me an extra tiger tail for waiting and also refilled my half-empty coffee for free~ I bet you won't see this kind of service in those franchises. Not only are their donuts fresh, but also is made openly so all the customers can see the process. This is how confident they are in their ingredients and quality. Goody's has been making high quality donuts for over 20 years. My family knew the owners and subsequently the owners sons who took over the business. I don't think I know a donut shop that serves as high quality donuts as Goody's at their price point. For instance I went over to old ferry's donuts and shell out $4 per donut but then come over to Goody's and wonder why I over spent on donuts. The only knock is they don't have the new hot flavors(taro, Mexican hot chocolate, crème brûlée, etc) or French crullers, so you will be getting classic flavors. This place has been around for so long. The place is definitely a hidden gem in the neighborhood. You can expect really friendly warm service (like they are family), they make the freshest batch of donuts for sale each morning. The place is an open donut shop, you can sometimes see the owners make the dough, fry em, and glaze them on the spot, which is a rare sight. The quality is amazing, the flavor is not too overly sweet like other kinds of places (more toned down, which I love! Because instead of 1 donut, I can now have 4). Their jelly filled donuts are amazing (jelly not too sweet), their tiger tails are soft, moist, slightly crispy, and there is enough glazed and Chocolate on the inside. The best part is I discovered their secret made to order menu....COCONUT FILLED and THAI TEA FILLED jelly donuts. Omg, this is literally Thailand style but made with American donut form. Sooooo good!
