I've eaten at Wolfgang Puck's restaurant, I've eaten at Ruth's Chris, the steak I had tonight was by far the best of them all. I had the 12oz prime USDA Rib Eye, cooked medium rare. From the first bite to the last it was pure bliss. Cooked perfectly, served neat...a splendid cut of beef. The bone marrow mash for a side was equally enjoyable. For dessert I tried the NY cheesecake that I personally felt was more NY style than authentic, the cheesecake was much lighter / perhaps whipped and/or aerated...which did not detract from the taste. It was wonderful. All three of my plates were eaten clean. The staff was friendly and engaging. I'd definitely return next time I'm in the area. read more

GR does it again. I just love their meat storage area. Expertly explained as to why and how it's stored that way. Staff trained well on the origin of their meats. GR hires the best staff. Sad to see what it would look like after Brexit since majority of their staff seem to be from EU countries. We came on an anniversary. Overlooking the odd location of this restaurant (seemingly in the middle of nowhere embedded in a residential area) and the tight squeeze within the restaurant, Maze Grill does offer a pleasant dining experience. The seating is comfortable and the service subtle yet attentive. The dishes are well presented and the food delicious. The sushi was delicate and fragrant, the steak juicy and chunky. Even the creme brulee and chocolate cake exceeds expectations. In essence Maze Grill may not be spectacular but it does deliver well on otherwise common concepts i.e. the food and drink is top-notch. read more

I wish I had better things to say about my experience at Maze Grill. The staff, ambiance, wine and sides were phenomenal. But I went for a steak! Although it was perfectly cooked, and a nice ribeye cut, that type of meat itself needs a bit of seasoning to amplify the flavor and this one had none. Nothing. I can get an equally nice steak myself and properly season it and save £150 on dinner just because of a name attached to it. It won't say it was bad, but it was nothing memorable. I don't think Gordon would approve. He would have sent it back to the kitchen. read more

A two-star experience for me, but the rest of the group liked it. First time that I've eaten in a Gordon Ramsay resto; it wasn't a great introduction. It took several tries to find something that I could eat. I settled on the salmon tartare roll (£11). I explained my allergies clearly, but the food came with two items that I can't eat. We were with friends who I see only rarely, so I didn't want to cause a fuss. Two of our group had the short rib burger (£14.50) which they loved. The upstairs bathroom was locked throughout our visit, which meant that everyone had to traipse downstairs. This isn't a good idea in a country which already poses enough obstacles for handicapped travellers because of the age of the buildings in which many restos are found. This was simply amazing. First, the drink selection is incredible. We started with a nice sake and a Wimbledon cocktail. Then, we had a salmon sashimi appetizer as well as mashed avacados. Both were excellent. The sashimi was very fresh and high quality. The yuzu sauce complemented it without being overpowering. As a Texan, I appreciate that the smashed avocados were not called guacamole, as it was not guacamole. The taste was very different as a result of a very different spice profile. We ordered the lamb and the salmon entrees. The lamb was some of the best lamb I have ever eaten. It was cooked perfectly medium rare and seasoned well so that it had a nice crust on the outside. The fat was nice and crispy. The salmon was also good, although not quite as good as the lamb. The skin was crispy. The flesh was cooked to a pink center. We each ordered mushrooms for sides, which were good but nothing particularly special. For dessert, we ordered a custard, which was more of a creme brulee. The sugar on top was crisp and cracked into the custard, which had a nice strong vanilla flavor that one would expect from a creme brulee. We were very happy. read more

well what can i say, after watching every Gordon Ramsey show i was hugely disappointed! i had a crab mouse to start... iam in my 50s eyesight is failing.. didn't realize the white plate was covered in white rock salt.... so couldn't figure out why it was so salty!!! i was torn between the beef wellington and the lobster thermador.. only to be told the lobster wasn't available.. i was then offered french fries with my beef wellington... a vegetable as versatile as a potato... and fries was the best they could come up with... i went for the roasted parsnips, which turned out to be the best part of the meal.. after seeing so many beef wellingtons on Mr Ramseys shows the crust was dry and the meat and mushrooms under seasoned... when the waiter poured the wine i thought it was a taster! nope that was the tightest pour i have ever seen... i was also refused a doggy bag for my left over cheese... Can't speak to everything about this place, we only stopped in for a drink while we were waiting for Restaurant Gordon Ramsay to open. That said, we'll definitely be going back here next time we're in London. There is nothing special, nor anything bad about the food. We both had steaks from the Rare Breed Selection portion of the menu (I had the ribeye and my wife had the fillet). They were fine. Both a touch overcooked, but still tender and flavorful. I suppose by British standards they were pretty good, but you get much better steaks at any decent steak restaurant in the US. I'm sure the USDA Prime and Wagyu offerings are better, but we didn't want to pay their premium. The sides we tried were buttermilk mashed potatoes (too creamy and soft, likely overblended), grilled portobellos (ok, pretty standard) and onion rings (these were pretty good, probably the highlight of the meal). There was also nothing special about the service. They were pleasant enough, but not too enthusiastic or engaging. They also mistakenly brought us fries/chips instead of mashed potatoes, but they apologized and fixed the mistake promptly. The space itself is small and cozy. Unfortunately we were seated next to a loud and boisterous patron who was drinking heavily. It certainly made for an unpleasant experience. I don't directly blame the restaurant for this, but when your restaurant is so tight, this can happen. Overall a pretty "meh" experience. Not bad, and I wouldn't be upset if I had to eat there again. But I wouldn't choose to go back. I expect a little more from a Gordon Ramsay property. The prices are pretty fair by London standards, but there are too many other interesting and unique places in London to settle for ordinary. read more

Very poor, especially compared to other Ramsay holdings - and I'm really not usually picky. But I had to write a review for this one. First, the food: our steaks were horribly undercooked and COLD - we had to send them back. I've never sent anything back before in my life. The salmon sushi was textureless. We ordered Mac and cheese and it never came. The service was slow and not very friendly. And they tried to charge us for tap water, though we specifically asked for it. The optional service charge was included so I felt too guilty to ask for it to be taken off. The atmosphere was subdued; the restaurant is small and not well decorated; not like a usual Ramsay Not worth the money or time - skip this one. read more

It's a Gordon Ramsay restaurant. I would expect better. The food was really very average. We had a good shaved cauliflower salad. My wife had sushi that would not pass muster in Los Angeles and I had a pretty mediocre buffalo fried chicken. It wasn't bad - it just wasn't very special. On top of that the decor is DREADFUL! its a dull little place and Ramsay should fire his interior designer immediately. It had a blah look of an average restaurant in an average road-warrior hotel in an average town in the middle of nowhere. The staff were nice enough, but they could not rescue this restaurant from the curse of bland-ness. All in all a poorly though out addition to the Ramsay empire. Must do better. Very disappointed to not be allowed to order the famous burger "pink". Told by the, otherwise excellent, waitress that it is against govt. regulations. This is simply not true, except in the USA/Canada. In the UK there are guidelines which allow for burgers to not be "well done". I am surprised that Mr Ramsey doesn't consider his meat sourcing and cooking to be able to meet these standards. (See FSA website). I will not accept a "well-done burger", ever, as there are plenty of places esp. in London to eat a burger cooked to one's own liking. So I had the Rib-eye steak which was good but not a patch on the one I had in Mr Ramsey's home town of Glasgow last night at The Butchershop in Finnieston. Shockingly, in Glasgow, it cost more than at Maze, in Chelsea, but worth every penny. read more
