i went here for mother's day what a mistake i wish i never made. my appetizer was okay it was melted cheese with chorizo. i ordered asada fries absolute misery i asked for extra green chile on top of everything included, fries only came with green chile absolutely disappointing. The service was really bad forgot 4 out of 6 of my guests silverware including myself. Never brought down more drinks when drinks clearly emptied, with all these problems , they kept hidden the 18% required tip that wasn't deserved. Service was great. They catered to me even though I didn't speak Spanish which was awesome. Very friendly staff. Came with free tortilla chips and some very tasty (and spicy) salsa. I ordered the huevos rancheros with steak. Breakfast is served all day. Will be back for sure even though it's a 30 minute drive from my home. read more

Yum! A friend and I went here for happy hour/dinner and I really enjoyed it. The service was super kind and they checked in on us often. The food and my marg was yummy and it all felt like it was worth its price. Not to mention, they play some good ass music in there haha. Would recommend this place, and I hope to go here again soon. I'm a sucker for good Mexican food. Probably one of the better Mexican food places I've been to in Colorado. I live in Lafayette, so it fulfilled something I've been lacking for a bit. Only because I can't do negative stars. We came here 2 weeks ago and the food was good Tonight I ordered the #1 combo plate, they forgot to cook it. My relleno had no cheese and the pepper was nasty. My taco had cold beef. And my enchilada was not cooked at all. The cheese was totally unrelated and they filled it with cheddar cheese shreds from a bag. Needless to say I did not eat much. This is my first time at this location despite being excited since before they opened up, I should have came sooner, the service was great. I really like what they've done with the place, it's, large and plenty of available seating, definately the type of restaurant that can benefit from every single customer specially during these times. The service was quick , timely and friendly. The food came out fairly quick and waitress checked in a coupe times, was hardly any customers but they started arriving for lunch atnoon. They have a large menu and wide variety for different pallettes. This will be my new favorite restaurant. The only downside was that the restaurant was noise bc there are no noise reduction buffers (carpet or rugs on the floors, or tapestries or rugs on the walls, etc.). We waited 40 minutes to get our order. From8:20pm, order just got here at 9:04pm. The food had been sitting on the kitchen a while because it is cold. The T-bone was so overcooked that my 12 year old refused to eat it. My steak was also over cooked and had no seasoning. And my husband traded his meat with our daughter so she could eat. The beans were delicious and we ended up eating tortillas with beans and avocado slices. Even more upsetting when some young kids came in and started drinking and playing their terrible loud music as if we were inside a nightclub ‍ To finalize the great leadership of the manager, once the waitress told him or her about our terrible dinner, never decided to apologize for the time (we were the only paying customers having dinner instead of drinks), but they did offer a dessert (we didn't get it) and a 10% off our check. Left with a stomach full of tortillas and beans, no dessert and of course they didn't honor their discount! Third and last time we visit this restaurant and most definitely the last! Alrighty than, we have been anticipating what to expect from this somewhat new Mexican restaurant that boasts the name that has big shoes to fill. Once again my Wife's family has frequented quite often the establishment of the same name located at the intersection of 44th and wadsworth. They were quite saddened by their closure. So anyway I've been watching the traffic at this location for the last few weeks and it has grown increasingly heavier by the week so I figured it was about time to try it. The atmosphere or ambience is a little sterile but will give them a pass because maybe their waiting to see wh at type of business comes in. I've been at this place when it has been a bar/pool hall of different names and they have done some interior work and put up some walls that separate the bar area from the dining area but we did notice ppl eating in the bar area. The dining area is spacious and comfortable for the most part just not much color in there. Onto the food. We all had something different and actually enjoyed everything we had although in all honesty my carnitas were somewhat dry but nothing some green chili didn't handle. My wife's combo looked awesome as well as my Son's cheese enchiladas. The beans and rice are homemade and DEFINITELY not out of a can. And if you've read any of my other reviews that goes along way with us when eating Mexican. So brass tax I WOULD recommend this local place that is not a franchise hopefully they won't change once they do pic k up and maybe add a little color to the place inside. read more

I'm always in the hunt for New Mexican places! I really like what they did to the place, I had a many nights at it when it was a bar before, but it looks great and different. Everything in the menu sounded fantastic, but I landed on the enchiladas and margaritas. I enjoyed every bite! So happy there's a new spot close to home. I've always loved Fritangas since they started on alameda. The food is as wonderful as ever! I always stick with the fajitas as they're my personal favorite, and they've never disappointed. They're really great about substitutions as well, hence the beautiful mushrooms with the peppers and shrimp on my fajitas! I really love how great the ambiance is at this location. So many great decorations, and I hear the owner did it all himself too, in addition to a lot of the cooking! I highly recommend this place when you're craving some incredible Mexican food! This is a fairly new restaurant that renovated an old bar. The renovations are amazing and I love their lights above each table. When we arrived, we were greeted and seated immediately. Our server took our drink orders and then our food orders. I ordered their carne asada loco burrito and it was absolutely delicious and huge. I need to mention that our food came out quickly. Our server was extremely pleasant and checked up on us several times to make sure we didn't need anything else. I would definitely return here!! read more

I've eaten here 2x now and had bad experiences both times. The first time the service was really slow and the dishes disappointing. The second time I came, the service was horribly slow, we were told incorrect information about what comes with the meals, and were not informed that meat substitutions would be a huge price increase. However, not including something with the meal meant the meal still cost the same. All the tables are wobbly too. The food itself was not good and tasted pretty weird with inconsistent flavors between the rice and beans. To top it off, everyone got food poisoning!!! And the suggested gratuity is actually automatically added to your individual bills with a line to add more tip. Don't waste your time going here. read more

Came on a Sunday and ordered the large menudo for takeout. It was pricey and did not come with much meat. The taste wasn't great. When I got home, I realized the menudo did not come with either cebolla, cilantro, limon, or oregano! Just plain ole menudo. Soo disappointing! Very meh. What's with all the five star reviews? I would not have gone here if there were fewer five star reviews. People and service were very nice. Ingredient quality was very good. Good value. Restaurant was clean and neat. but. . . The "hot" green chile sauce was not at all hot and had more red chile flavor than green. Flavor would have been reasonable if they had described it as a sweet creamy red chile sauce. The al pastor meat was barely detectable as anything particularly interesting mostly because - they put pineapple chunks in the burrito! Sweet and sugary is not the flavor I am seeking in an al pastor burrito smothered with "hot" green chile sauce. It was edible but how many items on their menu do I have to try before I find one that has that nice earthy green chile flavor and some bite to the spiciness? And for crying out loud leave the sweet flavor to dessert or thai curry! read more

We got 2 orders of asada tacos, chips with avocado salsa, and an order of asada fries. The tacos were so flavorful and generous on the meat and the fries were huge and covered in cheese, chili, and meat. Salsa with the tacos was nice and spicy and avocado salsa has always been our fave. Highly recommend. We picked up lunch today at 1pm and the food was ready in less than 10 mins. This was our first time at the Thornton location as we were regulars at the Hampden location before we moved. Will be back soon. read more

Decided to try it since they deliver with DoorDash and man oh man I wish I hadn't. It was awful. I ordered the Mexican hamburger. It was plated awful. By the time I received it the tortilla was soggy and inedible and the hamburger patty tasted like a Great Value char broiled frozen patty. My son ordered a bean and cheese burrito from the kids menu. The burrito was so small and the cheese was on the outside of the burrito. The kids plate also came with rice and although I didn't try it, my son took one bite and refused to eat the rest. My husband thought that our son was possibly trying to get out of finishing his food so he tried a bite of rice and he had to spit it out. Lastly my husband ordered Pozole de Mariscis but mistakenly was given 7 Mares. The broth was funny tasting, the shrimp was extremely rubbery and inedible and there were several crushed up pieces of bay leaves (if you cook with bay leaves you should know that you can not eat them and they should be removed before placed in a serving dish). Also dumped out the two large Horchatas we ordered because the only flavor we could taste was evaporated milk and cinnamon. Needless to say, we will not be ordering from Gordo's ever again. read more

We tried this place out not knowing what to expect. We walked in and the place was practically empty. Right away red flags go up with me. We were seated right away and our server was almost immediately there bringing our utensils and chips/salsa. The seat that I sat on was not comfortable. It sank too low and made feel like I needed to ask for a booster chair. For starters, we ordered the shrimp and fish ceviche. Nothing special about this aside from the fact that it is both fish and shrimp. I was hoping they would bring it out sooner than when we got it. Because it seemed a couple minutes later the main dishes came out. We ordered the Molcajete Mar Y Tierra, which is chicken, beef and shrimp, simmered in their special sauce, garnished with grilled cactus leaves, fresh cheese, grilled onions and grilled jalapefio. This is a huge dish! This can easily feed 2 people. This dish has great and different flavors in one dish because of the different meats you get. You can create a taco with either types of meats so it's like having several dishes in one. This was cooked really well and the presentation was like watching porn... Only it's food. It comes to your table in a pot that's still boiling and bubbling. The other dish we ordered was the 7 MARES. This a soup that has fish, shrimp, scallops, oysters, clams and octopus cooked in its own broth. I chose bread to go along with the garnishes. The seafood flavors was real dominant in this dish which I love. And what I love the most about this soup is that it has tons of seafood in it. This is a seafood lover's delight! And this is another large dish that can easily feed 2 people. I would recommend getting bread with this instead of the tortillas because the garlic bread dipped in the soup gives a different taste and variety to it. I would give this place a try again. I will make sure to not sit in the booths and will definitely try their other dishes. read more
