Gordy's is such a cute local gem! The interior is so vibrant and welcoming. A perfect spot for an afternoon pick-me-up. I grabbed a Sunshine Spiced Iced Latte and a Lemon Bar. Both were delicious! It's a great place if you're looking for a unique turmeric latte. I actually accidentally dropped my lemon bar right after paying and the staff was kind enough to replace it for me. Amazing service and such a sweet atmosphere. It made my day. Thank you!

Was in the area waiting for a neighboring business to open and decided to stop here for some goodies. They have a wide variety of items, including cookies, empanadas, scones, and bread on display in a refrigerated case, and everything looked so enticing that it was difficult to decide what to order. I chose a s'mores cookie, and my husband got a banana bread slice, along with a cranberry scone and a few other items for friends to try. Each item is already individually wrapped in plastic wrap, and cold. I waited until later in the day to try the cookie: it was definitely a sweet treat with just the right amount of marshmallow, graham cracker and chocolate in every bite.

I just started working in Encinitas and don't know the area well. I was driving and saw this place this morning! It's super cute inside, but small. There are a few tables inside and a few outside that are covered. The art on the walls is super cool! Service was great. I ordered a vanilla chai latte and chocolate banana bread! Super yummy. I'll definitely be back to try some of their other goodies. Oh! Plenty of free parking available in the lot.

As others have commented, very pretty place, love all those posters of the Belly Up concerts and how colorful and cozy is this bakery. But the baked goods are all wrapped which looks so weird to me. The capuccino was great, good fresh coffee but the croissant with egg and ham didn't have any flavor and looked half baked to me. I think next time I will go for coffee only.

    Chocolate scone was very good.

This is a charming little coffee shop decorated with very cool concert posters everywhere. A lot of reviews complain about the service but our counter gal was wonderful. We tried a maple scone (very dry and not very flavorful), a chocolate scone (less dry with a very nice flavor) and Trop Plonk (still not sure what a plonk is but it looked and tasted like a tropical muffin. It was nice.). The croissants were enormous but we didn't try them. They also had other baked goods and breakfast sandwiches. Good stuff.

One thing i definitely love about this place is that the sandwiches are made to order. I got a bacon egg and cheese bagel and it was so delicious. The eggs were so light and fluffy with the perfect amount of bacon. The owners were very nice, friendly and attentive. I loved the vibes as well it was very fun to look at all the posters and other things they had in the shop.

Nice hidden gem! Good bakery items & coffee.. just how we like it I got a regular caramel macchiato & my wife got a spiced latte.

Nice ambiance inside the store. Service was great. But the currant scone was soggy and peanut butter and chocolate cookie was falling apart in chunks and mediocre at best. I appreciated the relatively low sugar in both baked goods, but sadly the texture, consistency, and overall flavor profile was off for both, especially if they were baked fresh in the morning. Sorry, but at $6 a baked good, you need to be better than the conveyer belt pastries at the mainstream coffee shops...or at least as good as the pastries at the local, well-known coffee shops with the words Phil or Buzz in their names.

Hidden gem in Encinitas. Love the coffee (try a dirty chai! You're welcome!), the baked goods, and the staff. Always a pleasant experience and they do have some tables if you're looking to just hang out.

Small but interesting variety of baked goods. They had sausage rolls in addition their signature "plonks", and croissants.

Service was pretty quick, which I appreciated. They also offer gluten-free cookies and other baked goods, which is a nice bonus. That said, the gluten-free cookie on its own was pretty bland--but I could see it being much better paired with ice cream. One thing to note: they don't really offer a kids size, and when I asked for smaller portions, they said it would still be charged as a regular--so parents of little ones, just a heads up! The ambiance wasn't super inviting--more of a "grab your treat and go" vibe--but with its prime location near the beach, it's easy to see why it stays busy. Overall, still worth checking out!

We ordered two flavors, which was four scoops, hoping we could split the ice cream into two cups so we would each have two scoops. We asked our server if they could split the ice cream for us--just put two Ube Matcha scoops in one cup, two Cookies and Cream scoops in another. This is against company policy, but they were willing to give us a second cup so we can surgically operate on the mixed ice cream and split it ourselves (??). The Matcha Ube was more green tea flavored than matcha or ube. The Cookies and Cream was good. The ice cream--even if three scoops for one flavor--is just not worth the street parking or flavor mashing. There are other better ice cream places. Service: 3/5 Nothing to say or add. No bad news is good news. Atmosphere: 2/5 Holy overstimulation. There were two other families in the ice cream parlor with us, and we were all being serviced at once at the cashier. It's too small of a room to do that. I would recommend this place to kids 12 and under who live down the street and need a quick sweet treat. Final rating: 2/5

THE BAKED BEAR ENCINITAS…read more Parking is mostly street parking, and you may be able to find a few spots nearby. Since it is located on the main strip of Encinitas, it can get pretty busy depending on the day and time. I came on a Sunday afternoon with one of my friends because we were craving a little sweet treat. There are so many dessert spots along the main street in Encinitas, but I had only been to The Baked Bear in Pacific Beach before, so I wanted to try this location. When you walk in, you can order a scoop of ice cream, cookies, brownies, or create your own custom ice cream sandwich by mixing and matching your choice of cookies, brownies, and ice cream flavors. I decided to go all out and made an ice cream sandwich with a brownie on one side and a Cookies and Cream cookie on the other, filled with Cookies and Cream ice cream. It was so delicious. The cookies were warm, soft, and paired perfectly with the cold ice cream. I would definitely recommend this combination. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. It is a little on the pricey side since my custom ice cream sandwich came out to about $10. Personally, it is one of those desserts that you could probably recreate at home with store bought ingredients, but it is still a fun experience that everyone should try at least once. If I had one suggestion, I wish they made their ice cream in house or offered more unique flavors. Most of the flavors were pretty classic, so I would have loved to see some more creative options. The shop itself is nice, but there is not much indoor seating. There are a few standing tables outside along with some chairs right in front of the shop, which is where my friend and I ended up sitting. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely come back whenever I am in the mood for a sweet treat.

They offer a punch card, and a water station which comes in handy. Just a really chill place. Not cheap whatsoever but it's worth the splurge if you're on vacation.

Upon entering, I immediately loved how homey the restaurant felt. The open windows made it light and bright inside, while still feeling warm, comfortable, and welcoming. We were greeted by a gentleman who was very kind and friendly from the start. We were hungry, so of course we ended up ordering quite a bit of food lol! We got the lumpia, fish ball appetizer, kamote fries, sizzling sisig, bistek Tagalog, vegetable coconut soup (ginataan), and of course we had to finish everything off with halo halo! As a Filipino, I was impressed with the food. I especially enjoyed the sizzling sisig, and the bistek Tagalog really reminded me of home. Everything else we tried was delicious as well, and I'm already looking forward to coming back because I definitely want to try the kare kare next time. Of course, we had to wash everything down with dessert, so we ordered the halo halo. Honestly, I've had better halo halo, but it was still refreshing and enjoyable. And really, what better way to end a yummy Filipino meal than with a classic Filipino dessert? The service was also excellent. The gentleman helping us was so kind and friendly, checked on us often, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Overall, I would definitely recommend Carin de Ria to anyone craving Filipino food in North County. Great food, a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and excellent service. I will definitely be back!
