Prager Brothers is just one of those places that never disappoints. Their bread is truly fantastic -- you can tell it's made with care, and everything always tastes fresh and high quality. I also have to mention their croissants, which are excellent. I love all of their locations. The Carlsbad spot has a slightly more extensive menu -- especially with the pizzas -- but the Encinitas location is just as good and always worth the stop. My personal favorites are the ham and gruyère baguette and the Pizza Florentine, and their cookies are dangerously good. And if you're a coffee person, you'll be happy here -- their espressos, lattes, and cappuccinos are consistently great. It's simply a gem of a local spot for really good bread, coffee, and casual bites. read more

This is such an amazing place! I was looking for a delicious bread for a long time and finally I found this place. The bread is fresh, tasty, simple, no preservatives. Great variety, stores well in the freezer. The viennoiseries are a combination of classic and unique, and amazing: you have to try their fig bar! Do not try their almond and chocolate croissant though, please. Otherwise they will ran out and I won't be able to get mine. I compared their regular butter croissant with other "French" ones, and this one wins by a huge margin: airy, fluffy, just enough sweetness. They recently expanded in their main location, now you can get a sandwich, coffee and pizza. They also collaborate with other local vendors and you can find some unique items in their fridge. I am so disappointed in you turning the best bread I ever had in the United States into the typical white, Pillsbury flour bread. Your epi bread used to be epic and now joins the ranks of nondescript supermarket breads. What a shame. We drove 60 miles to buy 6 Epi loaves at your Encinitas store for a party not knowing that you change the recipe since our last visit two weeks ago. This is no longer artisan bread . Ah, the mouth-watering smell of freshly baked bread! One simply can't escape the comforting feeling it brings. There's a huge selection of newly baked breads, freshly made sandwiches, and pizzas -- and the pizza is so good. There are a few logistical challenges when it comes to ordering pizza, so it would be great if the website made the ordering process a bit easier. They also offer delicious packaged cookies to take home. We absolutely love sitting on their outdoor patio, enjoying a cup of coffee with a buttery, flaky, and delightful croissant. I've tried to support this place as a local business, but this crossed the line. I paid $10.75 for a turkey sandwich and the turkey portion was so small I weighed it myself: 1.9 ounces. That is not a fair portion for that price. What makes it worse is that the same sandwich was listed at $6 in 2021. So now customers are paying about 79% more and apparently getting a sandwich with barely any turkey on it. That is not "artisan." That is taking advantage of people who trust they're getting fair value. I don't mind paying more when the quality and portion match the price. Here, they didn't. People should know what they're actually getting before they spend their money. For me, this was enough. I won't be back. read more

I wanted to like this place so much, but it honestly felt like a waste of money. I don't understand the hype.My sandwich was hard as a rock, it hurt my teeth to bite into it. I also ordered a vanilla latte half sweet. I literally could make a pot of coffee and just throw ice on it which felt like this is what they did. For the price it's very disappointing. As they were making my drink I noticed they filled my cup with ice and I kindly asked her to do light ice and she mentioned that if we did that the drink wouldn't be a full drink... not sure why since I'm paying for a full coffee. Usually if you order a large coffee the standard is 2 shots of espresso I asked how many shots were in it and she said one. Won't be coming back and wouldn't ever recommend to anyone read more

Prager's is the local gold standard for all things bread. We stop in at least weekly to stock up on my family's favorite pizza dough, baguette, and croissants. Prager's is so consistent! It's always good, all the time. They're a well oiled machine when it comes for churning out flaky goodness. Plus my kids enjoy watching the bakers & their process during morning visits. I like this place, and I like much of what they sell. I am a big fan of the fruit galettes, the danish rolls, the morning buns, the butter croissants, the sourdough bread, and the baguettes. I have not developed a taste for their flatbreads, oddly flavored breads like olive or spelt, their sandwiches, or their bagels. Their carrot cake, when they have it, is delightful. Their sandwich bread is a waste of money; bread from the grocery store is fresher and makes better sandwiches. I've tried the sandwich bread twice (both times on days they make it) and both times I've dumped it into my compost bin after a few bites. I have never managed to finish eating a Prager Brothers cookie (too dry) and never managed to get down more than one bite of their cardamom knot. So I don't buy those. Their list of products is huge. I know which ones I like, and I buy them regularly; I know which ones I don't like, and I don't buy them. I guess you need skills to be a customer here. I wish I didn't like their epi baguettes so much, because when I buy one, I eat too much of it. read more

The crumb on their sourdough is what I hope to achieve whenever I bake sourdough! Their country sourdough didn't even last to the end of the week because I kept treating myself to a slice. Their sausage croissant was reminiscent of a sausage roll I had in Australia. The croissant stayed flakey and buttery with flavorful ground meat inside. This is a hidden gem! I was greeted at door which was in industrial area and a bit tricky to find. I was happy to meet friends and sit outside (only seating) with my pup and drink coffee and eat fresh pastries which were delicious. There was a lovely view across the street and soon a musician arrived w a guitar and played some lovely jazz. I understand music is only on Sunday. One of my friends was on way to airport and got a sandwich for the trip. I also saw a handful of salads in the cooler. Choices changed quickly as best choices were earlier in the morning. Prager Brothers Used to be my favorite bakery in North County. The pastries are still good. The pizzas are still fantastic (get the Florentine). Unfortunately they keep ripping off their customers. Once can be forgiven. Twice may be can be overlooked. But multiple times seems to be shame on me. Multiple times I got charged for food I ordered but did not receive. One time it's a couple of Ciabatta Rolls. Next time it's an Apple Galete. Last time it was a couple of Pain aux Raisins. Maybe I'm to blame for placing a large order, thus enabling the staff to "forget" items that I am charged for. Call me old-fashioned, but I need to go to a bakery where you actually always receive what you pay for. It turns out this place is not Prager Brothers. Have tried a few sandwiches here so far. The turkey chimichurri sandwich is decent. Thought it was a little bland and wasn't a fan of the chimichurri. The Spicy Italian sandwich was pretty good. It hasn't been consistent though. Some days I really enjoy it and other days it seems to be lacking in ingredients. Some fine tuning in the preparation would be appreciated. The staff are friendly and we've always been able to easily find parking in this plaza. There is a sister restaurant right next door that makes pizza to check out. Okayyyyyy Prager, this is a little slice of heaven! I'm a big Encinitas gal as I used to attend church in downtown Encinitas. I would always stop by their shop for fresh croissants or a breakfast sandwich whenever I had the chance. But living in Oceanside has changed my route a bit. I've been meaning to try their Carlsbad location for ages and today, dreams came true! There are two separate little cafes to order from (right next door to each other)...one focuses mainly on pizza and grab & go items. The other is the true bakery with the classic lineup of breads, pastries, and premade fresh sandwiches. We ordered two slices: the Florentine and sausage mushroom (each for $5) and they were scrumptious. You can also buy pastry flour, bagged coffee, a variety of drinks to go, and even some soups! Saw this place on Yelp and it was close to where we were staying so we decided to come and check it out. Once we arrived we knew it was the right place to be. There was a line out the door. It probably has a lot of regular customers. They have a vast selection of pastries and breads. I bought two ham and cheese croissants and one cream and apricot danish. The ham and cheese croissant were good , but would have been better warmed up. I saved to danish for another today and let me just say it was delicious not to sweet but so good. Their first business started in (and still resides) in our food innovation warehouses in Carlsbad where the brothers started as kids straight out of college toying with the idea of following their passion for baking.
