Wrong size seat post
James A.

UPDATE 1/11/25: After writing this review, the shop reached out and got my dad the correct seat post. I can respect and appreciate when a business does the right thing. I think that we should be willing to give second chances because everyone has off days. Thank you for caring enough to reach out and correct the situation. Original Post: If you're shopping for parts, I'd recommend shopping major online stores where you can return or exchange with no issues. Or just find a different local shop to try. My father is a disabled senior who had his bike stolen. Thankfully we recovered it but some parts were missing. So we sent him to this local shop to get the bike right. He took the bike with him to purchase a new seat post. He looked up what part number he needed before he got there (304). The guy behind the counter told him the computer says it's 309 that he needs. My father told him that he needs 304, but bike shop experts must know best and they sent him home with 309 and told him that if it doesn't fit he can exchange it. Well guess what? That was a lie. It was the wrong size and didn't fit, it's part 304 that he needs not 309 but they refused to do an exchange for him because of damage from trying to make it fit like they said it would (they told him he needed to pound it in to make it fit and that just got it stuck!). I understand that it could have been an honest mistake from the shop, but the right thing to do would have been to get him the right part because he told them what size he needed in the first place and they steered him in a different direction. Making it right is offering an exchange as promised, a prorated refund, the part he needs at cost, or anything but the rude and dismissive response he got when he went back to get the correct size 304 he needed and told them he needed from the beginning. If you're not an expert with building bikes and don't know everything about them, don't go here. You will be taken advantage of! There was a previous incident as well where he took the bike in for a tube repair and when he came back to pick it up they charged him for a brake service repair that he did not authorize or request. It's like an oil change shop that tells you, you need $2k in other services when you just try to get an oil change, except here, they just do it and charge you. I really hope it's not because they see a senior and could take advantage. If you are reading this and are considering giving them your business, be warned and consider spending your hard earned money elsewhere, where you won't have a high chance of being taken for a ride.

Redline serviced by Gordys. Always great.

The idiots had the bike for 5 days and they can't fix it they left dirty greasy fingerprints all over the white wall tires and grease on the whole bike from their greasy fingerprints, I had to come home and clean the greasy fingerprints off my white sidewalls And wipe the whole entire bike down with greasy prints on the whole frame then they scratch the bike up with their bike holder that locks on to the bike....if Beavis and Butthead mechanics work for me they would be packing their bags. Owner is very sarcastic and rude and unprofessional he likes to interrupt you when you try to talk to him on the phone, matter of fact he text me at first and said we have to contact the manufacturer about your rear Axle. I never got a call for an estimate also they just started to fix the bike and said the rear axle had internal problems in the three-speed gearing. Nothing but complaints on Yelp over this shit hole bike shop. Never had a owner send me a text he should be calling customers on the phone so finally I called back and talked to him that's when he started interrupting me when I was trying to talk very belligerent and very rude. I would not recommend this shit hole bike shop to anyone nothing but complaints about this place. Then I'm checking the bike out and looking at the rear tire and it's not even straight my God Beavis and Butthead here can't even put a rear tire straight it's on an angle so now I have to recheck everything and fix it myself. If the company is called Exhale.... they might want to probably inhale more crack..lol

For weeks he's talked about when he gets paid and his new bike. Would I help him pick it up? We scoped out a nearby bike shop. He switched to a pawn shop on his bus route home. Today was Thursday Sit and Chat, 2:30-4 pm Corner on the Market. He loves it because people enjoy him. Plus food and Independence! On the journey home was Grey Matter Bike Shop. We stopped to investigate. You donate a bike, they refurb it. Proceeds from used bike sales are donated to Barrow Neurologic Hospital. The owner's son died from brain cancer. Barrow treated him. The owner is paying back by healing old bicycles and donating the profit.. They also have a full showroom of fine electric and pedal powered bicycles at standard pricing. Plus excellent repair and service staff. Mr. G wanted a bike with a wide, comfortable seat. Sit and Chat Dave advised him to pick a bike short enough to not injure his groin areas when putting both feet on the pavement. We found a One Speed coaster brake cruiser, semi-fat tires. Simple to ride and repair. Wide, supportive seat. Built for comfort. Nearly new, brand new rear tire. $125.00. We pick it up tomorrow ar 10 am.

My feeling was if they didn't think you were going to do that, they'd go to someone else who might. Today, against my better judgment, I stopped at Sun Cyclery. I didn't take my bike in because it would give them a chance to over sell me. I was in no mood for that. I was amazed by how helpful Troy was when I walked in the door. He was very willing to help me find really what I wanted and suggested ordering the bicycle seat that I needed. I had checked prices on line before going in so was pleasantly surprised to find the price would be about what I would have paid online. I also found other accessories I've needed. I feel good about my experience. One thing too. Troy was more than willing to take the time to discuss my needs. When I left, I asked what time they closed. Turns out they had closed fifteen minutes earlier. I never would have known. That is great service. I asked and found out Sun has had new owners for about four years. How nice! Scottsdale Bike Co. is one of the last reputable shops standing in my beloved Town of 53 years. At other shops in Old Town, I feel the money getting sucked out of my pockets just walking in the door. Some of the smaller shops even think it's acceptable to talk down to me when I am asking about service. The Team at Scottsdale Bike Co. are my kind of people. They'll openly chat about what I can fix on my own and what I need them to handle for me. Their labor costs are the lowest I have found in Scottsdale, and I genuinely enjoy chatting for a few minutes with the service team when I have a chance to pop in to get some work done or see if they can find a part for me. If you're not getting your service and repairs done at Scottsdale Bike Co. you're throwing money away, and I can give you my Zelle if you want to throw your money away in my direction. What started out as a Google search to rent a quality and fun mountain bike, at an affordable /fair price, lead us to Scottsdale Bike Company. Quick call on the drive from California confirmed they had what we needed. Upon arrival they noted we were stacking the bikes in the back of our suv, and one of the guys offered his personal hitch rack to ease our load and set it up for us. After a fun hour at the Mesa bike park, we had my gfs son's personal bike break. After fiddling and realizing the severity we quickly ran back to SBC just before closing. The guys got right to work without much more than a question to see if they could get us back on the road before we left the shop. I rented a Large MTB and they offered to swap us out for a bike more fitting for the 12 year old. I said thanks, we'll take it. They then insisted I didn't miss out and sent us on our way with another bike rental. A beautiful amazing and quality full suspension MTB. They inspected each unit thoroughly. Noting one had some damage, and despite them being able to send us with it, they did not. They ensured they sent us on the trails with a solid well looked after unit. As we came back to return the next day, and pick up the bike. They did everything they could to get us running, but it being a 10 year old model (They didn't have parts on hand) they offered to help but would take time to get parts, we're just in town for a short while. When I asked what we owed them for inspecting and trying to fix it, they declined our payment outside of the rentals. True gentleman, incredibly kind, generous with their time and resources. I'd pay every penny to them for parts, service, even a purchase. Whether visiting, or a local, take a minute to give them a chance to have your business! You won't regret it. As honest as they come.

Unfortunately, this business does not understand the legal implications of accepting a service…read morerequest from someone with younger onset Alzheimer's, without contacting POAs (powers of attorney). And yes, the shop owner was aware of my husband's Alz diagnosis prior to accepting the service request. My neighbor Greg, who I asked to leave our family alone in February 2025, took my ill husband with younger Alz and his bike in to this shop in July 2025. The neighbor struck a deal with my husband's mother to pay for the service. As my husband's medical power of attorney (btw he has a court appointed conservator for financials), I was never informed. When my 5yo daughter and I got home, my husband had no idea where his bike, his backpack, or his cell phone were. All was lost in the time that I went to have lunch and pick up my daughter from kindergarten. On our wild goose chase that evening when I should've been helping my daughter with homework, brushing teeth, and evening routine, we found his bike at this bike shop, and then my husband vaguely recalled some intervention by our dirty gossip-Gabby, Nosey Nancy neighbor Greg who refuses to leave our family alone. Little did the shop owner realize that our family had been in legal battles with my husband's aggressive horrible mother for 3 years. She has lost every futile battle, yet she keeps trying. Her latest failed attempt involves threats of legal action regarding my daughter. So the neighbor Greg striking a deal for my husband's mother to pay for his bike? No. Not allowed. My husband's conservator even refuses to answer his mother's calls due to her belligerence. So unfortunately, this shop should educate themselves on accepting service requests from persons with Alzheimer's, and understanding that you need to communicate with the POA prior to service acceptance. The outcome: I accepted the invoice and paid from our marital account, even though I never (nor did the conservator) requested or agreed to this service. EDITED TO ADD: When we all came in for me to pay and pick up his bike, I asked the shop owner "do you know he has Alzheimer's?" he said YES. So please, if you are a business owner and you knowingly accept a service request from someone with a severe cognitive impairment, you MUST ask for POAs to ensure this is the right decision for that person. Someone told me "what are you supposed to do when someone with Alzheimer's has a broken bike?" You find the Medical and/or Financial POA for that person and work as a TEAM. You don't take matters into your own hands - this is literal exploitation of a vulnerable adult. Fortunately for us, my husband is now placed in memory care so he cannot be exploited, and so we don't end up with wild goose chases around town when I need to be working and raising my daughter on my own. Shame on everyone involved who caused confusion in my husband and harm to our family.
