Not only could they not help with me with the part I needed, they recommended another part that was more expensive. UPDATE 1/11/25: After writing this review, the shop reached out and got my dad the correct seat post. I can respect and appreciate when a business does the right thing. I think that we should be willing to give second chances because everyone has off days. Thank you for caring enough to reach out and correct the situation. Original Post: If you're shopping for parts, I'd recommend shopping major online stores where you can return or exchange with no issues. Or just find a different local shop to try. My father is a disabled senior who had his bike stolen. Thankfully we recovered it but some parts were missing. So we sent him to this local shop to get the bike right. He took the bike with him to purchase a new seat post. He looked up what part number he needed before he got there (304). The guy behind the counter told him the computer says it's 309 that he needs. My father told him that he needs 304, but bike shop experts must know best and they sent him home with 309 and told him that if it doesn't fit he can exchange it. Well guess what? That was a lie. It was the wrong size and didn't fit, it's part 304 that he needs not 309 but they refused to do an exchange for him because of damage from trying to make it fit like they said it would (they told him he needed to pound it in to make it fit and that just got it stuck!). I understand that it could have been an honest mistake from the shop, but the right thing to do would have been to get him the right part because he told them what size he needed in the first place and they steered him in a different direction. Making it right is offering an exchange as promised, a prorated refund, the part he needs at cost, or anything but the rude and dismissive response he got when he went back to get the correct size 304 he needed and told them he needed from the beginning. If you're not an expert with building bikes and don't know everything about them, don't go here. You will be taken advantage of! There was a previous incident as well where he took the bike in for a tube repair and when he came back to pick it up they charged him for a brake service repair that he did not authorize or request. It's like an oil change shop that tells you, you need $2k in other services when you just try to get an oil change, except here, they just do it and charge you. I really hope it's not because they see a senior and could take advantage. If you are reading this and are considering giving them your business, be warned and consider spending your hard earned money elsewhere, where you won't have a high chance of being taken for a ride. read more

I bought a bike from these guys a few weeks back--I was JUST taking it around the neighborhood and the axle for the rear wheel literally broke apart and the whole wheel came off the bike and rolled into my boyfriend jogging behind me. It literally looked like a scene from final destination. Luckily since the wheel was small and I wasn't going very fast, he wasn't injured, but how could a "reputable" bike shop sell a bike on the verge of breaking? Imagine the same situation happened to a child on a trail. I can only imagine how bad this could've turned out. Do better, Gordy's. Also, get a better name. Yours is lame. Great shop I've been coming here since I was a child about 20 years ago (technically they were closer to 51st ave and thunderbird at the time) but they are a top caliber shop especially for any competition bike needs whether bmx racing, dirt, street, DH anything really they have it all. Gordy the original owner was an amazing genuine guy full of love for the sport and after passing on he had Kevin and Kim take over and they both too are fully invested in the shop with a great family and team on and off the track there to support him. If you haven't made your way in then you certainly should do it asap they will take care of you and make sure your bike is worked on correctly and give true recommendations as they know everything about bikes you'll need to know. Even for those little toddlers too they have striders to teach them to ride young! I found Gordy's on the Yelp app when I needed to get a wheel straightened for my wife's bicycle. I took the wheel in and spoke with Cindy, who is awesome!! She was friendly and knowledgeable, and answered my inquiry. I left the wheel with them on Friday morning and was told it should be done on Monday. Well, that part was incorrect.....I didn't make it back home!! They contacted me within 15 minutes that the work was complete!! I returned to the store, picked up the wheel, and am very pleased with the quality of the work, the price, and especially the time it took to complete it!!! I have now had 3 bad experiences at Gordy's so I think I will go ahead and assign the sad "one star". 1st experience: My husband drops off a bike for repairs and pays up front. I pick up the bike a week later and get charged the same amount - as they claimed he had not paid for it. Sure enough I found I'd been charged twice for the same work. I told them this when I went back in for bad experience number 2 and they had no interest in fixing the previous mix up. 2nd experience: I brought in a bike for repairs and also wanted to purchase a brand new bike. They make a ticket for the little bike I brought in and don't ever take it back. It took FOREVER for the person to process the new bike for me - mostly because he kept talking to people. He kept disappearing and seemed kind of lost as well. At the end, I've purchased a new bike and they say they will come and help me load it into the truck. It's a large men's mountain bike and had my bag and small child with me. The sales guy actually starts talking to a customer as he is walking back to get the bike for me and never comes back! I'm not sure if he had a massive attention deficit issue or what but then he (and an employee that is just standing around doing nothing) see me trying to keep ahold of my kiddo, my purse, and steer a bike that is way to big for me (because it was a gift) out of the store. And no one offered to help at all. I felt that was a big slap in the face when I've just purchased the bike, talk about buyer's remorse. ALSO, just to drop off the bike for repairs and to purchase a new bike (which I knew which one I wanted when I walked in the door and didn't need anytime to think it over) took ALMOST TWO HOURS! Had I not been SO desperate to get out of that place, I would have asked them to just return it because they were so incredibly rude immediately after I gave them the money for the new bike. 3rd (AND FINAL) experience: My husband goes to pick up the bike that was repaired (at least it was suppose to be repaired). They can't find it. He is there for almost an hour and after they find it, low and behold, nothing had been done to the bike. I think that they probably do good work on bikes (if they get around to doing it), as in, they are probably good at the "hands on" part of the work and if you don't mind waiting for lengthy periods of time AND if they don't lose your bike.... THEN you may find them to be a good fit. But they are horribly unorganized and have serious customer service issues. -- To clarify, they have never been rude, just painful unorganized and they have no sense of urgency or appropriate professional courtesy. read more

My son is 6 years old and had a flat tire on his bike so we brought it up to the shop. My son was so proud of learning how to ride his bike, so he wanted to walk his bike in to the shop by himself like a big kid. Like many other shops such as skate shops or other trendy shops I was apprehensive about this feeling like the guys at the shop might just be way to "COOL" to give him the time of day. I was very wrong in this case. The guys behind the counter talked to him and treated him with the utmost respect, encouraged him and left him excited and feeling like he was part of something.
