I was talked into doing RAGBRAI, so I pulled my bike out to start training and quickly realized I had a puncture in my slime tires. I rode it down to Savage Bicycles to see what they could do, and from the moment I walked in, I was impressed. I was greeted by Caden, who was incredibly friendly, professional and knowledgeable. He recommended a few smart upgrades to make sure my bike would be safe and comfortable for the ride, but there was absolutely no high-pressure sales vibe, which I loved. I also explained that I'd be leaving town and wouldn't be able to pick my bike up until Monday, and they had no problem storing it for a couple of days. Their communication truly can't be beat. I received a detailed quote up front and consistent updates throughout the process. The best part was finding out the final upgrade cost was actually cheaper than originally quoted. What impressed me most, though, was the staff as a whole. While I was there, someone came in with a mountain bike looking for parts, another customer was interested in a triathlon bike, and no one had to wait around for "the right person" to help them. Every staff member clearly knows their stuff when it comes to all types of bikes. That level of knowledge across the entire team is rare. Great bike store located in Surprise! I have been searching for new mountain bikes for me and my son for a few months and we visited 2 other shops before finding Savage. The experience we had was by far the best out of the 3. First off they actually had a large selections of bikes from multiple manufacturers and styles in store and second the employees were helpful, patient, knowledgeable and friendly. Both of the other stores we visited only had a few bikes in stock and typically only one brand. Also their employees were not attentive, friendly or they seemed bothered to answer questions. Savage is now my go to bike store event those the others I had visited are so much closer to me. I will be recommending Savage to anyone looking for a new bike or service on their existing one. read more

Even though I'm from Manhattan, lately I find myself in the neighborhood of Savage Bicycles. Why? Aging relative needed some major help--whatever. Anyhow, I hate golf, so I'm bored out of my mind. You can't really walk around here like I do at home; therefore, it occurred to me that the perfect solution would be a bike. Since I haven't bought a bike for about twenty years, walking into Savage Bicycles gave me a bit of vertigo--Rip Van Winkle ain't been keeping up on bike tech. I was a tad overwhelmed. The staff... and specifically one guy in particular, immediately and thoroughly brought me up to speed. I mean, seriously... what the fuck is a gravel bike? Anyhow, he was great and didn't laugh or even smirk at any of my stupid questions. I'm definitely buying stuff here. Amazing experience! I went in to buy a few accessories for my new e-bike . I wish I would've bought my E bike from them, but I did not know that they sold it at the time. I brought home my accessories and couldn't install the mirror correctly so I rode my bike back to their shop and in Minutes they fixed my issue and installed both mirrors ! Had the worse customer service experience ever. I purchased two E-Bikes totaling $1,903 plus tax. Explained everything to the sales guy (Blake) that we were going on a road trip and we had just purchased a RV and wanted these bikes to take with us. Blake took the time to make sure that the bike (Purple) was available and assured us that it would take for days to get in and ready. We agreed that it would work so we went ahead and purchased both bikes. Took possession of one and was going to get the second one Thursday. This would work for us since we would be leaving on Friday. Called back on Thursday to see if it had come in and was met with not favorable news. Tried talking with the Manager Shaun and this was where the problem began. Tried to see if he would be able to contact the vendor to see if maybe it would be in on Friday morning and push out our time to leave. Instead Shaun stated it probably would not arrive until Monday. Shaun placed the blame on the vendor never looking on how to make things right for the customer. Blake was not available to validate that it was promised on Thursday. Shaun refused to work with us, when in attempting to get another bike prior to us leaving for the same amount of what was already paid. Shaun wanted us to pay $200+ more. We tried to just return the bike we had already purchased and Shaun refused saying that once the bike leaves the store there is no refunds. They will take your money fast but no customer service for it. Had to just call it a day and return the one that had not come in and get a refund. So much for a good experience, I was told it was just a bike. A thousand dollar bike and worse experience. read more

December 18, 2025 Once in a while we're lucky enough to offer a review of a product or service that truly merits a rating in excess of the highest positive score offered. Such has been my experience with Savage Bicycles, in particular with Tony whom I found to be surpassingly customer-focused, friendly, easy to work with and by every measure a gentleman. In my case, I had already had very, very good experiences with all the personnel at Savage Bicycles whenever I came into the shop either to purchase a product of some kind or lug in my Cannondale bike for periodic maintenance. In this present instance, my situation was much different, so much so that an at-home service call was needed. Tony was not at the shop when I came in about a week ago to inquire about such a thing. I was well met by his co-worker who cheerfully took my name, phone number and address and promised that Tony would get back to me by phone as soon as he could to discuss particulars. In brief, Tony did indeed call in a very timely manner and we quickly made the arrangements to perform some "major surgery" on my TerraTryke and, while he would be at it, replace tubes on my Cannondale. To make a long story and very positive experience a little bit shorter, he arrived exactly as promised, performed the work in a highly satisfactory way and charged a fee that I found very fair and equitable. In summary, I am most happy to offer Savage Bicycles - and Tony in particular among his great colleagues at Savage Bicycles - my highest endorsement. If there is anything whatever you want or need in connection with bikes (or even trikes for that matter), you will find yourself well served by looking to Savage Bicycles as your first contact. Good luck I hope you guys do well and I wish my experience was better. You literally charged me 25 dollars to quote a rim build. After charging me 75$ to diagnose a bad hub and not even putting that toward the 250 dollar build. I was able to get the whole thing done for 150 elsewhere and the best part was I wasn't treated like I just kicked the shop managers dog. Unfortunately this bike shop just couldn't be decent. Almost twice the price of other shops in the valley and they charge as much as a Mercedes dealership by their hourly rate. Everything has a ridiculous markup. The guys who work in the back are awesome. Unfortunately the guys on top of the business must be doing really well because it doesn't seem like they want anymore of it. read more

Does it get better than this? Great service by knowledgeable and helpful bicycle experts. The Sales Manager (Adam) was not pushy, but his enthusiasm and knowledge led us to selecting the perfect equipment for our needs. After learning of our upcoming multi day 240 mile bike tour, Adam went on to share tips of where to park, how to prepare, etc. - specific and helpful tips showing his own love of the sport. We ordered our bikes and one was lost by UPS on the way to the store. UPS didn't call, and the manufacturer didn't contact me - but Savage Bikes did! They made sure we were informed every step of the way so we had the bike we wanted and ordered. This snafu had nothing to do with the shop but they were fantastic throughout. Don't waste your time - drive the extra 15min and find a shop worth spending $ at. Came in with a DIY project, that I admitted to them was totally screwed up...needed a new derailleur and shifters. The manager and tech checked me in as I explained the whole situation. The manager even put in a discount for my ticket since some of the single labor charges were duplicative with other items across the work order. After holding the bike for 2 days, I get a call that they won't work on the bike. When I go into the store and question the manager as to what changed between then, and when I checked in, he claimed "liability reasons". He also mentioned that his main tech was out that day and he had to work on the bike himself...to me as a customer, it looked like the manager was just lazy, and didn't want to work himself, thus the cop out. First experience was a phone call to them and the guy I spoke to was very nice, helpful and informative. :-) Second experience was phenomenal!! My kids and I stopped in and we received so much help. Savage Bicycles is not a customer oriented operation. I ride a Specialized Roll. It has over 3K miles on the original tire/tube. Recently, I got a flat front tire after I ran over something in the road. Took the wheel to Savage Bicycles for a new tube which they installed for $27. A week later the new tube was flat. I HAD NOT EVEN RIDDEN THE BIKE DURING THAT TIME. Took it back to them and they said the tube went flat because of a defect/problem inside the rim. They would not warranty the tube. How does that happen when the bike had not even been ridden? In over 3K miles of riding I had never had a problem with the original tire/tube until I ran over something. Bottom line, it cost me another $22 for a new tube and rim liner. They waived the install fee. While I was waiting, I saw an employee using a screwdriver to mount a tire on a very small bicycle rim which had just had a new tube installed. Although I didn't see him do it, I suspect that when the tech installed the new tube on my rim, he used a screwdriver and pinched the tube causing a small puncture. I've installed enough tubes to know that if you use a sharp tool to mount the tire on the rim, you will likely pinch the tube and puncture it. There is absolutely nothing about Savage Bicycles that I can recommend. To make things worse, the employees are not particularly friendly. I am a very dissatisfied customer and will never patronize that store again. If you need sales or service, go someplace else. Stay away from Savage Bicycles. read more

I had some issues with my jogging stroller they filled up the air at no charge and checked the valves, after I took the stroller home the tube was off center so it was bulging out of the side of the tire took it back and they fixed it for me and took the time to check all the tires before I left. I haven't ridden since late 2019/early 2020, my poor specialized road bike has been collecting dust and slowly decaying... after years of putting it off, I did a quick google search and found this shop. It was no biggie driving from Goodyear to come to these guys and I'm happy I did. I know when I pick my bike up on Wednesday afternoon, it'll be riding good as new. I visited Savage Bicycles on Friday afternoon, May 20th 2022 to see about having my front brake caliper replaced. After a few minutes of initial evaluation/inspection of the bike, an unnecessary trip back home (to retrieve the brake pads that I had forgotten to bring with me), and a completely overkill offer by one of the staff members to install hydraulic brakes. The part required was found to be in stock. My bike was handed over to Ed, who would do the caliper replacement as well as replacing the cable. Really upset with what happened to this store. Frequented buildabike often at their former location years ago and always had awesome service. Seems to have gone downhill. They charged me $160 to replace a derailleur, hanger, and cable then never actually replaced the cable and gave me an old derailleur. read more

I had a great experience at Build-A-Bike! They had the only 2021 Giant Fathom 29 1 in the state with my frame size according to Giant's site. I NEEDED the bike on a Saturday but could not get to the store till after they were already closed. Adam kept his store open 40 minutes after closing time for me and helped me size my ride, add pedals and water bottles, and taught me all about the new bike technology!
