I never do yelp reviews. HVAC service-wise, I really like GAC. Customer service-wise, I'm starting to sour. The 8 hour window is absolutely ridiculous. Although I've learned that I can call just before my appointment and get a more realistic one. The AI customer service bot is trying my nerves, though. It does seem to work, but really, how un-personal can you be? It would be one thing if it told you upfront, "hi, my name is Ally and I'm your AI customer service". At least you'd know what you were dealing with. When humans are involved, everything is top notch. If it weren't for the 8-hour window and AI bot, I'd give it 5 stars. read more

We just had a new HVAC installed by GAC's expert installation team. At all levels the crews at GAC were exemplary in their service and professionalism. The sales advisor did a great job of explaining the features of the various HVAC options to me, helping me compare intelligently and without sales pressure among several choices. The staff at GAC is very knowledgeable and experienced. Everyone who got involved with the work was excellent in both their skills and in communicating to me what needed to be done. I scheduled my Spring PM at least 2.5 months ago so I could get a chance to be the first call. They used to have 4 hour windows several years ago but now it is 8AM-5PM and will give me a 30 minutes call before the teclhnician arrives. Today I got earlier before 8AM in case I am the first call. By 3PM, I am still waiting. I got a call from the technician that he will arrive in 20 mins., so much for the 30 minutes advance call. Joel Hernandez finally arrived at 3:45Pm. He was very polite and pleasant and I really liked the job he did. He was thorough and explained everything to me. My problem is not with Joel but with GAC. The 8 hour window is ridiculous, inconvenient, and frustrating. I have been a customer since 2013. Bring back the 4 hour window so I am not restricted to be within 30 minutes from my house if I want to do some errands. Otherwise I have to look elsewhere for my HVAC and electrical needs. read more

Scheduled for a sales rep to come out and give an estimate on a new HVAC system. I didn't appreciate the vague window I was expected to be available - from 8 am -6 pm. I waited all morning and into the afternoon without hearing anything. I called around 4 pm and the call was answered by a machine that asked if I wanted to cancel the visit. I said NO. It then asked if I wanted a rep to give me a call back. I said YES, and the recording said someone would call in the next 24 hours. The day passed and no one showed up or called at all. This experience was pathetic and inconsiderate, of course I will not let them disappoint me again. My other estimates were on time and had people managing the phones rather then an A.I. machine. read more

I purchased this top of the line unit from GAC 3 years ago. I did not expect to be absolutely robbed by you on a warranty repair. Your estimate is out of line with reality. I would give zero stars if that were possible. Stay away from this company for HVAC servicing, as their technician lacks knowledge and skills. The thermostat of my two-year-old HVAC system suddenly went blank, so I decided to call GAC, as they installed our unit. The technician came the next day, performed a few tests, and determined that the transformer was the issue and needed to be replaced. After replacing it, the system still didn't work. The technician said it was too late to complete the repair at that time. He returned the following day to conduct more tests and mentioned that there was no power going to the thermostat. This time, he suggested that the problem might be with the control board. Given that our unit is only two years old and we take good care of it, I didn't believe that was the issue, so I pushed for further testing. After several hours of diagnosis, the technician confidently stated that the wiring between the control board and the thermostat was the culprit. He recommended that we have the GAC electrician team rewire it. I scheduled an appointment for the next day, and the electrician arrived but admitted that he wasn't familiar with the details of the job and hadn't brought the necessary wires. He returned the following day, and I asked if he could test the existing wires to confirm whether they were indeed faulty, as I didn't want to pay to fix something that wasn't broken. Unfortunately, he refused to do that, stating it wasn't part of their job to check the wires. After several hours and having to make a hole in the wall, a new wire was installed. However, they mentioned that they would need the HVAC department to come in and connect the wires. The HVAC technician returned and connected the new wire, but guess what? It still doesn't work! He performed a couple more diagnostics and discovered that one of the water safety switches had gone bad, which shorted the circuit and stopped power from reaching the thermostat. Interestingly, the number one reason for a blank thermostat when you search on Google is a faulty water safety switch! He mentioned that he tested the water safety switch before recommending the wire replacement. The unit is now functioning after needed to take four days out of my work and ~$2,000 in costs. If this is the extent of the problem, we are open to hiring a professional to resolve any issues. However, it seems the technician turned a $200 issue into a $2,000 problem. The overall process across all teams, including scheduling, is terrible; it feels like visiting a dishonest mechanic who advises unnecessary repairs to cheat you. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They are operating a bait and switch and Scamming customers. They were quick to come out and provide us an estimate, but when I went to schedule the appointment, it took me 3 weeks to talk to a person because their AI assistant likes to lies about operating hours and promises a call back (that never happens). Once I finally got an appointment to complete the work, they just never showed up after I called that morning to confirm the date and time (not even a phone call from them). That night, they finally called and said they needed to double the price of the service due to my condenser "Being more than 10 years old". I pulled the serial number from the unit and it's not even 10 years old yet. They are literally just trying to force customers to purchase an entire new HVAC system when they do not need one. THIS COMPANY IS WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS INDUSTRY. Fast forward two weeks, and I get a bill and a phone call from the accounting department asking how I would like to pay the bill?!?!?! They never did the work!!! I gave them multiple opportunities to make this right and complete the work and management refused to even call me back. I paid them $114 for a furnace diagnostic because there was no flame. The technician they sent quoted me $1,800 to replace a circuit board. I asked around to see if this price is fair. Most estimates for a circuit board replacement is $400 - $600. A notable comment I received was from a gentlemen who owns his own HVAC business in Texas, who says he can fly from Texas with the board, replace it in my home, fly back to Texas and still be profitable for $1,800. If you look at the quote provided, it has only one line item (ANALOG CONTROL CIRCUIT BOARD (Basic) = $1800. No breakdown of part price, estimated hours, etc. This company is predatory in the way they work, they probably think that the because we are in November and the cold is setting in, that we will just say yes to any price they set. I absolutely cannot fathom how they got any amount of good reviews. Edit: the "potential savings" is the 20% savings from signing up to their membership program (For the low cost of $349.00 a year). To be charged 300% of fair market price, for them to graciously knock off 20%. read more

Don't believe the "no surprise" guarantee. After the work began they "discovered" the need for an electrician despite the fuse box specifically stating the issue they said was unforeseen. Water release area was not properly sealed (at all), so we had to bring someone back to fix and clean up floor full of water. Failed inspection because the wrong size pipe was used and was not level. They tried to blame the installer (even though the pipe in question was recently dated and the installation occurred more than a decade ago). Repeated suggestions/threats that we would be charged more to address the above issues. Damaged part of our property while trying to identify where a cutoff switch was and left damaged parts amidst our garden plants. read more

If I could give this company zero stars, I would. We had a brand-new HVAC unit installed in May, and the installation was done incorrectly from day one. The unit leaked through the drywall, causing damage to our home. After numerous appointments, repairs, and wasted time, the system finally seemed to be working--until heat season arrived. When we turned the heat on, the system worked for exactly five days before the blower stopped shutting off. What followed has been nothing less than a complete nightmare. Despite multiple phone calls, the company showed no urgency whatsoever in addressing the situation. We waited days for service because they simply couldn't "fit us in," even though this was clearly an issue directly tied to their faulty installation. Several technicians came out, multiple "fixes" were attempted, and new parts were ordered and installed. The system worked again--for five days--before breaking down yet again. Each time, I contacted the customer service line only to be met with complete indifference. No urgency. No follow-through. And trying to escalate to a supervisor? Nearly impossible. Calls were promised, and none were returned. After the most recent visit, another new part was ordered. While I understand the company cannot control manufacturer delays, what they can control is communication and customer service--which they have utterly failed to provide. Today, I called again for an update, was told I'd receive a return call, waited hours, and heard nothing. When I called back, I was given the exact same information I received a week ago. I asked again for a supervisor to contact me. No one ever called. This is the lowest form of customer service I have ever experienced. It is painfully obvious that, because this job is now under warranty and they aren't making additional money from it, my issue is no longer a priority to them. We paid thousands of dollars for a new system and have now been without functional heat for over a month. Completely unacceptable. Save yourself the frustration, the time, and the money. I had a really frustrating experience with this company and feel compelled to warn others. I called them out to inspect an electrical issue in my home. The electrician who arrived didn't inspire much confidence from the start. When I explained that a light wasn't working despite changing the bulb, he suggested it was still just a bad bulb -- even though it clearly wasn't. Then he tapped on the switch, and the light flickered... pretty clear evidence of a loose wire (which is what I said from the beginning). Yet he didn't seem interested in actually diagnosing or fixing it. When I asked him to inspect a light fixture above the stairs -- the main reason I scheduled the visit -- he said he came unprepared to work above stairs and didn't have a ladder for stairs. I told him I had one he could use. We walked to the garage, and then he drops the bomb on me that it will be $330 for two hours of work just to inspect the fixture. No thank you. I said that was too much, and he quickly pivoted to saying he had to charge $130 just for coming to the house. Later, I looked through all my communications from the company and at no point before the visit was I told there would be a $130 charge just to show up. No service was performed. Nothing was fixed. And yet I was out $130 just for walking someone through my house and hearing bad advice. I understand people have policies, but this felt like a setup from the beginning. Unclear pricing, no real inspection, and zero value delivered. I won't be using them again, and I recommend you look elsewhere too. read more

Now I just got a letter in the mail saying I owe $143 and it's 121 days late. If they had ever called or told me I owed them money I would have paid right away. Technicians are knowledgeable and do a good job. The issue is the extremely poor customer service. There is no management that are available to speak to as they hide behind their AI Bots and human staff if you are lucky enough to speak to one. They never ever come out on the timeframe that is provided you and, as the customer we have to continually call to see if they are, in fact, going to show up, always have to communicate with the Bot first. Every a/c company, including GAC, install the same type products but really search for a company that provides service calls and follow ups. This company fails there. They were also sold to a bigger corporation and that has affected service. Please do your research. read more

Dealing with this company has become the greatest customer service nightmare of my life. The new AC we purchased broke down on the first hot day of the season, two months after the purchase. When we attempted to get it serviced, the technician serviced the wrong unit. We clearly explained that the upstairs unit that we had purchased from them was having issues - our downstairs unit was older and we hadn't bought it from them, and it was cooling normally. After we pointed out the problem, we were told that only a manager could do anything about this, but no managers were ever available. We left messages that went unreturned. We spent upwards of 40 minutes on hold. Most of the time when you call, you get AI Agent Anna; she hung up on us multiple times. We would have to keep calling again and again to get a human, but even the human representatives couldn't help and only offered to take a message for a manager. We chose this company because it was well regarded and well reviewed and we did not want to take a chance on something as important as our AC system. We cannot believe the treatment we are receiving from them. read more

I scheduled a water heater repair for my rental property because it seemed like an electrical issue was causing the breaker to trip. Since the water heater is only 7 years old, I preferred to repair it rather than replace it. I was charged $114 for the service. However, the technician didn't communicate anything to my tenant during the visit, and I haven't received any updates from GAC either. The only thing I got was a shockingly high estimate--over $4,000--for a full replacement. There was no explanation of what part actually failed or whether a repair is even possible or worthwhile. It feels like all I paid for was a very expensive estimate, without receiving any real information or service in return. Overall, this has been a very disappointing experience. read more

When your heater goes out in the middle of winter, an emergency appointment isn't a joke. The first place I called didn't have any appointments open for 3 1/3 weeks (!). I found GAC on Yelp and i called. They sent someone that day, and found that our system wasn't just old and broken, it wasn't even the right unit and size for the space. Their estimator was there the next day and as part of the estimate, took COMPLETE measurements of the space; where every pipe and duct fed into the closet. Our new unit was ordered and their machine shop customized each fitting so that when it was installed, it would fit perfectly. Our old unit was taken out and our new one installed with efficiency, courtesy, and professionalism. If anything needs to be repaired, I'd call them again in a heartbeat. read more

I decided to wait until the estimate arrived. 11 days later, still nothing, even after I emailed the person who visited directly. We called GAC for an issue with poor drainage from our washing machine sink. GAC's assessment was that we needed to excavate (involving digging underground of our house) to the tune of a $6,000+ price estimate (with no guarantee that this work would resolve the issue.) Thankfully, we solicited a 2nd opinion before proceeding. The 2nd vendor indicated that the issue required a simple snaking of the drain at a cost of less than $300. The 2nd vendor completed the work in less than 15 minutes and we have had no problems since the work was completed. Completely satisfied. While GAC has provided satisfactory service for us previously, I definitely encourage all consumers to solicit 2nd opinions, especially for projects estimated at $1,000+. read more

They provided multiple quotes for different levels of repair options and a detailed write up that was very helpful. They also followed up after the inspection to see if there was anything else they could do. GAC provides the HVAC maintenance for my townhouse. They had installed the HVAC system and thermostat a year or two before I bought the place. So, their HVAC team has always been great with inspections and service. Today, I had an electrical issue. I called and spoke to Lisa at their office and she was super nice and helpful. She was able to find an electrician on call that could squeeze me in. Bruce Moore at GAC is my new favorite electrician! I didn't expect Bruce until later in the day but he was nearby and called and said he could come take care of my issue. He was already able to test my outdoor outlets while waiting for me to return home to meet up with him. He walked through the interior issues with me and showed me what was happening and made his recommendations on what to do to fix everything for the day. He was able to replace the exterior outlet to make sure they were up to code and that the GFI outlet panel was secure. We also talked about a surge protector for the whole house that I had gotten a quote for a few months ago. I asked if he had time for that and he did! So, he was able to install the surge protector. The best thing is that he took the time to explain that it wasn't just stormy weather or the electric company that could cause a surge. Often times, with older large appliances, they could take more to turn on and could cause a spike as well. Bruce was professional, informative and thoughtful. He wore booties and mask throughout my house. He cleaned up everything afterwards. He also made sure I knew what was new in the breaker panel and noted the changes he made. It's unfortunate that I must write this review. We got a Heavy-Up and EV charger installed back in June 2024. It seems as though they brought out some trainees as they drilled multiple holes into my house trying to find a route for the wire. One of those holes they drilled, was right into the master bedroom. As a result, they had to "patch" up multiple holes when they could have just drilled out from inside of the attic. On top of that, this required an upgrade of amps from pepco which they were suppose to schedule. I don't think they actually scheduled it bc we waited a month before I decided to call Pepco myself to upgrade the Amps to our house. I was tired of having to shut off different sections of the house to safely charge the car. And then, they have yet to complete the job despite paying 100% of the invoice. They still need to remove the old wiring. It is now February 2025, and it is still not complete. After multiple follow-ups, Alex has yet to provide any meaningful updates on when they will come out to complete the work. read more

*Updated* I was charged over $600 for the tech to simply replace a kitchen faucet, which I had already bought and had all the parts for, so that price was just for labor. The tech was here for less than an hour and it was a simple installation, so $600 seems very high to me. The invoice had no details of what went into that charge, it just says "install customer provided faucet and remove existing faucet." To add insult to injury, the tech also said I had a leak under my sink and that me garbage disposal needed to be replaced- which would be an additional $800. Thankfully, I got a second opinion from another plumber and he found no leak and said my garbage disposal was fine and did not need to be replaced. I have tried calling customer service numerous times and have received no response. I would not recommend GAC Services to anyone and I will never use them again! read more

GAC installed my system 12 years ago. The installation, service and support was very good for several years after that. I referred them to several new customers. Recently, things have been not going as well. My warranty ran out after 10 years and subsequently, I had a Puron leak. When I had them quote costs, they quoted $200/lb for the refrigerant. Other folks were at $125. The firm I went with gave me a bulk discount (I needed over 10 lbs), so I paid $58. Called and requested a AC tune up. Tune up was performed but tech came back stating two parts were going bad and quoted me a price of 1100 to fix. The part cost 20 bucks and can be replaced by anyone in less than 20 minutes. Honestly that is way over priced and seems like they were trying to take advantage of the situation. read more

Came to fix my AC unit and said we needed a new part. We paid up front to order the part and the repair. The part was supposed to arrived 2 weeks ago! Have continued calling them to find out when they would be coming to replace the part and they can't tell us when the part will arrive. Can only speak to the receptionist they will not transfer us to the parts department. Have called and asked for a supervisor multiple times and always told they will call us back. 3 times this has happened with no call back.
