I really used to like this place and came frequently. They must have new owners, new staff that make the food or they've just become extremely cheap. Came in the other day for a Cajun chicken sandwich on a ciabatta bun. What an absolute joke! There was barely anything on the sandwich and what was there was mostly vegetables. Literally had a few bits of chicken and then a bunch of peppers and onions. The Cajun sauce had no Cajun flavor and no spice, so it was pretty much tasteless! Every bite for the most part was bread, Some red or green pepper and flavorless sauce. If you're gonna charge $17 for a sandwich... Give a reasonable sized sandwich! I can't really say that the food here is anything great but overall this is a great spot. I've had everything here from sandwiches to wraps to salads to breakfast and it's all decent. I've never been disappointed but I've never been impressed. I do however come here extremely often as it's by far the best spot in the neighborhood to get some work done while having some food. The café is huge which is a rarity so there's plenty of table space and while the food is nothing spectacular it does the job for sure and is always good. They ended up charging us extra to fix a drink that they made poorly. Most places just say no problem, but they seemed personally offended we didn't like one of the two drinks they made. I've been walking by this place for months and finally decided to stop in for breakfast. Overall, it wasn't great but not bad. I got a bacon egg and cheese on a bagel - they only had turkey bacon so I had to get that even though I prefer pork bacon. We also got the french toast which was good but nothing special. The fruit on the side tasted like it was a little old. Food was definitely overpriced - we paid $35 for a drink, a sandwich, and a breakfast item. But, I liked my iced vanilla latte a lot. I got a medium and I think it was a good value for the price. When we ordered at the counter, we both felt like the girl had a bit of an attitude and seemed annoyed that we took a few minutes to look at the menu and were asking questions about the food. Tables had crumbs on it, and the floor had a lot of trash on it and a bunch of flies inside that u kept having to seat away. Gotham Cafe is cozy local cafe not only to grab a bite to eat, but also get some work done without too much noise. My favorite place to sit is near the window where there is an outlet nearby. It's cool how you can either take your food to go, or you can have it delivered to your table with your number. A quasi takeout/sitdown place further contributes to the relaxed atmosphere, which initially attracted me to the cafe. I usually get an iced coffee with oatmilk and an egg salad sandwhich. While the food is good, it can be a bit pricey! Overall, Gotham Cafe is a neighborhood favorite and I'm looking forward to coming here more in the future. :) read more

Back when I used to live around the corner, I scoured this neighborhood from top to bottom looking for cafes with seating. One of the key categories missing from this neck of the woods is somewhere with guaranteed seating, lightning-fast WiFi, and tasty pastries. Well, Gotham boasts the seating part. I've never had to wait for a table to open up, even on the busiest of Sunday mornings. WiFi is a little on the fritz: you have to toggle it on and off a few times. Let's talk about the food. Everything has been uniformly served on the cold side, temperature-wise. Maybe it's an issue with staffing, such that food gets left out and forgotten for a few minutes before being brought to the table. And I suppose it's a good thing I've never had to choke back a scalding mouthful of soup but, particularly in the winter time, food served piping hot should be the standard. The pressed paninis are quite small - I don't have the biggest appetite in the world but I scarfed mine down and could have easily fit in another. Besides, paninis are like half of a real sandwich anyway. I do like their breakfast offerings. Their egg, Swiss, and tomato on a toasted everything bagel is a thing of simple beauty. Don't miss their croissant sandwiches, though I would ask them to leave the croissant in the toaster for a few extra seconds. As for the service, all my interactions have been pleasant, even bordering on friendly, though I will say that everyone, from the smoothie operator to the sandwich-maker, looks perpetually confused. read more
