    Gentlemen's chest!
    Elyse S.

I am really happy with my bedroom furniture. Clean lines, plenty of space in drawers. I made the right choice and I don't always get it right. I plan on buying my sister a similar bedroom.

The first color of the bedroom chest. Strong wood that lasts forever. 04/26/22

Gothic Cabinet Craft is the first place my family purchased furniture when we moved to Manhattan. The armoire was left behind during the last move to my daughters current apartment. The six drawer bedroom chest went through a few changes in color but it is still in daily use since 1997. The furniture is basic wood that lasts with care. You can have them paint it or do it yourself. When we ordered it was to furnish my daughters first apartment after college. They delivered everything without a problem. My daughter had a nightstand too. That was another item she left on the curb when she moved. There wasn't anything wrong with it, her taste changed. Basically the six drawer bedroom chest is a necessity. She knows not to get rid of it. Since I paid to furnish her first apartment I'm sure I would find a place for it. I'm a fan of Gothic and would definitely purchase from them again if the need arises.

Built-in book shelf with radiator cover made by Gothic Cabinets team
    Debraj G.

Commissioned built-in bookshelves and radiator covers from Gothic Cabinet. Entire experience was excellent -- from their site lead for the upper west side location, Tony Stakis, paying us a quick, efficient, instructive visit to understand our need and cut to the chase on a good no nonsense design that met our needs and aesthetics. To working with us patiently despite delays from our side to provide a couple of custom parts (a crown molding to match some work underway at home at the time, and a pair of library lights), to a flawless experience with their team returning to do a pre install site visit and finally the installation itself. Well planned, professional, and tight clean up after. All for the most competitive pricing we found after some comparison across town.

    Gothic custom-built desk for bedroom.

We commissioned a desk for the bedroom. We wanted it to look like the TV display built-in in another room, made by someone else, now retired. Tony drew up terrific specs based on our requirements and his crew constructed a terrific piece of furniture for us built to exacting standards. We provided a paint strip and we are delighted with the results - so much so, that we ate part of our dinner in front of it, just so we could enjoy the latest addition to our home. His installers were terrific, too. Courteous, clean, professional. This was our first encounter with Gothic and we will recommend them to anyone who asks. These units can take a long time to build, so be patient. The quality of the finished product is the most important priority for us.

I wish I could give 41/2 stars as this was almost a perfect experience. The cabinet is absolutely gorgeous. It is quite unique and completely custom made for the space and my needs. (see pics) Tony did an excellent job of designing for our space. It was measured very accurately and looks like it came with the room. The pull-outs are really cool and with several command hooks (which we planned with Gothic) I was able to really take advantage of the space. The cubbies on the right were a great addition and I seem to have a place for everything. It was beautifully painted... not too glossy ...just right. Very happy with the pewter hardware. The whole unit just looks beautiful and classy. The installation was remarkable. The workmen were not only efficient and responsive to my questions but I have never seen such a clean install. They had a vacuum with them and other cleaning supplies and covered the room (my bed etc) so that afterwards there was NO cleanup for me to do. I was really impressed!! So the 1/2 star for the following: Took almost 3 months to get it instead of 2 as promised. But we did order around the holidays! There were two missing knobs and two missing small shelves and they forgot the closet rods. But... the installers went out and bought really good heavy duty rods same day and installed them. And the other missing items were delivered and installed 10 days later. So all in all an excellent experience and we are already planning to buy another item this week. A beautiful table and two chairs!

    Custom Wall Unit

I drew up a basic sketch for a custom wall unit for our bedroom. The space is slightly irregular and I wanted to maximize it by using every inch of wall versus putting up a standard prebuilt unit and having empty, unused space. I had a custom desk made by Gothic years ago that was terrific so I went into the Upper West Side location and met with Aris. He was great and understood our needs. He has lots of experience in wonky NYC apartments. He came over the next week and measured the space and made great suggestions for how to make the unit more functional, and attractive (finishes, doors, eliminating hardware to make the look sleek (e.g. hidden door and drawer pulls)). While the unit was more than a prebuilt would have cost, it was worth it for the beautiful design (lots of drawers, adjustable and fixed shelves, clothing rods), much higher quality and use of every inch of the wall. Plus they put trim pieces in so there are no gaps - it fits in the space like a dream! The staff who installed it were professional and courteous and left my place spotless. The items arrived wrapped in cardboard so no need for elevator pads. A great experience in every way!

    Radiator cover with storage

Gothic Cabinet built us beautiful custom radiator / AC covers for our apartment. We worked with Tony and he exceeded our expectations for delivering high quality covers with a lot of built in storage. They were even able to build around our existing metal radiator/ AC cover frame since we couldn't get those removed. It took about 5 months from start to finish, but we had been warned about the timing when we started the project so that wasn't a surprise. We truly could t be happier with the exceptional work and customer service from Gothic.

Recently, Gothic Cabinet installed two bookcase/cabinets in our Manhattan apartment. The cabinets were sorely needed to provide organization and storage. While the pandemic required a delay in installation, it was well worth the wait. As with any construction project, the customer has needs and wishes. In the case with our project, functionality and storage were at the top of the list. When we met Aris Voulamandis, Gothic representative at the upper Broadway store, the first impression was "this guy knows what he's doing." Aris interpretation of our ideas were executed into meticulous drawings for our approval before the project was assigned to the factory. Only Excellent can be said of Pablo and his co-worker who installed our cabinetry. Both installers were on-time with the delivery and made sure the installation was correct before leaving. As for completion, the installers inspected their work, cleaned and vacuumed leaving nothing our of order. We are very pleased with the design, construction and meticulous care in the installation from Gothic. Hats-off to Ari Voulamandis for refining our original design requests and managing our project and to the installers for their professional and meticulous installation.

I contacted customer service and sent photos to which they responded, "It must be moisture, that's why it's rusting." My guests, who are not frequent, put their shoes in the cubbyhole. They certainly do NOT put soaking WET shoes for days in the SAME CUBBYHOLE to make it rust this way. Otherwise, this is where I store my cookbooks. They offered me an outsourced furniture service to 'fix' the issue AT MY COST. The fact that they won't listen to me, or admit this is a faulty piece of furniture, and help me replace it is mind-boggling. For over $700 and Less than a YEAR in my home, NOT EXPOSED CONSTANTLY to WET SHOES makes ZERO sense why this is happening. And instead of being of assistance to keep me as a customer who has spent over $3.5k at this store, it is just sad and VERY BAD service. One would have to keep a wet rag in place for this to have happened in this amount of time.

I've been increasingly desperately in need of replacing my ~20-year old silverware that I think I purchased from a Bed Bath & Beyond for maybe $20. As it turns out, there's a pretty massive range of cutlery sets on the market, and I felt inclined to see and touch several options before making a purchase, especially if I'm going to drop substantially more than $20 on a replacement. This Crate & Barrel definitely doesn't lack for choice, but my transaction wasn't nearly as simple as picking out a box of new forks and knives. On my first visit, I narrowed down my selection based on aesthetics and material. I learned that I don't love textured metals, and I mildly prefer satin finishes over mirrored ones. I also discovered how massive a range in pricing there is between entry level cutlery and the high end brands. After reading several online reviews, I also determined that I wanted to purchase 18/10 steel for its durability. After all that, I'd figured out that C&B's Aero line (which seems to be a rebranded Cutipol product) might fit the bill, but I wasn't thrilled about the two-tone version they had on display. According to their website, they carry an all-metal version in store, and one of the employees was able to confirm it was in stock in the backroom, however, I had somewhere else to rush off to and decided to come back another time. On my second visit, I bee-lined it to the silverware section and waited to hunt down an employee who could help me obtain a set of the all-metal Aero cutlery. 10-15 minutes later, I finally got to handle a sample. This shit isn't cheap. I wasn't quite prepared to drop several hundred bucks on new silverware, but the store associate came up with the most brilliant idea: after confirming that there was no discount for purchasing multiple sets at once, she suggested I just buy one set to try out for awhile. That way, if I hated it, I wouldn't be out the full shebang. Genius, truly. Several weeks later, generally satisfied with the tester set, I returned for an additional three to round out my cutlery collection. It's a good thing I waited, too, because somewhere during the intervening time, they went on holiday sale for 20% off. My frugal inner Asian granny delights in a discount! Again, I had to wait around for a (harried) store employee to use their magical mobile app powers to summon a minion from the backroom for the ever-elusive non-displayed silverware and was -- eventually -- rewarded for my patience with a trio of shiny (more affordable!) utensil sets! All told, C&B offers a wide range of products. If what you're seeking isn't on display, there's a non-zero chance they might have more hidden away behind the scenes, so ask for help. And before arrival, be sure to gird your loins for a wait, because I've yet to encounter a scenario where there's an overabundance of staff standing around ready to assist.

He from the beginning was impatient in answering our questions about items and was showing attitude for no good reason. When we asked him to cancel, rather than cancelling the order, he made a duplicate order without notifying us. Our card was charged twice without our approval for the duplicate order. He, after making the duplicate order, told us that we should come back and return the duplicate item when it arrives to get back our money. We were surprised that our card was charged twice without our approval although we were standing in front of him when he was putting in the order. We asked him to cancel both orders as we did not want to come back to return the duplicate item. At that point he became even more rude and was extremely unhelpful. He said the store manager was not around to resolve this dispute, although it seemed he was the store manager. He didn't seem to care that he lost a customer who was ready to buy goods above $3000. This staff should be held responsible for not only losing a customer forever for Rejuvenation and ruining William Sonoma's reputation but also because he was non-transparent to the customer and charged their card for a duplicate item without their approval.
