Crate and Barrel was one of the many stores I looked for a chair. Before I decided to squeeze a chair in my small studio I sat up in my bed to watch TV. Because my furniture is white and my mother's favorite color was teal blue I fell in love with this expensive chair. At the time I didn't realizes I had an allergy to down. The cushions are down filled. I was miserable. I've had the chair 11 years. It's hard on my butt and just plain uncomfortable. Although I love Crate and Barrel I won't buy furniture here at this time. I'm still recommending if you can afford but don't purchase using my criteria! My mother didn't have to sit on this chair in her old age! read more

Great location. Pretty housewares, merchandised beautifully. Based on my limited experience (I've stopped in ~3 times over the past quarter), getting things done around here requires interacting with the (seemingly capable) store staff, but there are too many shoppers and insufficient employees on the floor to help. I've been increasingly desperately in need of replacing my ~20-year old silverware that I think I purchased from a Bed Bath & Beyond for maybe $20. As it turns out, there's a pretty massive range of cutlery sets on the market, and I felt inclined to see and touch several options before making a purchase, especially if I'm going to drop substantially more than $20 on a replacement. This Crate & Barrel definitely doesn't lack for choice, but my transaction wasn't nearly as simple as picking out a box of new forks and knives. On my first visit, I narrowed down my selection based on aesthetics and material. I learned that I don't love textured metals, and I mildly prefer satin finishes over mirrored ones. I also discovered how massive a range in pricing there is between entry level cutlery and the high end brands. After reading several online reviews, I also determined that I wanted to purchase 18/10 steel for its durability. After all that, I'd figured out that C&B's Aero line (which seems to be a rebranded Cutipol product) might fit the bill, but I wasn't thrilled about the two-tone version they had on display. According to their website, they carry an all-metal version in store, and one of the employees was able to confirm it was in stock in the backroom, however, I had somewhere else to rush off to and decided to come back another time. On my second visit, I bee-lined it to the silverware section and waited to hunt down an employee who could help me obtain a set of the all-metal Aero cutlery. 10-15 minutes later, I finally got to handle a sample. This shit isn't cheap. I wasn't quite prepared to drop several hundred bucks on new silverware, but the store associate came up with the most brilliant idea: after confirming that there was no discount for purchasing multiple sets at once, she suggested I just buy one set to try out for awhile. That way, if I hated it, I wouldn't be out the full shebang. Genius, truly. Several weeks later, generally satisfied with the tester set, I returned for an additional three to round out my cutlery collection. It's a good thing I waited, too, because somewhere during the intervening time, they went on holiday sale for 20% off. My frugal inner Asian granny delights in a discount! Again, I had to wait around for a (harried) store employee to use their magical mobile app powers to summon a minion from the backroom for the ever-elusive non-displayed silverware and was -- eventually -- rewarded for my patience with a trio of shiny (more affordable!) utensil sets! All told, C&B offers a wide range of products. If what you're seeking isn't on display, there's a non-zero chance they might have more hidden away behind the scenes, so ask for help. And before arrival, be sure to gird your loins for a wait, because I've yet to encounter a scenario where there's an overabundance of staff standing around ready to assist. read more

I previously bought one bathroom light-fixture and by mistake I received a full box with 6 fixtures. Since I had only paid for one, I called the store and told them about this issue. The person on the phone told me to return the extra 5 items and to compensate for my effort and for them to get the 5 items back (worth around $1000), Crate and Barrel would issue me a 20% coupon to be used on a future purchase. I now wanted to buy an espresso machine and tried to use the 20% coupon code but I wasn't able to use it since the machine was on sale. I find this to be unfair since the coupon was not given to me as a promotion (and I understand that a promotion coupon might not be able to be used towards a sale item) but this code was given to me because I saved them about $1000 and at the time no one said that it was not valid on sale items. read more

The 881 Broadway store is the main Crate & Barrel shop in NYC. The location encompasses prime real estate in the fashionable Flatiron area. The lofty wide open space is rather impressive with large tasteful displays of seasonal offerings. Much of the sales staff that I interacted with were extremely helpful, and eager to offer advice. I have never had an issue seeking assistance. In my experience, Crate & Barrel is a good brand with much to offer. A bit on the high price spectrum but one can always find a great bargain in the big city if you strategize. Holiday sales are very good with discounts. I was in need of Glencairn whiskey glasses, so I visited Crate and Barrel. I walked thru the door and felt as if I were in some wealthy suberb far from NYC. The store is beautiful, and very neatly kept. I found my items right away, and proceeded to the checkout. The store associates were most helpful, and I was in and out in five minutes. This is a beautiful Crate & Barrel and a great addition to Broadway. It spans 2 floors and has a huge selection of furniture, home goods, and a Crate & Kids section downstairs. We've been on the hunt for a new console for our living room and I came in to see a specific burl wood console I had admired online. To my surprise, it was literally one of the first pieces of furniture I saw when I walked in. There are those times you just need a little discount to get you over the hill, so I figured.... Why not ask. I asked one of the associates if she knew of any sales coming up or promotions I could look out for. It just so happened, she asked if we had recently moved (we had, 6mo prior) so she was able to provide me with a one time 15% new mover discount. Sometimes, you just need to ask! I'll start by saying this is an absolutely beautiful Crate & Barrel store. Two stories. Wonderfully laid out. Truly a location that you can easily spend time and run up a nice-sized bill. The employees are lovely to work with. However, that's where any good I have to say ends. Nice conversations do not translate to results. I have NEVER been met with such ineptitude. My family made several purchases from this location between 8/21/2025 and 8/23/2025. Every single order was either wrong OR damaged. Items we were told were shipped were never actually shipped. At the end of each follow-up phone call, we were told we'd get digital email receipts that never arrived, even after multiple follow-up calls requesting these receipts. The store Manager who spoke to me once (she happened to pick up the phone the second time I called) would never get on the phone again, nor see me in person when I showed back up at the store. It's a shame. We're in the process of decorating a new home for a family member and Crate & Barrel is in the neighborhood. Heck, I'm getting ready to decorate a new home next year and would love to feel like this was a company I could order from. That is not to be. read more

Came here looking for furniture, and a lot of stuffs piqued my interest. This is definitely different than other furniture stores that i visited before: Ashley, Bob Discount, West Elm, etc. There was a couch that I felt very comfortable and I almost fell asleep in there. 4 stars for the set up they had. I was going around trying out sofas since I want something comfy in the home office. This store has a decent amount of sofa sets downstairs available to sit on. I basically tried every single one almost and practically everything was comfy. Perhaps a lil too much. Some were really low so that wasn't good for what I wanted. I do have a queen bed that was purchased from CB but we upgraded two years ago. It's still in pretty good condition so some of pieces can last for 10+ years easily but sofas are difficult to buy since we all sit on the fabric. I don't want things to start pilling. Feathers coming out.. Regardless I liked how they let ppl just try everything out and not harass them constantly. read more

Try it out by sitting on a comfy couch and take pictures of it and order it online or in the store if you can find a salesperson. Well its be 7 months and we still do not have everything that was "in stock". They also delivered the wrong pieces for a bed that still has not been rectified. It is an absolute joke dealing with these people. They subcontract out their shipping and there is no communication between Crate and Barrel and FragilePak who they use. I had a very disappointing experience at the Crate & Barrel Flatiron location that I feel needs to be shared. I came in to make a return on behalf of a high-end residential design firm. I had 6-8 very heavy bags filled with dishware that I had to carry in myself. Not a single associate offered to help me bring anything inside. It was especially frustrating because I'm confident that if I had been purchasing these items, assistance would have been offered without hesitation. When I finally brought in the last bag, the store manager, Ryan, very rudely informed me that I could not make the return because I did not have the physical credit card used for the purchase. His tone was dry and dismissive, and he offered no alternative solutions or next steps--just a flat refusal. The lack of empathy, customer service, and basic courtesy was shocking, especially given how much business we regularly do with Crate & Barrel for smaller projects. I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was so upsetting that I ended up crying in the store. I felt ignored, dismissed, and like my time and effort didn't matter at all. This was not the level of service I expect from a brand we have supported for years, and I truly hope management takes this feedback seriously. read more

I thought I was going crazy two months ago.. I was in Flatiron to meet a friend and was on my way to Daily Provisions and passed Crate and Barrel. I did a double take.. didn't go in.. Today, before we caught a movie at AMC across the street, we stopped in. One word: WOW! I did another double take and said to Alisa, they took over the ABC home store that sold only rugs at this space. Let me just say this.. I could practically live in this store! I'm a huge fan and have been for years. I've moved 3x in my life and all my furniture comes from Crate. The store is beautifully merchandised, the lay out is logical: main floor houses appliances, gadgets, glassware, tableware, etc. The lower level houses bedding, pillows, rugs, furniture and is accessible via stairs or this massive elevator. Folks, my mouth was in the dropped position the whole time! I needed a new citrus juicer and also picked up a beautiful rattan fruit basket. George assisted me at check out and my mouth dropped again when I told him I'm always at the Soho location. That location closed last November.. I was stunned. That location served me through two apartments!! I'm stunned and sad. Well, we know the saying " When one door closes another opens". Bravo and congrats Crate and Barrel on this gorgeous store! I bought rug and after weeks, near the scheduled delivery date, I received a text saying that rug was no longer in stock. So I asked that they honor the price I paid for the larger available size (I intended to cut it down to the size I ordered). They conceded nothing. I spoke with with a supervisor in customer service during the day (at night the woman just hangs the phone up) and she wouldn't budge a cent. Not because they don't want to or that they don't have enough staff but because it seems everyone loves C&B. Once you are helped you get one on one attention from people who know the ends and outs of the products they're selling. I always have nostalgia about Crate and Barrel and shopping there with my late mother who grew up in the Chicago suburbs. This store is always fun to visit. They have a great selection of merchandise and the staff is helpful and friendly. I was eyeing a trivet on their website but it was nice to look at it in the store and choose it. Sometimes photos don't really give a sense of the physicality of an object so this was nice. I ended up buying the chic marble and wood trivet and it looks amazing on my dining table. The furniture section downstairs is also impressive and it's nice to try out the items because I'm particular about having very firm couches and chairs. On my most recent visit I was a little too hurried to give the furniture a good look but I will definitely be coming back. Vacating their SoHo location has left a "gap" in the old neighborhood, but wow!, This is a great space. Directly across from ABC Carpet and home (who has recently scaled back their square footage) this is 2 levels and is wide open. Seems like they use space efficiently, displaying dining chairs in a wall hanging display. The staff is friendly and readily available throughout the store. It's nice to pop in here just to take a break from your walk in the neighborhood. I've still yet to explore the downstairs, but I'll return soon. read more

I recently made my first purchase of furniture and home accessories from Crate & Barrel, and unfortunately, I encountered multiple issues throughout the process. 1. Delivery Issues I requested that my items not be delivered before my move-in date, but two of them were shipped much earlier than expected. This caused unnecessary stress. In the end, one item was delivered, and my apartment management kindly held onto it for me, while the other had to be returned for a refund. Since I originally purchased with a 15% first-time discount, repurchasing the item would cost more, which is disappointing. 2. COI (Certificate of Insurance) Problems My apartment management required the COI to be submitted at least 48 hours in advance, but Crate & Barrel initially planned to send it just one day before delivery. I emailed my sales representative to request an earlier submission, but I never received a response. Two days later, I sent a follow-up email and received an out-of-office auto-reply stating that they would be unavailable for a week. It was frustrating to realize that they had knowingly ignored my email before leaving. I then contacted the alternative contact listed in the auto-reply, but they also did not respond. Since I was getting nowhere via email, I called customer service, but due to high call volumes, I had to leave a voicemail--and never received a callback. Eventually, I reached out via online chat, and they assured me that the COI would be submitted more than 72 hours before the delivery. However, around the same time, the alternative contact from my sales representative finally emailed me. I responded immediately, only to receive another out-of-office auto-reply, meaning they had ignored my message until they left as well. Despite the online chat agent's promise, the COI was still not submitted by the 72-hour mark. When I contacted chat support again, they claimed the COI had already been approved and sent to my management company. However, when I checked with the management, they had not received it. I contacted chat support again, and a different agent informed me that the COI process had not even started yet and would take another 24 hours. This meant that both the previous agents had lied. At this point, I no longer trusted the chat support team, so I called customer service again. A different agent confirmed that the COI process was only just beginning and would take another day. When I finally received the COI, the address was incorrect, but fortunately, they corrected it quickly. 3. Lost Package Incident One of my items, a comforter, was marked as delivered by FedEx, but my apartment management never received it. When I contacted Crate & Barrel about this, they told me they would send a replacement only if I provided a copy of a police report. To obtain the report, I would need to visit the police station in person on a weekday, and processing would take up to 72 hours. This meant I wouldn't have a proper comforter for over a week. Thankfully, a kind friend gave me a blanket in the meantime. My friend was shocked that Crate & Barrel required a police report for a lost package and suggested I mention it in my review. I do understand that companies need to prevent fraudulent claims, but since my apartment management confirmed they never received the package, I wish they had handled the situation with more flexibility. I still have pending deliveries and need to submit the police report, so if more issues arise, I will update this review. read more

Buyer Beware: Crate and Barrel disregards their obligation to customers. Once a sale is made, you are on your own. It took me months to get the glass top table I had ordered and only came through once I complained to the Better Business Bureau, which I'll do again. The glass top table I bought has an internal crack in one corner that only just happened after two years. They take no responsibility for the problem. They started out by asking me to send them a picture. I don't know why they bothered because their stock answer was "It's more than 2 years so too bad." Well it was one month over two years but you don't expect your furniture to have to be replaced every two years!! They don't stand behind their stuff!! read more
