My 4yr old Specialized Cirrus X 5.0 needed a new chain after a ride. Jeremy saw that the chain had a fractured link that was borderline - about to give away. He replaced with a new Shimano chain and master link on the spot. I was prepared to either come back or leave it, but he took a few minutes to do the work and test ride. I went to location to pick up a bike I ordered. From the moment I walked in, staff was standoff-ish and unreceptive. The demeanor and tone I was met with was as if I was in the wrong place. When I told them I was picking up a bike, the attitude was like if there was no way I ordered a bike. After being given my bike they were rude in answering questions I had and told me my bike was not tubeless ready because it was the "low end model". Yelp doesn't allow me to put more stars so it gets only 5. The measure of a business, to me, is not what they do when everything goes well, but what they do when things don't. Bicycle Heaven was highly recommended to me by a cycling enthusiast friend of mine. At first impression, the store appeared well stocked with parts, bikes, mechanics, and attentive staff. So far so good. I "crew member" as they call themselves, inquired what I needed. Told him I had recently purchased a used Fuji Team all carbon fiber and, although it seemed to be in good working order, I wanted a tune up and new tape and mirror installed in handlebars. Price for tune up was very fair - about $75 I think. Plus more for tape and install. I was told it would be ready in about a week. A week rolled around and I picked it up. Everything seemed fine. This is where I believe they shine. Although, there are a couple of things that weren't addressed completely during the tune up, when I brought it back, experience was amazing. Matt personally handles matters. Because of the age, the bike needed for two parts (in the saddle and in gears) to be engineered and manufactured. Instead of pushing a high costs purchase, Matt took the time to personally evaluate the situation and produce low cost but extremely effective solutions. Since I've had great experience with Specialized Bikes, decided to stick with this brand. Service - (N.W. Military) Greg was awesome; he took the time to address my concerns which included 27.5 vs 29er And I was able to test "Pitch" in a 27.5 , but they did not have a Rockhopper Sport in my size (s) but they had at the I10 location. I guess ,based on the reviews, I don't need to tell you how great a shop this is. I luckily live close by so I've been fortunate to deal with them regularly, in the process of surviving my fleet of personal bikes. But one story I want to share is when I felt like my new Specialized Sirrus men's Elite was rubbing when I was switching the front cog. I came in to have them take a look and at first the manager, who had it on the rack trying to service it, couldn't find the problem. So instead of just saying it was fixed or that I was wrong, he told one of his employees to grab a bike and ride beside me to see if he could hear the issue and I replicate it. In the end it worked out perfectly, but I couldn't believe the how determined this manager was to find my issue and fix it correctly. I was extremely satisfied with the experience overall, and I am comforted knowing such people will be the ones working on my new bike. Excellent staff and manager. On a side not I like how the store is always fully staffed and I mean as many staff as they can fit back there. It's not like some other shops where two guys do it all. read more

Special thanks and shout out to Jason and the guys over at The Bicycle Heaven COLONNADE. Great place to take your bike. Great service. Again, that's at The Colonnade location. Unfortunately I had a bad experience with the Bicycle Heaven I had gone to for years over at Northwest Military. Been off the bike for several years due to back injuries and other issues. Just getting back on the road and back on the trails. So the first thing I thought of was to take the bikes to the Bicycle Heaven on Northwest Military. BIG changes over the years. Apparently they are no longer in independently owned and operated. Most likely having to do with the big changes in the bicycling industry. Long story long, Covid really did a number on the industry. First there was not enough supply. Then they had to catch up they over manufactured and overbought and overstocked at the bike shops. So now there's warehouses with a lot of older bikes. New old stock that has still yet to sell. Unfortunately that leads to issues for the independently owned bike shops. A lot are going the way that Bicycle Heaven has. No longer independently owned and operated. But the guys do a great job again at the Colonnade location. I had first taken the bike to the Northwest Military location. Apparently they were busy selling bikes and don't really put an emphasis on customer service and repairs. They told me just to take it to the other location. Which I did. Which I'm glad I did. Jason and the mechanics over at The Colonnade Bicycle Heaven did a great job. They completely redid a 15y.o. old Specialized Enduro s-works mountain bike. All new brakes, complete tuneup and it's back on the trail. A little glitch. I did take my road bike over after it had fallen over. Needed some derailleur adjustments. Not quite right the first time but the second time around they took really good care of it and put on a new chain I had brought with me. Didn't charge me ANYTHING. But of course I bought something. You can never have too many gel bicycle gloves. LOL. But that's what you do. Somebody takes care of you, you take care of them and show them you appreciate the service. At least that's the way it USED to be back in the day. And yes I know a lot of it has to do with the turmoil in the bicycling industry these days. Unless you've been living under a rock I'm sure most people realize what's going on. Anyway, shout out and thanks again to Jason at the bicycle Heaven Colonnade. As far as the selection goes, well it's not the largest store, but it has an uncluttered space with bikes that meet every riders needs, including kids. Specialized, Moots, and Cervelo, just to name a few is what you'll find. You may spend a lot of cash getting a high-end bike, but you get what you pay for in the end though you get good service. But you don't have to spend ton to get a bike that will fit your riding needs. And if accessories is all you need, Bicycle Heaven has those, too. We live less than a mile from one of their competitors but will drive across town to use them. they are very knowledgeable, super friendly, and don't treat newbies like newbies. Wife and I recently moved to San Antonio and love biking the trails. I went into this shop after passing it a few times and then seeing good reviews online. They were very dismissive for the first 10 min and then downright rude the next 5. It just seemed like they weren't interested in helping me from the moment I walked in. Idk if they thought I wasn't interested in buying, or if they were just having a bad day. I've always preferred smaller shops because the service is almost always better than bigger stores. But I have to say, I ended up getting a Cannondale at REI --loved the service I got there, happy with the bike, the great price I got, and their follow-up. Like one of the other reviewers, I had a chronic problem with my bike that these guys knocked out like it was nothing! I had a brand new Sram X9 drivetrain installed and it would never quite shift as well as I thought it should. I kept taking it back to the LBS where I purchased the bike new (it was only a few months old at this point) and they would keep it a few days and call it good. I'd ask them if they test rode it and they acted insulted by my question. Sure enough, on my next ride, it wouldn't shift right. Finally, upon recommendation of another Bicycle Heaven customer, I took it here to have them give it a look. Within 5 minutes, the mechanic determined that the derailleur hanger was tweaked at an odd angle and fixed it. After that, the X9 was shifting like butter, even under pressure! These guys rock! Also, today I took in my new and old rear wheel to have the cassette moved from the old to the new. The guy did it while I waited in like seriously 3 minutes! And... it only cost 5 bucks! Impressed again! I bought my bike at another shop because I specifically wanted the Giant Trance X 29er, but I'm definitely coming here for all maintenance! Kudos to Bicycle Heaven! Been coming to BH for service since 2005 (starting at the old location). Usually I walk away happy. But last time did not go well. My sons Marin mountainbike had a stuck left Shimano shifter. We were told the shifter was broken. They replaced it with another model shifter, but never communicated that the original shifter model was not available. Further confusing, they mentioned while writing up the ticket that typically the shifters came in sets. But a set was not ordered. It just seems kind of ridiculous to not explain to the customer that they'd no longer have matching shifters and brake levers. My son picked up the bike because it was ready just as he was leaving town for college, so unfortunately I didn't realize this disaster until he sent me pics that night. Even then I probably would not have posted this complaint on Yelp, but I coincidentally learned the replacement was not even necessary. These GS200 shifters are known for locking up with age, especially the left which often doesn't get used. The typical fix is a good solvent to dissolve the hardened grease. But instead it was $50 to introduce the new shifter, it doesn't match, and the process of removing the old shifter damaged the handlebar, and it'll be another $50 and some some handlebar tap to resolve this mess. And in the end it's not even about the money - it just bothers my son and I that we could have keep the legacy shifter. Likewise, after many great experiences with BH, I am extremely agitated about this repair. In all fairness, the shifter was replaced quickly (same day the part arrived) and it works well. And no issues with the other repairs that were requested. read more

Honestly, this bike shop has been the only one I've been to that wasn't awkward. They actually care to help and point you in the CORRECT direction, not just whatever makes their wallets happy. Went there in 2014, bought two bikes and returned again this year to upgrade to a better bike. Went in there again with my friend to help, and instead of trying to steer her away from what she needed/wanted they helped her find exactly what she was happy with. Extreme case of bad customer service !!! Was treated like a leper. The person who helped completed lacks any kind of customer service skills, specially when it comes to a new customer with beginner skills. He didn't make any effort to provide helpful information, it looked as he was being forced to work there. I was about to make a purchase, but after some reflection I asked my self "Why should I buy at a store where the sales minion is being a jerk???". REALIZED the mistake I was about to make and decide to leave the store. I've made a promise to not go back there in my life, and will do all I can to warn all potential customers, specially since my expertise is in the social media marketing arena. Went in looking for a bike pump yesterday. Was in and out so didn't spend too much time browsing, basically a nice medium to large sized high end bike shop with new bikes in several styles and colors, cycling clothes and basic accessories. Had just what I needed, fairly reasonable price for the quality of pump. The customer service was good, helpful but not over bearing or pushy I would probably shop here again. Don't know about their quality as far as mechanical work as I haven't had any thing done here yet but will update if I do. :) read more

Ok, so I've been in the market for a mountain bike for a few months. I've always been a trek fan, but the service at the trek dealer was so awful I switched. I've been to every bike shop in the city and this place excelled by far! I purchased a Specialized and couldn't be happier. I worked with Angel and Brittany and both were super nice! Experienced these guys 3 times total. My first time was just as a window shopper looking at the various bikes and parts. I already had 3 bikes being brought to me from Houston by a friend and I couldn't wait to start working on them. I've worked on primarily BMX bikes but was about to jump into road bikes. I asked a handful of questions and the guy answering was very helpful. He knew all the right answers and asked me what I looking to do and pointed me in the direction I may or may not want to go. My second time was after picking up a bike at a really low price from a friend who was moving and I didn't have any tools to work on the bike myself and I just wanted then to inspect the rims, tubes and tires. The guy this time went ahead and checked everything and inflated my tires for me and recommended I replace a few parts and get a tune up to address immediate concerns. I took it on a light test drive and decided I would come back when I had more time and money. Best of all he did it all for free! My third time was to get my tune up on this same bike. This time the guy was not very friendly AT ALL. I always make it a point to check store hours anywhere I go to make sure I'm not ruining someone's last 10 minutes of work. I was an hour and forty minutes away from the end of the day and the shop was completely empty of any customers. I had no explanation of why he seemed upset but went ahead and setup a tune up. He recommended every service I would need to get my bike to 100% and I decided I'd do half right away and the other less vital half later. Through it all, each guy I talked to was very knowledgable and knew their craft inside and out. They even complimented my bike on 2 occasions. Overall the prices are great and knowledge goes a long way. I'd definitely stop here again and again for tune ups and such. read more

I've been cycling for over 6 years and I've really have fallen in love with it. I went in convinced that I was ready to switch from a roadbike to a hybrid. I even purchased the bike and brought it home. After about an hour or so I realized that this was not the right bike for me. The women who sold me the bike did a fantastic job and answered all of my questions, however, I called in and explained the situation and Mark asked me to bring the bike back in.
