    My bike.
    Dan D.

Yelp doesn't allow me to put more stars so it gets only 5. The measure of a business, to me, is not what they do when everything goes well, but what they do when things don't. Bicycle Heaven was highly recommended to me by a cycling enthusiast friend of mine. At first impression, the store appeared well stocked with parts, bikes, mechanics, and attentive staff. So far so good. I "crew member" as they call themselves, inquired what I needed. Told him I had recently purchased a used Fuji Team all carbon fiber and, although it seemed to be in good working order, I wanted a tune up and new tape and mirror installed in handlebars. Price for tune up was very fair - about $75 I think. Plus more for tape and install. I was told it would be ready in about a week. A week rolled around and I picked it up. Everything seemed fine. This is where I believe they shine. Although, there are a couple of things that weren't addressed completely during the tune up, when I brought it back, experience was amazing. Matt personally handles matters. Because of the age, the bike needed for two parts (in the saddle and in gears) to be engineered and manufactured. Instead of pushing a high costs purchase, Matt took the time to personally evaluate the situation and produce low cost but extremely effective solutions. He was friendly and super attentive through the entire process. Can't express my positive impression enough.

It's been more than 10 years since I bought my first Specialized Rockhopper and for about a week I've reviewed different brands, from Trek, Cannondale etc and visited bikes shops around SA. Since I've had great experience with Specialized Bikes, decided to stick with this brand. Service - (N.W. Military) Greg was awesome; he took the time to address my concerns which included 27.5 vs 29er And I was able to test "Pitch" in a 27.5 , but they did not have a Rockhopper Sport in my size (s) but they had at the I10 location. Drove to I10 and met up with Nick since he was already expecting me... test drove... chose the Rockhopper 29er.... Thanks guys

I guess ,based on the reviews, I don't need to tell you how great a shop this is. I luckily live close by so I've been fortunate to deal with them regularly, in the process of surviving my fleet of personal bikes. But one story I want to share is when I felt like my new Specialized Sirrus men's Elite was rubbing when I was switching the front cog. I came in to have them take a look and at first the manager, who had it on the rack trying to service it, couldn't find the problem. So instead of just saying it was fixed or that I was wrong, he told one of his employees to grab a bike and ride beside me to see if he could hear the issue and I replicate it. In the end it worked out perfectly, but I couldn't believe the how determined this manager was to find my issue and fix it correctly. I was extremely satisfied with the experience overall, and I am comforted knowing such people will be the ones working on my new bike. Excellent staff and manager. On a side not I like how the store is always fully staffed and I mean as many staff as they can fit back there. It's not like some other shops where two guys do it all.

I just lost the detailed post I wrote so I'm rewriting this consolidated. I brought my new e- bike…read morein for a back flat tire. I lent the bike after riding it only twice to a friend who wrecked it into a curb. The diagnosis was a pinched tube or a "snake bite." Labor and tube was $65 and she paid for the damage. After minimal use about a week later the tire went flat again and I brought the bike back a week after I noticed this. I was happy Trek gave it back to me for free. I'm not sure what was done but I didn't ask. BOTH times I had mentioned that I thought the rim might be slightly bent. Now the same tire is flat again. The bike has been sitting for a month if not mare and I had two friends who know about bikes to look at the rim. I'm not off roading, hitting potholes, putting more then 95 lbs on it, or hitting curbs so I don't understand why this bike is useless to me. Both people said they thought it was bent. I spent the money and bought it new because I had just lost my car and am saving for another one. Spending money on a new bike at all is frustrating but my friend paid for the damage she caused, Trek bikes didn't charge me the second time I brought it in, but now I need to, yet again, find a ride there and back and there and back to figure out the problem. Thank goodness I had been checking the tire before riding it so my rim isn't any more warped then the first time and I wasn't on the bike when it went flat. The speed that it goes that would possibly be a serious injury. At this point I'd rather skip the labor costs if I have to come back every two weeks and order a tubeless tire on Amazon and install it myself but that, I fear, would be another waste of time if it is the rim. Even if the rim isn't the causation of these flats I wanted my new bike looking like it did before she wrecked it. I don't know why my comments before about the rim were ignored. If it is the tube again I would suggest to them to not use cheap tubes. I know I should've been more persistent about making sure this was done but honestly I was trusting the professionals knew what they were doing and so glad to get my only transportation back the first time and to not have to pay again the second time I just thought if it was a issue they would've told me. It is a issue. When now I flip the bike upside down and remove the tire it is totally consistent with hitting a curb. I can't after this amount of time has past and charge my friend whatever this cost will be. How does she know my e bike has been gathering dust and not being taken off roading? I know though. What I had suspicions of the first time was true and not addressed by Trek Bikes. I now just want to sell it because I call it my useless, cursed bike. It was bad enough losing my vehicle and now this. I will keep the public posted on how this all turns out. Monday I will speak with Trek Bikes in Alamo Heights and see how they handle the situation. I was going to wait until that happened to post this but the frustration of seeing this bent rim stands on its own even if that isn't the cause of the flats. I only told the shop verbally my suspicions so I encourage everyone out there to have in writing thru email or text everything that was said and done so it doesn't become a he said she said. I'm giving one star for the speed of service and one star for the cleanliness of the shop and the employees were nice. I don't know if the ball was dropped communicating what I said to service but service should've seen the damage. I will change the rating depending on the outcome Tks!

I took in the bent rim with the bicycle, and told him that I wanted to either get it bent back, or replaced with another wheel outfitted with a quick release axle wheel. I got back a new-used wheel, bolted to the frame. No quick release. I pointed this out, and how I had even included the quick release that could've been used on this wheel. The clerk got defensive, saying that this model of bike never had a quick release, which is complete BS, since I brought that exact thing in. Then he admitted he wasn't able to get it to work. I think he forgot. I got charged new prices on a used wheel. I had to ask for my old wheel back, which still had lights and reflectors on it. I had also paid for a brake job, which they did a terrible job on. I ended up having to do it over myself. There's a sign that says that they'll charge you a 'storage fee' if your bike is left a couple of days after work is completed. If you don't pay for repairs within a month, he sells your bike. In all, I got a used part I didn't want, which is now bolted to my frame.
