Took my dad here to get some rotors and a mount for a disc brake conversion on his bike, and they were kind enough to install them for us when we came back a second time because I asked for the wrong mount, didn't even charge us on our repeat visit which I can't overstate how much I appreciate them doing that for us. We were on vacation a long way from home anxious to use our new ebikes. Prior to leaving home I discovered I had a flat and so I repaired it myself and mounted the bike on the RV. When in the Dallas/Fort Worth are I noticed it looked flat again and sure enough it was. I had extra tubes with me but wanted it done by a pro in case there was something I had over/looked and didn't want to get stuck where no extra resources were available. Ride Away Bicycles were nearby and that's where we met Manny. Energy, enthusiasm, friendliness, warmth, compassion and a huge grin were some things that Manny carried with him in his day to day life. He was a joy to speak with. Understanding our situation he said he could rearrange his schedule a bit and get it out the door really quickly. He suggested we take a walk around the mall for 45 minutes. We did. On the way back to his shop we stopped for smoothies and got one for him too. He was very happy and so were we when he told us the job was on him. Too few business realize how much positivity a little kindness can engender. Truth be told, while I can only wish that his business was in San Diego so I could use their services with higher frequency (paid of course) I must be satisified with the fuzzy glow that lingers after dealing with a genuinely caring person and I assume business. Whoa! This place really impressed me. I feel like most places I visit, the customer service is more than lacking. I went in to get my kiddos bike brakes fixed and intended that I'd have to leave for weeks. Nope, the guy in the service area looked at it and said he could fix up right now... mind you I battled traffic and made it there with ten min before the place closed. I didn't grab his name but he was quick and $10 bucks later we left with the fixed bike and a super happy kid. Saved me a trip back too. I've been bringing my Giant e-bike here for over two years. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful; they even showed me how to make simple adjustments myself. They will often make repairs on the spot but if something is more extensive, they let you know what you will be getting into. I never Yelp, but had to give a big thanks to Ed and the crew at Ride Away. I snapped the rear derailleur off while Mtn biking today. I had just started. Tossed my bike in the truck and stopped in to see if I could get it fixed in the next day or two. Ed had me out the door in 15 minutes. She never tried to up sell me to a product that wasn't right, and even though the store was crazy busy she took the time to answer my questions to get the right gear. I loved my bike shopping experience here at ride away. I'm an absolute bike NOOB and had an idea of what I wanted to accomplish but no clue how to get there. After visiting Academy, Dicks and other big box retailers that sold bikes I was never able to feel confident in buying a bike. That all changed when I walked into Ride away! The initial person whom we spoke with was named Jorge, he spent a very long time with my girlfriend and I explaining all the features of the bikes as well as finding a couple that fit our needs and budget he knew we weren't planning on buying that day and that didn't stop him from addressing 100% of our concerns and answering all of our questions. Fast forward a week and we're ready to make the purchase Jorge wasn't there but another one of his peers was and I received the same elite level of support and service he once again sat with us and explained all the features as well as recommend some really great trails! He even helped install a trunk mount in my car which I didn't expect. Fast forward to this morning after an hour on the trail I had a mishap on the trail and my chain came off I contacted them and they immediately told me to drop on by I didn't have to even wait 30 seconds the mechanic grabbed my bike resolved the issue and I was on my way! All in all this place is incredible it doesn't matter if you're a rookie or a veteran ride away is the place you should be shopping at. read more

Note - Do not shop there! I went into store on 3 occasions. The staff at the Hubner Oaks location is more concerned about his dog, that with Customers. I went to purchase a 8500.00 e-mountain-bike to only be turned away. I then thought, well they have more than one location, only to find they would transfer the bike from that store to one in Alamo Oaks. Only to note that it would take more than a week... so, giving them one more chance, they basically said nope! So, I am done with Ride Away Bikes. One other note, I watched a customer bring in a bike to be put together, only to watch leave due to the fact that they told him, it would be at least 2 months or more before they could get to it... Just bought a bike and since this store is across the street from my office, I thought I'd try it out. First visit was pretty awesome. Janelle (I believe that's her name) was fantastic. She was attentive, intuitive, and well rounded on her knowledge of everything bikes. After spending around $250, I decided that was probably enough for my first visit. Went back for round two a couple days later and found the complete opposite service. Janelle and a tall gentleman were both working and there was a customer there with his family. I waited patiently while both of them waited on the couple, told old stories of prior life experiences, and discussed payment options should they decide to buy a bike. All the while, I was standing at the cash register with item in hand, ready to buy. At one point I was asked to try on the shorts I had in hand to essentially kill time while they both tried to close the deal. I obliged them as I had a few extra moments to spare although I already knew the shorts fit. I've been in this shop on three different occasions now. The first visit was ok, second was fantastic, this last one not so much. I'd recommend the store for the staffs product knowledge however, if there's someone in there ahead of you, do yourself a favor and either come back another day or go to another shop. read more

This place is weird. They have a lot of staff who are very knowledgeable, but they don't really seem interested in selling anyone anything? I came in for a helmet and the dude just said "there they are" and pointed to a wall and walked away. The people in the back doing the repairs/adjustments are extremely nice, but, I was disturbed that the owner wasn't wearing a face mask while assisting customers while the rest of the staff had them on. These guys are awesome! My sons and I all ride BMX, but we're not the best with assembly. Ride Away has put together all of our bikes. And I've had zero problems.Today I called asking if they could look at my brakes and they said to come on in and if it was a quick adjustment they could take care of it without checking me in. I stopped in and my issue was resolved in just 15 minutes! That was to replace a harness and do a brake alignment. I used to be a road biking kind of gal, thought I always would be, but something happened.....I got adventurous! My other half and I decided when I moved here close to a couple years ago that we needed to get out and do more and biking seemed to be the perfect way to do this. He's way too adventurous to get on a road bike and just...ride, so we went a whole different direction. Mountain bikes. Know what I love more than my mountain bike? Well, besides my honey and my dogs and family? Nothin. My mountain bike is pretty much like my pride & joy that I sometimes injur myself on, but hey, that's part of the fun of it! We went into several different stores and I don't know what happens to some people in the world of road bikes and mountain bikes, but it's like you walk into certain stores and you can just feel the "doucher vibe" immediately. We walked out of several stores because we weren't given the time of day. Ride Away was different. Everyone was super helpful from start to finish and they helped me pick the perfect bike, being that I was a mountain bike rookie. I'm so happy with my Giant, as is my other half. Anytime we need tune up's etc, the guys are more than happy to accommodate. The prices are average on your basic stuff, tubes, tires etc...clothing is a bit pricey, but that's to be expected at any higher end bike store. The bikes of course are mostly higher end, but thy're great at helping you stay in your budget, whatever that may be. It was super important to me to find a bike store that sells Giant & sells them proudly and Ride Away does. I'm forever grateful Ride Away guys! I wish I could remember the name of the one guy in particular who really helped us, but I can't remember much from yesterday, so not a change. For all your biking needs, this place is the place to go. This place doesn't have the pretentious feel that most places have & for me, that's a must! read more

This bike shop doesn't have a fancy warehouse, nor display area but everything is very straightforward and the customer service is STELLAR! I dropped my bike off for a tune-up and for $100 I got the wheels trued, cables changed out, breaks adjusted, and the drive train and bike frame washed and polished! For you cycling rookies this is a BARGAIN and the bike rides next to brand new! The staff was very friendly and make a genuine effort to have a conversation about your cycling interests. The inventory is standard just like any other bike shop. For those of you who use electrolytes by HEED or shot blocks by cliff, they have most flavors in stock! Because I went as the weather started to warm-up, everybody and their mother were getting their bikes tuned-up so the turn around time was around 2-1/2 days! read more

My husband and I have been toying with the idea of getting bikes and training for a triathlon for some time now. A recommendation of a few friends led us to Ride Away Bicycles and we couldn't have been more pleased. Everyone working at the store was knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. We had very minimal knowledge about bikes and the sport of road biking and they were more than happy to answer any questions we had. We had to special order bikes due to our height, but the bikes were in the shop and ready to go within a few days. They had us do multiple test rides around the shop to ensure we were fitted correctly, and gave us bike 101 for safety and maintenance needs. They let u ride the bike in the parking lot, and the salesperson is super attentive and an all around nice gal but a certain incident bothered me: I was out shopping for a bike, and was ready to drop money for it. I saw a bike, and it had a sale price, and it was already on layaway. It was 10% off. I asked the rep if she had another one similar to that. She showed me the exact same model, but at the non-sale price. "Sorry, that sale price was may 3-5"... I talked to the owner/manager, and told him if he gave me the sale price, i'd take the bike. He said no... ... maybe im being a bit capricious, but is it really good business practice to show your customers that someone else paid less for a bike than offered to you? read more

Ever want to meet bike nerds? Here is a good place to come too. They know their machines and in the bicycle world they are a force to be reckoned with, but I am sure you are new and you dont know anything about bicycles so let me help you. Yes a good bike is worth $500 plus and a great bike is worth $2k plus and no they are not kidding, Drink the kool-aid. The service shop is a great feature the guys back there are always working and to date I have not left dissapointed. This place is not wally-world so nothing is going to be cheap and to a point I kinda like it because they don't buy crap to sell for you at a higher price. I admit that I would get most of my secondary needs from the internet but grab and go material is there. So come with money if your looking for bicycle and don't be to worried about the bike speak, once you get hitched you will be wearing one of those spandex shorts too one day, and soon you will be sporting a butt that could be used to make diamonds from coal. read more

I have had quite a few bad experiences at Bike shops. I went in looking for a couple cone wrenches. They didn't have the 17/18m wrench i was looking for, BUT I wasn't greeted by a pushy sales person with limited knowledge about bikes outside the catalog, and then patronized by an arrogant service department for wanting to buy 15 dollars in parts. I even saw their mechanic politely explaining to a bike owner that his walmart special wasn't repairable instead of laughing at him. read more

These guys are awesome! I hadn't visited them before and only visit bike shops when I need something that I have to have right away. In this instance, I was taking a shot in the dark that one of the local bike shops would be nice enough to allow me to rummage through their house parts. I first called the closest being Planet Bikes off Bandera. I wasn't expecting much as those guys are pretty much all tools and not the useful kind. I asked if they had hub bearings and axle cones I got a no before I could get axle cones out completely at that point I said thanks and hung up. Ride Away on the other hand said bring in what you have and we will match it up. Sure enough, walked in the door with the axle I had pulled out of the rear tire, one of the bearings and the cones. They matched up both cones as one of mine was pitted the other bent, and they had the bearing I needed. I couldn't have been happier. These parts are a dime a dozen on Amazon or anywhere else which is why most shops won't bother helping you because there's zero mark up and even if it was high who cares we're talking a few bucks. It's really not worth their time. However these guys understood taking the time for a guy that's serious enough about riding to work on his own bike means he's serious enough to spend some money down the road. They now have a loyal customer for life! read more

I didn't buy a bike but I went to check them out because I am looking for one. The employee was super helpful, recommended what kind of bike I should get by my height and how I was gonna ride it. He let me ride it outside in the parking lot. I didn't get it because it was only the 2nd place I had been to so I wanted to see other options elsewhere plus I didn't really like the color but the service here was great, I will definitely be coming back if I don't find what I like elsewhere and just get one here :) read more
