Beware of being overcharged. Jason and Jenelle made it very difficult to get something so simple resolved. Simple fix would have been refund for what you overcharged for or credit for future purchase that would have kept this customer to return. When picked up prescription lenses prescription was not what I ordered. Poor outcome. Reached out to owner with no response. read more

He explains everything clearly and points out things that prior optometrists missed or failed to explain. Plus they always have a good selection of glasses and sunglasses as well and are helpful in finding me a new pair or two. read more

I have been a patient of Dr.Gottlieb's office for many years and had only recently had trouble with their services. When I needed to purchase a pair of prescription sunglasses, I was carried throughout the process and purchased them on that day. On the day of the purchase I was not counseled on what their return policy is and whether or not I would be able to return or exchange the glasses if maybe they were not to my liking. When I did eventually receive the glasses I had an issue in which I had to follow up with the staff about. The staff at the front desk assured me that if I had any issues or problems with the sunglasses, I would be able to return them for a refund within 30 days. Fast forward a few weeks later and I was having some regrets about my purchase as the quality of the sunglasses was not what I expected when I initially had tried them on. When I came back to the office to return the glasses, I was met with a new staff member at the front that informed me there was a no return policy and that I could not exchange what so ever the glasses I had purchased. They gave me a terms and condition paper that day that went over their policy, however I was never given this notice when I had initially spent over $370 on the day of the purchase. They stated I needed to wait for the owner of the optometry to return from vacation before I could get a response back regarding my incident. It's been over two months now and I have yet to hear back from anyone regarding my inquiry. At this point I may just keep the glasses because the customer service and support of this optometrist office has left a sour taste in my mouth. With no follow up and no regard to my inquiry, I feel that they have duped me into buying glasses without disclosing their return policy, as well as failing to follow up with my inquiry about if their would be a possibility to get a return or exchange of any kind. It is very disappointing to see this lack of accountability and commitment to a long time patient. I do not believe I will be returning here for any future services. read more

There are two Dr. Gottlieb's: Larry Gottlieb (father/senior) & Donald Gottlieb (son/junior) & two separate locations (Palo Verde/Del Amo & other at Lakewood Mall). I've been treated by both Doctors & both are very thorough, patient & have addressed all of my questions & concerns. I love the Silhouette brand set of frames that I bought from Palo Verde location less than 1 year ago. At that time I had the eye exam with Dr. Gottlieb (senior) & I was very impressed with his service & his years of experience. I had the Silhouette frame "fitting" with Michael who, is also great & knowledgeable! However, today I expressed to Dr. Gottlieb (junior) that I was unhappy with the poor customer service that the 2 front desk girl clerks displayed towards me at the Lakewood Mall location on 01/30/15 (11:00 am approximately). Moving forward, I only plan on visiting the Palo Verde location as their front desk staff is very professional & helpful. I'm currently being treated by Dr. Gottlieb (junior) for a dry eye condition. I also just had an eye exam with him for contact lenses & I'm trying out the CibaVision's Dailies Total 1. So far, I'm loving these contacts! They hold their moisture all day & I can't even feel that I'm wearing contacts by the end of the day! I also inquired on lasik eye surgery & Dr. Gottlieb (junior) gave me a lot of useful information & gave me a referral for a lasik consultation. 5 STARS to both Dr. Gottliebs especially Gottlieb junior for his time & patience; for his knowledge; & for making me feel that my eyes are in good hands! read more

This was my first time receiving glasses . When arrival of my classes they added blue lenses into the glasses due to a charge of 70 when i have medical insurance . I had to wait to see why was the charge high that wasn't discussed with my first appointment they advised me the blue lense was added i told them i never agreed to that i had to wait another week for them to remove the blue lense . As i come in today because the glasses is to strong they advised me they will charge me to change a lense when this is my first time wearing glasses and of course i am not use to the glasses i would never recommend this doctor office , a patient should not be charged if glasses are to strong read more

We've been coming to Dr.Gottlieb for years. We went in on 1/20 to get reading glasses and prescription sunglasses . We picked out the frames we wanted, my wife customized Oakley sunglasses which the sales man helped customize . On 1/30 I get a call stating my sunglasses I picked out from the store went missing and I needed to come in and pick them out. My wife went into the store to find them and they are no longer in store. We requested a refund. Strike 1. 2/14 glasses are in. My wife tries on her glasses and low and behold her "custom" glasses actually were my missing frame that he couldn't find. We paid for custom glasses and didn't get it . Returned that pair and strike 2. My reading glasses I picked up had engraving on the lenses which I didn't know were for anti fatigue . It's very noticeable so they went back to the lab to fix . Stephanie and May ( I believe that's her name ) have been nothing but apologetic and trying everything to fix this awful situation. Jason the salesman has apologized twice but in an condescending tone and seems to not know what's going on there. You would think someone would call us to Inquire as to why almost $1100 was returned . But that has not happened . Will not be returning to do business here . read more

Just when you thought it couldnt get any worse along comes Gottlieb & Son Optom...Took 30 days to recieve a pair of 99% dysfunctional progressive eyeglasses...the progression is so off i have to lift the eyeglasses up off the nose bridge in order to read.They have a constant secretion of oily film that is impossible to keep smudge free.i have transition (sunglass photo-sun) in the lens that during the day has a grayish unclear film on them when you arnt in the sun. There was zero informative communication during the 30 days about the wherabouts of my glasses except for my phone calls to them and no one knew anything except for one girl, Stephanie who said it appeared the glasses had been returned because they didnt pass inspection, twice....The elder Gottlieb performed such an incorrect eye test that the younger Gottlieb had to repeat and correct the script.. the same goes for the contact lenses that were scribed..junk on every level...i was in this office navigating and retesting and inquiring for over 30 days on my days off work..This is a terrible Optomotrist office..I was so burnt out on this place after 30 days, i finally said to heck with this..they just cant get anything right..the left hand def doesnt know what the right hand is doing..and that goes from the top the bottom...I have no doubt that their are many optom Drs that are worth thier salt....STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE.unless you want to pay 650..++ (and the day of pic-up, the office tries to charge you again, because according to their records, you owe..lol...good thing for reciepts, right ! I had issues with my glasses that I bought from them, to a point where my new glasses were hurting my eyes. I went back in and they told me that it wasn't the glasses and to keep wearing them (At this point, I should have figured this would not end well). I continued to have similar issues and I called them back. They told me someone would call me back and It's been over 3 weeks and I have not heard one. I came to this office because my usual location was closed due to Covid. My dad had suggested this place so I gave it a try. Everything seem fine and normal throughout the exam process till after. When I sat down to review cost and to purchase glasses. The older gentleman who was helping me out seemed more fixated on rushing me out than helping. He also seemed upset because I was asking questions-questions that are valid because I am not an expert in glasses nor in all the add-ons. I ignored his demeanor and continued to ask questions but of course when add-ons add up to $210 WITHOUT lenses you question and you want to know exactly what everything is, yet he still seemed upset and impatient. So I politely asked for my eye prescription and said I would come back at another time. My usual place opens and they end up running the prescription that Dr. Gottlieb gave me. May I repeat that where I got my glasses is a different office, different business than Dr. Gottlieb's. I end up purchasing my glasses and my total comes out to about $130 INCLUDING my lenses which was weird because Dr. G's office was charging me way more for just add-ons without any lenses. Not sure what happened there or if the associate was too distracted to give me the correct prices. Two weeks passed and I get my glasses and I'm having a really hard time with my vision and I kept my glasses for about 4 days till I could not take it anymore and I call where I got my glasses from and let them know that I was having a really hard time adjusting to the new lenses. After some analyzing turns out that Dr. G mistakenly switched up my eye prescriptions. So my left is on my right and my right was on my left. I had to go back and get another exam at his office with another doctor and at the end I got my prescription right and it was all good. I understand that we can make mistakes but this one cost me over month of waiting. Also as someone who works in customer service if someone has questions about what they are purchasing you do not rush someone nor do you look bothered. I'm not buying a doughnut. I'm buying glasses that are to help me with my vision. So pardon me if I want to ask questions. I don't question the doctors work ethic, because mistakes happen but it was just the overall experience as well. I won't be coming back to this optometry please read more

Fuckin worst experience ever I'm sorry I rarely use words like that but in complete honesty, it needs the F word. I went here November of 2013 for a new set of contacts for my 20th bday. But the experience with the doctor was so uncomfortable that I didn't want contacts any more and just settled for some knock off Ray-ban. Now the experience with this Dr. Gottlieb was so terrible due to the simple fact that he belittled me. He belittled my education and my experiences. I have had very solid, very first-rate service with Gottlieb Optometry. I do not work for them, and they were able to hook me up with Oakley frames. If you are not an Oakley fan they have many other designers too, from Maui Jim to Ray-Ban and even the European designers. Someone apparently has had a very bad experience. Bad staff? I wondered if you kept working with them about this issue. But I am going back there for an eye exam (two years overdue, their staff may have changed since then, though the doctors have not changed). They really should get at least 4 1/2 or 5 stars, not three, let alone one. Be sure to always compare, don't take my word for it. (PS. Went for an exam recently. The staff was pretty nice (however 1 was slightly argumentative when I questioned her rate calculations & explanation.) Dr. Gottleib was terrible! He was rude, insulting & arrogant. I left there thinking I had just been punked... Can not recommend this doctor. read more

He always does the most thorough exams and tests us not only for our vision needs but our overall health. Dr. Golttieb is very professional and friendly. He was able to help me get exactly what I was looking for. Been searching for the longest time for a pair of sunglasses that would fit my personal preference..Not too big, nor too tight, nor small..etc. Finally found a pair that I really liked and was glad that Dr. Gottlieb was able to get me exactly what I wanted for a very reasonable price. For being a name brand pair of sunglasses (Burberry) I didn't have to pay for the market price that Sunglass Hut would sell it at. The prices here are extremely reasonable and I wouldn't understand how someone would say this location is over-priced when Dr. Gottlieb works his way to give you the best deal/discount he can possibly get you. This was my first visit to an optometrist in more than 6 years. I finally got onto my company's insurance and looked up Dr. Gottlieb, as his office is extremely close to my house. After reading the three reviews the morning of my appointment, I was absolutely terrified (ok, so I'm nervous by nature, and the reviews certainly didn't help to quell my fears). All of a sudden, I wanted to cancel my appointment and go somewhere else, despite the fact that I desperately need new glasses. Alas, I sucked it up, decided to a be a "big girl" and go. The moment I walked in, there was a woman at the counter complaining about her frames, then the thought, "Oh no! It IS true!!", ran through my mind. The woman at the desk was kind, took me back for some quick eye tests and paperwork. I sat back down and waited, and filled out more info. The doctor was very nice, a female doctor, her name has since slipped my mind. She was thorough in explaining what she was doing, and why she was doing it. She set up my current prescription in the little eye machine, and was able to show me the comparison between my old prescription and the new one. The "frame-woman" was kind, did her job trying to up-sell, but I'm a simple gal, and want a simple frame, and don't care about uber-expensive name brand things. Finally! A place with fast, friendly, quality service. I'm a sunglass fanatic, especially when it comes to designer. I love the frames but the lenses aren't very good. Most optometrists wouldn't dare touching frame with large lenses, or "extreme curvature." I brought in a pair of "Gucci" frames with a huge scratch in one lens, that 3 other optometries said could not be fixed, and I should just buy a new pair. Not willing to give up I turned to yelp. I saw one reviewer (David T.) mention that he went to dr gott lieb to have lenses switched out, and wow I'm impressed, they replace both of my lenses made them true color (polarized, and got them back to me early, they said it'd take at least 3 days, but to my surprise the called me in two! They didn't rip my ass open with pricing either. Great experience all around! read more

Sadly, this office lost my business as of today after being a customer for several years. The optometrists are fine, but the staff's attention to detail has been slipping. Last November I ordered new glasses and specifically asked for Transition lenses, and paid for that option. When my glasses arrived almost two weeks later, the lenses were *not* Transition lenses. They had to take back the glasses and I had to wait again over one week before they were ready. Two weeks ago the office sent their customers an email announcing they can coat glasses lenses to alleviate fogging, due to the fact that we're all wearing masks during the pandemic. Other than showing the price of the coating, no other details were provided in the email. On the email was a link where you could request an appointment, which I immediately proceeded to do. Several days after requesting an appointment for the coating, no reply. So I called, and they had no clue I made the online request. I was then told I'd have to wait over one week to come in for the coating, so I made the appointment. During the phone conversation I was told *nothing* about what the procedure entails. So I assumed it was done onsite and I could wait in the store while it was being done. I arrive this morning, reminding them that my appointment was for having my lenses coated. One of the receptionists asked if I'm ok without my glasses. I replied that since I'll be sitting in the office during the procedure that I'd be fine. She then tells me that the coating takes *five to seven days*! No where on the email does it give this information, and whoever I talked to on the phone to make the appointment said *nothing* regarding what the procedure would involve, much less that I needed to bring a spare pair of glasses so I could drive! I took time off from work to honor this appointment, which was a complete waste of my time. I had no choice but to walk out, furious at such poor service.
