I understood that BHF has a great Farm Market. BHF delivered on that and more. I arrived 10 minutes before BHF opened its gate at 9 am. By 9, five different cars had parked nearby so they could have pick of the Market. The customers mostly seemed like local Mainers, but there were some folks taking pics as well. After I parked, I scurried to the Market and didn't notice the surrounding area yet. The produce looked beautiful with its purples, greens, oranges, reds, yellows and dark blues. I bought fresh wild Maine blueberries, cucumbers, carrots, a multi-colored bell pepper, yellow-orange heirloom tomatoes, an eggplant and mixed salad greens. The blueberries were delicious. I made a great dinner salad with the non-eggplant veggies. I'll grill the eggplant tomorrow. I bought a few other local products. A baguette that was terrific with a local blue cheese I also bought from BHF. Granola I haven't tried yet. And a blueberry pie made by "Gayle Arnold Tucker". I don't know who that is, but in my mind she's a 5th Generation local pie legend. The crust was to-die-for and the blueberry filling had great flavor and consistency. BHF also sold things such as milk, eggs, honey, kimchi, jarred products and beverages. It was a terrific-looking farm Market with great stuff. After my purchases, I explored the grounds. There was a green house with row after row of farm fresh and fragrant garlic and things like starter vegetables. Picnic tables. Fruit trees. And my favorite thing of all - rows of gorgeous wild flowers that were a big draw for bees and . . . the most monarch butterflies I've ever seen in one naturally occurring place. I don't even know how many there were. I saw five at a time when I was looking up. I spent about 15 minutes taking butterfly photos and got some awesome pics. I limited myself to one in the Yelp photos I posted. The flower photo opportunities are also outstanding. I'll put my BHF pics up against my Acadia pics any day. If you like exploring Farmers Markets and/or great photo opps, I guarantee you'll enjoy Beech Hill Farms, at least in August. Five Stars

Curbside pickup is especially efficient--orders are brought out quickly, and the staff loads items neatly into your trunk. Normally I'm far too lazy to write a review, but we had such a good experience at this store that I thought I really should. We had a somewhat unfortunate time trying to start a fire in the blackwoods campground after buying wood and a starter log from here. We went back to ask for advice, and he was as confused as we were about why the logs wouldn't stay lit. He gave us another bundle of wood, some of his own kindling, and lighter fluid for free. In the end, it turns out that the supplier of the logs had left them out in the rain, and while they were dry on the outside, internal moisture kept them from burning correctly. We didn't get a fire to stay lit that night, but the store owner refunded our money without us asking, saying he hoped we would be back. We certainly will be if we're on Mount Desert Island again.

This was one of the most disturbing customer service experiences I've ever had…read more I stopped by this deli to buy some muffins. After picking one up, the owner suddenly snatched it out of my hand and immediately began yelling at me. I was completely caught off guard. I calmly asked what I had done wrong and said there was no reason to yell at me. Rather than explaining the situation, she continued shouting, became increasingly aggressive, and repeatedly ordered me to leave the store. At no point was I given a clear explanation for what had happened. My husband, who had been waiting in the car, saw me return upset and empty-handed. He went inside hoping to calmly resolve the misunderstanding, but he was also told to leave without any meaningful explanation. Despite his efforts to de-escalate the situation and speak respectfully, the owner continued yelling and refused to have a conversation. So we left. Later, we mentioned the incident to our Airbnb host, who told us he remembered similar confrontations involving this business with some of his past renters. After reading Yelp and other reviews, we also found accounts from other customers describing comparable experiences, including some who felt they were treated differently because they were non-white. Any opportunities or excuses she can find to harass, she will. I can't speak to the owner's motivations or intentions, but seeing similar accounts from others was deeply troubling. No customer should be yelled at, humiliated, or threatened for any reasons. Everyone deserves to be treated with basic courtesy and respect. We intend to report this incident through the appropriate channels so it can be properly reviewed. I also hope the business preserves any available security camera footage, as it may help provide an objective record of what occurred. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this establishment.

Absolutely adorable local market with a variety of items and baked goods. On our recent visit to…read morethe area, we went a couple of times to find locally made gifts that benefit the local schools and community. I picked up a cute baby beanie for my friend's soon to be born son, and the note on it says it helps the local students with travel. There is also a large wine selection and lots of local beer, as well as jams, syrups, canned goods, snacks, and other goodies. It is cash only, but there is an ATM with a $2 fee on top of your bank fee. I wish we could have gotten the ice cream, but we were full. My understanding is that we were there on the last seasonal day for it, so if you have a hankering for it and it's open, I would suggest getting some. In the meantime, the baked goods are a chef's kiss! I have to give a nod to the friendliest ladies working there too. What an absolute delight!
