    Crab panini

Delicious crab panini hit the spot for a late lunch. We went at an odd hour so things were a little slow, but no big deal. Would still recommend to anyone traveling to Bar Harbor.

Sometimes simplicity really is best. After a day in the park, we quickly popped in for a late lunch. Not busy, but the menu's Panninis immediately caught my eye. Crab and lobster Panninis sounded too good to pass up. And so a pannini loaded with a quarter pound of peekytoe crab, with melty cheese and aioli, was just pure warm comfort between two slices of bread. It's really nice to have a place not skimp on their namesake meat. 10 outta 10, no notes.

We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather. The service was excellent. We had a large party of 8. The food was absolutely wonderful. They are dog friendly if you sit outside. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal here and would definitely go back!

Very cute place in Bar Harbor to get some good food. We got a small snack of oysters and curry soup and loved the flavors of the soup as well as the freshness of the oysters. The service was kind and the food was quick, love the outdoor and indoor seating as well

    Fried rice bowl with shrimp

Service was good, food was bad. My lobster roll was just all mush and super soggy (not good quality bread) for a lobster roll and everything came out super cold. Not sure how that's possible when we were just about the only ones there. The fried rice bowl was okay after we asked them to warm it up. Rice was very hard

    Panzanella salad with prosciutto

As we walked down Main St, we were looking for something low key but delicious and not too expensive. Well, this is the place. The front porch has a great over the street vibe, and the service was outstanding. The most friendly staff. Had Panzanella salad with prosciutto, the blackened, panko haddock tacos, the cornmeal crusted and blackened haddock tacos and build your own rice plate. This is a great, great unique choice when you want a slight difference in local cuisine. And the Brie starter is a must!!! I'd order that alone and be happy.

    Restaurant sign - cute place!

I really wanted to give this more stars - but couldn't be honest and do that. First - the place is just as cute as could be. Right on Main St in Bar Harbor - it has potential for days! Then there was the service. We ordered 3 hot lobster rolls and a crabby patty. It took a little over an hour from ordering to getting our food. And they were not busy and had enough staff. Maybe our order failed to get turned in? It happens. But, we were enjoying the patio and the beautiful day. The food was delicious - but paid extra for the lobster rolls to be 'hot' - and they were warm at best. I would like to assume/hope it was just an off day for Peekytoe - we wanted to really love it.

Cajun Salmon Sandwich & Mashed Sweet Potato Side & Precipice Coffee with Pistachio Milk

Of all the restaurants we went to in Bar Harbor, this one was my favorite. The food was all really great, and so was the coffee. I would highly recommend getting the pistachio milk! The salmon was so good, and so were all the sides. The only nit-picky thing is the clam chowder didn't taste like clam chowder. It was delicious, but spiced more like a chicken noodle soup. It wasn't the creamy clam chowder I was expecting. They also don't have salt or pepper on the tables. The service was very nice! We were offered coffees for the road, and checked on the perfect amount. I also loved the atmosphere of the place, we sat on the patio and it was perfect! Overall rating: 4.8/5 stars

    Oysters

Service was fast and the oysters were amazing! We were able to get three different types. The staff explained each one and really helped shape our experience!

This place was truly special. My wife and I stayed in bar harbor during the offseason to avoid tourists, but of course that comes with tons of restaurants not being open. We were thrilled to find this restaurant open and the food was exceptional. Great prices as well considering how high quality everything was. I can't recommend this place

I'm so glad that i made a stop here because everything that i tried was delicious. Our favorite dish had to be the blueberry pie for dessert but everything we had felt thoughtfully prepared. The signature salad has a big portion of toppings that I really enjoyed and the amount of dressing was perfect. We also tried the crab roll which was well complemented by the pickle on the side. The crab was cooked well and seasoned. The smoked fish chowder was nice to warm us up but I didn't like the flavors of this as much. The fish is salmon and haddock! The oysters were so good. I loved their balsamic mignotte and i felt that all the varieties they had were distinct from each other. Unicorns were my favorite that night then blondes. The ambiance is adorable- we got a nice table on the patio corner. It's kind of a weird spot because people are moving all around and tend to stare but once we started eating it was fine. The chairs were comfy and bouncy. The only place that this place was lacking was the service. The server was on her first week of the job and it definitely showed. A little bit forgetful and inattentive. Definitely waited a long time for some basic things like water and the check. There were some stretches we just didn't see her at all. The pineapple tea was a little bland- it needed sugar or more ginger.

    Salmon burger, halibut plate

Nice outside deck ambiance (but beware of bees), servers are very friendly and food comes out quickly. We got the mussels, salmon burger and halibut plate. Everything tasted nice and fresh but wish the portion sizes were a bit bigger. Overall decent meal!

For off season travelers wanting fresh seafood (without having to drive ~20 miles), Peekytoe Provisions is open year-round from Wednesday to Sunday, 12 - 8 pm. Those who want to prepare the seafood themselves should just head straight to the second door where they have a small market section carrying a strong selection of local and sustainably sourced fish, shellfish, and live lobsters. Those who rather have the professionals prepare it for you, the first door leads to you to various plates and brew. Then there are those...dine first, quench thy thirst, then grab more fresh seafood on the way out for later. Their story and the recently completed renovations make this place absolutely charming. Their philosophy and grit is what makes them such a success story in this area. Of course, none of this would mean anything if they didn't stick to their commitment to QUALITY every single time. Definitely recommend. Definitely will be back.

Mexican Food in Maine? Absolutely!…read more We found this amazing Mexican spot right in the middle of downtown Bar Harbor, and let me tell you the location couldn't be better! Families were walking by, live music was playing across the street, and people were sitting barefoot on the grass trying to stay grounded. Meanwhile, we were being spiritually guided by the smell of Mexican food coming from Salsa Verde Grill. It pulled us in like a tractor beam! We started with the fresh guacamole, blue corn chips, and their Christmas sauce a combination of red and green sauce. Oh man Christmas came early! That sauce was so good I almost asked for it in a cup with a straw. My wife ordered the steak burrito, and it was so big she couldn't finish it. Imagine that! I ordered the enchiladas topped with a fried egg, refried beans, and rice. Oh boy, I was stuffed but somehow kept eating like I was training for the Mexican Food Olympics. Our daughter ordered the same thing as Dad, but hers was smothered in that delicious holiday sauce. She couldn't finish hers either. My wife and daughter are a couple of wimps! Or maybe I'm just a big-backed roly-poly with no quit in me. The food was flavorful, the portions were generous, and the atmosphere was perfect. We absolutely recommend Salsa Verde Grill when visiting Bar Harbor. Come hungry, wear stretchy pants, and don't blame me when that Christmas sauce has you licking the plate. Bye-bye now!

He loved the chicken and the beef tacos. The first day he chose veggie for his 3rd and the sweet potato the next day. Those were ok, but he preferred the meat ones. Both days the servers were cheerful, friendly, and attentive. Among the sea of heavier, expensive food options in Bar Harbor, Langosta is a welcome option for something less expensive but fresh, hot, & tasty. We showed up on a Saturday at 5 o'clock end of August and got right in at Annex which is the same menu and attached. Waiters were helpful and kind, amazing people! Live music was going on at 7 but we left right before, awesome vibes doors to the outside open so it was basically an open air concept since it was a beautiful day. Clam chowder: super delicious and passed the spoon test! (I like my chowders thick so a spoon should float on top) Bangin Shrimp: seasoning and sauce were bangin! Great stuff and the buttery grilled flamed pita added a beautiful touch Cadillac fries: crispy fries with melty cheese, hot sauce, bbq sauce, chipotle mayo and toooed with bacon. We inhaled these. Mac + rac: fall off the bone rips and the Mac was killer. Mixed in with street corn added a great change up and all went so well together. Larger shells cooked perfectly and super cheesy, this was a great dish. Highly recommend, wish I could have tried the Blueberry Pie because that looks insane, was way too full after crushing the other dishes and washed down with a blueberry beer and an extra dirty martini!

However, we weren't too tired to eat it, so we had the food delivered from Side Street Cafe. So glad we did it that way cuz it was terrific... and easy to arrange ! My hubby ordered their Cubano sandwich while I ordered a cheeseburger. He loved his Cubano, which came with a side of mac 'n cheese. The mac 'n cheese was light in flavor, I think because of the kind of cheese used. I prefer more flavor, but it wasn't bad either. My( burger was quite large, and it was really tasty... very nicely seasoned beef patty, and it had all the things I like... cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle.... and catsup. I was very happy. It came with fries, but I had my fill of fries with all the lobster rolls I had ordered along the way, so I didn't eat them. Plus, there was a slice of blueberry pie calling out to me, so I wanted to blow my calories with the pie... and so glad I did cuz it was another spectacular piece of blueberry pie. Against my will, I split it with my hubby. Lol. It was a great way to end our meal. (Turns out we never got dinner that night cuz we were so full from such a nice lunch.) Side Street Cafe is definitely going on my radar if we're ever fortunate enough to return to Bar Harbor.
