My friends and I went here Saturday night on a whim after finding it on Google maps. We were greeted and seated fairly quickly in a cute little bistro. The menu looked so good that none of us could decide what we wanted, so we each ordered an appetizer and entree and shared with each other. The escargot was particularly garlicky and delicious. The duck breast was cooked perfectly, and the steak with tarragon butter was divine. But what kind of stole the show was the goat cheese cheesecake with blueberries and lemon compote for dessert. Exactly what I needed today! I started with the Salmon Chicharron, which I should have taken the sauce home. Lobster and fish taco. I asked if it was possible to have grilled fish instead of battered for a healthier take, and it was an easy request. And the thing I almost missed ordering was the chicken mole sopa. This was my favorite with the carmelized flavors. I took the dessert home bc I needed to get back for a meeting and I was surprised how well the toasted marshmallow held up. This is hands down my favorite place in the city. My wife and I have been to every "new, hot" restaurant, and we always go, "Was it better than Gourmando?" And the answer is almost always "no". Obviously eating out is expensive so we always like to try new places when we do, but this is the only place we keep coming back to year after year. The place is family-run, the staff is wonderful, and the food is just YUMMY. Chef Isaac Gamboa -- in my opinion -- is the hidden gem of Los Angeles. So when I came back to visit from Texas, I'm excited that my friend suggested this spot. Because everything was amazing . The umami Brussels sprouts are a must try . Aguachiles de camaron - AMAZING. What a wonderful find this restaurant is! I totally didn't expect to be wowed but I totally was! The food is fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. The lamb falls off the bone. It's definitely a must try! If you're thinking about visiting during the pandemic, you should know that they do a great job at keeping the tables at an acceptable social distance and the staff wears both shields and masks to keep themselves and their customers safe. Food -Salmon Sashimi (Appetizer) -light and tasty appetizer with sashimi over crispy rice. Great flavor contrast and start to the meal -Squash Blossoms (Appetizer) - my first time having squash blossoms I didn't know what to expect but these things are like crack! The texture of the blossom with the ricotta is addicting. - KFC Korean Fried Chicken (Main)- The chicken was fried nicely but was a bit bland. Usually KFC is marinated in sauce but they had it on the side. -Steak Frites (Main) - Steak was delicious and cooked well but had a lot of fat on it. The "salad" on the side was just kale and was not very enjoyable. I would like to see more variety. - Dessert- they had a delicious flan and a cake. These were both bomb! Your choice of entree, including 5oz strip steak and fries, which I chose and loved. Plus, a non-alcoholic drink. All for $25! But the star was the sweet potato taquito appetizer that we ordered. Soooooo good! Contrast in texture and flavor. The burned marshmallow fluff, which sounds weird, made them almost taste like the sweet potatoe from Thanksgiving, but with a Mexican twist. Hello. I am writing this review to let everyone know the kind of experience we had. I took my parents to this place thinking it would be a good choice. However we were fooled. They were so rude and nasty here. They got upset when we said we didn't want water. They got upset when we had questions about the menu. There are things my family and me couldn't have so we were asking questions as it was our first time there. We had so utensils or napkins at our table, When they brought out our salads they gave us spoons with it. When we asked for forks, they were rude and had attitude. We asked for some more napkins as there was only two for three people at the table. One of the ladies came over and tried to take my dad's napkin and give it to me and told us that we could share. Never came back and asked us how everything was or if we needed more refills on our drinks or wanted any more drinks a very poor choice of a restaurant to go to the gentleman stood there waiting for his tip. Today we called to just let the owner or the manager know what kind of service we experienced so that they would be able to correct it and improve it for future and instead they told us that we were bitches and we could all fuck off I'm impaled with the behavior That someone would actually say to their customer. Very big puzzle how this place is still in business. I am sure having a wine bar is the main reason. The menue promises farm to table. Not sure how far is this farm located, but the lettuce was wilted and the edges were literally brown. Discovered this restaurant thanks to DineLA and have to say we're ABSOLUTELY coming back. We tried the steak carpaccio and the market salad, which were both excellent. My steak carpaccio wet my appetite perfectly and can't wait to try it again! My girlfriend tried the NY strip steak frites and I went with the lobster tacos! Wow did that hit the spot perfectly! Everything was delicious and our server she was great. Sadly we forgot to ask her name, but we had wonderful conversations and she gave us plenty of attention. Excellent customer service and delicious foods. They had bottomless mimosas from 10-4pm (2hr limit) for $16 and had a most excellent brunch menu. A little back story, my hubby and I absolutely LOVE Prospect Gourmand (Gourmando's sister restaurant) and was craving their Gourmand Burger but realized that they only open until 4pm. We wanted to take our friends there for dinner, but when we found out that they weren't open, we found their 2nd location in Beverly Hills. Enter... Gourmando! So we headed on over there on a Saturday evening hoping to enjoy the same burger as that's what we had our hearts set on. (You could say we had a HIMYM moment, Best Burger episode.) Gourmando Burger was tasty but definitely not the same as the one at Prospect Gourmand which had crispy leeks, taking it to a whole other level. However! The service was awesome and Chancey (the co-owner with her husband) remembered us and she was such a sweetheart. We love her and look forward to dining here again to try other menu items, as the burger didn't blow us away. The burger was on the smaller side, and we found ourselves still wanting more when we were done. We knew that coming in here, that this was not a lunch/bistro spot like Prospect Gourmand. So next time, we'll definitely opt to try their other dishes as they all looked amazing. For drinks, we had their Cadillac Margarita and our friend also had a White Russian. Overall, the restaurant had a really chill vibe and everything on the menu looked great. But we will still have to give the Gourmand Burger 5/5 and from the sounds of it, they are bringing it back to Gourmando. So you can count on us being back. Let me preface by saying: I have never given a one star, and usually am very generous with my ratings; however Gourmando deserves the one star. My friend and I arrived to a nearly empty restaurant with about five tables being occupied. We were immediately greeted by a friendly woman who directed us to our table near the front. She asked our preferenxe on water as my guest and I perused the drink menu. When our sever came back I asked for a recommendation, and she highly recommended the Chef's Special. When the drink I arrived on the artistic value; however the flavor was not for me as it had a black licorice aftertaste from the absinthe (totally my fault), so if you like black licorice this is your drink. During our drinks, the server proceeded to tell us about the daily specials they had . We decided to start with the Mac n cheese which she highly recommended. Well after ample time , our sever came to apologize and said the Mac n cheese is coming out shortly; however enjoy some. Brussel sprouts in balsamic with Parmesan . The Brussel sprouts had amazing flavor, in fact was the best part of the meal. The Mac n cheese finally came out (seriously think she forgot to ring it in). Flavor was ok; however no cheese flavor it was more Mac n cream. During our appetizers we ordered dinner which I landed on the Lobster Burger. While waiting for our meals my friend and I ordered another round of drinks, and when the server brought both she told my guest, I think I made it too sweet. If you know that, why did you bring it out!? When he got his drink it got sent back; however my drink the 405 was ok but was ok but nothing great. Meh! Now for the entrees, my order came out and presentation looked great. I took one bite, and felt as I just ate a box of salt. No taste of lobster or any other time of flavor except SALT! The French fries were cold and undercooked; as if you half peeled a potatoes and left it on the counter for a few hours My friends steak was bland and missing the salt that was all over mine. We decided to get the bill immediately and leave. When we got the bill we couldn't believe it was close to $200! Not worth it! We paid; however we then realized we were charged for a pizza that we didn't even order. The server then came back with another excuse as to what happened. She told us if we didn't mind she would give us the cash back, because she would have to reprint everything; at this point we were there for an hour and fifteen minutes and wanted out! I am happy to say that the food at Gourmando is as good as when it was Prospect Goumand on La Cienega Blvd. They have a large outdoor seating area with comfortable chairs. Mmm this place is good but my only complaint would be the service. I arrived around 12:30 with my party but no one was there to seat us. The food took a while to come out and our table wasn't checked on often. The pizza was pretty good with my favorite being the sauce, personally I'd like my pizza a little crispier and for it to stay together when grabbing a slice. The pacific cod salad had perfectly battered cod that wasn't too light or heavy just a perfect balance and the right amount of seasoning to keep it interesting . I made a reservation but didn't have to as it was wide open when we arrived. Got seated and looked over the menu and wanted to order everything. Couldn't decide for a while and ended up landing on the Egg in a Blanket. My friends were also struggling to choose and we ended up choose a few extra entrees to share for the table, with some nudging from the server. Those being the ricotta blueberry pancakes and the burrata and peach plate. In addition, we also were delightfully induced to getting bottomless mimosas. Overall the food was OK. I felt that my Egg in a Blanket was somewhat one-noted. Nothing really stood out; the egg was a bit overcooked; the bread was a big tough. As for the burrata and peach, I felt the burrata was not very smooth and the peach to burrata ratio was out of wack. I felt the pancakes were great and the highlight of the entrees that I tried. As for the mimosas, this was great. They came with a bottle of champagne and some fresh squeezed OJ. Done. I feel it will be hard for them to compete against other brunch places in the area. The signage is hidden and the place was a bit hard to identify. The food had highs and lows. I was looking, craving really, for a Nicoise salad near where I was. This restaurant came into my radar. When I got there they didn't have one on the menu but proceeded to make me the most phenomenal version of it I have ever had. Since they didn't have time to hard boil an egg the chef put a little fried one on it. The green beans, olives, cherry tomatoes, potatoes, greens, wild tuna and vinaigrette dressing with a hint of lemon were perfect. It took a while to eat as I enjoyed every bite. I would come back for the same dish but now I'm curious as to what everything else tastes like. I saw some people eating some very comfort oriented food and they seemed comfortably happy. I came in today 07/23/19 with my mother, and we'd ordered: baby kale salad, French fries, a lobster taco, and two coffees (one with almond milk). I found out later, that they had actually ran out of almond milk, and Issac actually freshly strained almonds to make the milk!!!! I felt so touched, to see the care, kindness, and commitment. To sum things up, the food is great if not exceptional, the customer service on the other hand is not only lacking but offensive. Their only saving grace in the customer service area is Juan! I don't know what his role is in the restaurant but he was the only person who tried to make up for our experience. We came in at 11:30am on a Sunday for a birthday brunch with a party of 6. Upon arrival about 1/4 of the restaurant was filled. We were each offered a glass of water when we were seated. After our waters were empty for at least 15mins with no refill and 30mins into arrival, the owner came to take our order. After barking at us for our orders, making rude remarks after one friend orders her steak well done, and yelling at the birthday girl for not being ready to order in time, she storms off without taking her order. In shock, it left the party stung and speechless. After we were able to muster the courage to ask for our owner/server, we completed our order. We received our drinks and noticed that the time was already 1pm and we still had not received our food. At this time the restaurant was more crowded and we had to flag down whoever was the closest staff member and that was the hostess, Gia (sp?), we asked her about her food and her response was "i don't know. I'm not your server!" and she walked away. She was not friendly nor willing to be helpful. Finally we were able to flag Juan down to check on our food and guess what? Our food started coming out immediately as if its been cooked for a while and waiting under the heat-lamp. Luckily the food was good: shrimp&grits, steak frites, chicken&waffles, croque madam, burger&fries, and the eggs benedict. Everything was good except you can tell it had been sitting out before getting to our table. While eating nobody asked if our food was okay, they only dropped off bottles for our bottomless mimosas when we indicated that we were empty. Plates didnt get cleared so we moved our dirty dishes on to a neighboring table. Birthday cake was brought out and we sang. And the kindest thing the owner did was to slice and serve the cake. After the cake was eaten we rushed to get going for one of our friends who had a flight out of LAX at 2:30p. Is the food good enough to brush off the awful customer service? I don't think so. We drove over an hour to dine her, birthday girl is left traumatized, and our friend almost missed her flight back home. Hands down the friendliest service I've ever had at a restaurant in Los Angeles. The atmosphere is really nice and it's located in a nice little part of Beverly Hills. And the food is DELIGHTFUL :) Their french fries are a side to be reckoned with, the grilled cheese is a nice pairing of medium cheeses and a drop of sweet honey and swims wonderfully with a side of tomato soup. I found Gourmando through the DineLA promotion, and I tried out their $20 lunch menu. My brother and I ordered the steak tartare, tuna sashimi, lobster tacos, and steak frites. Let me start by saying that the ambiance is very nice. The restaurant is well-decorated, and lots of tables were filled around noon on a Tuesday. The waitresses were friendly and attentive as well. However, I think the food needs some improvement. Steak Tartare: The dish looks beautiful. The tartare is placed on the plate nicely with a ring mold, creating an elegant and sophisticated look. However, my egg yolk on top of the tartare had some raw egg white on the side. The bread that came with the dish was crispy and delicious, but the tartare itself was overseasoned. Tuna sashimi: Beautifully plated, but again was wayyyy too salty. Good thing I had the bread from the steak tartare plate, because there would be no way we could have eaten the sashimi by itself. Lobster tacos: The tacos had good lobster flavor, but there was some strange sweet tasting element inside them. Also, the black onion mixture under the tacos looked unsettling. Steak frites: The best dish I tried. Steak was perfectly cooked, seasoned perfectly, and the fries were crispy and delicious. Overall, I wouldn't be back at Gourmando for the food. In addition, they automatically charge a 20% service fee in the bill. Chef Isaac has done it again!! Gourmando is the 2nd restaurant for Chef Isaac in Beverly Hills, and it seems the right thing to do with the success of Prospect Gourmand on La Cienega. Located on Robertson and Wilshire, it is located in a bustling area close to offices and residences. The menu has a variety of items to satisfy all of walks of life and preferences. I personally ordered the Gourmando Burger, which hit the spot as I was really looking for a really good quality burger, and that's what I got. Nice, thick quality party on freshly baked bun with blue cheese. That was good!!! My family ordered a Salmon Eggs Benedict, Steak Frites and the Lamb Meatballs. They all enjoyed them. The thing we live about Chef Isaac and his menu items: They are flavorful. No blandness whatsoever. That's why we keep coming back. My wife and I ordered burgers, which were delicious. The bun, which tasted great, did not hold up to the juiciness of the burger and toppings.
