We ordered the beef teriyaki (8/10), crab ragoon (7/10), boneless spare ribs 10/10, chicken pad thai (9/10), and a side of white rice... as for drinks the kiddos both had soft drinks, I had the red sangria (7/10, bestie had the white sangria (3/10) and we both also had a Mai Tai (7/10). I hesitated to go in for lunch as we were disappointed on a take-out in 24, However a few people had mentioned that lunch was a good deal, so we went in to give it a shot. First impression, this is a large restaurant, very clean and modern with a nice long bar, The lunch specials are 12.50 - 13.50 or so. Not bad. What you get is the main dish and either fried or white rice only. No appetizer and no soup but that's fine, it's lunch and I just need to eat a normal portion of a tasty dish and that is what we got. My buddy got Yu Hsaing beef and hot n sour soup. I tasted the dish and it was delicious especially the mushrooms that had absorbed the mildly spicy yet savory sauce. I got Three Delights which was fine though I believe the shrimp was frozen and understandable as I imagine fresh deliveries were held up due to a paralyzing snowstorm. One minor complaint had to ask for duck sauce and had to ask for tea and was in fact charged for the cup of tea 1.75 I believe. Waiter nice guy, thought funny he was using the universal belt LOL it was probably a size 40 belt and he was a skinny guy maybe a 30 waist, so it did look odd. With the tip was 43 bucks, a bit more than what I like to spend at lunch, but it was a relaxing time. On the way out had a chat with I believe the owner or maybe manager very nice guy. Wanted some American Chinese food takeout for a quick pick me up from a pretty stressful day. We stopped by Gourmet Garden to try it out and ordered some classics. It's located in the Village Shoppes in Canton, super cute area. They've got a few restaurants, an Urgent Care, spas, shopping like Marshall's and the LOFT, gyms, grocery stores, flower shop, toy store, nails and much more. Love the convenience! We got: HOT AND SOUR SOUP I absolutely love hot and sour soup, but this was super bland. I was pretty disappointed by how it lacked a slightly spicy component and sour component. I just wish there was more flavor and spices in it. If it had been labeled as special egg drop soup I think that would be more appropriate. Would not get again. PU PU PLATTER An assortment of favorites, the best way to have a little of everything in my opinion. The pu pu platter came with a deep fried egg roll, fried chicken wings, crispy chicken fingers, beef teriyaki sticks, deep fried shrimp, and boneless spare ribs. The egg roll was delicious, perfectly crispy with some tasty minced pork, carrots and cabbage. The chicken wings were golden and crispy when you bit into them, but man was that meat juicy and well brined. Just delicious. The chicken fingers had the perfect crunch when you bit into them, but that batter was light and you could tell they were fried in new fryer oil. Just perfect. The chicken was moist with just enough salt. So tasty. Beef teriyaki was just classic, saucy, well flavored and tender meat on a stick. Doesn't get any better than that! Deep fried shrimp was tasty, the batter was spot on and the meat was pretty tender. The sweet dipping sauce went perfectly to complement all the fried goods. Boneless spare ribs were sooo yummy I always put them on a spoonful of pork fried rice. I'm telling you that's the way to do it! So much flavor and perfect ratio of meat in that bite! Loved their pu pu platter. CHICKEN FINGERS Gave these babies their own spotlight picture because these were some of the best chicken fingers I've had this year! I love a good crispy chicken finger, but I noticed that most of the time the batter will be deliciously crispy and have the crunch I want, but the meat was dry and unsalted. This was not the case the meat was moist and lightly salted and the dipping sauce in your mouth was just amazing. PORK FRIED RICE I've always thought of pork fried rice as one of the GOATs in American Chinese food. You have everything you could want on rice, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, BBQ pork, scrambled eggs, onions, bean sprouts, and chives. Their pork fried rice was well cooked and seasoned. Every bite was just delicious and so nostalgic. It was pretty busy when we arrived to pick up our takeout, but everyone was having a good time all around us. There's Chinese food, Japanese food with sashimi and sushi, and hibachi for an interactive dining affair here. Quite an all inclusive restaurant, very impressive. My husband and I are big fans of Gourmet Garden and they are regularly in our take-out roster. Pick up is usually quick. The food is hot and packed tight and well so you don't end up bringing home a mess. All of the food has been consistent and good each time we've gotten it. Eating in the restaurant is nice. It's modern and new looking inside - and... THEY HAVE A ROBOT. So there is the added bonus of watching the robot bring the take out from the kitchen to the host/pick up station. And I must be super simple because it never gets old. The Hibachi tables look fun, but we haven't yet given those a go. I've had some nice cocktails here in addition to all the good food. And, finally - I have never seen the Akai rice at any other restaurant. it's interesting and apparently heart healthy. Anyway. Fun restaurant. My only gripe ever is sometimes you wait a bit for the check, but after a nice dinner that's not such a bad thing. read more

OK, We've been coming here literally for years and there have been very good orders and spectacular dishes. Tonight was an exception. Not sure if it was because it was July 4th or just what, but the dinner(takeout) was not something I would go back for... I ordered our regular Yuen-Yang beef, Gong Bao chicken and more. The beef was like shredded bits and had so many hot peppers covering the dish, there was no room for the "bed of string beans" that were supposedly in there. I found about 5 beans. I scooped off about 20+ whole peppers. Seriously, they filled half the container. The chicken was unrecognizable and soggy and I questioned if it were even fully cooked. The peanuts were boiled or raw. Just bad. No taste. I am sensitive to fish smell and this dish was fishy tasting. There was obviously a "non-cook" in the kitchen tonight. I started by saying that we have been coming here for years and it pains me to think they would turn out dishes this bad. Really bad. I need to think twice about coming here again. Too bad. I had low expectations of this place while reading recent reviews. I wanted to give this place a try anyway, and think it is around 3.5/4 stars. I came across this place because I had a paper manufacture coupon. You get $5 off $30 order and $10 off $60 order. Definitely have had better crab rangoon, but it is not terrible. Chicken Chow Mein, Boneless Ribs, $9.70 - definitely won't order again, and I think they probably mixed up the order on this one. I don't think what I got was actually chow mein. Shanghai Boneless Duck [Lg.], $16.25 - will probably order it again. The sauce and flavor are very good, but not a lot of duck in the actual dish. Shrimp Pad Thai [Lg], 1$12.00 - will reorder as well. Pretty good. Hot & Sour Soup [Sm.] $5.25 - it is okay. It comes with crunchy side, which is a plus. The pork fried rice that came with the lunch special is actually pretty good. They are not drowned in soy sauce, so that was good. Overall a good meal with lots of leftover. The Google Maps direction is not very accurate. It is towards the back side of the strip mall and you may have to drive around a bit to find it. It is very spacious inside with plenty of tables. Chinese food consistently yummy. Great Peking Duck -- very crispy skin, not fatty. Had 3 different shrimp dishes -- each one unique in flavor and ingredients. Shumai (also shrimp) delicious. Excellent quality of chicken in General Gao's Chicken: all solid white meat. Staff did have limited English but we managed to communicate sufficiently. Quick & efficient service. The Friday night after-work crowd was ramping up by the time we left and because there are very few sound-dampening surfaces, it was loud. Have been getting GG takeout all through pandemic so this was first time in years actually ate In house. Very very disappointing! Their hot & sour soup has a few red pepper flakes, and zero taste. I had to add black vinegar, soy, sesame oil, white pepper and chili oil. I could have bought cheap broth at Shaw's and been more satisfied. Menu says their Shumai are "made fresh." If so, it was made several years ago and then frozen. My advice: leave it frozen! Disgusting food! People at the reception desk (take out) never greeted me, nor even told me how much was owed. Never again. Do yourself a favor: go somewhere else! read more

Meals from Gourmet Garden are always enjoyable. We have ordered scallion pancakes, spring rolls which are well made and delicious. Hot sour soup or miso soup are spot on, but they are not piping hot. I have requested the soups to be hotter while indoor dining was a thing prior to the pandemic. We have tried a variety of poultry dishes on the menu and have had no complaints. Our top favorite orders are usually their sushi (scorpion maki, new wave, rock and roll) and fried rice for takeout. Pad Thai was bland the last time we ordered. Since I stopped going to Chinatown as a protest against packaging fees, I decide to try Gourmet Garden. The takeout food was average at best but the receipt was interesting. Rice was $11.00, Rib appetizer was $13.00. The total was $25.00. Hmmm, upon investigating I discovered that they also charge a fee for takeout. Their takeout prices reflect a surcharge above the dine in price on every item. Now there are two Chinese restaurants that I will not get my business. The owners work every single night and work just as hard along side their staff. The staff is happy and entertaining. We usually sit at the bar and eat dinner. Without fail, someone we know ends up walking in this local Cobb Corner treasure! The sushi is super fresh, the food is clean and absolutely delicious! The Gourmet Garden in Canton Massachusetts - has offerings for Chinese, Japanese and Hibachi grill style food all in one location. The place is easily accessible in the Canton Center Shopping Center. The atmosphere is modern, clean and divided into the Hibachi tables, dining tables and booths and a sushi bar - as well as full service bar. We were looking for something different and decided to try this place out. Upon entry, it was clear the place does a healthy take out service and we had to wait about 4-5 minutes to be seated - as two people where processing takeout orders (should have a dedicated area or at least have a person dedicated to seating people - as the place was not that busy when we arrived.) The menu offers a variety of food options and I was pleased to see gluten free, vegetarian and other specialized food on the menu. The drink selection was also good. My main negative comment (before I get into the food) was the service. The waitress (server 2) was not motivated, didn't smile and "robotic like" took our orders. As soon as she got what she needed - she disappeared. During the time we were there - as quickly as she delivered the food or drinks - she disappeared. She did not come and check on us or even offered another drink after we got our first ones. We then needed Soy Sauce and after trying to politely wave her down - she never looked our way, we stood up to take the soy sauce from the bar that we were seated near. When the check came - it was again a hit a run approach with very little interaction. With that said - the manager or owner I did see walk to tables to see how things were (he missed ours). So very low marks for service. I ordered the Hot and Sour soup - it had all the traditional items I would expect, but the flavor was lacking and needed soy sauce or salt - kind of bland. We also ordered wings - which were hot and favorable - the dipping sauce was a nice addition. For dinner I ordered the 5 spice shrimp - which medium sized shrimp - kind of flattened out - and topped with sauce. They were surprisingly flavorful and not dried out....but the plate had very little to accompany it - so I ordered the "House Rice" - again - the only drawback was the rice was a little overcooked (soft-mushy to the taste) and lacked seasoning. I also ordered the grapefruit martini - at first I could not really taste the Vodka - as the grapefruit syrup and flavoring was a little overbearing - but I will tell you the alcohol was in it - so it would be one of those drinks you would have to be careful not to have too many....it could have been much colder than it was - it was close to room temp when I got it. My wife ordered the chicken lettuce cups. These were good - great crisp lettuce (see pictures) and filling was very ample - but again - lacked a touch of seasoning that would have brought the flavor alive. The ingredients were fresh and the serving size in the lettuce cup was more than I have experienced in other places. She also had the dumpling soup - the dumpling was flavorful and cooked right - the the rest of the soup lacked flavor, even though it looked great when we got it. Be prepared, when visiting this place, as the Hibachi area is alive and loud and can be distracting to people in the dining area. There was only 1 hibachi table when we were there - but it was a party and the group was being well entertained. I am interested in returning to Gourmet Garden in Canton, MA to experience that - as it appears to me that's the fun part of the restaurant. The Hibachi cooks were entertaining and I heard applause and laughing throughout the meal. I also looked at YELP prior to going and seen great pictures of the Sushi - so that may be another reason to try this place again. Overall - the food from the main dining area was OK - not spectacular, but could have with a little more seasoning overall to bring up the flavor. The big plus was the cleanliness of the food, and the serving size was very ample and was fresh. However, the service was lacking and made it difficult to have a great experience - I had seen a lot of people standing around and just did not seem to be engaged for a Friday night. Dinner here was absolutely awful. We ordered beef moo shi, chicken pad Thai, and salmon maki and not a single order was prepared remotely well. The pad Thai had no sauce. I don't mean the sauce was bland, I don't mean there wasn't enough sauce. I mean they gave us a container filled with boiled white noodles, boiled chicken, crushed peanuts and NO SAUCE. None. The moo shi consisted of soggy beef and cabbage drenched in a watery, bland sauce and 'pancakes' which were flour tortillas you'd find in an Old El Paso taco kit. Again, steamed and soggy. The salmon roll wasn't completely rolled. They didn't come undone, the nori and rice just didn't reach all the way around the salmon. Every single dish was insultingly terrible. You certainly have your choice at Gourmet Garden - Chinese, Japanese, Thai, sushi, Beni Hana style theatrical hibachi - but it makes me suspicious of any authenticity. The restaurant was packed on a Saturday night but our food (spinach tofu soup, egg foo young and family style tofu) was just okay but tasteless. The waitstaff seemed harried and to be perfectly honest, the place is a bit of a mess. While we waited for our table to be ready, we were asked to sit on a bench in an area crammed with boxes and dirty dishes. Zero ambience although the cat robot moving around the restaurant serving food and dropping off bags of takeout was sorta cute. read more

I was extremely satisfied with my experience. Went with three others for Hibachi and were sat immediately. Another couple joined shortly after and service was under way quickly. If you've been to Hibachi, you know that sometimes you end up waiting for a "full table". This was not the case here. Very fast service. Before my drink was even complete, the server was asking what else he could get for me. Awesome to not have to look around for your server. He was always right there and very attentive. Even allowed me to order something that I had seen on the menu online but wasn't on the menu we were given (Tuna Tataki). The sushi was absolutely delicious and so delicately put together. Great presentation. I did share my boyfriends chicken Hibachi with him. This too was well flavored and the show given with dinner was very professional.
