Stopped in for late lunch special . Many families dining for the hot pot styles luncheon. Ordered the delight of three with option for beef teriyaki. Ordered small appetizer of bbq ribs. Reasonable prices . The ribs were surprisingly good, beefy, nice char and moist. Beef teriyaki had good flavors . The delight of three was abundant amount of food. I would have liked more spice or flavored to the sauce. The fried rice had a lot of beef in it vs. . Pork which was fine . I surmised that was the Japanese version of fried rice as they have Japanese, hot pot, Chinese menu. I'll visit again . Nice little hotpot and sushi place near downtown Norwood! Went on a cold night to warm us up a bit and it did just that. We had two of the meat combos, and it came with the vegetables which was quite nice! The quality of the meat and vegetables were just alright. The service was quick and they were very nice. The only thing that makes it difficult to rate this higher is the prices. The price is pretty steep for hot pot meat, as well as needing to pay for the soup bases on top of it. Unfortunately, this place is just average for us, so it won't be replacing any favorites of ours. read more

Rating: 4.0 Came to try for dinner during visiting a friend nearby since the friend had been there and liked it. It's located along the main street in Norwood downtown area. Parking is street parking only. Inside is smaller than expected but can still accommodate quite a bit of people . There were some customers there but was joy too busy so we were seated right away. We ordered fried octopus, yong chow fried rice, sesame chicken, and mapo tofu. The foods were pretty good overall. Mapo tofu was savory and tasty. Yong chow fried rice and sesame chicken was decent. Fried octopus was pretty good. Only down side was that the sesame chicken didn't have a-lot of meat inside . The service was good and waitress was helpful. Overall the place is a solid asian restaurant thats affordable and tasty. I did not get the hot pot so I can't speak about their hot pot but the food overall was decent and price was reasonable. Food here is very good. The lunch specials are not as high quality as the food made to order. I have not tried the hot pot but their Chinese food is good and sushi is too. Eating in is much better than their takeout. The menu is pretty large and the price is not too bad for the portions. The parking can be a little tricky too. read more

We went in after being at the park for a couple of hours. We were greeted immediately. We both decided to get the hot pot, which we never had before. My husband and I both ordered the seafood platter. I ordered the seafood, ginger and cilantro broth and he ordered the spicy. We both ordered the vermicelli (rice) noodles. They had a divider in the pot so we could each have our preference. The seafood and vegetables were so fresh and our waitress explained what everything was, how to fix dipping sauce to our taste etc. it was a huge portion of food. It's right in downtown Norwood, street parking and there are public lots around as well. It's small inside but when I went on a Friday evening for dinner there was no wait. Service was nice, she was available but didn't hover. Funny enough she over heard my friend say there was no fortune in her fortune cookie and brought another one. Food was great. We got hot pot. I got the meat combo that came with two choices of protein, choice of broth base and noodle. It also came with assorted veggies for the soup. Broth bases were all at an upcharge which I don't remember seeing at other places usually basic broths are included with the combo and the more complex ones may have an upcharge. Veggie selection was okay, not the freshest veggies I've seen but they weren't bad. Meat portion was very generous. I never write a review BEFORE I have their food, but today is an exception. This place is awesome and staff is so friendly and welcoming...I instantly felt at home . I ordered some standard dishes: chicken wings, fried rice, and lo mien because after seeing them at the Norwood Day fair this September I knew exactly what to expect. So now that the weather's cooler, we decided to try the hot pot menu at Shabu Lee. And it was good, satisfying and filling! We opted for 3 combos: the prime ribeye, fatty beef, and pork; and opted for the basic pork-based broth. For each combo, you get a plate of the desired meat, a vegetable basket (comprising napa cabbage leaves, watercress, spinach leaves, enoki mushroom, woods-ear mushroom, slices of taro and daikon, a section of corn cob), and choice of noodles (we took the rice vermicelli). I must say, for the 3 of us, this amount of veggies and noodles was too much (a good problem, though ...). Next time, I'd order 2 combos for the 3 of us and add an ala carte meat or seafood plate. The meats were good and as mentioned, the amounts were generous and filling. And the broth after all the shabu-shabu-ing, was delicious. We enjoyed the meal very much! It was a cold day and was craving hot pot. The restaurant is small and it seems like takeout was popular during dinner. We only saw street parking which is plentiful. The owner was very friendly and attentive. We ordered the kimchi hot pot soup base with Japanese ramen noodles, beef, enoki mushrooms, bok choy and assorted tofu. The soup base was good and I didn't notice it being spicy. The beef was cut in large slices and most of the items were frozen as expected besides the bok choy. Best Sushi and Chinese around!! The service is usually super fast as well which is nice. I've always done take out. My Sushi favorites are the hungry maki roll and the crazy maki roll. I also like the spicy mango salad with tuna. The regular rolls are good as well like the Philly roll, Cali roll, tuna roll. The Chinese food: the apps are really good. I Love the beef teriyaki. The chicken fingers, peeking raviolis and crab rangoons are all very good there. The Pad Thai is tasty. The lo mein and chow mein are both good. General Gau's chicken and orange beef are good. Exceptional! A quiet, well-lit, unassuming place run by serious experts who know how to properly prepare Asian cuisine. The sushi was the best I have ever had. My friend and I had a vast assortment. My test is always the spider maki and it didn't disappoint. I enjoyed the smoked sake, unagi too. Also had soups and cooked dishes. We were warmly welcomed, waited on almost immediately and were quickly served an appetizer and two main dishes. The Marco Polo Delight was a delight, with plenty of shrimp and beef and it was accompanied by nicely fried egg noddles. The Vegetable Delight was a great counterpoint to the Marco Polo with many varieties of veggies, perfectly steamed. Our waitperson was helpful and quick to smile, which is always nice. Amazingly, our total tab, with the 10% discount for paying cash, was a mere $26! I took some home and had a nice lunch the following day, too. By far the best Japanese, Chinese restaurant in the vicinity. Their specialty roles are some of the best sushi I had, better than most hot spots in Boston. Their menu is extensive and they make everything taste good. If you like hot pot they offer a great selection for that as well. read more

Shabu lee is a small Japanese/ Chinese restaurant located in downtown Norwood. This little place serves some of the most amazing food with very reasonable prices. I've never had to chance to dine in at this place due to this on going pandemic but, I've had takeouts from Grubhub and Uber eats from this place. The food is delicious and the portion size is decent enough. The prices are decent as well. I've tried their wonton dumpling noodle soup, spring rolls and egg rolls and all were fantastic and yum. I'd surely order again from this place and try some more of their offerings. I'd recommend this place to anyone who wants a decent Chinese/ Japanese meal at a reasonably affordable price point. read more

This review is only for hot pot... both the miso and the Tom Yum broths lacked any flavor. My sister and I shared the surf and turf combo for lunch and it was just OK for the price. The veggies that came with it could have been fresher (cabbage, spinach, watercress, tree ear, enoki mushrooms, corn, tomato, taro). The one good thing was that the udon came out hot... versus the clump of sticky cold udon noodles at other places. My Thai iced tea didn't hit the spot either. Service was fine and it was pretty quiet as there was just one other table. The broth is such an important part of hot pot and because of that I would not return for hot pot. For south shore, I like Shabu restaurant in North Quincy the best and Royal Hot Pot as a backup option. read more
