    Dinner special

Food here is very good. The lunch specials are not as high quality as the food made to order. I have not tried the hot pot but their Chinese food is good and sushi is too. Eating in is much better than their takeout. The menu is pretty large and the price is not too bad for the portions. The parking can be a little tricky too.

Hot pot with divider for two different broths

We went in after being at the park for a couple of hours. We were greeted immediately. We both decided to get the hot pot, which we never had before. My husband and I both ordered the seafood platter. I ordered the seafood, ginger and cilantro broth and he ordered the spicy. We both ordered the vermicelli (rice) noodles. They had a divider in the pot so we could each have our preference. The seafood and vegetables were so fresh and our waitress explained what everything was, how to fix dipping sauce to our taste etc. it was a huge portion of food. The restaurant itself is nothing fancy, not much in the way of decor but the food is what counts.

Hot pot on a cool autumn day!

So now that the weather's cooler, we decided to try the hot pot menu at Shabu Lee. And it was good, satisfying and filling! We opted for 3 combos: the prime ribeye, fatty beef, and pork; and opted for the basic pork-based broth. For each combo, you get a plate of the desired meat, a vegetable basket (comprising napa cabbage leaves, watercress, spinach leaves, enoki mushroom, woods-ear mushroom, slices of taro and daikon, a section of corn cob), and choice of noodles (we took the rice vermicelli). I must say, for the 3 of us, this amount of veggies and noodles was too much (a good problem, though ...). Next time, I'd order 2 combos for the 3 of us and add an ala carte meat or seafood plate. The meats were good and as mentioned, the amounts were generous and filling. And the broth after all the shabu-shabu-ing, was delicious. We enjoyed the meal very much! Wait staff was very pleasant and helpful in explaining items; the built-in induction burner for the hot pot was easy to use, easy to adjust the temperature, and was safe - never had a concern for burning yourself (I imagine this would be great for kids' safety).

It was a cold day and was craving hot pot. The restaurant is small and it seems like takeout was popular during dinner. We only saw street parking which is plentiful. The owner was very friendly and attentive. We ordered the kimchi hot pot soup base with Japanese ramen noodles, beef, enoki mushrooms, bok choy and assorted tofu. The soup base was good and I didn't notice it being spicy. The beef was cut in large slices and most of the items were frozen as expected besides the bok choy. Really appreciated the induction hot plate and 10% discount when paying cash.

Hot pot. Prime rib, veggies and shrimp.

Food and service. This place really treats you like family and there is something to be said for that. The food is excellent. If you are looking for something new and haven't tried hot pot I highly recommend it. It is healthier as all of the food is cooked in broth table side. Their sushi is ALWAYS and I repeat ALWAYS fresh. We haven't gotten a single thing we did not like after 3 years of coming here from takeout to dining in. There are some abrasive clients and this area and I always see them handle all people with grace and kindness. This the spot to support.

Very bad Chinese food. Not sure why the reviews are decent. All of our food was not fresh and low quality.

We started by ordering drinks and 3 rolls of sushi. I didn't get their names since we just told them to bring out their best ones, which I think they interpreted as best sellers. All were very delicious, and the presentation was lovely. We all chose to do the hibachi; with some combination of filet mignon, chicken, steak, shrimp, or scallops. They started with making the rice, followed by the noodles (optional but $4 more per person), then the meat, and later the vegetables. They got everyone's order correctly and did a fantastic job of rationing the portions so that everyone got about the same. They also performed all the tricks including the eggs toss, the onion volcano /train, and tossing food / liquids into people's mouths. I found that because they make everything separate, my rice and noodles were cold by the time my meat and veggies were ready. It's a blessing and curse that you can see them cook in front of you. Blessing because you know how your food is being handled and can see the freshness of it, but a curse because you realize all your food is being cooked with the same "seasonings"/sauces. I personally thought it was a bit bland, but everything tasted fresh. The yum yum sauce was initially sweet, but after that, I couldn't pin point the flavor. Overall, it was a good time. Food quality I would say 3 stars, but ambiance and service is 4.5 stars. I think it's a good setting for corporate events. We didn't get any, but upon request it seems like they were blowing up little reindeer antler head bands. When we paid, they also gave us a gift card to use at a future visit which was nice.

No one was offered another drink or allowed to finish eating. She stacked new plates onto our area so she could set the table! Our bill with tip was $850 plus we tipped both chefs $50 each!!! I am disgusted! They knew it was a special birthday and she was plain nasty!!!

Did a lunch visit with a friend, going our own way with lunch combos and adding a couple of full-order appetizers. -- Spareribs on the Bone: St Louis cut ribs with ruby red glaze, just a bit of char, and a clear honey glaze to sweeten things further. Not the meatiest, not the juiciest, and not the most tender, but they got the job done, thanks to the very pleasing flavor. These have the potential to be stellar at night. As sampled, above average to well above average, even with the flaws. -- Egg Rolls: Extra crunchy exterior and a soft, stringy assortment of both cabbage and celery for greenery, accented with pork. Above average. -- Chicken Wing (the included appetizer on a combo): Not dark of skin, but still crispy. A bit dry. Kinda plain, with discernible but light marinade. Average to slightly below average. -- Hot and Sour Soup: Not many mushrooms or other fillers. Mostly thick, weirdly gloppy broth and some scallions. Spice present, flavors good, textures not so good. Balances out to average. -- Szechuan Style Chicken with Peanuts: Other than having the two ingredients listed in the name, it didn't seem like similarly named dishes or kung pao. Pea pods standing in for celery. Chicken was high quality and the flavors were appealing, with spice coming through and a hoisin-equestrian undercurrent adding depth. A little above average even if different. -- General Gao's Chicken: My friend's lunch combo. He said it was heavy on the breading and had one-note sweetness. A mixed bag, but a worthy visit if you need something in the area. Lunch specials at $11.95 have a more than fair amount of food, so a good value. But it's those spareribs that'll bring me back. Attentive service. Parking in back of the building.

My sister and I have gone twice since they opened a few weeks ago. I am the kind of person that likes to eat raw fish over cooked fish and do not like sugar in my tea. Food&Drinks: the BYO poké bowls are my favorite. The fish is fresh enough that it doesn't smell fishy or oceany. The toppings are all delicious and fresh. Although, I wish it were a little bit more chilled when served. The sushi rice is a bit over cooked but still okay. Drinks are great! Haven't had a bad drink yet! My go to is the Iced Matcha and the A-Oolong tea w/ cheese foam. The strawberry matcha latte and drip coffee are also yummy! Service: staff is friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Wish the fan wasn't sitting in front of the "wanna poké?" sign...still haven't been able to get an aesthetic photo of that wall! Very inviting! Overall: I treat places that sell raw fish very seriously, knowing how bad food poisoning can be. I really like pokemoto and looseleaf tea's concept. I also believe that if you haven't had raw fish or real tea before, this would be the place to start!
