Another fun "2-3 star/5 star" review…read more First, you guys REALLY need to clean up the area at the back of the place...we park in the county lot after 6 when it's legal and walking in that way is, frankly, gross. 2 star worthy Asked for a Miller Lite. Out. Asked for another beer on the menu. Out. Now Maddie our server (6 star worthy) made it right, was super cheerful/"embarrassed" and bought me a bar drink to make up for it...so no big deal...BUT wanted the Big Fish...OUT. Wanted fish and chips...OUT. Two of your more popular dishes I bet...wth???? Now the FUNNIEST thing? Couldn't get our bill because...you guessed it...receipt paper for the printer? OUT. 2-3 star worthy. Now, what we were able to scrounge off the menu? Really good as usual. Enjoyed ourselves, Maddie and one of her colleauges (they seem to have had all the tables by themselves?) were uber friendly and fun and made us chuckle about the situation, and other things so we had a light hearted, nice time. (5 star worthy) But guys. This isn't normal. (Right?)

Me and my girlfriend went for a quick late lunch, focusing on appetizers and some beer. As far as…read moreatmosphere goes, cute outside seating and decent vibes. But ambiance doesn't cut it alone. Albeit only ordering two appetizers and two beers, the apps we ordered were NOT good. We ordered the 1lb mussels and the nachos with added beef. The mussels were in a butter garlic sauce with what tasted like white cooking wine or champagne(???) that was NOT all the way simmered, it was bitter and extremely sour. The mussel meat was all but ruined and swimming in this weird butter sour soup, basically drinking champagne with mussels. For $15, Easily 1/10 and not acceptable(stay away). The nachos which were $14 and for an additional $7(chicken) or $6(beef) they weren't terrible, but not great either. We got the beef add-on, and the beef was charred and dry, it appeared as if they just let the beef sit under a heat lamp for a few hours, it was black but didn't taste burnt. The nachos had some semi-dry cheese sauce with pico de gallo spread on top and came with a side of sour cream in a black plastic cup (which was fine). The best part about the nachos were what seem to be home made chips, those were quite nice actually. But because of the charred/dry beef it quickly became too salty. Portion size was good so maybe sharing with at least 3-4 people, not sure anyone would notice how salty it can get. For $20, 4/10. Our server was fine, at one point he disappeared for ~15-20 minutes when we were ready to close out but overall service was normal. The beer was also fine, nothing abnormal. Could have been a bit colder if I had to be nit picky. This was our first and last time unfortunately, had decent hopes considering it's in such a premier location in downtown Sanford. We will not be returning as there are much better options on this strip and if any would like to try them(based on this review) AVOID THE MUSSELS.

Well balanced flavors and textures. Our server Justin was very attentive and helpful the entire night. He helped us decide everything from drinks and appetizers to entrees and desserts. He was very knowledgeable, descriptive, and accurate on his recommendations. The ambiance is perfect for a date night, drinks with friends, or any event really. They have lots of tables, a large bar, and even a private area if you have the need for it. We got two mocktails because we were participating in dry January. I got the passion fruit Boat Drinks and my wife got the Hibiscus Nojito. Both drinks were really good! To start we got the French Onion soup and the Pig and the Bee flatbread. Both were really tasty. The French Onion soup was nicely balanced with the perfect amount of cheese on top. Next time we'll ask for more croutons. The flatbread was delicious!! It was the thinnest, crispiest flatbread I've ever had with the right amount of toppings. The salty and savory meats with the drizzle of hot honey was perfect. For entrees my wife got the Sweet Potato Gnocchi with Shrimp and I got the Staff Meal which happened to be a Chicken and Bacon carbonara...the gnocchi was incredible. The textures and flavors were amazing. The carbonara was really good too but the gnocchi stole the show. For dessert we got a latte and a cappuccino and got the Cherry Cobbler to go. I reheated the cobbler in a ramekin in my air fryer, it was so delicious!! We will definitely be back!

I've never been to a place that serves a classic American farm breakfast without offering butter or preserves for the toast, and to make matters worse, the toast itself was burnt. The food overall was bland and uninspired. When one of us asked for jelly and butter, our server seemed genuinely surprised and confused by the request. He eventually brought the butter out cold and completely unspreadable. This is yet another mid-to-upscale wannabe restaurant that got the most important thing wrong. Save yourself the disappointment and skip this one. You'll thank me later.

Spacious but not as much as some other places in the area. I was thinking that it would have a park/picnic vibe which is not quite accurate. We met friends from out of town on a Saturday afternoon and after sitting down and taking it in, decided to just have drinks and go elsewhere for dinner. The menu had a variety of drinks, including wine, beer, cocktail and mocktail options. Appetizers and main course are a bit more than burgers, hotdogs and bbq, it's like a cookout with flair and the options definitely had an urban hipster vibe. I can't comment on food freshness, quality or flavor since I didn't try any food. I had a cocktail and it was good. Not far from the bar, little kids were playing. They seem to be catering to parents of both, little people and fur babies. There were a couple pups. Mixing drinking adults in a pet friendly/kid play area was a new concept to me. There was a little football being tossed around and quite near the table. Our server seemed a little stressed/annoyed, possibly because we weren't sure about staying and possibly because of the little football being tossed around. No complaints really. Now I know what to expect. It's a great option for the target clientele, if not too full or busy. Just like at a park, you want to keep a sharp eye on your little ones as they play. Wish I'd had a similar type of place when mine were little that I could've met my single friends at. Easy to meet other parents too, I suppose. Imagine a fancy backyard cookout without the worry of cleaning up afterwards.

Today we stopped back in to support their Toy Drive, I have to say Sean, his team, and sponsors put on an exceptional event. Supporters brought in donations that exceeded what the Ace Café Team expected, which was great. The Ace Café team needed to reevaluate the donation layout to make additional room for everything coming in; what a way to support a toy drive! The event started at 2pm and went until 9pm. Some of the best local bands from the area played including The New Collective, Razors Edge, Papa Wheelee, Jette County Dragsters, and Paradoxxx. Each band played near an hour set with a short break in between to allow for setup of the next band. The musicians and sound team were on point, good job everybody. While enjoying the event we ordered several Yuengling black and tan's ($7) and of course some 16oz PBR's ($4.50) because why not? We also got the fish and chips platter which was perfect for the occasion ($21). The tempura battered fish was delicious and I love the big steak fries especially when they are freshly made. Our order was out in 10-minutes which is amazing especially when staff are taking care of several hundred people in a crazy rock-n-roll environment. Staff were super friendly and attentive. They also kept the restaurant and restrooms clean the duration of the event, great job Ace Team! Ace Café has a great thing going and I hope they keep the fun-train going. We look forward to supporting them at the next event like this one, a bike night, or for just a nice dinner out. Great job Sean and the Ace Café team, thanks for making Sanford the great town that it is. We will be back!

But if the best thing about a restaurant is how it looks, it's doubtful this place can survive. The service was atrocious. Our waitress was pleasant enough while taking our orders. Which was the last time we saw her for the duration of our hour-long meal in a less than half full restaurant. We asked questions as first-timers; she said she could and would accommodate us; then she disappeared without ever coming back. Truly an unsolved mystery. The food was ok. The portions were fair. If only we had a server available for silverware; a second round of drinks; and dessert. Disappointed to experience such a lousy evening in a place that with just a little effort could be so much better. Since this place appears to be a full-service restaurant, and based on the dearth of service we received, we seriously doubt we'll return.

Had to get bloodwork done at 6:30am, so afterwards we were close to here and craving breakfast, so it was a no-brainer to stop in here. Having been born and raised in Mississippi, I am always on the hunt for some good southern homestyle cooking and I for sure found it here. First, everything about the outside and inside of the restaurant reminded me of all the lil mom and pop restaurants I was raised going to. Great nostalgia for me. Now was the food going to live up to what the place looked like?? YES! So I went in craving breakfast and then what did my little eye spy on the menu? An open-faced roast beef sandwich and they service breakfast and lunch all day? Well, yes, please and thank you! Forget brekkie, I went straight for that open-faced roast beef with fried and all of it covered in gravy. OH MY! I'm talking this is the kinda food that (as we say in the Deep South) makes you wanna slap your momma! The bread was piled high with fresh roast beef. The fries were steak fries which are my favorite. The gravy topping everything was just the chef's kiss to set everything off! So many things I want to try on the menu, but I think it's going to be a while before I order anything other than that open-faced roast beef! Hubby had scrambled eggs, toast, hash (his fav brekkie food and he asked for it crispy - they delivered), and breakfast potatoes. He said everything was great and that it's the best hash he's had. I have never been a fan of hash, but I always try it. This has I would definitely eat. It was good. Can't say I'd order it myself because I'm just not a fan, but if this is the breakfast that was served to me, I definitely wouldn't turn my nose up at it. Anyway, two big thumbs up from hubby. Wheelchair friendly. Clean restrooms. Great service from our attentive and sweet server. Food came out very fast. I also much mention the Diet Coke. You know how some are just better from certain fountains? Yes, this was one of those cold fountain Coke's that was just so good. It really hit different. I ordered water as per usual because I try to not drink soda too much, especially while I eat, but hubby mentioned how good it was so, of course I had to try it. He was right. Very good indeed. If you are in the area, don't miss out on this lil restaurant. You will not be disappointed! The only negative thing I can say is they are only open until 3pm on weekdays and only until 2pm on the weekends. Guess that's a good complaint though. LOL Sure wish they were open for dinner too b/c we'd really be eating here a lot!!

We started with cheese curds and both decided on sandwiches. I did a tuna melt on rye with Swiss, my sister ordered the market club. Both were delicious. Fries, tots and onion rings are side choices. Daily specials and soups are available. The service was spot on, def a place to become a regular at! Can't wait to go back and try something else.
