Went there last night with another couple. My friend had the honey glazed salmon and a beet salad. Her husband and I both had the Blackened Redfish, crawfish grits and gravy. My husband had the Bean, kale soup which he said is probably the best soup he's ever eaten! Everything was Amazing 5+ stars on the food. The service was pretty good. The restaurant is nicely decorated but the acoustics were horrible. It WAS SO LOUD that it made the dining experience suffer greatly. We sat upfront to avoid the noise but could barely hear one another across the table. But again the food was wonderful. Not a single dish disappointed. This time we started with the Bone Marrow Canoe, which was definitely something different and interesting to try. We also had the wedge salad, which was fresh and nicely put together. We had 7:30 reservations for a Saturday night as a party of 4. We were seated after 5 minutes of us arriving. It was a lively evening and the restaurant was full, The waiter was pleasant and he got our food out so quick! Windy Tuesday evening with pending rain so opted for someplace to sit down inside. Really nice mid-upscale with nice old school bar. Business supper so set at high top in the bar area. No reservations but seated immediately. Super sweet staff. Bobby had the flank steak and it looked good but I had the huge chop. Delicious. I went here with my friend when it first opened during a weekday. He was excited cause he saw there drink specials online & said let's try it. There was one lady in the restaurant and we asked her if we could sit at the bar she said no problem. She asked if we want a drink & everything we saw online they did not offer. The Bartender told us there was new owners. You would think with New owners the first thing they would do is create their restaurant online. It was just bland of an atmosphere blank walls the bar tap area looked old & dirty. Again, we wanted to order something that we saw online. The bartender again proceeded to tell us new owners for last six months, and what was online is not what the Restaurant offered. It just felt like she kept giving us excuse after excuse & didn't wanna deal with us. Every time we tried to talk to her she would walk away. She seemed like a good employee, but did not want anything to do with us. It was a shame. The food was OK. She had another patron that walked in that sat next to us at the bar and you could tell that they were locals that went there a lot because she was definitely paying a lot of attention to them brought them their happy hour appetizers and drinks and brought them bread (there's no side for bread) just doing a little nice things for them while she didn't give a darn about us I would not return to this place due to the bartender's attitude and the way she treated all the patrons differently. read more

Great meal and bar! It's a hidden gem if you're passing through on the highway, you need to work your way into town, but it's worth a visit!

Plans didn't work out so we ended up here instead, I've always wanted to try it so this was the perfect opportunity. I ordered the fish Nawlins style, which comes prepared with a creamy sauce, fish and crawfish on top of a grit cake. The sauce and spices were perfect together, and the grit cake was the best I've ever had. Also had a Margarita which was also very delicious. I absolutely loved the food here at The District! My wife and I both got the short rib for our entree and it melted in your mouth. The drinks are top notch as well. The service there was fantastic as well, very friendly and personable and another good reason for a return trip. The District is an attractive and comfortable restaurant and bar with delicious cocktails and quality ingredient entrees. I highly recommend the Spiked Blueberry Lemonade - one of the best cocktails I've had in years. My filet was good, but, to date, I've never had a filet mignon snag the title from my favorite OG cantina on Colonial (IYKYK). Would I return? Yes - likely for the Braised Short Rib with mushroom risotto. My server, Katie, was lovely and, worth the mention, the water here is excellent!
