Wow these guys are a complete joke! I sent in my Hamilton Khaki Pilot to get an estimate for repair. Tons of shadiness with this company. 1) their repair estimate was $600! That's more than the watch costs brand new! 2) They specifically said that the watch crystal was scratched. Interesting since it's a newer watch with a stock SAPPHIRE crystal (the most scratch resistant crystal you can buy)! 3) I sent my watch in a plastic ziplock bag with the screws and little metal retainers to hold the movement in place. The message for the inspection says that the watch is missing the screws and retainer tabs! If you don't want to get back all of the pieces of your watch that you sent then Govberg is the company for you! Who knows how much it's going to cost me just to get those screws from Hamilton! Poor Experience Watch buying and the 'make an offer' can best be described as a joke. If you want to buy a watch at the price listed on the website, no sales tax is charged in the cart when shipping out of state. Make an offer lower than the sales price, using the tool on their website and suddenly, a 10% sales tax is added. They could be more transparent and just say 'this is the discount we are prepared to offer' as opposed to hiding the difference in a sales tax they don't have to charge. read more

No integrity. No customer appreciation. I gave clear instructions to the Govberg employee about the repair of my 30 year old Rolex. When the watch was finally returned, it had not been repaired as I had requested - a huge mistake that ruined the sentimental value of the watch. I learned that the original employee had subsequently been fired for what Govberg admitted to be poor service and numerous mistakes. However, Govberg just made excuses for the employee's error. Probably the most obnoxious Rolex dealer I've ever had to deal with. I've bought many higher-end watches from authorized dealers in the past - Rolex, Omega, IWC, among some lesser-known brands such as Sinn. Sometimes I've also purchased ones second-hand from people privately, and the way I verify the authenticity is by checking the original receipt with the serial number. This is the industry-standard way to authenticate a Rolex -- either you ask an authorized dealer to crack the case and examine the movement, or, if it's over the phone, you can them if the serial number is genuine. It helps if you have the original receipt. Recently, I purchased a Submariner-C no-date (114060) from an individual and wanted to call to authenticate. When I called Govberg, they said they couldn't confirm the authenticity, even though I've done it this way with every other Rolex Authorized Dealer in the past 15 years, because "they couldn't discuss the confidential information of a prior purchaser." I don't need the confidential information - I just need a "Yes, we sold that watch" or "No, we didn't." I already have all the information! Then I asked if they could simply authenticate the serial number, which other authorized dealers have told me that Rolex requires them to do. They also said no. Finally, I called back a second time to speak with the salesperson directly. He said, and I state verbatim, "Were you calling to buy a Submariner?" When I explained that I was looking for an authentication, he said, "Didn't you already call once? I already told you we can't talk about a customer." Wow. Really. Amazing. I have never, EVER had such poor service from a Rolex dealer before. Govberg might have an internal store policy not to discuss prior purchases, and even one to not authenticate (although Rolex tells them to), but the icing on the cake was the abrasive attitude I got from this guy. If I was going to drop $8,000 on a new watch, I think you should know that any fawning you might get before you buy will be counterbalanced with the poor attitude you get after. For example, James & Sons in Chicago are a MUCH better luxury watch dealer. I've bought from them in the past and have always been happy -- both before and after I give them my money. I sent my wife's watch to them months ago. It took forever, there was mass miscommunication and a level of insensitivty from Jen. We got the watch back and it stopped working within hours. Sent it back and was told t would be pushed to the top of the list. I doubt that ocuured becuase it took them 2 weeks to tell me a screw broke and that was the issue. Still don't have the watch. I bought a Patek Philippe watch and a Cartier from Govberg. Since retiring I only wear my Patek once or twice a year, so I decided to sell my Patek, which is in mint condition. I was told by Victoria (Ardmore, PA) that they would be happy to buy the watch, but they could only offer me "less than $8,000". Since I have a replacement appraisal from them for $12,000 I decided to sell the watch myself on eBay. Selling on eBay was more involved than I wanted, so I contacted Victoria (7/18) and told her I wanted to sell the Patek back to them. I called her today (7/25) and asked what the final purchase price would be. If she was saying "less than $8,000" I figured somewhere around $7,500. She then told me they would be willing to purchase the watch for $6,000! That's a LOT less than $8,000. She told me she didn't mention $6,000 at first because "she didn't want to insult me." I explained that I was insulted, and this sounded a lot like bait and switch. She said this is how the salespeople are told to handle purchases such as mine. "This is what I was told to say by my manager." I then asked to speak w/ the store manager and was told he was not available. I then asked for the owner's (Danny Govberg) phone number, and she told me she didn't know his number but would happy to transfer my call. She transferred me and suddenly I was in an anonymous voice mailbox. As many people have said in other reviews, I would suggest anyone thinking of making a purchase at Govberg's to find another jewelry store. If I had read some of these reviews when I was looking to buy the watches, I certainly would have gone elsewhere. This many people cannot all be wrong, look elsewhere... read more

This Company does business with pawnshops, which mean they may have stolen watches. Think about getting a low ball offer and then they raise the price. A lot of reviews are good, there are many bad reviews. Do not get taken by fair trade either. I was a secret shopper and they basically failed on customer service. Rule number one: never argue with the customer. Rule number two: common courtesy Rule number 3: Never let the person due a comparison because they look on other websites that gives the lowest amount, hence fraud. During their annual sale in October, Goveberg (Ardmore, PA) had the Oris Divers 65 on sale for 30% off their $1800 retail price. This made the brand new watch less expensive than the used version they were selling on their website for $1300. I called Govberg and spoke to Jason and asked about the used Oris -hoping to get a better price. When I informed Jason that the used Oris was actually more expensive than the new watch on sale in their Ardmore store, he became very rude and combative. Instead of telling me to buy the new watch in Ardmore, he actually tried to get me to buy the more expensive used watch. At this point I had blood shooting out of my eyes in disbelief as to what was happening. I firmly believe that Govberg employs too many young adults with little to no selling skills. I took my IWC 3777 pilot to them to swap out the alligator strap with a new stainless bracelet I had recently acquired. I contacted them and spoke to Victoria. I explained what I needed done and expressed concerns of the availability of the special spring bars that were required. She discussed my concerns with the watch maker, Andy. Who confirmed they had the parts. I stopped in the next morning, was politely greeted by everyone in the store. Walked to the back introduced myself to Andy and explained the prior day's conversation. He immediately recalled every detail, took the various parts and made the swap for me in 10 mins. I went in to have a battery replaced in my Tag watch, I was told "$60.00 for just a battery replacement, $90.00 for pressure testing, and vacuum seal it" (??). I also wanted to know, what would it be to re-polish it, I was told "We don't know, we send are watches out, but you can put down a $$ max for and estimate. I said $150.00, about 3 weeks they called, and told me the ring I had was done, and the watch was done, and it would be $160.00. I wanted to know what the difference was, and did that include the polishing it, they told me no, that was just for the battery, but since I had a set amount of 150.00 they would only charge me that. The polishing would be 90.00 more. When I requested a itemized bill, they could not provide one "we send are watches out, and it's whatever they charge". It's a beautiful store with a great selection of watches, but their service of a watch I dropped off in September (I'm writing on 12/30/14) was an embarassment. They could not coordinate finding a new strap and while it was nice to eventually offer to secure a strap from another watch store (Time After Time), it was only done after holding the watch for 4 months! Very little communication was ever given to me and I stopped in about 4 times to see what was going on. I would think the conclusion to this issue should have been made after maybe 1 month of trying to get the right strap. So in sum, they held my Luminox for 4 months and still were not able to find one - I am picking up the same watch I dropped off to them in the late Summer! I have had much better experiences with Bernie Robbins in Radnor for my Rolex and with the purchase of an engagement ring. read more

Received my almost 50 year old Omega Seamaster de Ville watch back in almost new condition (my choice not to have the face reconditioned). It great to have my old faithful back and it now keeps perfect time. Govberg's instructions were clear and their service was excellent and repairs were completed by the date given in their original quote. Contacted Govberg for a quote on a crystal replacement for an Eterna watch. They gave me a quote of approximately $200. Great I say, pack up the watch, spend $40 dollars to package and ship to Govberg. Govberg receives the watch and then sends me a quote of over $900 including a full overhaul of the watch which wasn't needed. The watch was only about 2 years old. Felt like I got the whole bait and switch routine. Diffenitely a waste of time and money - I basically just wasted almost $50 mailing the watch to them and having it returned. And about its return - I had the stem pulled out the keep the watch from running since the face was full of glass and the hands couldn't move. Got the watch back with the crown pushed in and the second hand just clicking against a piece of glass and not moving - grrr.... I would go anywhere else. read more

I purchased a very nice Seiko from them last year. That purchase went well. I then purchased a Momo Design watch from them and it was in rough shape. The box was severely damaged also. They could not understand why I did not like the watch even after I told them the face was discolored and did not show well. I sent that back as you are given a 1 week period for returns. I then purchased a Breitling Colt and returned that as well since it was too small for me. Again, the sales person showed frustration that I returned the watch. I again stated that I am using my 1 week return policy as that is my right. I have since contacted them about selling two beautiful Tag Heuer watches I came into possession of from my friend who was the original owner. These watches were in brand new condition and beautiful. They tried to Low Ball me big time with a $1,600 offer for both. I since sold these to a more reputable dealer in Texas for twice what they offer me. I will never purchase from them again. I recently contacted Govberg about pre-owned watch I was interested in. I live in Australia, and my wife was going to pick up the watch for me in the US during an upcoming trip. We agreed on a price via email and over the phone and I was told they had to receive payment by bank wire in order to ship it (no credit cards!). I was literally just about to send the transfer electronically when I was contacted by the salesperson to say the watch had sold to someone else the night before. I won't say you should not patronize this location but I will say that if you decide to, you will be judged!!!! I was in here recently after work and immediately noticed the "what is he doing here?" Look on the one Gentleman's face. The one who looked me right in the face when I entered and didn't even bother to greet me. I'd been here several times before having my watches serviced and before this day I have always been made to feel welcomed. So as he STOOD not 5ft away from me at the watch case, another Gentleman GOT UP FROM HIS SEAT and approached to assist me. An older man who I believe was named "Marty". He was pleasant non judgmental and very helpful. Even going so far as to put on three watches for me to take a picture and forward to my wife. All the while the other salesman lingered nearby observing us, with a very obvious "why is he wasting his time" look on his face. I eventually purchased two watches, spending $4000 then watched as his attitude turned from snobby and dismissive to aggravated and annoyed that my salesman needed his computer to complete the sale. My wife returned a few weeks later to have her watch sized. As she waited another employee who has seen us there together told her about the way this man behaved. And that he seems to always do that to people of color. I know how I was made to feel but to find out that another employee watched from a distance and could see exactly what was going on is a disgrace. But proves to me I wasn't misinterpreting his demeanor. To make matters worse I found out he is the owners son. I can only assume by treating customers that way that his family clearly doesn't want my money. So needless to say from now on I'll be spending it where it is appreciated. And where I am not made to feel like I'm giving my hard earned money to people who don't even want me in their establishment. read more
