It was delicious and a nice change from our usual sushi bars. We got it delivered to Leander. If I recall correctly, the teriyaki chicken bento had a little too much vegetable and not enough chicken. And the tempura usually would have shrimp in the dinner option but ours didn't so I was surprised. For rolls we got a white dragon roll, salmon tempura roll and a spicy yummy roll. All were great. Don't eat the green thing though

Came here to meet some friends. Ordered the Tuna Poke bowl and it was pretty good and reasonably priced. Nothing special about the interior or the ambiance. Service wasn't too bad. Wouldn't mind coming back to get the Poke bowl again.

Roll was good, bento box was very so so. Wanted to try their Korean food but wasn't on the lunch menu.

Great little family owned restaurant. It was my friend's go-to for Korean takeout during the pandemic so it was nice to come in person. Loved the assortment of banchan. I got the grilled mackerel and my friend got the dol sot bi bim bap (aka stone pot style! One that was definitely not available for takeout) I thought the mackerel was delicious! The fish was well seasoned so that it didn't need to be paired with a lot of rice (great if you're trying to reduce carb intake) and so delightfully crunchy at the edges. It was also oily, but that's expected because it's mackerel, so I just consider it an Omega-3 supplement. My friend enjoyed her bi bim bap experience. What won me over was the banchan - they were allll delicious and our server (I think she's like one of the owners or something) was generous and kindly refilled banchan as they were eaten up. I especially loved the broccoli and probably got 4ths on that alone. I'd definitely come back for a homey Korean meal

Love the sushi here. I will have to try the Korean dishes as well as I love banchan! We like to support this family owned business. If you come at a busy time, it could take longer for your food to come out since it's just the couple working. Service is always courteous. Prices have gone up and selections changed for the lunch menu

I went for lunch and it was quite open during that time. The owner was nice, but a bit awkward. The service was quick and prices are fair for a sushi/korean place in Austin. The sushi and rolls looked good, but I got the Soondubu because it was part of the lunch deal. The one missing star was because it was quite a mediocre bowl of stew with lackluster banchan. The tofu was in little pieces and the egg was completely cooked and stirred in. I'd come back for their bento boxes or sushi, and perhaps give a star back.

Bumped this up to 5 stars because the value to quality ratio is outstanding. The food is very yummy. Lots of variety on the type of dishes. The sushi is excellent. The tempura bento box was simply delicious and prepared just right. Also love the So Crab So Shrimp roll. The sushi chef here has a really good skill on mixing ingredients and preparation. This specialty roll was tasty. Service was prompt and friendly.

New ownership over Goya and it seems to be for the better! We noticed that the quality of all of the cooked food and sushi items have gone up and the ambiance of the restaurant is lighter and cleaner. Even the soy sauce was not watered down and my usual to katsu was so crispy and moist! We came here a lot with the old ownership and love a quiet lunch or dinner spot for sushi so this place will be our new go-to. The service was prompt and polite. Definitely the best sushi option in North Austin!

Our go to when we're craving sushi and a quiet, restaurant. Everything we've ordered has been simply amazing. We usually order appetizers and sushi rolls. You can really tell each roll is crafted with care. You can taste the difference. The beef bulgogi is incredible. Today we had a bento that had a bit of everything and as always, It didn't disappoint. 100% recommend this place.

Chicken Katsu bento box was good. However, curry sauce needs little flavor. Prawn tempura was little dry.

For roughly $60 the wife was full and we had roughly 6 dishes and one cocktail (I was still slightly hungry). Think of it as more of a tapas style ordering. Soft shelled crab - My absolute favorite and by far the best dish! Crispy from the breading, soft shell and subtle crab taste, and to top it off the fried egg adds some creaminess from the yolk. Not greasy at all due to the way it's fried. And who doesn't like a little microgreen to add some freshness to it?! It could likely use a little more salt, and this particular time the yolk was a overcooked. Sushi Tacos - 2nd favorite! You get two, and frankly I prefer not sharing these (although my wife forced me to). It's such a unique dish. Each taco is palm sized. They take a yummy piece of laver (seaweed), coat one side and deep fry it to make a nice hard shell taco casing. Then they fill it with sushi rice, top it with plentiful tuna, add a slice of avocado, and top it with micro greens. Refreshing, light (once you squeeze the tiny lime on top), slightly filling due to the rice, and absolutely delicious. Takoyaki - I'm not a fan, but the wife is. For me it's a texture thing. Even when visiting Japan I didn't enjoy this dish. Honestly though I do think it deserves far more bonito flakes, as the dish is meant to look alive from the waving flakes. Honestly we love this place so much, I always get engrossed in the food so much I forget to take pics. The overall ambience is chill and refined, albeit no white tableclothes, but it acts like it should have them. This location gets busy during dinner time, however during happy hour it's rarely even 1/4 full. Monday's the happy hour is all day!

Overall, the service was poor and not how customers should be treated.

By far this is the best calamari we've eaten (and we test it at every Asian restaurant). Large selection of rolls and ala carte sushi and sashimi- we filled up before the yakisoba came out. Huge serving of chicken was served with the noodles, which were prepared to order with chili paste to make them perfectly extra spicy. Unlike many restaurants, soup and salad were served with the yakisoba entree and overall this made the meal a good value. Overall we were pleasantly surprised to have leftovers and a reasonable bill. The dining room is large and nicely decorated. Servers were attentive and friendly. Thomas was our main server and he took great care of us. We did a google search and this place was about 15 minutes away so we went on a Friday night before our movie. We got there at 6pm and got sat right away which was awesome. The place was huge and clean. The servers were super nice. My sister and I ordered one plate and shred it while my husband got his own. We ordered the soft shell crab but was disappointed which is why it was only 4 stars. It was so heavily battered that we couldn't even taste the crab itself. I'd say to do a light batter for this before frying. The best part of a soft shell crab is the taste of the crab not the batter. But all in all I'd come back!

Came to Don Don Express again, but this time for takeout!…read more I already knew I wanted the Chicken Katsu again after a really great experience last time. I also checked out the appetizer menu and decided to try the curry pancake. The boxed Chicken Katsu came out piping hot. It was still a generous portion of chicken layered over rice. When I saw the side compartment, I paused for a second and thought, is that soup? Then I realized it was actually the onion, egg, and soy mixture that goes with donburi. I did not know it would be packed separately, so I was not especially careful with the container and a little of it spilled into the bag. That said, I really applaud this place for separating it. It kept the chicken katsu crispy and the rice dry and fluffy until I was ready to eat. The curry pancake was different from what I expected, but in a pleasant way. It was not filled with curry or mixed into the dough. Instead, it was a hot, crispy, flaky Asian-style pancake with a texture similar to a scallion pancake, served with a curry dipping sauce. The curry had a bold and flavorful profile. It was not thick but nor sweet as the usual Japanese curry block sauces, as I was expeecting since it is a japnese themeed place. Te curry to me tatded more indian curry stlye, a bit spicy and a strong but it had a strong savory depth. Because of the texure closer to a desn flavor croth it did not cling to the pancake as much, not like how naan would scoopt up the curry, but it still paired very well, and works nice with the katsu, too! Very happy with this meal and definitely excited to return again.
