To be completely honest, I am biased. I already had a good relations with another dealership and went to this dealership since I moved close to it. The pro is they're one of the few dealers that sells new Yamahas around San Jose and they're open Sundays. That being said, I do not like their customer service at times. When I'm interested in a bike, they pull it out and let me see it. But there was a time I went with a bike I purchased at the dealership I always go. The employee at GP sports asked me where I got it and when I told them where, he laughed and said something like "they're not a real dealer, we're the real ones" and spoke a bit more talking down on the dealership I got my bike at. It felt very unwelcoming and uncomfortable because I felt very attacked since my choice and my motorcycle was talked down on. Don't get me wrong, they were probably joking but I always get some arrogant and cocky feel from a lot of their older employees. They feel very corporate. Another time, they showed no compassion and left it at "it's policy, we can't take in service bikes on Sunday" when my acquaintance crashed his bike right across the shop in the parking lot and wanted to leave it with them for a repair. Their service department was going to open Tuesday, and told us to tow the bike home and tow it back Tuesday. We decided to just take it home and repair ourselves. It is fair for them to have boundaries but the arrogant, "it's your fault" feel they had and con compassion made the experience very bad. I am coming from a very welcoming dealer that I believe would at least call the boss to see if they can take the bike in so I was very unpleasant. The younger employees and some other employees are very friendly and nice so it hurts to leave this review, but as a whole, it was never a great experience going there. Brought my 2024 Yamaha Tracer 9 in for recall work related to the throttle control. End result - OMG - it's like a new motorcycle - it handles so smooth and gracefully now I regret not bringing it in sooner. They put the "sport" back into the sport touring. They did some additional tuning work with their basic service that certainly contributed to the end result. The only downside is that I had to wait 4 weeks to get the work done due to their busy schedule. Nonetheless, great work is great work. We've all visited a dealership with our sights set on something. The salesman and their strategy to move inventory is like trying to pass a kidney stone; you have to do it and it's so damn painful. I didn't get ANY of this at GP sports. In fact, I might have thought they either didn't like their actual job or didn't think I was serious simply because they aren't pushy. At all. I started my communication with them inquiring about a particular motorcycle online. I called Trent the next business day asking about pricing and for the specific motorcycle VIN number so that I could get an accurate insurance quote on my end. He was very prompt in getting the answers I was looking for and emailed me the VIN number within minutes. I applied for financing online, again no pushy sales calls. I got an email from Carlos the sales manager the next business day clearly outlining price and payment options based on monthly terms. I responded saying that I appreciated his patience with me and that I would be coming in 2 days later to sign papers. Carlos was very professional, cool to deal with and honestly a no BS approach. Is it because I'm older and have really good credit? Perhaps. But in no way did I feel any pressure from GP to "make the sale" not to mention their pricing is ON point. Granted they are not a giant dealer you may find in Sacramento, but they have the desirable models you are looking for at an exceptional price. First off Carlos is cool no issues cool great guy. I would come in specifically only to do business with him. If I came back here everyone else is very strange came in to buy a dirt bike. I already knew the backstory on it, but asked one of the salesman and he made a complete lie fabricated story of why the guy selling the bike to try and BS me said the bike came in for maintenance and the chain was adjusted. Poor customer service. Won't be back. Came in to check out bikes and right away it felt like we weren't taken seriously probably because we didn't roll up in a Mercedes or something. The staff seemed more focused on chatting behind the counter than actually helping customers. We found a bike we were interested in, but guess what? No price tag. When we asked, they said it was "pending a price." Why even have it on the floor if you can't tell us how much it costs? They took our info and promised to call us back once they had the price. It's been weeks. No follow-up, no courtesy call nothing. Honestly, this shop is more concerned with their bike maintenance and repair side than customer service or bike sales. Knowledgeable staff. The gentleman helping us is very young, but he sure was able to tell me the difference between the bikes they carry and what is considered legal in California. On Amazon the dirt bikes are around $500 which is doable but come to find out they do not ship to California due to regulations and whatnot. A dirt bike will cost me around $2,500-$4,000 so I decided not to look further. I told Gavin if I do get him a dirt bike then that means no vacations for the foreseeable future. I wanted to leave this review to share....from my experiences doing business with GP Sports it has been great. From purchasing 2015 450R, 2016 GSXR, 2017 VXHO ski, 2018 GSXR, 2024 MT-07 and 2024 R7, no issues. I did learn to alot with self research having these rides, one must become familiar with the manual for your equipment. I've done things pushing the rides too hard and things happen, but GP Sports service side has always been very professional each time. Hey Carlos, you always came through making the sales....I'll be back when its time to level up on a new ride. Having bikes are alot of work, if something needs to be fixed and I know not to get into too far, I'll reach out to their service department. Was pretty helpful answering questions on various bikes, but tried to upcharge the dealership preparation fee from 675 to 1175 for it being a special edition bike. No other dealership does that. Went to one in Fremont and their preparation fee for the same bike was $600 with no upcharge. I believe they are kind of scummy and you should take your business elsewhere. Update: This is an update to what the customer service person replied. I am not as upset of the price hike, but more so how they went about it. The tags inside the store for the bike said 675 and then as we were processing was also typed to be 675. Later, the person changed it to 1175 saying its because its an SE even though the tags said it was 675 and the employee said it was 675. This may all be a misunderstanding and not a scummy tactic, and may not deserve a 1 star review, and I probably would change it. But then their reply insinuating I'm insignificant and I'm hiding behind my keyboard doesn't feel very professional, so I'm keeping it as is, and recommending other stores if your in the market. read more

Actually purchased 2 motorcycles from GP sports. A Suzuki SV650 in 2020 and this year my dream bike of a 2023 Yamaha MT-09 SP. In both cases the staff were great and the prices fair given the market and availability. After sale service: I've struggled to acquire Yamaha accessories for my MT-09. The staff really helps as best they can given Yamaha's lack of inventory. Service dept: Took in my MT-09 for a Yamaha recall. Great knowledgable team with no issues at all and ready to help. Parts dept: Good people, reasonable prices. Picked up oil/filter/washer/etc for maintenance. For example, oil is less than what Amazon charges, and I like supporting a local business even if I have to pay a bit more. I too had paid to have accessories installed on my GoldWing that I purchased from GP Sports and discovered that they stole parts I paid for that were supposed to replace the stock ones. Now because of this I am having severe issues and since it was hidden from view, I just discovered it. Russ was going to work with me but now has basically told me to F&^k off. He calls it a warranty issue. It is a Defrauding the Customer Issue. It would have cost him $250 to resolve this. Considering I spend over $30,000 it is very chicken shit on his part. But not done. I bought a motorcycle from GP Sports previously, fair price/fair fees, and was on a waiting list #26 or so for Tenere 700, get a phone call today - ohh yeah there is one coming in the next 2 weeks, exciting right?! Then I mentioned I heard about some dealerships asking for more $$$ for the bike over MSRP. They told me this for a $10k bike, we want $1000 more. (I am providing 2 starts because of Peter, the service manager took good care of us - I may not buy a bike from GP Sports but I would consider servicing one there for sure. One bad experience does not mean a completely bad shop) To be fair the sales manager told me "The business must increase the fees to keep the doors open". I've explained you can do this via handling fees and gradually increase the prices, telling the customer waiting for 4-6 months (I can't even recall how long) we are going to charge you a markup of $1000, and this is how life is, is absolutely not the right way to retain customers. You could have also called your customers and advised them in advance, fees will be going up, would you like to remain on the list or go somewhere else, or buy a BMW for example (just bought one, they are not jacking up the prices - and customers keep coming back - gee, what a novel idea of retaining business). I will never buy a motorcycle from your dealership again. Not even if you tried to give it to me for free, I would refuse. (Try it, seriously). It is a matter of principle, motorcycle shops which truly give a hoot about their customers are the ones who survive. And with this said it is nice to have a bike shop where you can call and get an immediate response and answer and order apart or be able to go pick it up because it's in stock. Especially in times like this it's nice to be able to go into a bike shop once a week see the GM Russ meet you with a smile and a handshake and help right away. If there's a special part we need he does everything he can to make sure we get it as soon as we can and when we need special bike service the lead mechanic Trevor is awesome to work with. He will let you come into the shop and show you what he's doing and what needs to be done and what is the best way to fix it and get you back on your ride. As a group of guys that ride at least two or three times a week it's very relieving especially during these times to have a bike shop that you can count on. What's actually unfortunate at the end of the day is that the Customer Service Representative of GP Sports does not understand that there are numerous negative feedback ratings here on Yelp that are specifically related to the parts department and are posted for a reason. Instead of looking "inward" at how the business is functioning and attempting to bring the level of service up the effort is instead directed towards trying to pick apart reviews that have stated facts. Of course when they provide a paycheck to an employee (Customer Service Representative- Jessica) one cannot expect an unbiased view of thier utter lack of customer service. In Jessica's world they are doing an awesome job. Just glad I did not encounter the employee who worked there that decided to kill a fellow employee during a fight. Ok. I'm gonna be fair. I was looking for a bike for the first time. Russ was pretty helpful and showed me a used Honda 1100 Shadow cruiser that was in pretty good shape. The price was great. No problem there. I notified him I wanted to buy the bike and he indicated they would clean it up for me and get it ready for the sale which included a safety check and I'm not sure what else. I showed up Friday to close the sale and we performed the typical paperwork/payment routine and they handed me the keys, the manual, and the tool kit, along with all the legalese on paper. All good. So, I rode the bike 16 miles home. When I got home I noted that the tank seemed almost empty, but more than that, there is no gauge that tells you the fuel level. ? Ok. Its a Honda 2004. Maybe it wasn't important back then? No worries. But. If they performed a safety check and an overall cycle fitness check, wouldn't they want to tell me there is only about a 1/3 of a gallon? So, I got on the bike at 8:30 that evening to get fuel and dinner. I got about a mile down the road. It ran out of gas. A really bad spot. No stations close enough for me to push it. I had to call a friend. Worse than that was no reserve fuel. There was 3 minutes of idle reserve which ran out waiting for a red light. Ok. I should have checked. But like I said, I am completely new at this. I haven't riddent a street bike before, only dirt bikes 45 years ago. Someone should have said, "hey, the tank is empty. Go straight to a gas station. There is no gauge.". Ok. Now I know Then this morning I wake up and the tire is flat. Gee. After running around and trying to determine the best action, I decided to purchase a motorcycle jack and pull the tire myself and take it to a local dealer to replace it. GP said they would do it for me if I could get it there, but, they are farther away. I had filled the tire with air and it held... I could only assume it was a slow leak. It turned out to be the stem. The rubber was so old that if you just press it enough it bled air fast as all get out. Wow. Too bad that didn't show up in the safety check. After all the bike apparently sat for a few years and it only has 13k miles. I would have been happy to replace it before picking it up. It turns out the tires have visible cracks all around the walls. I didn't notice when I purchased it, but I would think experienced motorcycle people would have, because those are dangerous tires. I would have happily paid to replace them. My opinion is, they didn't care enough about me, the customer, to assure my safety by making a few smarter and or thoughtfully safety checks. It just seems they were happy to get that old trade-in off their lot. All together, I am happy about the bike. Happy to have new tires and new stems, and a full tank. But, I rate the customer care very poorly. Sending a rookie rider out the door with those conditions, is a recipe for disaster. Not mentioning any of these issues up front? Careless. No commitment to the safety of a new rider, and a new customer. As a business owner, I know that how you look after every customer, is how your reputation will reflect over time. Make sure you ask questions. Use better judgement if you are a new rider and don't assume these folks will go any extra to assure your first miles will be happy and safe. read more

Leaving 3 out of 5 stars. They're just average., Very clean, organized, and professional. Expensive/ on the high side. Price services based on what books says, not actual. Example: if book says pil change is 1.5hours and it took them 0.5hours, they will charge me 1.5 hours And I think they may have cheated me-- maybe, not sure. In addition to some other services, I asked for a battery report. Basically, I wanted to know how old it was, what does current condition, and I guess how long it's gonna last before I need to replace it. There was a charge, i think $100 +/- because the battery had to be removed and then tested and then re-installed. However, I don't believe they removed the battery (follow along for my assumption). In 2018, I Purchased a 2008 bike from GP. 10 years old with 10K miles. It's a Suzuki, Japanese , so they're supposed to last forever. Today (2023), my bike died. I'm thinking it's a battery issue but could be a connection issue. I was stranded and had to call a tow truck. I wanted to have it delivered to GP but.... I called up GP, and my bike didn't make the cut off-- Yeah, Apparently there's a cut off. The bike is too old. (2010 w/ 20k miles). On that note.... 1 year ago I brought the bike to GP to fix an intermittent idle issue & to test the battery. I believe it costs $150 +/- for diagnostic. And the battery test was $100 +/-. I was good with it, for a few hundred bucks, I'd be well on my way. During the diagnostic they found the issue, a loose connection. An easy fix. The battery came back with an excellent report. I asked him how old the battery was and they weren't able to provide that information. I would've assumed, if they pulled the battery out to test it, they would be able to provide that information-- considering, that's what I was paying for... how old is the battery. How much life do I have left. And when will I need to replace it. Then they continued to recommend a tune-up. I said, well what do you recommend a tuneup? I may as well get it done while I'm there.. In summary... I went in expecting to spend a few hundred dollars and getting back on the road. I ended up spending around $2000 bucks. I received an excellent battery report. And, I believe my battery took a dump today-- one year later. read more

Now they are claiming I am posting on the wrong companies Yelp, are you on Camden do you have a salesman named Trenton if so then I am not posting on the wrong business Yelp. Bought a 2020 DRZ400SM, It was delivered to me with a loose chain that was caked with sticky black gummy oil all over the chain and sprocket. This took me three washes and scrubbing with a brush to get it all off. I did not notice this until a few rides in (200miles). after cleaning the chain I noticed damage to the upper chain guide / rail. This is my first bike so i was worried it was not safe to ride, after renting a trailer and getting service they admitted the damage was caused by the loose chain. I asked if they could replace the plastic part they instantly told me its a waste of money the said they would call me back it has been three days. On top of all of this they charged me the MSRP when the bike was on sale for $500 off and added a warranty around 1k dollars without asking me. I caught the warranty during paperwork but missed the MSRP. As soon as you are done with paperwork on your bike they do not care about you. They lost me as a customer over a $30 part that was damaged because they were lazy. read more

I highly recommend them especially for E bikes. Recently I went to another bike store (closer to my home) for a bike service and was told that the E bike repair person was not in until the following Thursday. At GP sports... They specialize in E bikes they know how to work with them they work close with Specialized and are at the top of their game in regards to Sales, service, and support. I will be making the extra drive to them for now on. I am pretty tough on my equipment and try to take good care of things... My son begged me to stop in after he had been researching smaller dirt bikes. When we arrived during the Presidents' Day weekend, I was surprised to see that they weren't busy. We scoped out the quads in the front of the store before heading to the dirt bikes. After a couple of minutes a store associate welcomed us and answered all of our questions. Unfortunately, he explained that over the duration of the pandemic they had not been getting anymore kids bikes so their selection was small. I reached out to this location originally three weeks ago looking to find a new Kawasaki JetSki. I was told by the salesman that there was one in stock and then he would call me back about availability to get it. I never received a call back. I called again, and inquired about the same JetSki about a week ago. Spoke to another salesman. Once again, he was supposed to call me back. I have still not received a call back from either salesman. This is mildly annoying especially considering that another location has the JetSki. I'm looking for in stock. I'm trying to avoid having to drive to the other dealership, which is a ways away. I am a cash purchase customer and I can't even get a callback from this dealership. Horrible horrible customer service. I'll make the drive and pay for my JetSki at another location. I would not suggest anyone use this place. Their customers aren't even important enough for them to make a phone call. Update: the snarky response from the business is exactly what I expected. Rude, and a perfect example of the customer service I've experienced. The salesmen I spoke to gave me dates that they would call. Those dates came and went. When you guys waste peoples time and don't even return calls then get rude, it's a great way to retain customers. I found a jet ski this morning, put deposit down and pick it up Monday. If I like this one I'll buy a second next month. Obviously, by looking at how the owner replies publicly to their customers on social media, they are like trump. Someone should take their phone away. VERY disappointed with the service department, had brought my bike in for new bars and was told my brake cable was too short, service manager tol me to come back when i had the cable and he"d redo it. called today and was told that the work would be "too time consuming", and this was AFTER the bars were on the bike the 1st time.
